Nothing? I'd say straight up cheating is worse. There's also sandbagging. False starts is up there. Messing with the table, balls, or cues is another. I mean, the list goes on.
Actually when the ref say's it's a foul then it's a foul and not if the player say's it's a foul. Efren could not see from his position if the 5 got hit or not. Also on the video you can not clearly see it. So in the end there would be a video assistant recquired.
Efren is a legend and there is no question about it. He taught the guy a good lesson. But I also appreciate Soufi at the end, he diffused the situatiin and ultimately bowed to the master, and seriously though, there is no shame in it. ❤
Do you know the chance of the ball Frozen to the cushion is verrrryyyyyy small? There usually is a small gap between the ball and the cushion. But no one can tell from watching it here. You really need to be there. To look. And since efren didnt ask the ref to watch/check if the ball was indeed touching the cushion. Benefit of the doubt will usually be that it had that small gap.
Are we gonna ignore that the five ball went in at 14:56 and soufi didnt take his shot. AND u even said he was unsuccessful on the break?? How was he not?😂
Looks like they're playing with a "3-point" rule. The 5-ball went in and the 1-ball passed the headstring , so that's 2 points, but no other balls were pocketed and no other balls passed the headstring so he didn't get the required 3 points for a legal break.
Efren, eversince the beginning up to his age during this game, never had been arrogant. Very humble and always watch his demeanor that's why he is loved by everybody.
I agree with you. But in this case he is not right. Impossible to see this from his position and even our camera angle doesnt prove a foul from Soufi. So in the end of the day there would be a video assistant recquired.
Efren never do illegal on the game unless he wants to give a lesson to an arrogant. In such case, for me it's justified. Will Efren make a mess especially if he can outdo his opponent.
TIL that Efren is a complete gentleman because he actually plays pool instead of just causing his opponents to foul out on every break. Don't mess with the bull, or you will get the horns. Legendary!
Based on where efren was sitting it’s very hard to make that call. If the cue ball contacted the rail then there is a good chance the object ball could have been blushed by cue ball when the object ball being frozen.. also the shooter was standing over it and watching it over head. I doubt he lie in that position. So the game should have continued…
The number on the 5 ball stayed the same if it was hit enough for it to bounce on the cushion then the number should have moved. It was the right call because the cue only touched the 5 ball. Newton’s first law and 3rd law would justify this.
@@leog9844 lol that's impossible. Go ahead make a video of you doing it and see if you can hit the ball light enough for it not to move while it's stuck to the rail. I'll be waiting😁
The only thing that we don't know on sight is whether or not the 5 ball is frozen to the rail. The rest of the situation is clear. The cue ball doesn't make it all the way to the rail, and its final position is resting against the 5. Given that Efren calls a foul, we know that the 5 was in fact frozen to the rail. Given that his opponent was trying to argue that the 5 was hit, he doesn't understand the problem. The rules regarding a table scratch are: The cue ball must make contact with a legal ball before any other ball (in 9 ball only the lowest numbered ball on the table is the legal first hit, in 8 ball hitting any ball of your group first [solids or stripes] is a legal hit). Once contact is made with a legal ball, ANY ball (cue ball, your own, or you opponent's) must be driven into contact with the rail (or go into a pocket). As the rules stand, a ball that is ALREADY touching the rail (frozen) doesn't count as being driven to that rail after contact. For example, even if a ball was frozen and you made it bounce off the rail 4 inches - it's still a table scratch (provided that the cue also never touched a rail afterwards). It's up to both players to determine whether or not a ball is frozen before a shot like this is played. Even a hair's width of space changes the rule. Efren calls it a foul because the 5 must have been frozen. *After* looking at it again, the frozen ball situation seems to be moot, it appears that the hit is so soft that the 5 doesn't move at all (especially not towards the rail), not even to close a half mm gap if it were there. Leaving the rest of the comment as-is so people understand the table scratch rule/ frozen ball rule.
Efren was definitely in the right here - the object ball wasn't frozen to the rail, the cue ball doesn't look like it hit the object ball hard enough for it to make contact with the rail (it didn't even move), and the cue ball still didn't make contact. Even if the object ball was frozen to the rail, the cue ball needed to contact that same rail, or the object ball needed to make contact with another rail, neither of which happened in the shot. Also, in rack 13 (14:54 mark), it says that Soufi wasn't successful on the break, but the 5 went in on Soufi's break? Did they not notice?
Im literally in shock I still can't believe it happened ill never get over the fact that the legend was paying attention when it favoured him, doesn't matter if they had an argument I expect the legend to acknowledge everything regardless. He's the champ it's his job to keep it fair. 💔
I refuse to believe he didn't noticed I just can't. He only got one job and he's absolutely the best at it I never expect him to make mistakes....or atleast these types of mistakes....specially when he's a refree
At 14:54, Soufi did sink a ball. However, maybe they’re using the “3 point rule” where a successful break requires 3 balls to reach the head string (or be pocketed). I only saw one pocketed and one come back to the head string, which is insufficient by that rule.
@@rjohnson8ball This is 100% correct. As you pointed out, the 3 point rule requires 3 objects balls to pass or touch the head string (2nd diamond that players break behind). Any ball that's pocketed subtracts from the required number of balls. In this case pocketing one would require two to pass the invisible line. Pocketing two would require one. Failing to do so is not considered a foul but the opponent gets the next shot or can pass the shot back to the opponent (they sometimes have the option to re-break). If the 9-ball is pocketed on a non-compliant break, it's put back on the table.
Efren doesn’t just make these shots but he’s placing/lining up for the next ones. On top of making spectacular shots, especially getting out of safeties.
The main problem is that Soufi, together with half the people commenting, do not know the rules. Even if the 5 moved after contact it DOES NOT MATTER - it did not hit ANOTHER rail! The cue ball also DID NOT HIT A RAIL! No rail after contact = a foul.

An anime based on Efren Reyes changing his name and coming to the US would be absolutely insane. A young flashy pool star from humble beginnings who disguises himself in order to conquer a new land in the game he loves, like the dude has lived an anime in real life lol.
To me it looked like the 5 ball was frozen to the rail. In that case another ball or cue ball has to make contact with the rail after the 5 was hit. It did not look like the cue hit the rail. But honestly its not a great angle here and I can't say for certain.
At last someone here with full honesty. The angles we have are inadequate for a conclusive decision. All I'd say is there's no way the cue ball hits the object ball and doesn't move it even a minute fraction. You have to literally skim the paint of a ball to not move it after contact unless the cloth has a nap like a shaggy rug you see in front of fireplaces. So if it was already frozen, it 'looks' to me like a foul from the bad angle we have. If it wasn't already frozen I don't believe it could have been contacted as it was without touching the cushion after.

Unless Efren calls someone to ref., the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter. So Soufi was right. Your slow motion does not show anything. But oh, Efren is a legend and the goat so of course he's right.
I dont think the oponent did it on purpose, I think since his eyes where a little behind the object ball he could not see the little gap so he thought it was a hit, he probably should focused on seeing the object ball move instead.
The thing happened there was the 5 ball was frozen to rail and if the ball is frozen on the rail then if you just touch the ball that will be foul. Because the frozen ball didn’t move and it was already touching the rail. So either the white ball or the object ball should touch the after if you are hitting the frozen rail balls.
Soufi being right over top of the shot had the best view and should have called a foul on himself instead of trying to argue the point. It was pretty clear in the footage that the 5 ball never moved
Soufi is a nice kid. He genuinely thought it wasnt a foul and said what he thought. Theres nothing wrong with that. He seemed very friendly and happy throughout the game
and he was way way closer and looking at it from a much better angle than anyone else in the room. they should trust him not their own inferior view of it.
@leesmith9299 yeah he was way closer and still got it fucking wrong your logic is flawed cuz clearly he didnt have the best vantage point regardless of how close he was

Efren is the grand old man of pool and billiards. He never needs to call a foul except when he sees clearly that a foul occurred. I think the argument got Efren to up his game a little, or maybe a lot. Even if the younger man disagreed, it would have been much better for him to concede the foul gracefully, and thus not give Efren any reason to up his game.
That was not correct by Soufi, he should have given his foul out of respect alone! he saw it himself that it was a foul! is simply not such a behavior! Efren was right!!! i love efren
I love watching Efren play. When I was a kid my dad (who was really good) was teaching me to shoot pool. Unfortunately I never got very good, but all these years later I still remember the art and strategy one must aquire shooting pool to become proficient. If Efren has children I can only hope he is passing his gift on.
Yes, and we all saw Soufi got that 5 in on the break yet the commenter says (including text on the bottom edge) that "Soufi was not successful on the break"! WTF, is he blind? I think they edited out Soufi's turn in this cut-up video. Only the full video, if there is one, would show us what really happened - why Efren did shot #2 instead of Soufi.
For those who's saying the 5 ball was frozen, it's not. The syrian player himself did not argue that fact it was frozen, he say the 5 ball move slightly and touch the rail.
Then that's not possible? If a ball is frozen, it can't be contacted in a way to make it a legal shot unless it goes off and strikes another rail, unless there is a double-kiss which clearly there wasn't here. All of that applies unless the white runs off it and strikes the rail, which we see didn't happen. So if Soufi doesn't argue about it being frozen, he's surely also saying it was a foul then.
@@countbasi4680 No because it's very easy to see that it bounces from the white into the cushion and back. The slowmo is misleading because it's impossible to detect a small motion over a longer time.

The 5 didn't move...if its that close, decision goes to opponent...the shooter didn't do enough to not make it questionable
Absolutely not, there is no major federation that doesn't give the benefit of the doubt to the shooting athlete. Especially not the wpa
@@mr.lootybutthole I was wondering that. I'm familiar that it goes to the shooter in disputes in certain federations. Don't know about wpa
On rack 13, the 5 ball fell in the corner pocket on the break, he should have continued shooting 14:59
On the last rack of the match. What happened? The table only had 8 balls not including the white. How did Efren get the turn?(JW) Ty for uploading.
Hi. The 3 Point Break rule is in effect. Illegal break for Soufi in that rack. Thanks for your comment.
@@EfrenReyesTV I wondered the same. Looked up the Rule.
Pockets a ball, but only 1 ball came past the head string.
Almost met efren last week. He showed up randomly at a bar near me in the Philippines. I was there 2 days before and 1 after he came but missed the Efren window. I get to play on a table he played and signed so I'm pretty happy though. A lot of Filipinos know about him which you can't say the same for Americans and our pool players.
If u are in a match with Efren Reyes....and he makes a call....you say "Yes, Efren....you are correct "
What's the point of competing if you gonna bow to whatever your opponent says just because of their fame or level? .. stay home
@@poisontutorial
If it was any opponent, I would agree. Tons of video of Efren shows he would never lie and has heightened skill at observing what happened.
If it's another opponent ye maybe.. But bro it's Efren the magician Reyes.. The guy is a humble legend he doesn't show any arrogance in any game.. So once he says something he's uttering only truth.. It's not just about he's performance but he's attitude and personality that he is known.. If you don't know him then yes your point is really valid.. But here just saying that guy the magician is honest.
Who the fuck in their right mind argues with Reyes? The guy is an og legend.
If Efren says it's a foul - it's a foul.
on rack 13, the 5 ball for sure went in. It was a succesful break or am i tripping? @14:55
Unless Efren calls someone to ref., the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter. So Soufi was right. Your slow motion does not show anything. But oh, Efren is a legend and the goat so of course he's right.
IKR? haha. buncha dick riders in this comment section.
Arguing with him just made him more superior 😂😂😂
I dont think the oponent did it on purpose, I think since his eyes where a little behind the object ball he could not see the little gap so he thought it was a hit, he probably should focused on seeing the object ball move instead.
You don't spit in the wind, don't tug on Supermans cape, don't pull the mask off the lone Ranger and YOU DON'T PISS EFREN OFF😢
The thing happened there was the 5 ball was frozen to rail and if the ball is frozen on the rail then if you just touch the ball that will be foul. Because the frozen ball didn’t move and it was already touching the rail. So either the white ball or the object ball should touch the after if you are hitting the frozen rail balls.
Why would Efren, a bloody world champion legend, cry foul if their was no foul? Show some respect. If he says its foul, its foul.
Soufi being right over top of the shot had the best view and should have called a foul on himself instead of trying to argue the point. It was pretty clear in the footage that the 5 ball never moved
never argue with the emperor
Soufi is a nice kid. He genuinely thought it wasnt a foul and said what he thought. Theres nothing wrong with that. He seemed very friendly and happy throughout the game
and he was way way closer and looking at it from a much better angle than anyone else in the room. they should trust him not their own inferior view of it.
I agree@@leesmith9299
And yet he was fucking wrong so stfu and respect the fucking reality
@leesmith9299 yeah he was way closer and still got it fucking wrong your logic is flawed cuz clearly he didnt have the best vantage point regardless of how close he was
It was a foul. Soufi was in total error.
@1:45 why didnt he pot the 1 ball ? natural angle takes you to the 2ball ?
I’m confused. Soufi made the 5 when breaking rack 13. Am I missing something?
I think at least three balls have to either be potted or pass the breaking line in 9-Ball
@@carogonzalez could u kindly give me a more defined proof of this, because this is my first time hearing about it
same i was very confused
@@AdrianFLY69 no I can't because I'm not 100% sure about it, I saw somebody comment it in another match where the same thing happened
3 point break rule.he pockted 5 ball and made 1 ball pass the headstring, that makes 2 points, but since it’s 3 point game he was unsuccessful with his break.
You’re gonna learn young boy. Don’t mess with the legend!!!
Imagine playing against the legend the greatest efren reyes.. and things be sour coz u think u right😂damn ..I'd prolly let efren win on purpose just to see him run out each rack n display his skills
I will do that too.
Sometimes you have to argue, so referee must step in to see the top footage 😂😅😊
If Effren Reyes says you fouled you say yes sir I didn’t see it but I damn well know you don’t need to cheat here is your ball in hand
Legend ❤❤❤
The rule is that if there is no clear evidence of a foul, the benefit of the doubt goes to the player who made the shot.
Foul play and foul player. 😅
Masterful finishing strategy by the 🐐.
The 🐐 also ignored the fact that his opponent made a ball on the 13th rack when he broke 😭☠️ Lil buddy was f*ckin around and the 🐐 made sure he'll never find out☠️
Soufi made the 5 ball in the last break but Efren went next. Did they not see that?
The syrian thinks he can fool like playing with 5 years old kid. Gimme a break....
IKR.
I believe it was a foul. But my hat is off for them deciding and agreeing not to count the rack. As always, incredible shooting Efren!
There we see that Legend vs Amateur has so far difference 😂😂
the dude is the world champion 2023
@@johnnyd7350 not many people knows, he also a changed man i think.
@@johnnyd7350bum world champ? Lol idiot
Don't argue with pag pag!
syrian pool player PWEEEE.. what do you know about billard.. you are lucky to play with the legend respecy boy
Imagine trolling an old GOAT teaching him what is right like get yo ass outta here
The fact that he shared the table with a legend..bruhhh
Ummmmm 8:18 of the video ,,,,, one of the greatest of all time ???!!! Ummmmmmmm no Efren is THE GOAT simple!!!! Thanks for the video!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
The magician will be the man well up into his 70s and possibly 80s.
He knows he's wrong, and can't win
So he has to cheat.
Now Efren is pissed,
Good point!
I love ramdomly going on a Efren binge, every few months or so, legend.
The epitome of pool - Efren Reyes
He humbled the angry person and made friends
😇😉👍
@@riejon80 😊👋🏻👋🏻☺️
I thought the video ended but it was just an intro. Lol
love this Syrian guy well played for both of them
Reyes is all ways brilliant. Every time, he will do something special. Thanks, good video .
Efren is the uncle everyone should have
Is anyone else getting weird buffering at the 6:30;mark?
I’m rack 13 he made the 5 ball on the break But efren still got the next shot.
@@Jeff82556 glad I wasn't the only one that saw that.
Non-compliant break - google "9 ball 3 point rule"
Watching from Missouri City, Texas
Efren is right it's a foul
I agree with you. Who else?
cheats are not welcome in any sport at any level, well done efren justice prevailed.
@@Doppe1ganger It played at full speed and you're still wrong.
You can’t fool the magician….he played by the book.
That's what a marker is for. You should never call a foul.
still watching from hongkong Congrat sir Efren Reyes ❤❤
He first thought that he could outsmart Efren, but then he bowed down to the Goat.
