Eye floaters were the cause of my health anxiety, I was constantly checking if there were new ones and it honestly spiked up the anxiety even more. But now it's been a year since I've had them and I don't really notice them that much anymore. Going to a therapist and accepting my floaters helped a lot. At first I was always in fear but for anyone who reads this and has been worrying over their eye floaters: It really gets better! Try to figure out the root of your anxiety, because that's what makes it worse. Apparently a lot of my friends have them as well and it seems this is a very common occurrence.

I developed macular degeneration with flashes and floaters after years of chronic stress looking after my ASD son. Last week I had my first cataract surgery and now the floaters have become much more obvious. I have been quite anxious thinking about having to live my life now with this flock of hundreds of flies. Your video helped me immensely and I'm so grateful that I found you this morning. I also have tinnitus and I've somehow got used to that and beyond the anxiety. It's actually the thoughts and imagination that cause the problem to be so exaggerated so that's the place to let go and get on with enjoying life. Again, thankyou so much for sharing your experience and making life easier.

Your videos make me think maybe I have proper health anxiety. I think my first real bout of anxiety was around tinnitus. My tinnitus is very mild, but when I noticed it, it felt crippling to me - devastating. I've gone through serious panic and anxiety over temporary hearing loss (like ear wax moving around in the ear - lasting a few seconds). I've had serious anxiety over eye floaters ("I'm going blind!"). My new worry has been my fingers twitching. The funny thing to me is that I can look back on my previous worries, and see how overblown they were. The eye floater thing is a great example - I don't give it a second thought now. My tinnitus is very mild (I almost never notice it). My hearing is great. But the damn fingers twitching... I'm having a ton of anxiety over that. And definitely the anxiety makes it worse.
While the anxiety hasn't gone away... it's helpful knowing that other folks have these experiences. Until watching your videos, I didn't even know "health anxiety" was a thing. Been a couple weeks now. Helps a lot listening to your stuff. You are a blessing to a lot of anxiety sufferers. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

    • @nickmasters8474
      @nickmasters8474 3 місяці тому

@@russiaboyz2256 They are fine. I saw my eye doc about them a couple years ago and she called them "birthday presents" and said I would get more of them as I age. (I'm 40). Basically it's just proteins forming into clumps inside your eye jelly. It's generally totally benign and not something to worry about.
One thing that can help is to rapidly move your eye up and down. This can cause the floaters to float to a position that is less obviously in your visual field.
Stuff like this is in the category of things that can bother you very much if you focus on it and worry about it. On the other hand, most people have floaters and don't notice or worry about it.
I'm a fairly obsessive kind of person. I've obsessed over things like mild twitching/tremoring, eye floaters, mild tinnitus, etc. In all cases, my docs have told me I'm totally fine. My experience tells me that if I fixate on these sorts of issues, they seem far worse than they actually are.
Basically, try not to worry about it. It's always good to get a regular eye checkup, but just know that eye floaters are very common and generally benign. Mine don't bother me anymore, nor does my mild tinnitus. I'm still working on getting at peace with my mild twitching/tremoring (I have very subtle finger shakes that worry me as a professional musician, but they do not hamper my ability to play music or type at 100+WPM). Even that last problem is getting better for me.
Basically you just have to work on your mental state. The more you fight your symptoms, the worse they seem and the more upset you get. Work on trusting that you are OK (again, eye floaters are common and almost always benign).
Best of luck to ya! I'm betting you are totally fine, and I think you will calm down about your eye floaters.

Same story, to a tee. Increase in floaters, flashes, sparkles, go to the eye doctor and she says my eyes are healthy, she sees the floaters there’s a lot so “let’s do another test to make sure it’s not something neurological like MS” triggered right away, had to wait a couple days for a field vision test, what’s worse is the results took like forever to come back so that whole time I kept checking my chart to see if the results came in. Came back fine but that amount of anxiety it caused thinking I had a horrible disease and the googling I did was insane. Thank you for these videos they help tremendously ❤❤❤

4:00 I have been dealing with this exactly for a year now. I have floaters and astigmatism and it’s harder to see further away especially when driving. To the point where I have glasses now. It really was me drinking and smoking so much and eating junk food and staying up so late and stressing about life that caused me this problem. I’m changing my life but my eyes have been a problem for me. Every night I pray that they get better.

This!! Going through the same thing... which I went through before but for some reason I can't seem to remember how I tuned out from them. 2012... loads of floaters all of a sudden and somehow just got on with it. Had them on and off for years. Felt totally free of them for years too... then this August hit my left eye... got some flashes and started to worry... was checking for flashes and new floaters all the time in that eye... then all of a sudden loads of floaters in both eyes... i'm on all the supplements you can imagine but i'm starting to realise that i'm making it worse... i know they'll go away again... or that i'll forget about them as I have before... I just wanted them to go away too quickly and have made them last longer as a consequence.
For anyone about to go down a crazy supplement, diet, detox rabbit hole... please STOP! I know they go away... either mentally or physically... Anytime in the past when I've got on about my life they disappear... and some days I remember I had' them and think "Yes they're gone and I didn't even realise" .. and when I get a flare up and try to make them go away.... they never do!
Of-course, get them checked first and live a healthy active life! Don't stop doing the things you love because your floaters annoy you... do them anyway and in time (be patient and switch off) you'll forget you even had them. It's been 4 months of me torturing myself for a cure before Christmas... and it's done me no good!
Time to forget about floater cures and get on with everything else we have in life! They're not forever... .STAY OFF REDIT... people on their are stuck in a harmful cycle and a few are definitely the exception to the rule of having daily bothersome floaters for 20 + years!
    Hope this helps someone!

Oddly enough I have tinnitus and just noticed new eye floaters. Eye doctor said it’s just the aging and vitreous gel clumping and is normal with age. Went to 2 eye docs just to be doubly sure. Yes constantly googling and obsessing is bad! It just makes you hyper aware. A lady I used to work with said she has floaters too and that eventually the brain learns to ignore them. I can tell you from experience with tinnitus that obsessing ALWAYS makes it worse. At first it’s frightening but slowly they either fade or become less noticeable as you stop concentrating so much on them. It’s the anxiety that always makes things worse. I mostly see mine outside on sunny days. One sort of large one and a bunch of pinpoint black ones. Mostly in left eye. Anyone suffering needs to mitigate anxiety and you will stop worrying so much about them. Just be sure to get reassurance from your ophthalmologist or optometrist first. Then try to relax. Actually to me the tinnitus is more annoying but it’s lessened some.

@@Priya_dubey207 According to my ophthalmologist, the main cause is dehydration (I drink VERY little), and within a month they remained the same. Now I'm noticing them a lot less, and I've actually discovered that a lot more people than I thought have them. Two of my friends suffer from floatets and like me they are short-sighted and also astigmatic (they are 17 and 19 years old). I was very happy to know that I wasn't the only one, and even happier when my doctor said that it was nothing dangerous. However, they were quite annoying for a while, and over time the doctor said that they tend to move out of the field of vision or to break and maybe also disintegrate, and that I can safely remove the largest and most annoying ones with the laser. Ps. Pineapple doesn't work.

Diluted atropine dilates pupils just a tiny bit, in fight of flight response dilation is not the root cause of seeing floaters, in that case is the hyperawareness of the visual system that kicks in ;) that's biologically a smart way to call it a day, same applies for tinnitus, hearing system flares up as well. @@kyoli9847

It's false and misleading to say that everyone can get used to them. Its a physical issue and changing your outlook, mental health, anxiety etc can not always make you forget about giant grotesque insects in your vision! I suffered for 2 years and they were constant torture. I saw mine every minute of every day except in the dark or when I was sleeping. Mine actually blocked my vision and were completely opaque blobs, making it hard to read, work on my computer, and drive. I had degenerative myopic vitreopathy which gets worse and worse. The ONLY thing that worked was vitrectomy surgery. I know many people on an online group who have had them for 10 years or more, and they are not able to get used to them either. Good for you if you can but that is not always possible.
And NO, the social media groups helped me immensely and I found others who understood. I already had cataract surgery and natural posterior vitreous detachment, so I was a good candidate for surgery. Someone should NOT suffer from this horrible scourge and be told that your outlook will make you not notice them or they will go away naturally if you can't get used to them. Surgery is a 100% cure.
