I was literally about to post this cuz he had no clue that it was gonna kill his champ, luckily he found another route that distracted him from doing it XD
It actually frustrated me because when I played this game, dark deal killed my champ even though it had armor and for some reason his just lived?? Honestly kinda why I refunded the game. The mechanics just decide to work differently
@@vincentepage7012 Would you not agree that the chance of you having overlooked something small is way higher than the game's mechanics being somehow stochastic? A really easy way for that to have happened is if somehow you increased your Magic power and not realizing dark deal would suddenly do more than 5 damage. Bugs can happen of course but I've not encountered much if any with this game, plus, the mechanics seem all very simple and straightforward programming-wise. They have not been randomly performing in different ways for me at all (or for NL as far as I have seen).
@@TankorSmash even with the bomb, the front most enemy acts first. So the dude strikes for 3 on the imp, killing it. Then the healer goes, and finally the bomb, killing the champion. Piercing cards get past all shields, meaning the horn could be used to kill the bomb and save his champion. As a side note, I've definitely also struggled with overlooking the simple things in this game. But NL playing it is always a POG time
Even went through all the steps, just forgot the front unit acts first (unless something is quick). Since bomb explosion is an action (even gets dazed), it still acts in order.
I love the passion and energy you have for this game. Having these vids on while I work gives me more joy when I actually get to play it later. Keep up the great vids, the joy you have for this series really comes through!
Nice job NL. Two things worth mentioning on this one: 1. Sharpen on this champion variant is sick. Support units will slam into him and die, giving him both rage (from revenge) and armor (from slay). 2. With most of your rage coming from the imps, you should have considered diverging into multi-strike so you could kill more units per turn (more slay triggers and an easier time on the upper floors).
A great thing to see NL slowing down and also trying out new builds. Trying new things is the way to learn faster about the cards and improving. Today's advice will be on floor occupation against bosses. If you can, on boss levels you want the maximum number of creatures on all floors, even if they are train stewards. Remember that any damage on empty floors will go to the boss if it stays there and it helps a lot against the boss in the end : )
There is nothing better than watching him fail to understand how the lifesteal boss lives or the bomb doesn't go off until the front units attack. He thinks about it for 5 seconds and just gives up.
22:04 by escalating the enemy unit your champion didn't get a slay trigger, so it didn't get the buffs needed to kill the boss on the bottom floor. Also great video as always.
I'm so happy NL has been able to see the rage-induced light that comes with the Hellhorned. Once he said on stream that the hellhorned was trash I thought "All this man needs is one Pogged rage-build and he's gonna love em" and here we are!
NL combat in Monstertrain resolves top to bottom, left to right. This means everything in the top most floor fights first. Then the left most winged attacks first, then the one to its right and so forth until it's arrived at the right most unit. Resolve triggers go right after their attack. This means what had you so confused early on in the run was this. You imp died to the attack first because the attacker was further left than the bomb. And only at the very end does the bomb trigger its explosion. Since your imp was dead at that point the explosion then would have killed your champion.
34:57 ... You had 655 gold. Cost -25% is equivalent to getting (your gold - guild marker cost) *1.33 = 625. The game rounds up the prices too, so it's a little worse.
39:25 The madman. He almost did it. He 100% forgot about the pierce on Branding Rite and was inches from killing his champion. Thankfully he spontaneously decided to ise it elsewhere. Ngl though, it would have made a hilarious end to the run.
I've never talked to the TV before but I was just like horn break the bomb horn break the bomb! Imp had one hp, front unit did 3 dmg, healer did nothing, bomb did 10 dmg to your 10 hp champion
1. The reason that the imp and champion died that you were confused about was that the bomb triggers after the other enemies have done their attack. Imp gets attacked for 3, bomb hits champion for 10. 2. The reason that the boss took less damage when you ascended his tank was *probably* that you were depriving your champ of a slay trigger.
10:40 - the reason it was dying is because the units attack Front to Back (so the 2 front dudes kill your Imp, and THEN the bomb explodes dealing 10 to champion)
Was about to go crazy when you was about to forfeit the run because you thought your champion was going to die and didn't see the unit you could play to block the damage. Played a champion synergy hows it's meant to be played, nice work NL!! great job. Pretty please try Awoken thorns+regen or card draw. fyi NL, multistrike on your champion does a lot more than the other bonus, 200x2 is more than 300 dmg, plus he can kill more units on the bottom floor.
NL, enemies attack front to back. The imp was dying to the 3 damage attack and then the bomb explodes because it was in the back, which kills your champion.
>Two or three runs ago >Confuses Rootsplit Mask's rooted with dazed >Realizes it and points it out >Takes the same relic within the first minute of the run and reads the description out loud >"I guess you go for the PYRE DAZE on that one"
around 22:00 you made the boss take less damage by removing a slay target from your champion, so he had 15 less health. Early on your champ died because the bomb goes off after the enemy attack phase, so the guy with 3 dmg killed the imp, then the bomb exploded for 10 on your champ.
NL, in the future, if you have the ember and the capacity to play a random train steward in front of your units (and it's not gonna ruin your setup in the future) then you might as well do it so they can just tank some hits and get out of your deck for the battle.

NL trying to figure out why his champion dies.
PEAK CONTENT!
10:42 What was the answer? I didn't see why either. There was 10 dmg from the bomb to the Imp, and 3 from the dude who gets powered up on Incant...

Even went through all the steps, just forgot the front unit acts first (unless something is quick). Since bomb explosion is an action (even gets dazed), it still acts in order.
In the demo build, the bombs used to go off first, before attacks. I think that's why he was confused.
NL would have 1000% accidentally killed his own champion with branding rite if he didn't have to apply it to the animus lol
It's hilarious how he almost threw the run with "Branding Rite" if he wasn't aware it did piercing damage.
Yeah I got scared when he talked about using it on his champ haha
I was on the edge of my freakin' seat dude. It would have been the end of everything.
I was yelling for him not to do it, whilst simultaneously awaiting his reaction when he did.
"Alright guys where gonna do a random run today screw it." Me knowing damn well its about to be an awoken run
1:20 NL makes a desperate attempt not to say "pogged out of my gourd" for the six hundredth time this series
Honestly wasn't sure what was happening here. At first I was like, "Is he okay?"
Nutterjk his pog-ticks are geting worse.
39:20 Me: Screaming at NL so he doesn’t pierce the champion’s armor and lose the game
NL: I really want to put armor on the champion here
Lol I was the same! totally saw him do it already in my head! :D
I gotta admit that I got baited. I saw a 42 minute video and said "oh no". Turns out it was NL's fastest win yet, gg wp!

I've noticed a strange thing in the games code!
If(pick==random){
choice=random(Clans)
If(player == Northernlion) {
choice=Awoken
}
That must be some kind of bug!
if(player == Northernlion)
{MyGourd.Remove("pogged");}
Nvm since he picked Hellhorned it was a 25
Eww nested if statements
}
Short video, "Rage" in the title, debuff-cleansing boss. This will be another disaster, isn't it?
Edit: need to buy a new gourd :(
He really was about to do 5 pierce damage to his 1hp champion if his animus didnt need the armor.
Spike on this champ are op since they count as slay. Those floors with tons of low hp enemies give huge stacks
Haven't watched this series until now for some reason. Seems like a cool game!
Welcome. This is Egg's 2020 gift to the world. Best running series since Eden.
Tyler Croushore better then Eden, but Eden was also still really really good and fun to watch
It's a great game and series!

This was a great run, almost smooth sailing throughout. And was almost all unknowingly thrown away at the end.
You can trigger rage on your units by using torch or any damage spell you can target your own units with.
What an extraordinarily pogged run
waiting with bated breath for NL to kill his 1 HP champion with piercing damage. >> he doesn't. LET'S GO

Despite all his rage, he is still just an imp on a train
I think one of the best parts of the series is being able to watch a pogged out run and then immediately go play monster train myself
2 minutes into the video is the reason NL values glimmer so highly, that card can be such a life savior.

Is there anything more POG than a single character doing 794 damage in one hit? I'm drowning in all these pogs NL, keep this series up.
A single character doing 794 in an hjt, while being costantly nerfed by the boss?
I'm pretty sure they cap the damage at 999, I got It once in the demo I believe, was pogged.
