I like those 86-foot high cube auto parts cars at 31:00-32:00. I know people who have never seen them, but in Ohio and Michigan they were standard fare.
Well this video officially settles it. '93 was the last great year to watch trains. Funny how it doesn't seem like that long ago, but when you see the difference between then and now it's kind of shocking. Would've loved to visit these areas back then to see stuff. Now? Nah...
This was the END of railroading .... I can’t believe this was 30 years ago already. I miss CONRAIL and all of the SD40’s .... the only thing I don’t like about Marion is the trains are always coasting by in dynamic breaks. I prefer to hear locomotives roaring up grades at slow speeds
They operated the remnant of a New York Central branch from Berwick to Toledo (Stanley) for a few months after their April 1, 1976 start up. The last train was in December 1976.
1:04:54 looks like New Bloomington. 1:05:37 is at the Scott's plant outside Marysville on the Toledo Branch (called Scottslawn by the railroad -- in fact the block station was still standing at the time).
Magnificent Leslie supertyphon on first conrail!!😀
That 1st scene is on North Main Street Caledonia, Ohio. For those who are wondering: N Main St

1:01:55 I didn’t know GE made High hood diesel locomotives
I like seeing the Conrail slug at 105:00
Bunch of fresh long-runner flats
