  • Tips on how to keep your glasses from sliding down your nose.
Dr. Jones from Advanced Family Eyecare in Spanish Fork, Utah shares some tips on how to prevent your glasses from slipping.
0:48 1. Nerd Wax! You can find this on Amazon. Put a bit on the bridge of the glasses and it really helps.
1:10 2. Shrink Tubing! You can find this at Harbor Freight for $1.50. Slip some on the temples. Use a blow dryer to shrink it down. Get it to 150 degrees. This really helps keep your glasses from slipping.
1:50 3. Let us adjust them. We can adjust the back temple to stop the sliding.

If the back of the frame is plastic or the nose part is plastic it has a high chance of sliding down from face oils and sweat
What I do is uses double sided foam pads on the side of my glasses to prevent it from slipping
Alternatively you can sand the nose parts a little bit to remove the smooth layer and it can grip your nose well
Finally you can manually screw the screw that's on the hinges overtime these screws come loose and a simple tightening can help

Right there where your arm connects to your glasses I made mistake and set on them while he was folded up and they kind of bent right there in the screw came out and I'm trying to line them back up but I can't line them back up because of some fact that hold that the screw slides to the glasses on the arm that spring in it won't release enough where I can line the screw up

I have a question I don't know if the doctor can answer this because the videos a couple years old but for the shrink tubes I see that some of them have adhesive inside of them and are they still going to be easy to be removed off without damaging the arms of the glasses and would the adhesive in the shrink tubes be easy to be removed?

Shouldn’t the eye care place adjust it properly so we don’t have to use those products

Ehh.. Adjustments aren't always permanent. They're just adjustments. My glasses were fit to me the most perfectly I've ever had a new pair done at my new eye place about this time last year. ( For reference I've been blind asf since about the 5th grade) Now theyre loosened up quite a lot. Shit happens.

    • @paulweston8184
      @paulweston8184 2 роки тому +2

Exactly. Name one eye care place that doesn't adjust the glasses you purchase from them. That is an optician's job. Either this Dr doesn't have trained optician's fitting people with eyewear or he just doesn't talk to them. I'm kinda shocked that he would even recommend heatshrink tubing. Who wants to put heatshrink tubing on a pair of designer glasses.

    • @paulweston8184

@@ifyoutubedeletes1morevideo880 That's when you go back and get them readjusted. Maybe you're so used to just dealing with it like when you were in the fifth grade, that nobody told you to just go back and get them readjusted. lol. Ehh. Seriously?

Another thing that works great for me is what NOT to do. You really don't want to fold your glasses. I just lay them down unfolded. When you fold your glasses it weakens the firmness

I mainly had them adjusted so it wouldn't slide down my nose so bad. I was more worried that they would fall off my face when I have to bend down to pick up something. I mainly noticed them sliding down a little bit if my face gets oily.

Most pads are made out of PVC, a harder and smooth material. Switching those to silicone pads often gives you a better hold due to the silicone being more sticky.
One thing you should keep in mind is that due to silicone being softer sweat and cosmetica get to the padarm quicker to form verdigris.

I wear readers at work (Dental field). If and when my glasses begin sliding down my nose, I take a very small loop of a thin rubber band. Double it up, sometimes triple it, slide it onto each arm of your glasses and work it along the arm up to and into the hinged area of your glasses up by the frame. (Ortho bands work great). When you open up the arms, the arms don't quite open up as far as the rubber band acts as a stop. Which has some "give" due to it being rubber, so it's not a rigid stop to cause any damage to the glasses. So the result is a slightly tighter fit of the arms toward the sides of your head. For me...problem solved! :) The key is a very small thin rubber band on each side in the hinged area of the arms. Works perfect.
