Most K1 boxers seems to suffer a common hip disease besides Buakaw and Petrosyan. Most of them suffer a disease that they cannot lift their legs above their waist and that is why they can only throw low kicks.
Souwer lift his leg pretty well and you can see it in a lot of match. He use the technic of the decalage from Savate to get more precision but throwing less high kick than a Thai or a normal kickboxer
K1 boxers tend to use mostly low kicks simply because they are more or less the only reliable ones in a realistic fight against an opponent of similar skill. Higher kicks are slower and they leave you extremely exposed when the hit doesn't land. You can use them effectively when the skill gap between fighters is wider so that one is blatantly faster/stronger than the other; not when you have some strong opponent ready to punish you hard.
Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation. I remember a very old time kick boxer Toshio Fujiwara was very powerful with the punch too. He was the first non-Thai to beat a reigning Thai champion.
