- A coin-operated amusement animation designed and constructed by Lou Nasti's Mechanical Displays Inc., in Brooklyn, NY. Unique to this device is that it has the ability to deliver an ever changing dialog so that the next performance is different from the one preceding it. There are literally thousands of variations possible. This concept can be extended to other coin-operated amusement devices. The character and phrases can be customized accordingly. these things are so much better then a arcade machine... i would love to have one of these in my house
she is so beautiful
gaaaah, I want one of these so badly. I'd love to design the characters inside
I'm actually looking to make my own machines like this.
wow she is good
At first I was only going to be responsible for the electronics design that manages the performance (i.e. payment acceptance, lights and motor control, audio playback). But the client did not have adequate 'fortune' phrases and I wound up having to do the research to learn about 'cold readings', the Barnum effect, etc in order to create a script which can generate thousands of performance combinations. I also designed the flickering light effect for the globe. A few thing need to be tweaked in the next version. Call Lou if you want one.
I would love to know what the full script is, and what all the possible readings are. I want to create a digital version of this.
Also, the voice performance is excellent. Really adds so much charm to the machine. Did you just hire an actress to do the voice?
@@Imaculata You've got to spend the time and do some research. There are many articles and books that describe the techniques of a "cold reading". Also I consulted horoscope and dream books. Tune the responses to your intended audience. I developed a method of generating thousands of different performances based on a limited number of phrases.
@@Imaculata I hired an actor from a nearby performance theater. She specialized in ethnic voices. I got lucky.
@@rakpix She did a really good job. This may be my favourite fortune telling machine. It captures everything I like about these machines.
Que bonita!
la gran izabella es muy bonita y te lee el futuro por poca pasta :)
Hmmm this is similar to tiffany music video all this time
Nope.
I'm leaving...
Unfortunately not much imagination has gone into creating this. Same repetitive arm movements, unrealistic face with no animation. Take a look at the 1908 Mills speaking fortune teller to see how advanced they were then for the time and that was completely electro mechanical. With todays electronic abilities having a mannequin head turning from side to side doesnt really cut it
Agreed. This is terrible.
hardrob999 This particular Fortune Teller animation was custom designed for a client with a limited budget. This placed limitations on what could be designed and delivered on schedule. Other motions and effects could have been added, but this is what the client wanted.
