Ep 1: Let The Cabin Build Begin | Setting Posts in The Snow & Mud
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- March is not yet over and our cabin posts are in the ground and concrete has been poured!!!
We still need to backfill with gravel but before we can do that, we have to find a spot to dig quite a bit of gravel which will be a tedious process with all this snow and the mud underneath it. That task will be coming soon! For today, we are so excited that the posts are set before a nasty 10-day forecast came in.
It took a lot of shoveling and long days to knock it all out but it was worth every minute of it to be so far ahead of schedule. We honestly did not think we would be working on posts until at least late April.
Now we have some smaller projects to wrap up while the forecast brings back the snow and the concrete cures under the insulation and plywood.
When we get back at it, we’ll be finishing the backfill and then building the floor! The floor to our future home! Our cabin!
THANK YOU as always for watching. Every view helps us grow this channel which helps us continue this life.

Can't believe you are able to work with all the snow and mud. Nice neighbor to give you all that wood. Girl, you are able to keep up with the guys. The cabin will be built in no time.
Really appreciate the time stamps and making such a current video. It's so nice to watch something that is "current" rather than a month ago.
Good luck building you are doing a great job. Henry is adorable love seeing his little face Happy Easter 🐰
Well done
I can't imagine dealing with such mud and melting of snow. Getting the foundation beams are the most important first steps to do. It is starting to be a home for you guys and Henry. Keep up good work. Looking forward to next week update.
Happy Easter 🐇🪻💫🪻
Happy Easter!
When you want something done you have to work rain ☔ sunshine ☀ sleet or snow you have to want it .
Henry is growing fast ❤
You guys should be so proud of yourselves. You'll be in your cabin before you know it.
Great work! Also, Henry is just adorable!
Sure is melting fast. Going to be fun watching the cabin go up.❤❤
It's great you are getting the post up. Henry is a cutie ❤
Do you guys have architecture plans to build it properly just to help build it better❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad to see you are making good progress on your cabin. Thanks for sharing.
Love seeing you guys working on the cabin and it's super cool to see all the posts up.
That's some serious mud you're dealing with. I'd worry about having plastic on the wood would hold the moisture in. You've got permafrost to deal with there though.
Wow ! A lot of snow to move then it wants to keep coming " Great job getting the posts all set :) Progress on the build as the mud season is coming soon, plastic around the posts a good idea, I hope your cement sets properly with the frost still in the ground "
So excited for you three
Thank you for sharing your journey and congrats on the progress!
Looking good, guys!😊
Great work! Henry is so cute. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you for sharing.

Question- what is a lock cabin? Google pulled up nothing when I looked. 🤷🏻♀️
HENRYYYYYYY so nice to see his cute lil face and cheeks. Ik the channel is about the homestead and I love that, love that it is NOT about him. But I will say it was so cute to see him in the chair
There are so many weirdos out there, so we try to limit his exposure. But he's too cute not to show here and there. ❤️

Innan ni bygger golv så gräv ned rör för avlopp och inkommande vatten . Även el . Då slipper ni allt krypande under huset . Vad tänker ni ha för golvisolering Stenull eller frigolit ?
👍♥️

20x24!
What size is the cabin going to be, i hope its not too small because you may have more family one day and its better to be a good size than to have a tiny space x
20x24!
Great job 🎉
Being an older woman now who was quite strong and lifting bales of hay and feed sacks when I was younger… I just want to gently comment that it does concern me seeing women on utube lifting 80lbs of dry concrete mix, posts and beams etc our bodies just aren’t built for that and there is potential to do internal damage. Especially during the child bearing years. Not trying to be a downer, I do enjoy your videos but would just wish you think about your limits- you are obviously capable of lifting that weight now but the potential long term consequences may not be worth it.
