John Deggendorf You don’t realize how exciting “pay once” is until you try to buy even one camera app on the App Store. Subscriptions are everywhere now!
iFont Maker needs to give you an affiliate share or sponsor a video...your video just sold me on this app! I balked at the $8 price tag but after watching your video, I am ready to part with my money😅 Thanks so, _so_ much for this review tutorial!
The next step I take after doing a thorough test in multiple programs is to convert a copy of the font so that you have both OTF and TTF versions. There are free resources to do this online! Then I make a mockup of the font (showing all of the keystrokes, a sample sentence, and the font name) to showcase how it looks. That's it for my personal process!
The pen tool is there to allow you to really build nice fonts. I know that much. My problem is finding a video that shows how to take the space out, such as in the letter A. I accidentally did it once but can’t remember how. The pen tool, gives you much more control so IF you wanted jagged edges, you could do it precisely how you want. I’m trying to find someone who knows how to use the pen tool properly.
The pen tool is pretty straightforward. I tried to make this video as beginner focused as possible but I use the pen tool here and there. It's very similar to how the pen tool in Photoshop works.
Great tutorial Thanks for this video. One question🤔 Do I need pressure sensitivity or I can use other apple pencil alternative for drawing letters? I am going to buy non apple stylus it supports palm rejection and tilt sensitivity but not pressure sensitivity.
Awesome video! An almost perfect app. Exactly what I need. Thanks for this look under the hood. I actually like the smoothing feature, but I can see it takes some finesse.
If you can draw it you can make it into a character. Unless you have a font with musical notation already that you can use as reference however you’ll have to free draw them. Just turn off the alphabet guide in the text menu 🖤
Hi, thank you so much for the tutorial! I had a problem though with capital O and lowercase o going one after another in test mode. They seem to overlap each other and I couldnt find a way to fix it with kerning, and there were no extra objects in the way that could interfer. Woukd you have any idea of how to fix it?
When I’ve run into this problem it’s usually because either one or the other of the characters are too close to either the margin line or the right side. For example if the majority of characters stop on the right side at, say 70px, but one letter goes further that letter will impose on the character next to it. Another culprit could be a tiny pen stroke on the writing area , pushing the letter forward or pulling it back. Lastly, I’ll try to move the characters using the move tool (crosshair arrow at the bottom of the screen). If these don’t work I’ll clear the page of the offending characters and rewrite them. I hope this helps!
Very random question. I've invented a language and it does not properly fit over the alphabet here. I'm wondering if I load up will the font load up English letters not replaced by the editor?
@@genevievemazer I guess what I mean is, if I dont fill the 26 letter alphabet. Let's say I left P blank. When I load it up to google docs to test will P be on the keyboard still since I did not fill it with a character? Thanks for the reply by the way! I've been having fun with the program since the other day and glad I found some tutorials.
I believe there are third party apps that allow custom keyboard fonts. I know you can install the font onto your phone to use in notes, etc but pretty sure the native keyboard doesn't recognize any that aren't stock.
Both are adjusted from the Preview panel at the top of the editor in the center. You can type sample text or you can use the Pangram options as guides.
I’ve not found an app this will do it for free. There are ways to do so in other programs on a regular computer but usually these come with the price of either limited character design (build using their shapes), sketchy permissions (if a program or service is free, YOU are the product), or they let you build the font but then you must pay to have it sent to you.
Every single free option I’ve tried has been either “free” meaning you create them all you want but have to pay to actually export them or only computer based and NOT user friendly with a gigantic learning curve. Not worth the aggravation from my seat but someone else may have better luck 🤷🏻♀️
Just bought this app today. There are other good options but this is the best...simple, functional and pay once. Thanks for covering this.

I'm considering making another of these videos! There is so much more that the app can do that I didn't cover so as not to confuse people 🖤🖤
How do I flip a piece of stroke? I'm in pain for two days it's riddiculus
GREAT video! So easy to follow! Do you have a video on what to do next to get it ready to sell...the steps to take, etc.? Again, VERY good tutorial.

Great tutorial
Thanks for this video.

Any capacitive stylus will work!
@@genevievemazer thanks
Thank you ❤👌🏻👍🏻
Nicely broke down and explained. :)
Thank you for your fantastic tutorial. Once you've done your font can you install it on your computer for, for example, photoshop?
Absolutely! You can install it in tablets as well!
how to make ligature in ifont maker?
There are spacing options in the Preview window that make lining these up possible. It's not 100% intuitive but I've made it work on a few fonts.
Awesome video! An almost perfect app. Exactly what I need. Thanks for this look under the hood. I actually like the smoothing feature, but I can see it takes some finesse.
John Deggendorf It definitely helps is you have a shaky hand. Plus you can go in and adjust every tiny stroke after you make it.
Can you insert a svg file when you have designed a letter in a program like adobe illustrator?
Appelmoes Yes! This tutorial shows you how to do it! 2ttf.tumblr.com/post/180785913712/importing-svg-files
Hi, thanks for your nice and very well explained vídeo. I have a question, does this app works with musical symbols?

hi i want to ask, is using font creation in ifont maker not imitating other people's copyrights
That's why u draw your own, is common sense
Will this application work with Russian letters?
I don't see Russian as an option yet but they did just open up Japanese so I'm sure you can request that they add Russian as well!
Thanks for this informative video. One question though, does it work only with the Appls Pencil?
It certainly does! And that makes it a LOT easier!
I use procreate to design custom fonts... Will this program allow me to use custom brushes like I use in procreate?
As of now it only allows for glyphs to be made in app. I’d love to be able to import glyphs!
Very random question. I've invented a language and it does not properly fit over the alphabet here. I'm wondering if I load up will the font load up English letters not replaced by the editor?
You could make any shape or character you’d like. They’d be keymapped to the key you assign them to. 🖤

I’m almost positive it will leave it blank. I know it leaves symbols blank.
Is there a way to add it to the keyboard so we can use it in messages?

You can use it in any app or program that allows custom fonts 🖤
I dont see “ profile download” on mij ipad settings. Where can i find that?
It’s under “Settings-General-Profile and Device Management”
