No other world religion/worldview is as good to women as Christianity. I’m all for real chivalry because it comes from a place of respect and value.

Absolutely! I was brainwashed into believing Christianity was harmful and degrading to women until i picked up The Bible and read it myself to discover just the opposite. Christianity teaches us how important and precious the role of women and true femininity is, as i grow in my faith i grow in my feminine power and ability and honour the position The Lord calls me to have in my family and society. In Islam and Hinduism, the woman walks behind her husband at a distance with the children. This reinforces the leadership role of the husband and father over the family. Most Western women (even Christians) find this offensive. However, I can pretty much guarantee this is how Abraham and Sarah acted and it is likely that Mary walked behind Joseph.
This one is actually a pretty common one for me. My wife has neuropathy in her feet and dislikes heights, so it's distinctly safer for me to walk behind/in front of her in the respective scenarios.
I also wanted to say that, per Philippians 4:5, Doug's gentleness is quite evident here. God Bless him richly.

And many non-Christians will twist this around and say the Bible is sexist... Heck, many CHRISTIANS will twist this around, and take the preceding verse "Wives, honour your husbands" and neglect the verse right after that says "Husbands, honour your wives". We must always be vigilant :)

I read on the web a woman is like a glass chandelier... fragile, but beautiful and precious. One could build it strong.. weld a steel frame, build it out of thick wood, but it wouldnt be beautiful or precious to us. We honour what is precious to us. A Womans beauty is her soft fragility, like a flower. We take care of flowers and do not think of them as weak, but only as beautiful, precious and how sad it would be if they didnt exist.

Watching this again after a few years. It occurs to me that another intrinsic weakness of women is related to their particular part in human reproduction. The menstrual cycle, pregnancy, post-partum recovery, and breastfeeding cause women to be indisposed in various degrees to the kind of laborious tasks involved in certain occupations, warfare, and travel (real travel not combustion engines strapped to lay-z-boys travel) etc.. This weakness is a glorious thing, and of course deserves honor. While on the subject of the relationship between women's weakness and honor I would suggest that the physical weakness of the female body, it's softness if you will, is directly related to feminine beauty. The masculine body is not beautiful precisely because of it's hardness. Even the trans people understand this. Which is why so called "trans men' seek to pad out particular areas of their bodies. When Peter says to Honor the weaker vessel. Referring to your wife.
Does this not mean to PROTECT.
When we Honor something or someone do we not Protect it.
Like the Honorable Judge or The Honorable President.
People in Honorable positions, are they not protected from enemies.
Similarly, we Honor the weaker vessel. Women because they are in position of Honor. They are The Glory of Man who is the Glory of God.

No disagreement with your insights, but I think it's vitally important to this conversation to include the first command in the text, as it brings clarity to the phrase 'showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel'. '7...husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way...' - I don't think it's likely that would have been necessary to say if the 'weakness' he had in mind was physical, especially in those days when the 'strength' of women was NEVER depended upon. The requirement for understanding by husbands clearly points to emotional & cognitive differences between men and women.
Within and without marriage this subject takes various turns. Within and without Church circles this takes different forms. Basically strength vs weakness is realized through living empirically I say. You'll see

You ever done a study of the word cherish? Where is the balance to where you cherish a wife without tipping scale in making her feel like she is now to be reverenced and become the center of universe?

I believe in the inerrant scriptures, but its rather hard to apply the weaker vessel theology in the US in 2023. Its been my experience that that women are hardly weak now. Most men I know are terrified of their wives who have the whip hand over them thanks to the divorce laws. Men are ciphers in the home and have no power at all. My fine Christian wife divorced me for failing to obey her orders and virtually ran off with my last penny after being viscious with me for years. Maybe the weakness the apostle was talking about was the half-insane emotions and irrationality that most women are burdened with.
I've always understood that this passage shouldn't focus just the word weaker, but must include the vessel as well. Thus "weaker vessel" is not so much about the "weakness" of women as much as comparing a sturdy but rather dull clay jar (men) to a finer, more valuable but fragile porcelain jar (women). Thus honoring the wife is not about her weakness, but her value.
Biblically the husband (the man) is NOT seen as a dull crude "jar" as compared to the fine porcelain of a woman. Biblically, the man is seen as the prototype of the human from which the woman is drawn. Man is, therefore, the glory of God, whereas woman is the glory of man. This concept is so strong in the Bible that St. Paul states that it is offensive for women to uncover their heads in God's holy presence in the church. Of course, Protestant Evangelicals, being such strong "Bible believing Christians" that they ignore this strong biblical teaching and allow women to flaunt their uncovered heads in God's presence in worship. St. Paul indicates that this offends the angels, but modern Christians are more immersed in Fourth Wave Feminism than Biblical Christianity.

I think God made women a little less warrior-like so men would automatically want to protect women. In turn, we woman need physically stronger 'warriors' and/or 'wealth building' men so we can feel secure as we have and raise our children. Of course there are exceptions to typical males and females, and we need to have room in our society for 'misfits' without making them feel wrong or lesser creatures. Humans, religious or humanist, tend to like to 'cull' misfits out of their 'tribe'. This is wrong of course, but, a very real human tendency.
My wife and I have been married 25 years as of last week. Why? My mother told me that if I do what my wife tells me to do, everything will be fine.
I asked if she had to do what I asked. My mother said, "No, because she's in charge."
That's not good advice. That sounds (at face value) as a relationship involving a weak man, which women instinctively hate. Even Genesis talks about how after the fall women will wish to rule and hold authority over men. (Or at least their husbands)

Chivalry tradition is mostly just show. Just like God, women don’t like a works based relationship either…at least not mine.
The origin of the tradition of the man walking on the outside is twofold.
1. The streets were muddy and full of manure, the person on the outside was far more likely to be splashed.
2. In the event of trouble, it is far easier to protect someone who is between you and the wall, than someone between you and the attacker.
It is not perfect, but it is a custom that reminds us of the principle that the function of strength is to protect and preserve, not to make life easier for the strong.

I agree with your destination, but differ a bit with your route. The word is not weak-ness, but weak-er. One of you in this video is looking for "the weakness." The idea is delicate, fragile. She is more like a valuable and delicate piece of China than a plastic tumbler. Think of the handling of and uses for each. Quite a difference. Clearly one is special, the other, common. Honor, protect from violence, take special care for. I think: Weak-er in certain ways, but strong in ways we men often do not take note of.
So why does God allow the women to live an average of 7 years longer than a man? So much elder abuse these days! That’s why God commands us to protect the widows and fatherless because they are vulnerable.
Consider Paul's perspective in 1 Timothy 2 the weakness being gullibility so to speak.

1 Timothy 2:14 clearly says that Adam was not deceived.
1 Tim 2:14...."Women was deceived not Adam". simply means that because she was deceived she must take a subordinate role. It's part of her punishment for being deceived. It does not mean that she is more gullible. If she has the Holy Spirit she is as wise and discerning as any man. And when it comes to this passage of scripture, she is more wise and discerning than some men here.

I get your point that women are strong in many ways and would agree if we were to get into the specifics of it all. However, to send a woman into war when their enemies are men, is to give our enemy a thing to exploit, which is in the case, basic biology. What you have formed is a straw man. @@Parks179-h what I have a problem with is this messed up ideology that wants to put a theological basis behind women being inherently inferior to men when I've seen it to be demonstrably untrue. It's at best a generalization that people take way too far and at worst an excuse to treat people differently based on what they have between their legs. This is an all volunteer force nobody is shipping women off involuntarily to fight on the front lines women are now allowed into combat roles that they previously weren't allowed into. B. My mother made sure I was a Methodist. She also turned my father into a Methodist. If we take the Scripture seriously then we should notice in the creation story that woman was made for man and not the other way around. St. Paul, of course, reiterates this. Hence, the woman's divinely appointed role is to help and assist the man. Modernity gets this exactly backwards and contemporary Christian teaching buys into the secularist notion that a man is to serve his wife and meet her needs. This is a prescription for societal disaster. At least Muslims are right on this issue.
You are not correct. If you look at Paul's instructions to men - a man is to care, nurture, feed, clean, even give up his life for her. A woman being a help meet is more than "assistant", it is his rescue. If you value how an errant religion treats women, you really are on the wrong track.

This means that one of the requirements of headship is being able to guide your family spiritually which is to apply God's standards. It pains me to suffer through your videos. The feminized Church has been shaped by the world and has diverged so far from the word of God that it can only be described as heresy. Personally, I don't know a single Christian, man or woman, who would not be offended by your videos. I don't know a single Church whose leadership would not cringe at your "confrontational" approach. Women, we are told, are strong and independent. Women don't need a man or want chivalry. Even the women who claim to reject feminism are more feminist than Christian. Our culture has become so feminized that it is like water to a fish. Few people realize just how many feminist ideas (anti-Biblical) they have absorbed. Feminism is killing, not just the West's Judeo-Christian heritage, but the Church itself.

We're able to survive larger amounts of stress and famine longer. While you have physical strength, we have endurance. Yes, physical strength was given to males to protect the female during childcare to ensure reproduction, but that was it. When we're not giving birth or caring for a child, we don't need that. We're independent, and we can fight our own battles, because we're not in the vulnerable state of pregnancy. Our immune systems, endurance, and stress capacity is higher because we're designed to survive it all for the sake of being able to care for offspring. As for more surviving females in the womb with less chance of genetic disorders, that just has to do with having two x chromosomes. Having just one is essential for life. The longer lifespan has to do with multiple factors and the fact that females take less risks, because we know health is important for beating offspring. Even for those of us who aren't bearing offspring, that natural instinct and those abilities are still in us today.

Paul does not say to honor women as weaker vessels. It says to live according to understanding with them as weaker vessels. We honor them as fellow heirs of grace. This is NOT honoring a fragile vase because the honor is tied to its value as a fragile item.
Different translations use honor. Such as the geneva Bible.
It would be helpful if you extracted the distinction and explained why you think Doug is incorrect.

The distinction is that honor is not tied to her being weaker. Doug uses a fragile artifact as an example of something we honor because of its characteristics. But that is not what the text is saying. We honor her because she is a co-heir, not because she is weaker. Her weakness is tied to man's obligation to live with her in an understanding way.
"Live with an alcoholic in an understanding way, honoring him as a brother in Christ." That doesn't mean I honor him because he's an alcoholic. It means I need to be understanding of his situation. The honor is tied to him being a Christian.
