It really is the strangest thing. I'm 23 and I have around 20 floaters in each eye, it's incredibly distracting. I have had an office job for 2 years since graduating so maybe the blue light from computers? Working from home on my laptop since March. (I had my first floater in May). I find a new floater every week + experience flashes every day. The ophthalmologist just said try to ignore all the symptoms, but it's impossible. I just hope there's a solution in my lifetime. Because I feel like it's made a huge impact on my life and for the future
Thanks for sharing this Liam. That is a lot of floaters. Like you say it’s easier said than done to ignore that many floaters. I think it would make a very interesting and important research for a PHD candidate to look into. It is a different research area from work that may be done to try and treat existing floaters. We need to stop young people getting floaters in the first place. Stay positive as much as possible 🙏🏽

I have a ton of Floaters too, definitely gotten worse over time. Already had my eyes checked and they are perfectly healthy so I just have to deal with it I guess..
I am 22 years old and found out I have floaters and what they are last week. I am happy to now know that I am not the only person in my early 20s that have them
I'm currently in my mid 20s and have had floaters for as long as I can remember. I'm extremely near sighted with severe astigmatism, with my left eye being the worse of the two. I'd roughly estimate about 15-20 in my left eye and about 10 in my right eye of varying sizes. Its very annoying. Its made worse by doctors usually being dismissive of my condition. Its easy to say learn to ignore it when you don't have to live with it. 😑
I'm 20 & and i have my first floaters a years ago. After i passed from my high school in oct 2019, I took admission in college, where you don't have to go to college , you only need to give semester exams. Since I had lots of time, I started learning web developing and graphic designing. After some time lockdown happened, I started using laptops and smartphones very frequently even in Bathroom and Shower. I addicted to smartphone, also the free time goes to learning stuff that is again staring at screen.Due to lockdown my fomo becomes worse, my depression and anxiety was also high.So what I want to tell you from my experience is blue light is massive culprit to Eye Floaters , I had anxiety and depression before since I lost my dad due to disease, so I don't think stress is major issue but the amalgation of both can be serious. So my advice is stay away from blue light as much as you can, if you are reading this you are most probably an introvert who spends a lot of time with screen and has sedentary lifestyle. Change you lifestyle see beauty of nature instead of blank lifeless screen. This is happening to young people recently because before we never had people who stares at screen atleast 8 hours a day.Try to protect yourself from screen as much as possible and improve your lifestyle. As of now i rarely see any floaters , I wake up at five and go to ground for running , I changed my career ,now i don't have to stare the screen 8-9 hours a day. I didn't except it to become so long , Thanks for reading. Namaste 🙏
I am only 13 (well turning 14 this year) and I have eye floaters. I am also suffering with health anxiety, and this past weeks I am more focused on my eyes. They say it might be retinal detachment and I am scared to go blind, googling is a bad thing to do especially for me whos experiencing anxiety. Idk what to do actually, i tried to ignore them but sometimes I see myself going back to the cycle. It is really tough & scary
Firstly, if you’ve had your eyes checked thoroughly and they didn’t feel that it needed referral or treatment then that is a good sign that it is not likely to be a detaching retina. They may have advised you to look out for signs of a retinal detachment (such as lots of new floaters suddenly at once or shadows in your vision), however, that is standard advice and doesn’t necessarily mean that you will ever have a problem. Secondly, it’s always more worrying to get floaters when you are young, but I do few that young eyes are tough and despite having floaters early in life you are not at any greater risk of losing your sight. Stay positive!
Wtf im 13 too ( turning 14 this year ), having floaters and i was too , scared of potential retinal detachment but its rare and wont happen until some serious cause . I think my floaters are because of my myopia .

I've been suffering with flashes, floaters, flickering flashes after coming from outside...it has caused so much depression and anxiety in my life..I've been to the Dr.. and he said it's a retinal tuft.
@@mhmdmalkani5406 oh definitely yes. I see white circles and black ones. Almost like you don't know if it's real or if it's something your brain is making your eyes see
@@mhmdmalkani5406 well I have PVD..posterior vitreous detachment so it's like the liquid part in my eye is clumping and tugging on the back of my eye. My doctor told me that we are just going to monitor it but if it gets worse like if I notice more flashes and floaters or a curtain over my eye, to come in because my retina has detached. He told me not to engage in any strenuous exercises or sports...and I can't be hit in the head because it could cause detachment. So I've been very careful. There's a 1 in 10 chance it could detach with Pvd. So I'm just trying to be extra careful
Everywhere I research on the internet, doctors always say it's age related but I am highly skeptical of that because there seems to be a very large consensus everywhere that nearly everybody of all age groups have floaters. I'm 35 and I've had floaters since I was a little kid. It's normally nothing debilitating. Maybe a few strands or "worms" here and there but most of the time, my brain ignores them and I forget that they're even there.
People that are near sighted, like myself, could possibly suffer from floaters, pvd, and retinal issues quicker than others would. I'm 30 and already have PVD. It's something that I just had to accept. I'm currently taking vitamins and drinking plenty of water as well as limiting stress in my life
Yes it’s a shame but highly short-sighted individuals should just take a little extra care and have regular eye exams but their sight can stay well for life.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this condition. I'm suffering from this condition since 2007 and I'm 33 right now. I had medications done earlier but it didn't help. Later I accepted it and started living my life normally as it never caused other issues. It was very difficult to educate the doctors about this condition earlier. i have had floaters since I was around 18. In stressfull times I tend to see them more and when distracted and with some good sleep I see them less. When looking in the sky or white walls in a bright room, I always tend to see them. Additionally I due have a red spot in my eye for over 10 years, a doctor looked at it and told me to just check it every year. I dont feel any pain etc. but still worries me from time to time since I feel like being the only person having a permanent red spot in my eye
I started having floaters when I was really sick had a bad fever was low and the floaters started when I had a really bad migraine headache due to the high fever I had and my forehead started to hurt could not stand any light and after the fever was gone I started to see blurt with less floaters and they started to look like a 100 of tiny shadow dots with some tiny flashes but after getting my glasses the floaters have lessen but seeing them still and being stressed and worried about them symptoms have gotten worst cause I got super depressed and started getter anxious and was not eating still have not eaten started crying sometimes but for a fact I learned that when you ignored them they become more unnoticed but just find your right aimed spot to ignore them meaning find something to keep your mind alive cause I could not even be at peace when closing my eyes and I’m only 22 yrs old
Yup I can confirm head trauma does increase floaters , I played football my whole child hood and boxed , and I have an incredible amount of eye floaters almost to the point where there is not a single spot where there aren’t any . It sucks
Thanks for the info Doc. I'm 23 & I've had floaters for about 2 years. Originally they looked like dark strings, but now there's still dark strings but not as many. There's big clumps of small clear floaters mostly. I should note that I also have a lot of digestive issues too that may or may not be related in some way
I can’t really say if the digestive issues have anything to do with it. It’s probably not impossible that if you have an autoimmune condition that could be a factor.
I am 18, i got floaters about 6 months back, they were annoying but i recovered and anyone can cure it with a good lifestyle, nutritious food, proper sleep. 2020 has made us more indisciplined than ever before
You're right on .....larger blue light computer screens are the worst, but young ppl staring half the day at any type of screen cannot be good for eyehealth.
I don't think it's connected to blue light. In my case it's been connected with lack of sleep / overexert of the eyes. If you stare at the phone/laptop for prolonged period of time, you hold your eyes fixed for a lot of time and your vitreous moves less and less and it basically becomes submissive to atrophy, which floaters are the symptom of. The key is to get rid of all electronic devices, go to nature and consistently move your eyes and look around, do eye exercises each day + drink a lot of pineapple. The results will not come overnight because neither floaters appeared just out of nowhere. The process might take years depending on individual's state of the eye and genetics, but If you're not ready to do all of those things above, then be ready to make peace with your floaters. Just a note, there are cases where people report having floaters since they were basically little kids. In that case I believe their cause is purely genetics and exercises will not achieve much
You are right that when it is bad, floaters can be hard to ignore, but try and join communities of other people going through it and support each other with shared experiences and positive encouragement. It’s not easy, but don’t let yourself give up.
Wow, you have both a brilliant mind and an ability to make your science approachable to someone outside the field. That is a rare, rare gift; just this video is a gift to all of us. I'm 28 and just discovered my floaters for the first time. Thank you!
I'm skeptical it's an "age related" thing because I noticed my first one age 11 and although Ive gotten a few more over the years as an adult the vast majority of mine appeared during my teens.
I've had floaters since I was a child but after noticing them they would often go away for a long time. Perhaps I got so used to them that my brain filtered them out. But this year, 2021, One time I looked up to the sky and noticed a rather large clump of floaters. When I look at something bright its always there, for months now. They didnt go away like they did in the past. And smaller ones are appearing too, sometimes they are just a single dot but still visible. It has gotten me worried. I am 27 years old.
I got them when I was 9yrs old and stopped seeing them for years and all of a sudden I'm now 14 and it's back? I'm not understanding? How can I rid them again?

I've got it due to diabetes, it was actually the reason I've found out that I have diabetes 5 years ago, tried all of the claimed remedies out there none worked even I've changed my lifestyle and diet 5 years back with no significant change to the floaters, I decided to live with it and I can only notice it when I think about it like now :), if it get any worse blocking my vision then I will consider the laser procedure

I got scared of something few months back and started to have panic attacks after few panic attacks which put too much pressured on my eyes and in result my eye floaters developed left and more in right eye. They made me more stressed, had my eyes sight checked Dr said eyes look healthy no tear or detachment. ALHUMDULILLAH NOW im trying to cope with my anxiety and stress. Or could be the multivitamin developed my eye floaters ? Did anyone experience that?
I have eye floaters, and I definitely think it’s the blue light from the computers and phones. I have been working from home since covid hit March 2019 and the last month I have noticed floaters, I was working and on the phone or computer for 12 ours a day, with work, Markering and social combined. I just got blue light glasses, but I feel it’s too late. I am working on ways to chang my life style to cut my screen time down to at least 20 %
Hi Maya. What kind of anti-bluelight glasses are you using? I got some filter for my Screen (~90% of blue light blocking) and some glasses and use them alltogether. You had success, reducing your screen time? I guess you need your screen for daily work, right? My feeling is, that its terribly hard to reduce screen time, especially in these pandemic times.
Dear Maya! I definitely agree with you. Do you mean the blue light from phone or the elevated SAR value (or both) can be the connection to the appearance of floaters? Sorry for my English language :-)
Thanks for your video, Martin. I'll join the rest of your commenters and say I have also been seeing increasing eye floaters since late 2020/early 2021. I'm literally banging my head off a brick wall with doctors etc. In all fairness, opticians have done all they can for me and nothing serious appears to be showing up as far as they're concerned. Something serious is going on here and I've a feeling it's being somewhat covered up, imo.
Sorry to hear it’s getting that bad. Consider all the options and get advice from an understanding eye care professional, then at least you will be in a better position to decide if you should seek invasive treatment or not. I feel people maybe getting floaters due to the lockdown. Think about it, we've been forced to stay in our houses. The impact of this has forced us to work from home; using laptops. People have been using a lot more socia media apps e.g. FB, UA-cam, Instagram, zoom etc. The dreaded blue light on our devices are having a major impact on our eyes. I've also realised, many of us are probably bored at home with no distractions like friends to socialise with. This may trigger our brains to focus on the floaters more than usual. I find that when I'm doing things and socialising. I don't notice them as much.
I think this make sense. Also tinnitus has become more noticable during covid. Heard lot of people about it. I think the less distraction the more focus on these symptoms. I also experience visual snow.
I already hat many floaters in both eyes at the age of twelve and when I was twelve, there were no computer screens around. Now, many many years later I am just experiencing a really big floater in my left eye due to the detachment of the the vitreous body. Now I am hoping that time (gravity), getting used to it and maybe bromelain will reduce its size and/or opacity.
Doctor am suffering from webcomb floaters from yesterday when I change my view to light areas it getting worse am I going to blind soon ....my parents r shouting at me for using too much on games my death is near😭😭😭
I got mine eyefloaters after amphetamine overdose. Before that I never had them, for 34 years. They came along with couple flashes during following week. Fortunately eye examination and USG didn't show any damage to the eye and the floaters were invisible during those examinations. I was hoping they will disappear over time as part of the internet promised, but after 8 months they are still there, annoying the shit out of me and ruining my everyday. Let this be a lesson for the young people - intense and quick dopamine shot is not worth it.
I didn't have a phone until I was 20. We rarely used screens in school when I was a kid. I have 20/20 vision, yet I have had eye floaters as long as I could remember
Im 13 and i suddenly got eye floaters 2 weeks ago and they are the most annoying thing ever. I have 2 in the center of my eye and a bunch of them at the bottom. I cant watch anime or play video games anymore because i get distracted by them. I hate my life so much right now.
It’s tough for sure, but please try and stay positive. You’ve only had them a few weeks so it will be most annoying when they are new, hopefully with time it will be less bothersome for you or when you are older you can explore other treatment options. Don’t let floaters stop you from aspiring to great things, many people have lived with floaters and not been held back in life.
It probably because of two things; 1. In the dark your pupils are bigger and 2. In the light the floaters are more contrasted against the light environment. Try wearing sunglasses or photochromic lenses that tint automatically, this may make floaters less distracting.
I've had floaters but from last week it has gotten worse. It was never a cause of concern until now I see it everywhere when I move my head. Even in my room. Even when not looking at the sky
I have just developed one floater in my right eye, I have astigmatism. I'm only 33 and a bus driver. I literally woke up Wednesday morning with a slight blur. I assumed for many hours that my glasses needed a clean. Then as the day got darker I could see the blob. Went to hospital to have it diagnosed. Since then it has been getting worse. I'm awaiting opthalmology to check it shortly. My worry is, my driving license/pcv license. As my vision is affected. I am actually struggling to see and getting headaches. I've resulted in wearing an eye patch. I'm terrified that this means I have no job 😫
Hi Kristy, how is it going? Have they changed at all? I just noticed 2 small blurs in one eye when I read. If I look directly at a letter or number, I cannot see it. I went to 2 eye doctors. Everything else appears to be fine and yet I have no resolution. I am also 33.
I noticed my 1st eye floater at 18. Im now 31 and from then until now I have developed a few more...Because I am OCD it bothered me alot like flies. Im at a point where I am even able to see all the clear liquid aswell and its structures in certain lighting because I also have very good eyesight (eagle eye). What I have noticed after noticing the first one I noticed a few transparent one and over time those ones have become darker or more saturated. So if u ask me i think there are like floater precursers and as time goes they develop into darker shadows and become bothersome. I hope that a cure is discovered so I can enjoy being in a room with white walls or go to the beach and enjoy the views. Feel free to ask me more in my experience. I have seen many opthamologists and I have healthy eyes albeit with floaters
Thanks for sharing Reece. I follow your logic. It may be that the initial floaters you see then collect more collagen filaments and become darker as you suggest. If your floaters never got any worse, would you be comfortable living with them as they are? Or do you feel anxious about them continuing to get worse.
@@MartinTheOptometrist I think its a mind over matter situation and not a one size fits all kind of a thing. However, there are 3 major ones in my right eye and 1 major in left. I have been going to a retina specialist for the past two months, I began perceiving floaters and became annoyed and I went in to the retina specialist as it was so bothersome. Come to find out I have lattice degeneration and about a dozen holes in my peripheral retina on both eyes. He recommended we laser around the holes to basically weld down the retina to prevent detachment. I have gone for three laser treatments so far and have about 3 to go , just had one done this past Monday actually . The day of and day after there is some aching sensation and then some days later it begins itching. I am only 30 years old and my floaters have had me debating getting a vitrectomy just for floaters. My floaters are a combination of vitreous syneresis and fibers from the many holes in my retina, luckily my macula is fine and I don’t have any vision changes aside from bothersome floaters.
I am leaning towards getting a vitrectomy toward the end of the year, I do not want to waste my vital years depressed and distressed over not seeing clearly , it truly has taken the joy from my life
Remember that if you look into it and you decide at the last minute that you are not happy with any aspect of what you are hearing, you can always change your mind. It’s just that you may not get all the information until you actually explore the procedure with a specialist.
I had floaters in elementary school. I could choose to see them if I wanted to or ignore them and they'd go away. They have always looked like tiny little bubbles
Hey, have you tried %0.01 atropine sulfate eye drops? You see no eye floaters for 1-2 days since it dilates your pupil. Any thoughts? But !! get a gonioscopic evaluation of your angles before you use it to make sure you’re not a glaucoma suspect.
I haven’t tried atropine. A larger pupil can make floaters less visible, and is part of why floaters are less visible when indoors or wearing sunglasses, but more obvious outdoors or in bright light when pupils go small. Atropine is a prescription drug though and should only be issued by the appropriate professional (in the UK at least).
I am just 14 currently but I can see floaters and flashes in this year only sir please tell me why I am getting this eye floaters in this 2020 and 2021
Hey Martin, great content. Since I have eye floaters I have red a lot about them. Do you think if it is possible that they floaters could appear in people with different collagen types?
I wondered this, hypermobility spectrum disorder here and so many floaters now it's permanently distracting. Aged 47 but have always had plenty of them.
The technology to thoroughly examine the vitreous in a living eye is not fully there. Ultrasound scans are currently used in research environments. I used to own fancy 3D eye scanning tech in my previous practice called an OCT, but even that couldn’t give a complete scan of the vitreous. Good question though, and I know some research workers are looking at adapting and innervating new ways to better assess the health of the vitreous for research purposes.
Thank you for this, Martin, very well researched! I was wondering whether sleep is playing a role here in modulating hyalocyte function. Blue light from phones may not be a direct cause. However, blue light may be causing sleep problems in individuals. Sleep problems are being reported more over the past several years, particularly during the pandemic. Also, it is well known how much sleep problems compromise immune system function. I speculate that there maybe a relationship here worth exploring between hyalocyte turnover and issues to do with sleep (perhaps also mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress).
Thanks Daryl, it’s appreciated. Yeah, good call on sleep and blue light, I didn’t think too much about that possible connection. I imagine that the cumulative impact of ongoing poor sleep will impact a lot of things, including the build up of free-radicals that could play an important part in damaging cells such as hyalocytes. Definitely worth a deeper dive into the theory.
Appreciate Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Franaar Spectacular Look Formula (do a google search)? It is a good one of a kind guide for curing eye floaters without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my work buddy at very last got astronomical success with it.
I am 34 years old, on my left eye after I gave birth I started to have a weiss ring. There is a point and a circle. I went to doctor and they gave me Lysin to use, after 1 year I have now on my left eye as well some black points and eye floaters. I am afraid they will be more and more, I can live with them I just want to stop this! Facts: I am looking to pc screen more than 15 hours everyday last 6-7 years I think this is the main issue.
I was on anti-HCV drugs (DAAs) on my mid 30s, when I developed suddenly floaters. It became just for 1 day. I was very very thirsty and I was on sun, when I get them. Later I found that when I cured my chronic HCV, I already had another condition - hyperparathiroidism - I had high calcium, and it was even higher on these drugs. So I think it is somehow connected with calcium, and younger poeple doesnt exercise very much, so their calcium is higher.
I've had eye floaters since january 26th 2021 and they can be annoying as hell. I got it checked out a week after noticing it and there's no cause for concern unless flashes of light happens or a curtain appears in my vision.

Why is the research into floaters so sparse at the moment? Is it because it's traditionally more common in older people? Now it's getting more common in younger people, will there be more effort to research and find a cure?

I meant that it is not a side effect that you would find in text books but, yes people have reported floaters though. If there are any complications such as when creating the corneal flap, heavy-handed use of suction or even an error with the laser then extra floaters or new floaters could form.

Hi Andrei, you definitely should get it examined first of all. Try and overcome the fear and get it looked at by a professional, then you will have a better idea what you are dealing with.

Could be a lot of factors contributing to eye floaters in younger people. Eating certain foods, drinking beverages that may not be healthy and of course exposure to computers, cell phones etc. 5G is also not helping I'm sure. I never had one floater until last year (just before Thanksgiving). I had a bad cold, went to bed early, saw a flash (thought it was a migraine headache coming on) and when I woke up the next day I couldn't see...there was so much junk floating around in my eye that it scared the living daylights out of me. I immediately went to the eye doctor. He did NOT make me feel any better about it, told me that it was "normal" in someone my age (I'm 68) and dismissed me. I was so upset at his cavalier attitude. What until it happens to him !!! It has taken almost 4 months now for me to be able to see somewhat normally. The floaters appear to be shrinking in size but unfortunately, remain almost dead center in my eye which blocks my vision. Sometimes it will shift to the right and drop a bit. I hope that they shink even more and eventually drop into the bottom of the vitreous (at least that's what I was told would happen). It can take up to one year for that to occur unfortunately. I do not believe it matters what age you are...these are horrid to experience at all. With all of the treatments out there, why has no one come up with something better for eye floaters??? Getting them lasered is NOT something I would even consider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear this. You’re right, floaters are horrible at any age. Hopefully the more attention we can raise about the misery it’s causing people, the more likely that investment will flow into treatment research.
I got it last year when I wasn't even 22....I went to two doctors but they weren't able to guess my problem...they dismissed it as dry eye disease but I myself made an assessment of my situation.....Gosh !! it's more than one and a year half but still I find them quite irritating.....
Oke so im 16 and have eye floaters in mainly my right eye, now im probably going to an eye dictor to double check but im scared it might be a retinal detachment. I hate surgeries so id be scared to death if i have one (since i need surgery to stop me from going blind). I mostly notice them while looking at brighter objects or in the car. So HELP I NEED HELP CUZ IM SCARED
If you have had them for some time and it’s not changing, then it’s less likely to be linked to retinal detachment. Getting checked out is the best next step to take.
Not sure if my floaters are due to diet. My diet is fair but I tend to skip meals because I’m busy. I started noticing my floaters about a month ago and during this time I was super busy and and stressed. I really neglected myself nutrition wise. One day I noticed a lot of small black dots in my vision. I went to an ophthalmologist and they did a dilated exam and saw everything looked good and suggest vitreous degeneration. I started drinking more water and I haven’t noticed them like that since. I also went for a follow up appointment 5 weeks later, they dilated me again and assured my retina looked good (different dr this time too). I was also getting migraines. Now I mainly see them when I look for them. Of course praying they don’t get any worse or led to a threatening condition. Plus I’m also considering the SMILE eye procedure. Don’t know how I feel about it quite yet. I’m pretty sensitive about my eyes right now. But we’ll see.
Hi Ari, thanks for sharing your experience. Floaters are, honestly still a mystery in many ways, particularly in young people. A lot of research is needed, but I wouldn't be surprised if nutrition does play a significant role. I'm glad to hear that your floaters aren't associated with any retinal problems.
I started seeing one floater on Jan 1st, and the got to see more and more. Either something happened or they were there and my brain was ignoring them. Started to see them after a stressful 31 Dec 2019, since my mother died last year and i was feeling sad after the fact. So either they got triggered by stress, or my brain reseted and stopped filtering. They did not find anything at all in my eyes, pretty crazy stuff. Have like 20 floaters, and see like 5 or 10 depending on light conditions. (Both eyes!).

Could there be a correlation between the covid vaccine and increase of eye floaters and other visual disturbances? I am 63 years old and with me it started immediately after at my first jab (VA). Within days I started having flashes of light and sudden increase in eye floaters that could not be explained away through CT scans or MRI or numerous eye exams with dilation.
Doctor i consulted eye doctor before 15 days they said no issue with my eyes I just have an dry eye and gave me drops for dry eyes. And now I have floaters when I see bright thing. Does dry eye cause eye floaters?
Floaters is not usually associated with dry eyes. If you can call you clinic to explain your symptoms, they can advise you if you should come back in. Obviously, if things get worse seek urgent eye care.
I also have dry eyes and my floaters appeared while I have dry eye, I'm actually curious whether they are connected? I just hope they would lessen over time and would not increase more
I'm 69 and got my first floater about 18 years ago, they are not too bad right now but sometimes more noticeable therefor irritating than other times. I used to vigorously rub my eyes, I wonder if that may have had anything to do with it?
I’d like to think that our eyes are more robust than that, but depending on factors like whether your are highly short-sighted, then I Imagine that it could be a possibility that very vigorous eye rubbing regularly over a stretch of time could pose a risk of creating floaters. I can’t say that it’s what caused yours, as it may still be more likely chance.
Hey docter I have just experienced flashes at the corner of my eye a few days ago and I want to ask if flashes of light can cause eye floaters later on in my life?
Thank you Barry. The mechanism by which Roaccutane may cause eye related side effects is not fully clear, but it has been reported to cause such problem as dry eyes. There’s even mention of cataract and it can do that, then floaters may be a possibility. It’s not an official reported side effect though. It’s an interesting line of thought, but I suspect we are seeing far more cases of floaters in young people than can be attributed to medications like roaccutane alone though.
You are noticing a change in the shadow of your blood vessels in the eye. This then makes them noticeable for a second or two as lines or cracks in your view.
@@LizardMane well there a cure by eating pinneple for it right now but I’ll dealing with them since I was 13 my brain just been adapted to them just perfectly fine no problems

Namaste 🙏
hey how is your floaters now?

How are they now
Hi! I recently had floaters surgery and it was quick and successful.
How are you doing? Fully recovered?
hi can I ask why i barely notice my floaters in the dark but when full light its all there its frustrating
It probably because of two things; 1. In the dark your pupils are bigger and 2. In the light the floaters are more contrasted against the light environment. Try wearing sunglasses or photochromic lenses that tint automatically, this may make floaters less distracting.
Thank you so much, I will be getting new glasses in few days

I've had floaters but from last week it has gotten worse. It was never a cause of concern until now I see it everywhere when I move my head. Even in my room. Even when not looking at the sky
New sudden cases of floaters should be checked out by your eye care professional. Please that if you haven’t, just for your piece of mind.

I am also 33.
could theoretically taking hyaluronic acid supplements stabilize them?
Good questions, all I can say is that I’ve come across a few patients that have been prescribed it by their ophthalmologists following floaters/PVD.
I’m still looking at what we know about them and I will probably talk more about it in future videos. Good question though.
Martin Oguzie looking forward to it! Thank you for giving this issue attention, there's been so much limited information and research so far unfortunately
Boy this transparent bubble is very normal 😡

Hey Martin, great content. Since I have eye floaters I have red a lot about them. Do you think if it is possible that they floaters could appear in people with different collagen types?
Thank you. Not sure on that, I can't think of an obvious link unless there is any association with connective tissue disease.
Thanks for this helpful information.
I wondered this, hypermobility spectrum disorder here and so many floaters now it's permanently distracting. Aged 47 but have always had plenty of them.
Any method to check vitreous gel health??
The technology to thoroughly examine the vitreous in a living eye is not fully there. Ultrasound scans are currently used in research environments. I used to own fancy 3D eye scanning tech in my previous practice called an OCT, but even that couldn’t give a complete scan of the vitreous. Good question though, and I know some research workers are looking at adapting and innervating new ways to better assess the health of the vitreous for research purposes.
Hey I was wondering Why are the peripheral eye floaters darker than most of the center floaters ? Im just curious and would really like to know
Damn I never noticed but mine are the same
@@LizardMane I seen an eye doctor and she told me they’re normal and could be random

Dr hyruronicacid eyedrop can increase or decrease the number of floters?

Thanks for the video, Martin - great information. In your opinion, would isotretinoin (Roaccutane) use in young adults lead to vitreous floaters?
Thank you Barry. The mechanism by which Roaccutane may cause eye related side effects is not fully clear, but it has been reported to cause such problem as dry eyes. There’s even mention of cataract and it can do that, then floaters may be a possibility. It’s not an official reported side effect though. It’s an interesting line of thought, but I suspect we are seeing far more cases of floaters in young people than can be attributed to medications like roaccutane alone though.
