For the record, I'm one of the people who felt that the last games in the franchise (RE7 & 8) didn't felt like Resident Evil games at all. Now they are good horror games but they would have been a lot better in my opinion if they had zero links to the Resident Evil franchise.
@Not Always Happy Like I said, good horror games but they didn't felt they belonged to the RE series. These games have everything to scare you sh*less but I went to RE7 & 8 expecting something and wasn't fully satisfied.
@@wargamesmaster That was the intention with those games. They wanted to base it on RE universe but with another storyline. You can only use the same recipe so many times before people get tired and want something fresh.
@@veritassyfer1185 I understand that but before basically going the "reboot" route, I would have expected Capcom to fix the plot holes they created over the years (a definitive end to what happened to Billy Coen after RE0 and not just some lie Rebecca invented to protect him, the secret society for which Ada Wong worked for in RE6, the return of Alex Wesker in a main game since she survives no matter the ending of Revelations 2, the "adventure" of Jake Muller in the Middle East shown after the end of RE6...). Literally ANYTHING, manga, comics, animated movie or game to end these plot holes for good if the company wanted to do something new afterwards. I still won't change my mind on RE7 & 8, good games but not good RE games in my eyes. While I'm here, Capcom did something illegal during the development of RE8, they plagiarized a monster from some New Zealand horror movie named "Frankenstein Army" for one of their bosses (the one with a plane engine as its face), I'm surprised they never were sued or got any serious backlash for this.
I am actually VERY excited for the RE 4 remake. I think they realized after the negative feedback from RE3, that they took a wrong direction with it, which is why they didn’t use that same team. From everything you’ve told us about the leaks, I’m hopeful that this game will bring back horror and surprise us in a way we didn’t think possible. I wish the community wasn’t so close minded about the remakes, because I generally do believe Capcom is trying to improve the games since they know RE is a beloved series. If they can make this game the best it can be, it will pave the way for future remakes like Code Veronica and the Outbreak series. It’s ok to love the original games, if you are the hardcore fan who doesn’t want to play the remakes then don’t, no one is forcing you to. I think people just look for a way to complain about something, which is sad because there are a lot of people who enjoy the remakes. I will always love the original games, but I do get excited for remakes because it is another way to play the games I love so much. All I’m saying is be respectful to those who’s opinion differs from yours, it is ok if you don’t agree with them, just be kind.
Sums up my thoughts exactly. It seems capcom learnt there lesson after the RE3 remake and got the team that made the excellent re2 remake to do re4 justice. Also i think thats a problem with fandoms is that a few fans have a problem with people liking the newer titles/remakes cause the newer titles didnt live up to their nostalgia goggles thus they not only moan about the newer games but they seem to have a problem with newer fans liking the newer titles. I love the originals but i also love the newer ones for their interpretation of the older titles and how they can adapt it to a modern audience. If the newer fabs dont like the older games then its no big deal, there are others to appreciate those ones. I for one am excited to see the RE4 remake Roll on march 24. It cant come sooner
I disagree on one thing, Capcom IS forcing us to play the remakes since the original games Resident Evil 2 and 3 aren't available on modern consoles and Steam. I'm one of the people who want the originals available literally ANYWHERE whether it's on PlayStation 4/5, XBOX, Switch or Steam.

My take is that even if RE4R ends up being another masterpiece, some fans will be screaming for "the things CAPCOM should have done". But again, let's not forget there is no such thing as sheer perfection. Because everyone has their standards. Critical thinking is always luxury in most situations. And those who lose this luxury will get freaked out.
@@burakcoskun1865 RE2R was disappointing. Claire and Leon story make no sense. It was the highlight of the original game that the stories intertwine and interact with each other, but the remake cut it out. That's like cutting out Nemesis from RE3.
RE4 orginal is overrated but maybe RE4 reimagine well be the best reimagine RE becuse it’s horror not like the orginal in action game and thats good thing for sure the game need to be horror and all RE games from RE2 to RE4 are (reimagine) not remake even capcom say it to RE2,3,4 it’s (reimagine)
@@222wesker I agree ! Played reco & it lost the magic that it once had when I used to play it religiously on GameCube. I still find it very fun but I prefer the re2 remake style. That’s why I’m very excited for this remake

I will fully admit that RE3 Remake left a sour taste in my mouth. That was a game where the more you thought of the original RE3 and all the things it has the worst the RE3 Remake got. My thought is as long as Capcom learns from that mistake and doesn't cut 60% of RE4 I will be fine. I am even fine with stuff being cut as long as its replaced with new things. Like you said I can always go back to the original RE4 if I don't like it. I don't think its going to be bad though. Like you said Capcom is fully aware that RE4 remake is a game that they can't screw up on otherwise the fans would never forgive them. I like your take about how its okay to agree to disagree. I am one of the people out there that actually enjoyed Welcome to Racoon City. When I said as much in various comment sections across the internet I had a lot of people come at me with things like "You're not a true Resident Evil Fan" I don't think one person said to me " I think you are wrong but I respect you opinion"
Re3 was a amazing game,it just popular to dislike.the internet made it so everyone takes on youtubers and twitters opinions.if you never heard that you'd think it was a great game.re2 remake completely removed half the game in the a/b scenario

I've been playing RE4 since it came out I still play it all the time casually just for fun. It definitely needs this remake. It looks great. People literally hate on everything nowadays.
The RE4 remake won't delete the original from existence. Even if it isn't to your liking then you can always go back to it. I for one am open to something new, graphically and plot wise.
I just want Capcom to know how much of a letdown RE3R was. They set the tone with RE2R by knocking it out of the park but then came back with a giant letdown the following year. They will most definitely split the fan base if they don’t follow thru on a good RE4R, which will hurt them for years to come

RE2R was also a huge letdown. Don't get why people praise it so much. It was ok as its own game, but it lacks the zapping system that was essential in the original. That's like remaking RE3 but cut out Nemesis.
I’m excited for the RE 4 remake and I really don’t mind what they try with it. The only thing I’d say they shouldn’t mess with is the pacing and fluid combat. If they re make it in the style of re2 where the base enemies are bullet sponges, ammo is much harder to come by and your playable character movement is slower and more clunky than the original re4, I think that could make for a frustrating play though. Other than that I’m willing to see where they take it and can’t wait to play 👍
My issue with the "re-imagining" of this game is this: TL;DR - This game can't be re-imagined but only re-made and therein lies the problem. The long version: By changing certain elements of the game you risk disappointment. Sure RE4 is absolutely not perfect as you say, but it is considered a beyond masterpiece to all of gaming. It is not just a Resident Evil game, it is THE game to some people and something that was so cool it brought in almost everyone in gaming as I struggle to find anyone no matter what genre they like that hasn't played it. See by making changes you set yourself up to the impossible, because changing it can have three obvious outcomes: 1. It becomes better. 2. It becomes the same/similar. 3. It gets worse. The only acceptable outcome would be for it to become better because making it the same would be pointless if you are insisting on making changes and making it worse will make hell break loose. I'm being serious, you saw how crazy the internet got over RE3R and while the original RE3 is a big game within the community, it is still only within the RE community while RE4 is a game that was so big it is a huge game in not just the community but all of gaming history. People lost their mind over the relatively smaller RE3R... Now imagine an RE4R flop... It could be company ruining huge. For those who don't believe this, imagine if someone wanted to make a "Re-imagined" Ocarina Of Time with changes and it flops, this game is that big too. So now the company has set itself in the position of having to improve the game, so just imagine that stress and the size of said task, improve on no other than RE4... That is insanity. I agree it could use some changes sure, but it's a very sensitive minefield to cross and we expect an improvement on a game THIS huge from someone that couldn't even handle RE3 THIS is why I'm personally freaking out. I trust that they've learned form their mistakes especially now that they know the size of the matter they are dealing with here as this is not just a Resident Evil game, it's the literal grandfather of over the shoulder games. But it's just so ridiculous to me when everyone within the community has praised the old RE1 remake and said time and time again how that is the gold standard or remakes and EVERYONE wanted that for this game and they apparently had such a build with a 100% remake but scrapped it. So now not only do they have to reach higher expectations than one of the biggest games of all time but on top of that IF it flops we will also now know we COULD have had the game we actually wanted but they scrapped it, the pressure is just too much. What I personally would have wanted is RE4 in the new engine as is with movement while shooting but the laser gets shakier and shakier the more you move. Expand the Ada campaign to a long full story segment and give Louis a campaign too that starts on the island and he goes from end to start where he meets Leon etc. Release those as DLC and we're good. I can't wait to see what they did but oh BOY is the pressure on CAPCOM now man, but as a fan of this game I want them to succeed but I just can't help but be reasonable and think they won't, guess we'll see. RE4 remake looks interesting and it'll be great too see new enemies, and Luis getting his story expanded because he needed more time on screen in the original RE4 but was killed off too early. Dr Salvador aka chainsaw man getting his story expanded as well it would be cool if they explained how he became the chainsaw man. How the merchant is connected to the duke from RE8 and how Nemesis ties into RE4 remake since he was infected with the las plaga and how he was able to make las plaga zombies because there different than the las plaga infected towns people that Leon encounters.
Nemesis had nothing to do with plagas/las plaga. a Nemesis is created when the Nemesis parasite that was discovered inside Lisa Trevor is connected to the Spinal Cord of a Tyrant-00 (Mr. X). Umbrella had 4 Nemesis parasites, one Nemesis was too intelligent and had to be terminated when it tried to escape, one was sent to Racoon City to elimate S.T.A.R.S. other 2 unknown. this is all in files from 1 3 and CV. nothing to do with plagas. nemesis parasite.
Hard disagree. The purpose of a remake is to take a great game and improve upon the dated aspects of it while also maintaining as much of what made the game great as possible. You can't just remove 50% of the content, change all the voice actors and nerf their personalities and jokes, and slap a modern coat of paint on it. That is the recipe for a bad remake. All this said, I respect your opinion and we all feel our own way about this.
I must say that the RE4 remake might be better than all the other remakes but I think it will be good either way. But if isn't good I'll still probably play It considering I love resident evil and its entirety.
The people who are trashing the RE4 remake need to realize that if they don't want to play it, they don't have to play it. No one is forcing you to play it.
Capcom were doing something really sensible with re 7 and 8 and now rumour has it that they’re planning to repeat history with remaking 5 and possibly 6. I’m still excited for re 9.
For me personally I am really excited for the resident evil 4 remake and to see the merchant and luis getting their own stories and the different enimes and locations will see. I am really looking forward to it.👍
I’m just as excited as when it was announced back in June for the State of Play. I’ve never been so hyped for a game at all till I landed with RE VILLAGE. Personally, I’ve not played the RE 3 Remake yet but I’ve seen the playthroughs. From what I’ve heard, the RE 3 Remake did not hit the ballpark as its predecessor did. Will that mean that Capcom would potentially miss the mark with RE4, who knows! But we can hope that they can take into note what didn’t work at all from the previous Remake installment-they have to. RE 4 is stellar and a classic and there’s room for improvement like shorten the prolonged journey through the castle. I have faith that they’ll do it better than ever & I continue to shout out that I cannot wait for March.
man I love how they did resident evil 7 in the horror they did the horror aspect yes resident evil 8 has some of that horror aspect but I wish they brought more of that into it I feel like resident evil 7 as a whole is probably one of the best resident evil games because of that horror aspect it made me really feel that dread
I was also really disappointed how they remade 3. The original Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was my favorite RE game. I was looking to see how the park, grave/gravedigger, dead factory, clock tower would look like. In the original 3 you also went through more of the alleys in the city which was fun too because you never knew where you'd end up.
Mikami said he hopes any eventual remake of Resident Evil 4 improves on the original’s story which was only written in two and a half weeks (we know they are improving the story ) I imagine that this will be a great game now that Mikami is done with his game studios release I would be surprised if he isn't over looking things now...

My two cents... Does RE4 need to be remade? No Do I want & appreciate RE4 being remade? Yes Also, the "it doesn't need it" argument is lame. No videogame ever needs to be made, but we like playing them anyway. We DON'T need to eat Pizza, but we like to. And I could go on & on. Just because something ISN'T needed DOESN'T mean that it shouldn't happen.
we're sharing the same thoughts. RE4 always still at the top of RE library games and not going away and RE4 remake will never replace it but we need to see the game from another perspective especially if they're going the improve the dialogues, shout mechanism, the island, adding new enemies and improving some of the old ones so what can I say it's for the best. That's why I'm so excited to play it
In my opinion RE2 didn't need a remake, RE3 didn't need a remake and RE4 definitely doesn't need a remake. In a perfect world i would like to see something new. Maybe even a new horror ip from capcom
RE4 being my favorite game ever, Im really excited for the remake. However, as a *RE* game I would've much prefer a Code Veronica or Outbreak remake. I think after RE2 and RE3, Code Veronica would logically have been the better choice remake-wise and story-wise. Outbreak NEEDS to be remade. Having a proper RE game (not like RE5, RE6 and Resistance) that could be played with friends would be nice.
Capcom probably prefers to first Remake the numbered games, followed by the subtitled games. Because if they decide to do RE 1, RE 2, RE 3, code Verónica, survival online, RE4, RE5, it's going to get messy. It's better to familiarize the audience with the numbered games first before jumping to spin offs.

sadly we live in a time were games no longer have replay value or good side modes. Games use to be shipped on a disk and what was on there was forever so devs would jam pack disks with content to keep players engaged ...so yeah it kind of is a waste of time in many ways forsure but either way its going to be really fun and hopefully innovative!
4 is an absolute master piece. However, whatever they change better hope it enhances the game. Like, I don’t want the Del Lago fish monster changed too much. I’d like the village to be bigger. Castle more exploring creepy stuff. If they make that U-3 a monster like the Baby from Village!? Holy shit that would be amazzzzzing. I’m really looking forward to this game. But not gonna compare it to 4. It will just be a different but hopefully amazing take.
Yeah but, it also depend on what tone the remake will take. As much as i love the resident evil 2 remake, removing the CORE feature of the original with the scenario A and B was a real shame. And let's not talk about the removal of a big chunk of the game AND that all Nemesis apparitions are scripted in RE3 remake.

And it aged even worse just 3 days ago; the Chainsaw Demo removed the Dr. Salvador that stays at the exit of the Village BEFORE you get the Shotgun, he used to be a very welcome side-challenge for me for a Ruby, but the guys of the Remake decided it wasn't fun or something... Stuff like that f-ing kill me, they no longer care over the little things and only care if it looks only decent for profits. Edit: As I got corrected, the Dr. Salvador in question STILL is there, so I was mistaken for sure and I wouldn't want to spread misinformation, but there's still the problem that, even when I knew he was there in the OG, I didn't knew how to make him spawn in the Remake. It's just annoying, they changed something just to screw with my nostalgic memories, I hate it even if I'm glad he's still there.
I’m excited for the remake. I really liked the RE2 remake. And to have a shooting mechanics w re2 as a base, then expanded upon to make it more actiony, while bringing back a more horrific vibe is gonna be amazing. Being able to fuck up enemies the way we’ve seen in the leaks is gonna be fun af.
I played re2 & 3 remake and loved them. Started playing the ps4 re4, the game seems good, and the story is good, the controls need improvement. It’s just a direct port of the ps2 game. After getting used to ps4/5 games, it is hard to just walk around. Hope the do them all
Final fantasy 7 was square enix's resident evil 4 and look what they did to it in the remake· And resident evil 4 is capcom's final fantasy 7 and I fear for what they will do to it, fingers crossed it doesn't suck
Let me guess the people who complain about this are the same people who say it's not a true resident evil game unless it has a fixed camera angle and tank controls. And these same people hate resident evil 4 because it did something different and not what 1-3 did.
I've heard many people say they hate the game for these reasons: .No more tank controls .Movement while aiming .Movement while reloading .Not as sexualising characters These are obviously stupid reasons to hate a game.
There is no discussion with RE4 die-hard fans. I really tried to get into RE4, but because I played RE 1,2,3,5,6,7 before it, I really could not find it so much enjoyable. Connected world of RE4 makes me think about original trilogy and amazingly well done exploration, while it's linear structure makes me think about all the amazing set pieces of RE 5 and RE 6. Sorry RE4 fans, while playing this game, I was constantly asking myself: "why should I play this game over original RE or RE 6?" and couldn't find any valid reason.

Hello, coming back after all the reviews and I am so hyped to play, it seems to be getting universal praise so thankfully everyone's worries about the game have been answered aside from a few minor non game breaking things from what I hear.
Why a re1 remake though they've already done that once and it still holds up and is acclaimed for how good it is, why redo it for a second time, literally makes no sense and is more likely to have criticism because of how good the original remake was
I'm very sure Capcom are going to cut tons of contents out, RE4 is one of the longer game in the series if I'm not wrong, only speedruns with ditman glitch can't get it under 2 hours, so if it's anything like RE2R or RE3R, I feel that many contents and maybe areas might get cut. Though of course, I'm still excited for the game and looking forward to play it. I think the vibe alone sold it to me already, I can't wait to see the game in a darker tone. 😊

Why do people want the same exact game remade exactly the same?. If you want the cheesy dialogue, the over the top cutscenes, the same cutscenes, go play the original and just shut up. All of this complaining is annoying. If you want to be stuck in the past then stay there.
You and him make some points that I also feel the same as well. I kept saying that Code Veronica should have been the next in line to get remade as well as 1 and zero. The outbreak series needs love too. 4 has been remastered so many times and has been the foundation for many of the RE games after it. Yeah it's cool to play a remake of 4 because they could explain and tie things up more than they did in the original. Also, RE4 was a classic in terms of gameplay but RE4 was when the series storyline began to go to bad. They can change some things for example in the original I hated how when Leon met Ada again he acted like it was nothing to see her, especially after their ending in RE2. Krauser just being in there and mentioning bringing back Umbrella which that storyline was just forgotten. They could explain that the plaga was revived using the G virus sample that they stole from the Police department Luis used to work at. Saddler could have ties to Umbrella or something more to tie in with the RE universe better than what the original did.
I'm a huge RE4 fan and I have to say in a lot of ways it doesn't require a remake, me personally I like all three main areas of the game The village, the Castle and the Island are all perfect for me, and they have a great variety of enemies, one of the reasons RE4 is so good is the tone and the atmosphere, the gameplay it's different and with the remake it's just going to be like all the new games L2 R2 controller and it'll lose part of that magic, last but not least dialog but most importantly voice delivery the voice acting is fantastic and RE4 is already shaping up to disappoint in that regard Leon's Voice and Ada's voice are fine in RE2, because they feel younger that is not the case is RE4 Leon is much more capable and bad ass he's in hardcore mode from the get go and is remarkably resourceful, Ada is one step ahead and is a lot more prepared, sadly the voice delivery feels weak to me especially Adas and she's not wearing the classic Red dress, it doesn't make any sense I know but she looks so cool, and it's fun is balls to the wall crazy and it's a Video game just let it be, I get the feeling this RE4 will just be a sanitized modern version of the game, the only thing you can improve on RE4 and I'm surprised it wasn't mention in the video is the Ashly situation, that's all you need to fix to make RE4 an even better experience and it's not like you can't tell her to fuck off in the OG game.
I have some concerns about how the RE4 remake looks in terms of display, but I know it's going to be a lot of fun anyway. If Capcom were going to revisit the earlier entries, I'd love to see a new game set in Racoon City between the events of 1 and 2/3. A game that would focus on the chaos of the initial outbreak, Umbrella sealing up the town, the police and STARS trying to control the growing zombie horde (like that great cut-scene at the start of the original RE3), the fall of the RPD station etc. Setting a game here would give a lot of flexibility and a lot of opportunities for new locations and you could maybe rope in a classic character for the player like Marvin or Ben.
Most people that love resident Evil 4 did not grow up with the original three or Code Veronica (or were really just too young) and four was most likely from my experience of talking to so many Resident Evil fans, their first Resident Evil game. The game would have been decent if they would have kept up the pace and fun factor once you reach the castle. Boring!!!! It just goes on and on and I was so ready for that game to be over with. Code Veronica is among the best. Love tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds. I REALLY don't like 4, 5, or , 6. 7 was a little better, especially after letting you not experience it in First Person mode. I'll just keep playing code Veronica, 1, 2, 3, and zero and RE 1 GameCube remake. Glad some of you people like it or LOVE RE4, but I will be playing something different.
My opinion on this is that we should just wait before prejudicing the whole thing. That's it, just wait and ignore those who are unhappy with the trailers.
In my opinion Resident Evil 4 Remake is a game that wasn't necessarily needed but still a great welcome. I love RE4 but even I'll admit that their are certain game mechanics that I think should be refreshed and modernized in this day of age. A few examples are the tank controls, quick time events, and the constant switching weapons in the case menu. And based on what I've seen from the game play footage it seems that Capcom kept everything that was in the original and fixing it up while also adding new content for a fresh and new RE4 experience.
"Respect it as it's own thing" is unfortunately a contradiction in itself. Look, we live in an age where EVERYTHING across the entertainment world is being remade - music, movies and video games. We have had many decades of music covers and some songs are very refreshing takes on the originals, some are better than the original, but most usually aren't. Movies are a mixed bag as there is a blurred line between movies that have been made from the original story having been written in books, and so here you get a "war" between the readers who originally took in the story versus those cinema goers who have never read any of the books... they're a different media content and of course books can effectively be limitless in terms of content and they are largely driven by an individual's imagination. Movies and video games take that element away and present one limited imagining of the story and/or characters. What you must always remember is that the Resident Evil franchise originally came into being in 1996, and every main series game that has followed it is part of the franchise. When you say that a remake is it's own thing isn't quite correct because it will be forever and eternally linked, tied and compared to the original. Without the original you wouldn't even have a remake, sort of how like without the discovery of electricity we wouldn't have all this marvelous modern media we have today. We have to be extremely grateful and thankful to the original games and any remake has BIG SHOES to fill in trying to make a game that in it's creative soul is anywhere near as good as it. Sure we have fancier game engines now and graphics but if a game is pinning it's entire success on how it looks then sorry but it's already a failure in my eyes. The way to look at it was that everyone who was involved in the first 3 main RE games knew, acknowledged and embraced the fact that the technology back then wasn't amazing in terms of gameplay or graphics, however this meant that the soul and effort put into the game itself was always going to be more than it sometimes is seen to be today. Today's games have so much emphasis on graphics and release date targets that severely hamper the creative process. Much like how some music artists feel pressured into releasing another album within one year after the one they've just released, in order to appease the record companies and the fans. The album will arrive when it arrives, and in my opinion the RE4 remake should arrive when it arrives. It should not be rushed on some corporate conveyor belt on the back of a very successful RE2 remake and a modestly successful RE3 remake. Never forget either that the original RE4 was released in 2005, an entire 6 YEARS after the previous main series title RE3 released in 1999. Sure Code Veronica released on 2000 but this was developed almost in parallel to RE3 and gave the fans plenty of RE content to enjoy over those 6 years. The mere 2 years that have passed so far since the RE3 remake tells me how severely impatient and closed minded many gamers are today in 2022. If you want to experience and incredible RE4 remake then the fact of the matter is that it shouldn't be rushed. My fear is that RE4 will definitely be victim to not being given enough time it needs to make a truly graceful and as respectful to the original as possible remake.
I wouldn't call RE4 a waste of time, especially because no one has played it yet. I would rather have had a Code Veronica remake but am still excited to see how RE4 goes and am happy they are doing it.
That would be awesome, I like you’re idea. How long have they lived before they were all infected and how exactly did it start would be good to see even though the files in the original tell you the history but I’d like to see it actually happen.

See I'm okay if they cut things out, but they should try to find things to put in place of the cut content. My bigger fear is side modes like Mercenaries and Separate Ways being cut. I get re-imagining, but why does the re-imagining have to have less than the original? I mean the Resident Evil Remake way back when only added didn't take away. I get games were simpler to make back then but c'mon, especially with RE8 already giving them a lot of assets to use. Otherwise, I 100% agree with you!

Some people are just never satisfied with anything the developers come out with. Everybody was hating on the last of us remake. I ended up getting it and I’m loving it and on my second play through.
The thing with remakes and Capcom. They're jumping on the bandwagon of remakes. It's a trend they want to profit from. Sometimes I do feel that these remakes are a waste of time, but they just want to profit from the same product.
I'm very hyped for RE4 remake now !! Doing a remake run up to the release. Beat zero last weekend and doing RE1 remake now. Gonna go for a original run later. Original RE1 all the way up to Village and dlc. So fun to be a Resident Evil fan these days.

I don't mind the remake. My only issue is I firmly believe Code: Veronica should've gotten a remake first before RE4. By skipping it, Capcom pretty much plants the idea that CV is unimportant to the series as a whole. And that personally feels like a slap in the face as a longtime fan. Something similar would be like if Ubisoft had only remastered the first 3 Assassin's Creed games but skipped over Brotherhood and Revelations
Residents evil 4 needs a remake I am happy that they are making one when I played residents evil 4 it had a lot of issues with the game I played it on a xbox one I think a remake is a good thing

For the record, I'm one of the people who felt that the last games in the franchise (RE7 & 8) didn't felt like Resident Evil games at all.
Now they are good horror games but they would have been a lot better in my opinion if they had zero links to the Resident Evil franchise.

While I'm here, Capcom did something illegal during the development of RE8, they plagiarized a monster from some New Zealand horror movie named "Frankenstein Army" for one of their bosses (the one with a plane engine as its face), I'm surprised they never were sued or got any serious backlash for this.

I am actually VERY excited for the RE 4 remake. I think they realized after the negative feedback from RE3, that they took a wrong direction with it, which is why they didn’t use that same team. From everything you’ve told us about the leaks, I’m hopeful that this game will bring back horror and surprise us in a way we didn’t think possible. I wish the community wasn’t so close minded about the remakes, because I generally do believe Capcom is trying to improve the games since they know RE is a beloved series. If they can make this game the best it can be, it will pave the way for future remakes like Code Veronica and the Outbreak series. It’s ok to love the original games, if you are the hardcore fan who doesn’t want to play the remakes then don’t, no one is forcing you to. I think people just look for a way to complain about something, which is sad because there are a lot of people who enjoy the remakes. I will always love the original games, but I do get excited for remakes because it is another way to play the games I love so much. It seems capcom learnt there lesson after the RE3 remake and got the team that made the excellent re2 remake to do re4 justice.
Also i think thats a problem with fandoms is that a few fans have a problem with people liking the newer titles/remakes cause the newer titles didnt live up to their nostalgia goggles thus they not only moan about the newer games but they seem to have a problem with newer fans liking the newer titles.
I love the originals but i also love the newer ones for their interpretation of the older titles and how they can adapt it to a modern audience. If the newer fabs dont like the older games then its no big deal, there are others to appreciate those ones. I for one am excited to see the RE4 remake

I disagree on one thing, Capcom IS forcing us to play the remakes since the original games Resident Evil 2 and 3 aren't available on modern consoles and Steam. I'm one of the people who want the originals available literally ANYWHERE whether it's on PlayStation 4/5, XBOX, Switch or Steam.

My take is that even if RE4R ends up being another masterpiece, some fans will be screaming for "the things CAPCOM should have done". But again, let's not forget there is no such thing as sheer perfection. Because everyone has their standards. Critical thinking is always luxury in most situations. And those who lose this luxury will get freaked out.

I will fully admit that RE3 Remake left a sour taste in my mouth. That was a game where the more you thought of the original RE3 and all the things it has the worst the RE3 Remake got. My thought is as long as Capcom learns from that mistake and doesn't cut 60% of RE4 I will be fine. I am even fine with stuff being cut as long as its replaced with new things. Re3 remake was out sourced and not made by the a team at capcom thats why it wasn’t as great as re2 remake. Re4 remake is being made by the A team.
Re3 was a good game but it was a bad remake and i have played almost all of the re games but tbh re5 and re6 is way worst as its too action heavy

They will most definitely split the fan base if they don’t follow thru on a good RE4R, which will hurt them for years to come

RE2R was also a huge letdown. Don't get why people praise it so much. It was ok as its own game, but it lacks the zapping system that was essential in the original. That's like remaking RE3 but cut out Nemesis.

I’m excited for the RE 4 remake and I really don’t mind what they try with it.
The only thing I’d say they shouldn’t mess with is the pacing and fluid combat.
If they re make it in the style of re2 where the base enemies are bullet sponges, ammo is much harder to come by and your playable character movement is slower and more clunky than the original re4, I think that could make for a frustrating play though.
Other than that I’m willing to see where they take it and can’t wait to play 👍
My issue with the "re-imagining" of this game is this:
TL;DR - This game can't be re-imagined but only re-made and therein lies the problem.
The long version:
By changing certain elements of the game you risk disappointment. Sure RE4 is absolutely not perfect as you say, but it is considered a beyond masterpiece to all of gaming. It is not just a Resident Evil game, it is THE game to some people and something that was so cool it brought in almost everyone in gaming as I struggle to find anyone no matter what genre they like that hasn't played it.
See by making changes you set yourself up to the impossible, because changing it can have three obvious outcomes:
1. It becomes better.
2. It becomes the same/similar.
3. It gets worse.
The only acceptable outcome would be for it to become better because making it the same would be pointless if you are insisting on making changes and making it worse will make hell break loose. I'm being serious, you saw how crazy the internet got over RE3R and while the original RE3 is a big game within the community, it is still only within the RE community while RE4 is a game that was so big it is a huge game in not just the community but all of gaming history.
People lost their mind over the relatively smaller RE3R... Now imagine an RE4R flop... It could be company ruining huge. For those who don't believe this, imagine if someone wanted to make a "Re-imagined" Ocarina Of Time with changes and it flops, this game is that big too.
So now the company has set itself in the position of having to improve the game, so just imagine that stress and the size of said task, improve on no other than RE4... That is insanity.
I agree it could use some changes sure, but it's a very sensitive minefield to cross and we expect an improvement on a game THIS huge from someone that couldn't even handle RE3 THIS is why I'm personally freaking out.
I trust that they've learned form their mistakes especially now that they know the size of the matter they are dealing with here as this is not just a Resident Evil game, it's the literal grandfather of over the shoulder games. But it's just so ridiculous to me when everyone within the community has praised the old RE1 remake and said time and time again how that is the gold standard or remakes and EVERYONE wanted that for this game and they apparently had such a build with a 100% remake but scrapped it.
So now not only do they have to reach higher expectations than one of the biggest games of all time but on top of that IF it flops we will also now know we COULD have had the game we actually wanted but they scrapped it, the pressure is just too much.
What I personally would have wanted is RE4 in the new engine as is with movement while shooting but the laser gets shakier and shakier the more you move. Expand the Ada campaign to a long full story segment and give Louis a campaign too that starts on the island and he goes from end to start where he meets Leon etc. Release those as DLC and we're good.
I can't wait to see what they did but oh BOY is the pressure on CAPCOM now man, but as a fan of this game I want them to succeed but I just can't help but be reasonable and think they won't, guess we'll see.

RE4 remake looks interesting and it'll be great too see new enemies, and Luis getting his story expanded because he needed more time on screen in the original RE4 but was killed off too early. Dr Salvador aka chainsaw man getting his story expanded as well it would be cool if they explained how he became the chainsaw man. How the merchant is connected to the duke from RE8 and how Nemesis ties into RE4 remake since he was infected with the las plaga and how he was able to make las plaga zombies because there different than the las plaga infected towns people that Leon encounters.
Nemesis had nothing to do with plagas/las plaga. a Nemesis is created when the Nemesis parasite that was discovered inside Lisa Trevor is connected to the Spinal Cord of a Tyrant-00 (Mr. X). Umbrella had 4 Nemesis parasites, one Nemesis was too intelligent and had to be terminated when it tried to escape, one was sent to Racoon City to elimate S.T.A.R.S. other 2 unknown. this is all in files from 1 3 and CV. nothing to do with plagas. nemesis parasite.
Hard disagree. The purpose of a remake is to take a great game and improve upon the dated aspects of it while also maintaining as much of what made the game great as possible.
You can't just remove 50% of the content, change all the voice actors and nerf their personalities and jokes, and slap a modern coat of paint on it.
That is the recipe for a bad remake.
All this said, I respect your opinion and we all feel our own way about this.

I’m just as excited as when it was announced back in June for the State of Play. I’ve never been so hyped for a game at all till I landed with RE VILLAGE. Personally, I’ve not played the RE 3 Remake yet but I’ve seen the playthroughs. From what I’ve heard, the RE 3 Remake did not hit the ballpark as its predecessor did. Will that mean that Capcom would potentially miss the mark with RE4, who knows! But we can hope that they can take into note what didn’t work at all from the previous Remake installment-they have to. RE 4 is stellar and a classic and there’s room for improvement like shorten the prolonged journey through the castle. I have faith that they’ll do it better than ever & I continue to shout out that I cannot wait for March.

I was also really disappointed how they remade 3. The original Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was my favorite RE game. I was looking to see how the park, grave/gravedigger, dead factory, clock tower would look like. In the original 3 you also went through more of the alleys in the city which was fun too because you never knew where you'd end up.

RE4 being my favorite game ever, Im really excited for the remake. However, as a *RE* game I would've much prefer a Code Veronica or Outbreak remake. I think after RE2 and RE3, Code Veronica would logically have been the better choice remake-wise and story-wise. Outbreak NEEDS to be remade. Having a proper RE game (not like RE5, RE6 and Resistance) that could be played with friends would be nice.
Capcom probably prefers to first Remake the numbered games, followed by the subtitled games. Because if they decide to do RE 1, RE 2, RE 3, code Verónica, survival online, RE4, RE5, it's going to get messy. It's better to familiarize the audience with the numbered games first before jumping to spin offs.

sadly we live in a time were games no longer have replay value or good side modes. Games use to be shipped on a disk and what was on there was forever so devs would jam pack disks with content to keep players engaged ...so yeah it kind of is a waste of time in many ways forsure but either way its going to be really fun and hopefully innovative!
4 is an absolute master piece. However, whatever they change better hope it enhances the game. Like, I don’t want the Del Lago fish monster changed too much. I’d like the village to be bigger. Castle more exploring creepy stuff. If they make that U-3 a monster like the Baby from Village!? Holy shit that would be amazzzzzing. I’m really looking forward to this game. But not gonna compare it to 4. It will just be a different but hopefully amazing take.

And it aged even worse just 3 days ago; the Chainsaw Demo removed the Dr. Salvador that stays at the exit of the Village BEFORE you get the Shotgun, he used to be a very welcome side-challenge for me for a Ruby, but the guys of the Remake decided it wasn't fun or something... Stuff like that f-ing kill me, they no longer care over the little things and only care if it looks only decent for profits.
Edit: As I got corrected, the Dr. Salvador in question STILL is there, so I was mistaken for sure and I wouldn't want to spread misinformation, but there's still the problem that, even when I knew he was there in the OG, I didn't knew how to make him spawn in the Remake. It's just annoying, they changed something just to screw with my nostalgic memories, I hate it even if I'm glad he's still there.
I’m excited for the remake. I really liked the RE2 remake. And to have a shooting mechanics w re2 as a base, then expanded upon to make it more actiony, while bringing back a more horrific vibe is gonna be amazing. Being able to fuck up enemies the way we’ve seen in the leaks is gonna be fun af.

I played re2 & 3 remake and loved them. Started playing the ps4 re4, the game seems good, and the story is good, the controls need improvement. It’s just a direct port of the ps2 game. After getting used to ps4/5 games, it is hard to just walk around. Hope the do them all

Let me guess the people who complain about this are the same people who say it's not a true resident evil game unless it has a fixed camera angle and tank controls. And these same people hate resident evil 4 because it did something different and not what 1-3 did.
I've heard many people say they hate the game for these reasons:
.No more tank controls
.Movement while aiming
.Movement while reloading
.Not as sexualising characters
These are obviously stupid reasons to hate a game.
There is no discussion with RE4 die-hard fans. I really tried to get into RE4, but because I played RE 1,2,3,5,6,7 before it, I really could not find it so much enjoyable. Connected world of RE4 makes me think about original trilogy and amazingly well done exploration, while it's linear structure makes me think about all the amazing set pieces of RE 5 and RE 6.
Sorry RE4 fans, while playing this game, I was constantly asking myself: "why should I play this game over original RE or RE 6?" and couldn't find any valid reason.

Hello, coming back after all the reviews and I am so hyped to play, it seems to be getting universal praise so thankfully everyone's worries about the game have been answered aside from a few minor non game breaking things from what I hear.
Why a re1 remake though they've already done that once and it still holds up and is acclaimed for how good it is, why redo it for a second time, literally makes no sense and is more likely to have criticism because of how good the original remake was
I'm very sure Capcom are going to cut tons of contents out, RE4 is one of the longer game in the series if I'm not wrong, only speedruns with ditman glitch can't get it under 2 hours, so if it's anything like RE2R or RE3R, I feel that many contents and maybe areas might get cut. Though of course, I'm still excited for the game and looking forward to play it. I think the vibe alone sold it to me already, I can't wait to see the game in a darker tone. 😊

Why do people want the same exact game remade exactly the same?. If you want the cheesy dialogue, the over the top cutscenes, the same cutscenes, go play the original and just shut up. All of this complaining is annoying. If you want to be stuck in the past then stay there.
You and him make some points that I also feel the same as well. I kept saying that Code Veronica should have been the next in line to get remade as well as 1 and zero. The outbreak series needs love too. 4 has been remastered so many times and has been the foundation for many of the RE games after it. Yeah it's cool to play a remake of 4 because they could explain and tie things up more than they did in the original. Also, RE4 was a classic in terms of gameplay but RE4 was when the series storyline began to go to bad. They can change some things for example in the original I hated how when Leon met Ada again he acted like it was nothing to see her, especially after their ending in RE2. Krauser just being in there and mentioning bringing back Umbrella which that storyline was just forgotten. They could explain that the plaga was revived using the G virus sample that they stole from the Police department Luis used to work at. Saddler could have ties to Umbrella or something more to tie in with the RE universe better than what the original did.
I'm a huge RE4 fan and I have to say in a lot of ways it doesn't require a remake, me personally I like all three main areas of the game The village, the Castle and the Island are all perfect for me, and they have a great variety of enemies, one of the reasons RE4 is so good is the tone and the atmosphere, the gameplay it's different and with the remake it's just going to be like all the new games L2 R2 controller and it'll lose part of that magic, last but not least dialog but most importantly voice delivery the voice acting is fantastic and RE4 is already shaping up to disappoint in that regard Leon's Voice and Ada's voice are fine in RE2, because they feel younger that is not the case is RE4 Leon is much more capable and bad ass he's in hardcore mode from the get go and is remarkably resourceful, Ada is one step ahead and is a lot more prepared, sadly the voice delivery feels weak to me especially Adas and she's not wearing the classic Red dress, it doesn't make any sense I know but she looks so cool, and it's fun is balls to the wall crazy and it's a Video game just let it be, I get the feeling this RE4 will just be a sanitized modern version of the game, the only thing you can improve on RE4 and I'm surprised it wasn't mention in the video is the Ashly situation, that's all you need to fix to make RE4 an even better experience and it's not like you can't tell her to fuck off in the OG game.
I have some concerns about how the RE4 remake looks in terms of display, but I know it's going to be a lot of fun anyway. If Capcom were going to revisit the earlier entries, I'd love to see a new game set in Racoon City between the events of 1 and 2/3. A game that would focus on the chaos of the initial outbreak, Umbrella sealing up the town, the police and STARS trying to control the growing zombie horde (like that great cut-scene at the start of the original RE3), the fall of the RPD station etc. Setting a game here would give a lot of flexibility and a lot of opportunities for new locations and you could maybe rope in a classic character for the player like Marvin or Ben.
Most people that love resident Evil 4 did not grow up with the original three or Code Veronica (or were really just too young) and four was most likely from my experience of talking to so many Resident Evil fans, their first Resident Evil game. The game would have been decent if they would have kept up the pace and fun factor once you reach the castle. Boring!!!! It just goes on and on and I was so ready for that game to be over with. Code Veronica is among the best. Love tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds. I REALLY don't like 4, 5, or , 6. 7 was a little better, especially after letting you not experience it in First Person mode. I'll just keep playing code Veronica, 1, 2, 3, and zero and RE 1 GameCube remake. Glad some of you people like it or LOVE RE4, but I will be playing something different.

In my opinion Resident Evil 4 Remake is a game that wasn't necessarily needed but still a great welcome. I love RE4 but even I'll admit that their are certain game mechanics that I think should be refreshed and modernized in this day of age.
A few examples are the tank controls, quick time events, and the constant switching weapons in the case menu. And based on what I've seen from the game play footage it seems that Capcom kept everything that was in the original and fixing it up while also adding new content for a fresh and new RE4 experience.
"Respect it as it's own thing" is unfortunately a contradiction in itself. Look, we live in an age where EVERYTHING across the entertainment world is being remade - music, movies and video games. We have had many decades of music covers and some songs are very refreshing takes on the originals, some are better than the original, but most usually aren't. Movies are a mixed bag as there is a blurred line between movies that have been made from the original story having been written in books, and so here you get a "war" between the readers who originally took in the story versus those cinema goers who have never read any of the books... they're a different media content and of course books can effectively be limitless in terms of content and they are largely driven by an individual's imagination. Movies and video games take that element away and present one limited imagining of the story and/or characters.
What you must always remember is that the Resident Evil franchise originally came into being in 1996, and every main series game that has followed it is part of the franchise. When you say that a remake is it's own thing isn't quite correct because it will be forever and eternally linked, tied and compared to the original. Without the original you wouldn't even have a remake, sort of how like without the discovery of electricity we wouldn't have all this marvelous modern media we have today. We have to be extremely grateful and thankful to the original games and any remake has BIG SHOES to fill in trying to make a game that in it's creative soul is anywhere near as good as it. Sure we have fancier game engines now and graphics but if a game is pinning it's entire success on how it looks then sorry but it's already a failure in my eyes.
The way to look at it was that everyone who was involved in the first 3 main RE games knew, acknowledged and embraced the fact that the technology back then wasn't amazing in terms of gameplay or graphics, however this meant that the soul and effort put into the game itself was always going to be more than it sometimes is seen to be today. Today's games have so much emphasis on graphics and release date targets that severely hamper the creative process. Much like how some music artists feel pressured into releasing another album within one year after the one they've just released, in order to appease the record companies and the fans. The album will arrive when it arrives, and in my opinion the RE4 remake should arrive when it arrives. It should not be rushed on some corporate conveyor belt on the back of a very successful RE2 remake and a modestly successful RE3 remake.
Never forget either that the original RE4 was released in 2005, an entire 6 YEARS after the previous main series title RE3 released in 1999. Sure Code Veronica released on 2000 but this was developed almost in parallel to RE3 and gave the fans plenty of RE content to enjoy over those 6 years. The mere 2 years that have passed so far since the RE3 remake tells me how severely impatient and closed minded many gamers are today in 2022. If you want to experience and incredible RE4 remake then the fact of the matter is that it shouldn't be rushed. My fear is that RE4 will definitely be victim to not being given enough time it needs to make a truly graceful and as respectful to the original as possible remake.

I would rather have had a Code Veronica remake but am still excited to see how RE4 goes and am happy they are doing it.

That would be awesome, I like you’re idea. How long have they lived before they were all infected and how exactly did it start would be good to see even though the files in the original tell you the history but I’d like to see it actually happen.

See I'm okay if they cut things out, but they should try to find things to put in place of the cut content. My bigger fear is side modes like Mercenaries and Separate Ways being cut. I get re-imagining, but why does the re-imagining have to have less than the original? I mean the Resident Evil Remake way back when only added didn't take away. I get games were simpler to make back then but c'mon, especially with RE8 already giving them a lot of assets to use.

Some people are just never satisfied with anything the developers come out with. Everybody was hating on the last of us remake. I ended up getting it and I’m loving it and on my second play through.
The thing with remakes and Capcom. They're jumping on the bandwagon of remakes. It's a trend they want to profit from. Sometimes I do feel that these remakes are a waste of time, but they just want to profit from the same product.
I'm very hyped for RE4 remake now !! Doing a remake run up to the release. Beat zero last weekend and doing RE1 remake now. Gonna go for a original run later. Original RE1 all the way up to Village and dlc. So fun to be a Resident Evil fan these days.

The original RE was designed to be first person before they changed it. RE remake in first person with VR would be insane.

I don't mind the remake. My only issue is I firmly believe Code: Veronica should've gotten a remake first before RE4. By skipping it, Capcom pretty much plants the idea that CV is unimportant to the series as a whole. And that personally feels like a slap in the face as a longtime fan. Something similar would be like if Ubisoft had only remastered the first 3 Assassin's Creed games but skipped over Brotherhood and Revelations
