And they were singing that WHILE playing different instruments, and did it live for countless concerts.
Harmonies are what made early Beatles amazing.
John had the trickier harmony to sing...a perfect duet
Lennon + McCartney = otherworldly alchemy, where the whole is more than just the sum of the individual parts. Just incredible.
There just isn't a rock voice like John's.
Maybe the best rock singer.

A gift to humanity.
Still and always my favorite Beatle track since I heard it at the movies summer of 64. The Beatles were many things but in my opinion, especially at the beginning, they were about John and Paul’s voices. There are no words that can adequately describe the vocal harmonies of these men barely out of their teens. Will never be replicated and will be enjoyed in 100 years.

@@tylercass2584 Do you agree that when Paul sings the line,,"Was in vain" he cuts off a little early.? However, Still the most beautiful song I have ever heard, probably ever will.
@@MrKewaigue Paul's voice cracked as he tried to hit the high note. It was fixed in the mono version of the song by editing, but left as it was for stereo release
@@robtaylor5310 Hello Rob. Many thanks for you reply, Very much appreciated. You are the first person to agree with me regarding Paul's minor mistake whilst singing "If I fell. It was, and still is my my absolute favourite song of all time. I had noticed this minor error when I played a played a stereo version of a Beatles selection of their most popular recordings, which I bought for my wife around 1979. I was certain I had heard it played "perfectly" years previously. Just out of interest, are you a Beatles fan?
@@MrKewaigue Hi Mike, very much a Beatles fan, yes. There is also another slight "error" right at the start of the song, when John sings "If I fell in love with you..." the vocal is double-tracked, but it is slightly out of sync in stereo, in mono I think it was somehow corrected

I just don’t know how they left Paul’s error - 2nd “Was in vain” - today it would be easy to correct, but at that time, just recording again

You're right. JPM just couldn't stretch his voice a second time. JPM had almost a three octave voice range, but the "in vain" was really outside of comfortable. He could have gone an octave lower, and perhaps he should have because that part jars with me. Wonderful voices all the same for having not being trained professionally. JPM especially....

Lennon and JPM certainly could harmonize brilliantly. Trouble is, that's all they did. The backing track which is being piped in via headphones was all done by sessions musicians.
They don't record by standing there playing their instruments and singing. It was broken up into sections. They learned the words, written by someone else. They had to learn the words, the phrasing, the breathing etc and then when they had the song down pat, they cobbled it together and mixed it all down.
Manufactured band, just like many others working to a Tavistock script. Meteoric rise from a grass roots pub band? All engineered to be spectacularly successful from the get go....

It's not the vocal track you just isolated the vocals.
That's what the vocal track is!
Correct. They learn the words, get the breathing and phasing right and then sing, with the backing track piped in through headphones. The backing track is usually done first so the singer can keep time. They don't stand in front of the mikes playing their instruments and singing at the same time...
