    This completely describes how I feel about learning how to draw, write, and plan for my comic. It is so stressful to do when you start learning how to draw late. That's not to say that I regret any of it, but I do wish I would've began earlier despite my insecurities on how to draw. If you're young and feel like you can't draw, start now. You won't regret it, it only gets harder in the long run.

    Princess Mononoke for life!!
    I've experienced the first part, with the small water glass, after giving birth, when I suddenly realized how much time I've been using up on not necessary things like scrolling. Right then I didn't have much time, actually no free time at all, and yet I magically managed to do everything I planned. Not straight away obviously, there were some pity parties over no time for pinterest scroll time :D I've actually managed to squeeze out my non existent free time so much I've completed both Inktober and Huevember on the same year! I still don't know how that happened. Unfortunately, I *kinda* lost this ability with time :')

    These are great analogies for the struggle of sitting down and working on the comic! I definitely relate to the time analogy because it really does seem to disappear as we get older haha! Great vid, man😎🤜🏽

    "We're inherently silly creatures, and that's why we love comics." love it. Great video, preparation and keeping things ready to just start definitely can greatly aid in instantly jumping in and truly utilizing time

    That's a good piece of advice, but I still can't understand how you can make an entire page in 3 hours...

    • @BrinkleyComics
      @BrinkleyComics  2 місяці тому +2

      4 hours, not 3. That's the average time it takes me. Some as little as 2 and others as much as 6. It largely depends on the level of detail that's required.
      It's also why having a style that takes ages to pull off isn't always the best when it comes to comics.

      Gently jumping in- main take away I got was that by having things ready to start working instantly (having a planner with also all the notes and tools you need in one place so you're not searching everywhere) aids you to utilize that 30 min more effectively than spending 5 min looking for your file/ what page you're on, spending another 10 to figure out what brushes you used, another 5-10 pulling up your reference sheets, and oh look, you spent 20 minutes just prepping.
      I would personally be interested in an actual inking/penciling process vid though since 4 hours for 1 page down from 12 is pretty great.

      Yep that's spot on.
      And yeah if people are interested in how I pencil and ink I'll be happy to go through my process. It is a little odd though so I'm not sure how useful it'd be for a wider audience.

      @@BlackHayateTheThird I second this. So if you now make a 12 hour work in 4 hours, that'd mean you can make a 3 hour work in 1 hour, then you play it at double speed and you have a 30 minute video we can all watch and learn! just suggesting! :)

    when you say 'finish' does that mean colouring and lettering?

    • @BrinkleyComics
      @BrinkleyComics  2 місяці тому

      No this is just for linework.

      @@BrinkleyComics ah okay. how long does it take finish coloring it?

    • @BrinkleyComics
      @BrinkleyComics  2 місяці тому

      @matocajsa9096 right now I'm not colouring it. As I mentioned in a previous comment I do things a little bit weird. I'm doing all the linework and then going back to the start to colour. I'll be making videos about that process (and why I'm doing it) in the coming weeks.
