Reviewing the CFK canoe plans and your video discussion of materials as to some pro's and con's, and how each point of design and fabrication amounts to a trade-off in some aspect of the boats; another trade-off hit me that I don't think I've heard mentioned before. It is this: The fact that in 5 or 10 years a typical plastic, wooden, or composite boat that gets a lot of use will often have scabs of patchwork/wear/blemishes on them. Whereas the skinboat might likewise have a patch job or two on it and wear and UV exposure, but at any time the skin can be renewed completely and the SOF builder has what appears to be a brand new boat. Could be a different color this time, or a heavier/lighter fabric/coatings. I think that's a tremendous advantage myself.
Wingspan. Height is only related to wingspan or fingertip to fingertip and we all have varying proportions of that. And I think that controls where you want the cam mount. So maybe give us your fingertip to fingertip measure and then others can more directly connect to your "ideal reach" position.
