Another nice feature of this type of bridge is that it can be made "modular" ! It is also interesting the Leonardo da Vinci's self-supporting cable-stayed bridge that rotates in the center of the river.
The beauty of this design is that every joint is under compression.

@@SR-yq6zo apparently, Lu Ban (born in 507 BC), a widely refered and deified carpenter in the chinese culture, learned it from da vinci and he made sure, that da vinci's ancient bridge like this exist everywhere in china.. the chinese call it rainbow bridge coz they think da vinci's bride very beautiful just like rainbow.. one of the most famous painting in china, "Qīngmíng Shànghé Tú" the original painting by the Song dynasty painter Zhang Zeduan (1085-1145) depicted this da vinci's invention very well.. and also, china copied everything.. including pasta.. they call it noodle..
