IS LRMs are greatly underestimated. They deal damage like a shotgun, with all the missiles firing at once, which means AMS does nearly nothing to defend against each volley. Clan LRMs deal damage like a laser, firing in a chain cycle, and gives you many options to mitigate the damage and spread the damage out, including more effective AMS countermeasure.
This is my go-to assault mech. I use a slower engine and some medium lasers for backup, and I don't bother with TAG because I'm too lazy to macro it to work as a toggle.

And I think you're 100% right in saying don't only judge by the dmg number. Unfortunately the game is so damage centric.
I wish there was more strategy, more tactics, more actual roles
I hate having these on my team, 80 tons for 60 tubes, and the people that pilot them don't use the armor till the end when they die last. Front line/2nd line lrm is a thing, yes but seeing a guy play like that is like seeing a unicorn.
If they are done right, the enemy doesn't have any armor to worry about.
100% of my 2k damage games are with this build...and beer
One of my favorite mechs. I run it with a LE300. Use 2 launchers each on chainfire and hit them both at the same time, to double-launch and avoid ghostheat.
IS THE ZERO SKILL LRM SPAM NOT BAD ENOUGH /SIGH
uh LRM Game rly can be fun :-D
1200 damage Steiner LURM STURM!
if yea alpha the 60 you can make it thought heavy AMS
An assault mech with only LRMs? Oh you mean a Stalker.
1554 Damage...Build Rocks.
I run a Battlemaster built a lot like this. It's running a standard engine, tag and 3 medium lasers as well. 54kph but it is obnoxious and I love it. :)
This feels..... dirty
Appreciated.
Take off artemis, give 2 ML in arm and tag in head, and you have the standard build. Its my favorite mech. thanks for calling it a meme thou :(
The two mediums wouldnt really be helpful. Sure, shooting two medium lasers at a light mech. It wouldnt do much though
“Don’t try this at home!”
Tag should be in its head not arm
who else did laugh out loud the second they saw him slide the survival tree with two nodes on ?
It's very DGAF. :)
I would just go hunchback iic
Finally something different
It sadens me that you teach everyone to nascar. :(
More! Gimme MORE! :D
surprised as victor lrm bot.. wow

Tag in the arm vs. tag in the head, discuss:
Definitely prefer in the head of the 8R so I can peek over hills and tag. Having it in the arm is more situational and often makes the tag get blocked by terrain imo.
Arms too low prefer it in the head.
As much as I enjoy watching you have fun with these "meme builds" I hate seeing them on the actual battlefield. They inevitably get wrecked by a couple of light mechs that can easily under-run them, or they are the last survivor but they've run out of ammo and can do nothing.
This carries an no insane # of missiles
Und was bitte, meinst du mit "don'
t do that at home"?
