It happens to these cars. My 89 hatch needed everything at one point. My brother did front shocktowers a decade ago. Both foot wells were rotted out. My brother repaired one side. Then i did the other when i became the owner, bothocker panels were replaced on both sides. The rear frame rails had to be completely cut out. I had to fabricate my own rails. Even a couple holes in the spare tire area. The lower sections of the quarter panels were. Even had stress cracks between the floor and the rocker, from the car's days from the drift track. Its something I would do for myself. But id never want to do it for a customer and someones else's car. Heck i probably would never sell the car in its current state, even though it feels secure. It wouldnt feel right dumping it on someone else.
Please follow up with the continuation of Janes story. It's pretty neat storyline and i'm looking forward to what y'all can work out to get her back into a Manual V-8 foxbody!
Definitely the right call. I understand the sentimental end of it completely but at the end of the day much better off going this direction and you can always use parts from the original car. Excellent video looking forward to seeing the finished project.
OMG! Michigan toxicity! Thank you for everything Chris. And thank you folks for your comments. I wanted the resto SO bad. But I get it. Mmm 5 speed, weeeeeee. 30 yrs worth. 😢
Hard decision for you and Jane but definitely the right one. Kudos to you for your integrity and honesty in looking out for your customers. Fairly new subscriber and you’re becoming my favorite creator very fast. Just don’t see this level of integrity these days. 🤙🤙🤙
those rear floor pans are usually rotted out ...me i like to drill a hole in the rear pan plug right in the middle ....it rots out it pops out and a new metal plug OR the carpet get wet it rotts the whole thing out.
Wow I bought a 92 black 5.0 5speed notch complete car that's rusted for parts and it's no where near that bad and I wouldn't bother trying to fix it. Floors are good but door pillars, shock towers, quarters are rusted. If anything maybe someone could use it for a drag car. Poor Jane😢 she'll be much happier with the car you find her. Sometimes sentimental just doesn't make sense.
ALL FACTS , Jane was a parts car as yo said , or maybe a potential Back - halved pro street car depending on ones "time & $$$" situation. Sucks for her but you put her on the rite path!!
Cool, but sad, story! I hope she gets the other car, and gets the 5.0 she's always wanted. I can imagine what shes going through, I cant imagine if my 91 GT was not is a salvageable state and I had to start over. Also glad to see someone else from Michigan crazy enough to send you their car, lol!
I was bummed out seeing the damage and that it wasn't worth repairing. I hope Jayne gets another car that will make her happy. Project "True Blue? It may be lame but it's all I've got at the moment.
If you redid all of the unibody frame then yes. Can't guarantee you'd have much to weld onto though! Car is actually going to Mexico! Hopefully someone repairs it! Hourly labor is a lot more affordable down there.
to convert them to a 5.0 is pretty ez ....harness ,computer ,used truck motor ,some peddles a salvage yard and ebay parts solid 1,500 to 2,000 dollars ...yes i can do the work and yes im year 8 in my build its a driver not a looker standard paint job is about 8k which is crazy when the paint depending on color ect is some where around $1200 for a cool color and body work isnt hard just time consuming
That’s Michigan cars for you. You can’t drive them in the winter, that salt eats them alive! I’ve walked away from some really sweet cars here that were way beyond repair just sitting in someone’s backyard and everyone who owns these backyard stored cars think they’re are sitting on a gold mind are 🥜 nuts.
How is it ok that the state spreads salt on the roads and destroys our cars, I demand a class action lawsuit to pay for the destruction of our vehicles.
Calamity Jane. Plain Jane sounds weak...Calamity Jane was an American icon like the car itself. She also shot a 45-60 octa long rifle. Witch is todays basic 50cal muzzle loader. So ya know (5.0) mustang. Plane Jane has no class. This Jane does and is also a story teller just like Calamity.

Great to hear that everything is going to work out for Jayne. She can make new memories in the new car while paying homage to the old one.

Jane's Addiction!!
Definitely the right call. I understand the sentimental end of it completely but at the end of the day much better off going this direction and you can always use parts from the original car. Excellent video looking forward to seeing the finished project.

This actually a really good topic. I enjoyed this episode
Really awesome blue interior though. 14:28

Nice choice. Safety is key, especially structural. Thanks for sharing.
Also key is finding the honest, knowledgeable car guys like Chris. Super grateful for all he did.
Michigan owner of 2 all original completely rust-free fox bodys in my opinion this car sat in grass for a long time where they lived on a muddy road
How about Jane’s Addiction?🦊
Gotta be Jayne's.
As someone who has ALOT of experience repairing rusted camaros and novas I firmly believe you made the right decision!
Yall are fkn lazy
Very good, solid advice. 👍👍Thanks for sharing 👍
Rust I can understand. The dog hair is where I's draw the line lol
As it was starting to have engine issues, I neglected its vacuuming. I knew it was bad, but the video made me cringe. Again, I apologize Chris.
Very sad story indeed! Excellent advice! My hat is off to you for being an all out honest man! Much respect to you Chris!
completely understand, I walked away from a few of my old cars because of rust and other issues, expectation and reality are very different things.
My notch has a little bit of rust, and it’s time to start grinding
Tough situation. Tough story. Top man for handling it as you did.
You are right bro. I hope she takes your advice and gets another shell.

If ya still need a project name, I was thinking plain Jayne would have been pretty good
Not. I had said to Chris, you may not call it, I mean please don't call it, a plain Jane. I like "Jayne's Addiction".
@@jaynedoh5474 lol I hear ya, yeah that’s a good name too
I’m sure that was hard for her, but sometimes you got to let go. Start fresh. Glad she found you and not someone who would do her wrong.
Her car was the exact same mine was stock. Bright regatta blue with a red stripe…different engine though.
Janes Addiction

The blue roller sounds like the way to go.

Project "True Blue? It may be lame but it's all I've got at the moment.
Would it be a good shell to build a chassis for a racecar? As a coupe, the shell appeared ok.

That’s ashamed. She kept it all those years. Makes me appreciate my notch a little bit more.
Good luck to Jayne. I hope the other blue on blue works out. That car would have been a scary Ebay car. It looked pretty good from a distance.
You did the right thing some people wouldn't give a shit and just take the money 💰
How is it ok that the state spreads salt on the roads and destroys our cars, I demand a class action lawsuit to pay for the destruction of our vehicles.
I thought after project Bryce 4 cylinder swap you were done swapping 4 cylinder to 5.0
I was however this lovely lady was in line even before you were!
Plot twist, you sold it to 50tussin and he's going to run a 6 in it.
Car is a trainwreck...or should I say Jaynewreck.
Buy a vert and salvage the roof of this rust bucket stang n mesh it all together to make a notch?🤷

Parts car
I’m sure a lot of us can appreciate your honesty. More importantly when it’s all done (NOT PLAIN) Jane will be gratefully appreciative…salute 🫡
