Ed, I hope your time at home was relaxing. After such a long work shift, you pulled last time. As you have told us, you love the winter months, and time riding your sleds so much. Safe travels to and from work with winter setting in.
Hey, Ed, don’t work to hard and try not to be gone so long this time. We check several times a week to see if you’re back and posted something new. Take care of yourself.
We've been busy after that hurricane came through. Times flies, Ed. We're around your age, sir. The month will fly by and you'll be helicoptering back into home. We hope to see some great game footage! Take care & God bless! 🇺🇸
@@goingagainstthegrain There should be some good trail cam footage I hope. Hopefully less grizzly bears this next check. They were plentiful this summer.
As always, good quality! Winterizing the cabin is always like a new season upon us. Things are different, or that's my feelings. Exciting and yet somber. May we see the next video, and everything is just as you left it! (except for a new sled in the front yard)
I’m hoping all the lakes and creeks are frozen solid and there is around 3 feet of snow or better since that sled needs to come out by trail. This hitch should go by quickly.
I found alone in remote Alaska today while at work. She just mentioned you. Here I am! Can't wait to have time to see your videos! I love how you used solar panels as part of your deck. We're in escrow going off grid in California so if it completes, we need to fix the deck.
Hey Ed. When you are ready to haul in your construction supplies this winter my brother and I both have wide track machines and we would help you haul in your supplies just for an adventure trip. If you’re interested in the free help Adam from Cut the cord knows how to get ahold of me.
@MountainMariner When l worked l drove 10 to 12 hours a week. Loved where l lived though, retired early! Now on 6 acres, see an occasional plane. I did like my job l had in the city.
Well planned and executed shut down for the cabin. You will be glad to have that wood chopped and ready to burn when you get home. Probably a little bummed to leave the mountain but also great to return to the sea! Don't work too hard!

Another awesome video :) Yes hate to leave a beautiful spot like that, Suck a peaceful place but safety first 👍, Before you know it you'll be back :) Take care
Ed, great video, I really enjoyed you showing us how you shut down the cabin. You should make of video of you cooking, I bet you a pro in the kitchen. Be safe on the water and we will see you in a month.
Well, that break went fast. I don't know how you can leave it every couple of weeks. Always good to see you and your videos. Lake water level looks a little low. Stay safe out there. Let's hope it's not 2 months before you make it back.
I guess if you can't be on top of a mountain, out at sea is the next best place...especially for the upcoming few weeks. Hope you're only away for a month this time. Cool shirt BTW. Take good care 😊
Ed, Watching that wood get chopped was satisfying. How long did you need to plug that axe in overnight to charge it up?? Ha Other things I noticed.. did you put a playing card on the wind generator?? It DOES make it sound faster..cool! Thanks for making the videos. It shows how to live off grid with confidence and comfort. Im kind of a "City Slicker" myself (remember that 80s movie w Billy Crystal?) .. when Curly said "I can crap bigger n' you".. that spoke to me!.. Btw.. you know how when you swing the axe and miss, and the axe handle hits your shin with full force? I HATE that.. (one of the reasons I opt for natural gas heating) Oh yeah... one other thing.. when the helicopter came in for a landing the theme from M*A*S*H played in the back of my head.. Be careful out in them woods, it can be a warzone! Keep up the good fight and hope all is well up in the great white north..
Ed, will you be away for 1 or 2 months? Just don't want to be concerned if you are MIA. LOL Do enjoy your homestead videos as it is so beautiful there except those darn 🐻 🐻...😟
Hopefully only one month. If a bear ever gets me I won't have a boring death. My headstone will have a cool inscription: "Here lies Ed, a bear mauled him and now he's dead."
@@MountainMariner OMG I hope that never happens. Sure hope the Michells are able to assist in transporting your building supplies. They seem to be good people. Try not to work too hard while away....Be safe..
Would an electric fence surrounding the outside of your house work to prevent the destruction and shredding of tarps etc? I know you have it around your deck and that seems to do well. Just wondering.
@@MountainMariner I can see that as an issue. Aside from the obvious issue of getting it all up there, what about temporary posts like a t-post set in a concrete filled tire? Or maybe 2 t-posts welded in an X as a base and then another welded vertically. That would provide a fairly windproof, light(er) weight solution that you could move. Obviously a bear could push it over but that’s where voltage comes in 😁
Hey Ed, That German lantern is supposed to arrive between October 31st to November 6th 🎉 forgive me for asking.. what are the dimensions of the cabin? Be safe out there.!

Fencing is a difficult thing on rock. Doable but at great expense.
