You cannot eat gold in times of war and economical crisis. Govt issued bond is also a piece of paper only. Real metal is something you can not keep safe.
His view influenced me to buy physical gold bars in 2019 july and I can't thank him enough for it. Used to be against gold since I felt it's a dump asset. But his analysis helped me realize there is a place in everyone's portfolio for gold. One thing I would like to add is we should not treat the jewelry as a part of our Portfolio.
Great video. For someone who is just starting to add gold exposure to their portfolio, does it make sense to go lump sum or SIP like investment to accommodate for price fluctuations?
You said Gold provides a hedge against your own government against your own currency. But SGB is issued by govt only. So how secure it is? If there is risk in currency managed by govt then SGB is also issued by the government. Please enlighten us.
3 points 1) Taxation of gold MFs is similar to Debt MF - the video mentions its treatment as Equity MF 2) The % allocation will go into debt or equity split? For e.g., for 60:40 (E:D) will it go into the 40% ? 3) Missed covering the Digital gold Nice video and interesting take on the Gold stocks. Thanks.
6:40 ~ I think the taxation of gold mutual funds and gold ETFs at the time of redemption is the same as selling gold jewellery. i.e: If you sell before 3 years it's added to your income and taxed at your regular income slab and after 3 years it's LTCG (20% with indexation benefit)
Great byte on Gold. One question though regarding SGB: I see the SGBs are traded on exchange as well. So if I buy any of those SGB which will be I guess a transfer from previous owner, who will receive the 2.5% interest? And how will it be be prorated? TIA
Please take a topic of selling in momentum investing. What should should be the sell signal? Because its my impression that in certain weekend investing portfolios you have aggressive selling strategies. So should it be as a percentage fall or should it be based on the structure of the chart
I don't know if this will help you or not but every commodity has some kind of cycle associated with it. Gold has a commodity cycle of 8 years and that's why it is highly likely that the gold price will increase till then.
Very informative video Alok Sir. What should be the minimum and maximum period one should get invested in the gold? As SGBs are for 8 years only and then we have to redeem it. Is it the right things to go for such period as gold has tremendous returns for getting more long on it. What are your views sir?
Sir ,Any advantage to buy sgb from secondary market , like if i buy sgboct 25 from secondary market will it get matured in oct 25 for all benifits. & i will not be bound to hold it for 8 years. Is it so?
Sir for sgb, if bought from secondary market, capital gains tax benefit may not be available. Government is yet to clarify tax treatment in such a situation.
Very informative...

To my knowledge there is no such issue.
