My closet is full of now defunct games that were all hailed as the next big thing that was going to dethrone GW/40k over the past thirty years.
As much as I’d like to see it happen you’ll have to excuse my skepticism. Instead of trying replace 40k, just focus on making a good game and being your own animal and if it’s meant to be it will be.

Warlord should really publish a second edition of Konflikt 47, integrating the new rules and errata. I'd happily pay for a new book if they did so. They don't even need to add the new nations. But I do believe the rules should be compatible with Bolt Action 2nd Edition. The current K47 rules are basically ported from first edition BA.

Jumping ship from GW, and loving learning about different war games. Honestly im a lore guy more than a tabletop player, but i had been saving money to get a 40k army to learn and tabletop with until gw really went off the rails. Now im looking to get into different games. And for the price, its looking like i can get into several different games, build several different armies for them, for the same price i was going to pay for a 40k army. Plus, i can have a bunch of diverse models sitting around just looking cool when im not playing. And i gotta say, K47 sounds awesome, and sounds like something im going to want to invest in. I'm glad that Konflikt 47 is talked about more, a system that I definitely want to get into once I get the funds for it.
Also yeah I agree that parts of the lore should be expanded upon with a second edition of the game-on top of all the meta stuff.
One of the big things that got to me as I was reading was how wasteful the Soviet Union was during the invasions of Eastern Europe. Granted they had more of the numbers, but given all the wonder and horrid tech Germany posses and the countless casualties they caused on the Union, you would start to think there be some dissent with Soviet High Command or regular troops.
It's a good basis, they have something here and I would think it be a missed opportunity to not expand on it. Maybe the rifts operate differently depending on the location? How do the nation's populaces act with a dragged out war or new terror weapons invented? Something to make the world feel more real in this bizarro timeline.

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 роки тому +3

They say some things about the German army escaping from Stalingrad in good order, or Japan faring better at Midway (in 1943 instead of the correct year, for some reason), as justifications for the continued war, but completely ignore the overwhelming problems that remain, like the complete German lack of oil which is only starting to be addressed in late 1946 with thrusts into the Caucuses and Iran via Turkey, or the Japanese having a tiny fraction of the industrial output of the US. They would have been better served with introducing supernatural elements for the handwavium and adopting an entirely different history of the war, perhaps making it start later under different circumstances.

I have a hard time with the rules of 40k but i feel that Bolt Action make sense right away. Warlord Games is taking over. I feel like they are making moves that deserve our attention and money. Thanks for watching, Don. The really nice thing about Warlord, especially in contrast to Games Workshop, is that they respect their customers. Warlord bent over backwards to not alienate their fans during the shutdowns, supply chokes, and shipping delays (some of which are still going), even taking a financial loss in some cases. They would rather lose money than lose a customer. This is almost unheard of today in the world of exploitative, pump-and-dump business models.

but with my upgraded night attack jadgars units....several victory break thru's on the campaign map front lines
until my foe adapted and my was units destroyed...lol
dust is the same basic theme.....so more toys of the same scale to play with

As someone with a resin printer, A couple of things i like to mention to folks looking to get into one. Unlike with any of the various filament printers, there is some additional things you have to know/have to work with them. The first big one. No matter what, do not ever let uncured resin touch your skin. Contact dermatitis is not fun whatsoever. Latex gloves are absolutely your friend. It won't be an issue at first, but over time it will create a sensitivity and you'll start breaking out in really painful rashes. I know too many people who did this to themselves to not make sure people know about this when they are looking into resin printers. The other thing I recommend is get a UV curing station. You can cure models in a sunny windowsill, but it can take quite a while and may not cure evenly. And if you have a few days of clouds, your models will be curing for several days before they are ready. A UV curing box is just more convenient, faster and more consistent.
All of that said, I absolutely love resin printing for models. they come out so smooth, so clean and just look absolutely fantastic. I've printed models for all kinds of games ranging from demons for Reign in Hell all the way to heavily armored troops for sci fi games like Five Parsecs from Home, and they always turn out really well. resin printing is definitely worth looking into for all kinds of tabletop gaming

I also suggested painting the bottom of the sand pit with Mod Podge to help with the warping, and then gluing a bit of yarn to the rim wherever there are gaps and then gluing Lichen or foliage to the yarn. That makes a flexible border with the ground.

Yes sir, I will. I am going to put up some videos hopefully over the next week about my adaptation of the K47 setting and using other Osprey Adventures books ("Nazi Occult", "Nazi Moonbase", and "Cthulhu Wars") for source material, as well as public domain fiction. One thing that I abandon is the idea that WWII happened as it did in real life until 1944. There's just no way that the Axis could hold out two more years, unless maybe they were the only ones with super-tech, because they simply did not have the industry or the fuel. On the other hand, if you tweak the history so that the war starts later, or there are entirely different principles at work at the start of the war, you can do things that area bit more wild and yet still plausible within the context of the setting.
For starters, in my setting WWI played out differently, with a faster Russian collapse and a negotiated peace. America never enters the war, Russia never falls to the Communists, and Imperial Germany is in control of most of Eastern Europe. Throw in a lot of spiritualism from Arthur Conan Doyle stories, Edgar Rice Burroughs' Pellucidar and a Vril Society to conquer it, and Heaviside Layer entities sending mysterious transmissions to human belligerents and mix it up. I hope you'll subscribe to follow along with the hobby vlog.

@@attentionspanlabs sure will subscribe. That sounds really cool but if the US doesn't even enter the war than they will be at a huge disadvantage at the start of WW2. How will they have the experience from the vets previous wars? What about all the generals who rose to rank because of that war? Does the stock market crash still happen? So many factors. I agree that Germany couldn't last longer but if you change it that far back then so much changes. If the commies don't take over then the Soviets will be so different. Will Japan even have a reason to start conquering? Sorry to go off but it opens up so many questions.
But I can't wait to hear more about K47. And glad to see someone else liked the Osprey Adventure series. It's a shame they don't publish new ones.

Revell makes a 1/72 scale Haunebu II (German Flying Saucer). 1/72 scale is of course wrong, but since the Haunebu II didn't really exist (or did it?), it's hard to quibble over whether or not it is scaled correctly for the table. I began playing Dust 1947 during lockdown late last year. I saw a K47 starter at my local store and loved the walkers and panzerpunk kind of units so I picked up a German starter. Since I had the troops, I decided to check out Bolt Action... now I have enough troops for full Bolt Action armies for Germany, USA and Soviets.
I wanted to get a K47 American starter but it comes with the old US infantry, which is not very good by comparison to the newer plastics. I may still pick up some of the walkers because they are really cool. Only the fact that they are resin and metal has put me off somewhat. I prefer to work with plastics whenever possible.

Before I go and get accused of being a GW fanboy and jumping to their defense (I've seen the comments), I am a veeeery casual player who only kinda got into WH40k a little under two years ago, and only started actually building an army under a year ago. Their interactions with their fanbase in my limited experience has been pretty sh**ty, and their marketing practices while smart for getting them money, feel terrible as a consumer as they can string you along for a long time (still waiting on a damn 9th edition codex to even be announced for T'au). However there is a point that was brought up I immediately looked into because this game looks really interesting and I wanted to possibly get into it.
So I was taking a look at pricing, and while my experience is somewhat limited in WH pricing, they do feel slightly comparable to an extent. I do think there are some rough "equivalents" where Konflikt edges out ahead, and in general there are a lot more large/huge models in WH than Konflikt which would naturaly be more expensive, but there are also things like infantry squads where they can actually be slightly more expensive per model than some WH stuff (T'au player here, don't judge. Did a comparison of the cost of a box of fire warriors which in most stores is $50 which can support 10 models, and looked at infantry groups for Konflikt with similar to the same model count and was seeing price ranges from $44-58). Was seeing similar things with some vehicles as well but that was mainly off memory. It's mainly the low model count options where Konflict seems to really drop its price relative to games workshop which I can actually appreciate given how pricy a certain HQ unit I'm waiting to be restocked is. This is mainly an observation and not a major critique, but at least for me personally the relative cost is not a huge selling point for me (I also have a 3d printer that I enjoy using, so when possible I go cheap and just use that). Only bringing this up because the term affordable was thrown around, and the reality with "affordable" is that it's a somewhat relative term. Also depends on what you are interested in fielding.
Now, with that said, this game does still seem really interesting to me and I probably will dump some money into it once I actually have some disposable income. I enjoy the theme and have friends who would also be into it. While I'm not a major history buff like another friend of mine, I enjoy looking at the time period and like alt-history type shenanigans, especially if things get a bit weird with supernatural elements or sci-fi tech. It certainly peaks enough of an interest in me to have this go on a list of things to keep an eye on. Going to keep an eye out to see if I can find a rulebook in any local game shops, or if not just buy it from their website.

Unfortunately, Warlord raised their prices for many models after I made this video. I do not represent Warlord or Clockwork Goblin in any capacity, and I do not intend to speak for them, but I can only assume this is related to the diminishing purchasing power of the USD due to massive inflation, supply shortages, and perhaps other cost of business increases related to the superstitious, self-destructive policies of the Branch-Covidians that have virtually taken over the western world. To put this into perspective, two burgers, a hot dog, and an order of fries at Five Guys cost me $45 a few weeks ago.
Even so, Warlord sells a box of (for example) 30 US plastic multipose US Marines for $53 (previously $48). GW hasn't sold any unit of that size at that price point in at least two decades. Yes, these are standard Bolt Action miniatures, but most of any K47 is going to be standard Bolt Action miniatures. If you want to outfit an entire US reinforced platoon of Heavy Infantry in powered armor, you are going to pay quite a lot of money.
Also, Warlord is still doing a promotion to help offset the higher costs of shipping to the US, Europe, and the rest of the world by basically giving you a free unit with every order (including some of those $53 30-man units!).
Thank you for watching and commenting.

The settings are kind of the same - Konflikt 47 evolved from AT43, which came from the mind of Paolo Parente, who is the creator of Dust 1947 as well. The rulesets are completely different though. Dust 1947 does away with all of the stuff that causes squabbling in games like 40K and even BA/K47 - no possibility for movement shenanigans, range squabbles, line of sight, cover-or-not, or template placement. It's fast and fun to play.
