I could listen to John sing all day long. Songwriting, phrasing, musicianship, production.... everything is always a true sound. This is what music is supposed to be.
WTF have I been? I consider myself an astute fan of American Music. I just discovered John at E-Town last year. How empty has my musical life been without him? A cavern. There is great hope for the genre!!!!! Rock on John.
Found John Fullbright through an interview he did with Red Dirt Nation about my friend Tom Skinner...it was a truly bittersweet moment...since Tom had just passed, but I found John Fullbright through him... Maybe it just Tom's roundabout way of giving me more great music! Thank you Tiny!
Have seen him live 4 times in last two years. He is so talented musically, but his lyrics come from a much older soul. He is amazing! Will see him in November and cannot wait!
Epic !! As someone who lives in the tornado ravaged mecca known as Oklahoma City, I couldn't be prouder that Mr. Fulbright is an Okie. Why so many mediocrities rule on popular radio nowadays, and real talent like this goes relatively unnoticed is one of life's mysteries that I ponder ceaselessly.
I saw John on Woodsongs and wow! I didn't know about him and sure glad I do now! He seems to defy genre....bluesy, folksy and who knows what else? He's very smooth. Nice stuff
Buddy Miller on Guitar, Looks like Don Was on base, amazing back up band to boot. Love this song!. My 18 year old son turned me on to his album, very lucky me!
I heard John perform Jericho, Satan & St Paul, and other amazing songs at the Kerrville Folk Festival, not sure how many years ago -- 2011? I hadn't heard of him before that and he blew my socks off. Wonder what he's up to today. Can't help worrying about such vulnerable artistic souls. He strikes to the heart with his words.
We have his Siberian blue cat via my best friends, Brad, way too soon passing... His name is Jericho! John Brad loved all you guys at Woody Fest and the band camp. Best believe that was what he looked forward to every yr! Love and miss ya Brad.
I didn’t really pay much attention to John when I added “Jericho” to my Apple Music Library (It’s an honor to make it I Into the library 😅), but I recently put together a hi fi system and heard it on the system. A better recording and a better track than I had initially realized! Excellent use of instruments like the organ and the harmonica.
I go searching through this world I wait on something to unfurl Thinking back on toys and paper dolls Now all I ever find are walls Tried to find myself out East Maybe find comfort there at least When I got there all I found Somebody burned it to the ground So let your trumpets blow 'Round the walls of Jericho Let your mighty voices sound Until the walls come tumbling down Searched for days for you out West And I was greeted like a guest Into the desert's open arms Finding not your childlike charms If these thoughts I hold be true I'll lay down my traveling shoes And let the vines grow over me Let the earth swallow my dreams And let my trumpet blow 'Round the walls of Jericho Let my mighty voice be heard Then speak not another word Throw your arrows and your slings And your other precious things Outside your gate I will stand tall As you cower behind your wall Look inside yourself to see Where these walls appear to be Let your soul step out to breathe Swallow whole your dignity And let your trumpet blow 'Round the walls of Jericho Let your mighty voices sound Until the walls come tumbling down. Encouraging folks to get this CD because it is, I think, a better mix. John Fullbright is incredibly talented as a musician, and lyricist... and as a song stylist. You can get an appreciation for that from the album. Each song is very different and diverse compositionally. I think it speaks to the depth of his stylistic range. Ouvres, Baby. Huevos, too.
Believe me!! I like Sturgill Simpson and Chris Stapleton. I think they are great. However, neither of can begin to compare to John Fulbright. There is no one out there who comes close.
I've become a fast fan of John Fullbright. Thanks to all the posters of his music. On a related note, who is the gentleman that introduced him in this video. I know who he is but can't put my finger on it.
Thank you Bridget. I appreciate it. It was driving me crazy, but I was so busy with life stuff I couldn't look it up. Part of my feels chagrined that I didn't know, right off, this iconic musician. Thanks again.
Joshua 6: 8-11 8 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them. 9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 10 Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.” 11 So he had the ark of the Lord circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.

One of our Okie geniuses; we are very proud of Mr. Fulbright
John Fullbright. the Bob Dylan of a generation.
Never would have heard of him if it wasn’t for Turnpike Troubadour.
Have seen him live 4 times in last two years. He is so talented musically, but his lyrics come from a much older soul. He is amazing! Will see him in November and cannot wait!
Quite simply the best thing I’ve seen on UA-cam in the last 10 years. What a wonderful song and a flawless performance.
That's not even his actual band.
Happy to be named Jericho. And to relate to this song.. truly a happy song

I found out about this guy from the British magazine Uncut. This song is so beautiful it never fails to thicken the walls of my throat.

He is good enough to have been in The Band. I’d give a lot to have heard him harmonize with those boys.
A unique soulful voice. I love this piece.
This guy is a straight bad ass. Buy his albums! Every song is amazing!

I love this guy he's got a good Style I like it a lot
I have never seen him put on a bad show, and the bigger the venue, the more he rises to the occasion.

I go searching through this world
I wait on something to unfurl
Thinking back on toys and paper dolls
Now all I ever find are walls
Tried to find myself out East
Maybe find comfort there at least
When I got there all I found
Somebody burned it to the ground
So let your trumpets blow
'Round the walls of Jericho
Let your mighty voices sound
Until the walls come tumbling down
Searched for days for you out West
And I was greeted like a guest
Into the desert's open arms
Finding not your childlike charms
If these thoughts I hold be true
I'll lay down my traveling shoes
And let the vines grow over me
Let the earth swallow my dreams
And let my trumpet blow
'Round the walls of Jericho
Let my mighty voice be heard
Then speak not another word
Throw your arrows and your slings
And your other precious things
Outside your gate I will stand tall
As you cower behind your wall
Look inside yourself to see
Where these walls appear to be
Let your soul step out to breathe
Swallow whole your dignity
And let your trumpet blow
'Round the walls of Jericho
Let your mighty voices sound
Until the walls come tumbling down.

love this song
And you can still find him playing in tulsa dive bars, backing up local musicians every week
this isnt Austin City Limits, but still good. This is the Americana Music Association awards at The Ryman in Nashville.
Correct however this recording came off an Austin City Limits broadcast last year. I should have clarified this when I posted the video.
"A 'ringer, a "keeper".......yep, he's something special". crcjr11

You're right. It is.

WIthout a doubt the most talented musician currently working. Writes lyrics like he's 40 years older than he is.
Spot on, Peter!
john is a complete original with song so real you know that if he didn't live them, he witnessed them up real close.
totally awesome. move over mr. dylan

Shhh. Don't give him a big head. I want to hear him make more of this stuff without crazy ego stuff. But yeah dude is good.
He's humble by nature
Wow.
Turn it up
who is lead guitar dude?
Buddy Miller
What's happening with John? I don't see much new music here.
Good song, good singing but that band , wow, Buddy Miller on guitar, really tasty. John's harmonica is very good.
Well he's no Hunter Hayes.
Thank God!

he was robbed by Bonnie Raitt of the grammy back then sorry, his album was better.
And yet Justin Beiber lives
One of the harmony singers is a bit flat ...
it is small thinking that calls this american Music....
