Hi Louise lovely to have you back xxx hope your feeling so much better now xxx I have both of your Max Porter books from your videos , I have Shy too xx ❤❤ so Thank you always for your fantastic videos xx ❤❤❤❤ much love to you all xxxxx ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Goodness, I love your channel and your taste in books. Passing is extraordinary and deserves multiple rereads. Lanny is a gem and I'm currently reading (and absolutely loving) Demon Copperhead. Wishing you lots of good health! ❤
Thank you for the mention Louise, I just loved Violets too. Think I need to reread it already. I loved Black Butterflies too AND Demon Copperhead AND Remote Sympathy. Excellent choices xx
💕😀xx thanks Louise. Great choices as always. I’ve got a copy of pet waiting for me in my library. Can’t wait to start reading! At the moment I’m reading Barbara Comyns. I would thoroughly recommend all of hers. Most unusual reads. So glad you enjoyed your holiday. Back to the chalk face next week I expect for you. Lots of love.🥰
Thanx Louise 👍🤓 I’ve read “Violets” (because Simon recommended it !!), “Demon Copperhead” & “Black Butterflies” - all special books 👏🏻 I’ve borrowed Mike Parker’s from the library (another choice triggered by SS 😉) I especially want to read those by Amalie Smith & Catherine Chidgey. Hope you continue to feel better x
I'm so glad you're feeling better! Thread Ripper would be great for Shorty September! Thanks for reviewing it because I've never heard of it. I've never read Max Porter, but I hope to soon! Loved hearing about the books you enjoyed and how they've shaped you thus far this year :)
Hooray for Violets 🎉 and for Max Porter. I need to read Shy. I also need to read Thread Ripper. I may have to try Catherine Chidgey again as Pet does sound super good. I thought The Schoolhouse might make the list. I’ll be reading that soon.
These all look so good, and I look forward to getting to them at some point. I see Circe on your bookshelf. My son is visiting Hawaii, where he is currently stationed, and he read it and brought it with him so I could read it.🙂
What a wonderful reading year you are having! So sorry you returned from South America with a bug but very glad you are feeling much better. I do love Max Porter. And of course Demon Copperhead is quite a masterpiece. Can’t wait for all the new books for fall!
Have read half of your recommendations so feel we’re on the same page!! Also really loved Pet and Bandit Queen Hope you are going to tell us about your latest trip Love your posts… thank you Take care
Thank you Louise, another great video jam packed with compelling recommendations. I adored black Butterflies too and have just given it to my son who is off to uni....he's loving it so far as well. I can't wait to see what she writes next. I'm glad to hear you had a good time away and gearing yourself up I imagine, for the start of term😊 Happy reading 📚
Hey there - these books were written during the Harlem Renaissance - 20’s. She died penniless, unfortunately. My guess for the exposure is the Rebecca Hall movie made of Passing last year on Netflix. I love these and have taught both of them.
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 Sure! Hopefully, it’s still on Netflix. I believe what prompted her to make a film version of Passing was reading it and later discovering that her mother’s father was African-American ( her mother is American). I love Passing so much - it’s so elusive.
I enjoyed Pet but there can only be one Miss Jean Brodie 😂 the creme de la creme. Anything likened to Muriel Spark is cat nip for me. I'm halfway through The Schoolhouse on your recommendation, though finding the police sections less interesting than the dodgy school and current day Isobel sections. Why does the horse have no mane or tail? Do we find out?
late treats are especially delicious...glad you shared your favorite books so far and definitely sold me on Pet...glad you're back and sorry you had to pay for the trip in illness!
I read Black Butterflies (mainly bc you and Simon liked it !) months after y’all, and I don’t remember the protagonist’s name either. Absolutely agree regarding humor/darkness balance w Bandit Queens! 📖🪱💚

Penelope in the "Odyssey" weaved a shroud for Laertes during the day, and ripped it out at night, to put off suitors
Indeed, she did. So crafty 😀🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡
So many gorgeous books 😍

Thank you - the holiday was magnificent 🙏🙏🙏🧡🧡🧡📚📚📚

I did love The Schoolhouse but it was upstaged by Pet for me ❤️❤️❤️
These all look so good, and I look forward to getting to them at some point. I see Circe on your bookshelf. My son is visiting Hawaii, where he is currently stationed, and he read it and brought it with him so I could read it.🙂
Oh gosh, I loved Circe. I was one of the few people who wasn’t a massive fan of The Song of Achilles, so Circe was a wonderful surprise 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡
A great how the other half live book I recently read was….Don’t Play Games With The Builder… a Christmas ghost story with a happy ending.
Sounds almost seasonal, will look out for it 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡

I will, indeed, be sharing my trip - it may be a little while yet as September is a very busy month for me 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡
And indeed on Demon too!!!

Thank you so much. How wonderful that your son is reading Black Butterflies! It’s such a gift when our children become avid readers 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡
Glad you've had a great trip, Louise!
I'm reading Black Butterflies this month for my book club and I can't wait!
Do let me know what you think 📚📚📚🙏🙏🙏🧡🧡🧡

Ooo! Thank you. Must watch the movie- was not aware of it 🙏🙏🙏🧡🧡🧡📚📚📚

I've been thinking about reading Demon Copperhead. I keep hearing mixed opinions. Thread Ripper and Pet sound good.
Try it - if you don’t like it, you can turn to something else 😊🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡

I adore Muriel Spark - probably time I read The Girls of Slender Means or Memento Mori again 🙏🙏🙏🧡🧡🧡📚📚📚
