@Ali91694 Because They were dumb enough to get rid of Kat and need to get rid of more money to stay under the second apron. Minnesota is not doing well and may make another desperate move. That's my hope, anyway
@davidchudleigh1249 The talent would be the draft capital and Maxi, who plays better defense than naz. Next years draft is stacked. Dallas has a late first plus a rising second. Draft picks are cheaper in the long run than 15 million dollar bench player. That's my take on the matter
I would go to Gaff and offer him the extension now. Whatever it is they are ok with paying. Be north of 15 I'd imagine. Then you get a sense of where he is mentally on his future with the mavs. He's gonna be a free agent after next season so if he wants to start elsewhere or get bigger money(or both) and doesn't do a extension. Mavs probably have a very high probability of being fools if they don't trade him by then. Course they are in a small window with Ky and Klays age. Getting Herb Jones puts the mavs defense back at the top and makes their window much bigger. Problem is how great our center tantum is and we don't want to go back to powell. Well when you look at the stats, Jonas is in many, beating Gaff. Now that's a more offensive Center vs a Better Defensive one. But if you can work it out in getting Herb Jones (mostly for Gaff and young/still untranslated talent) and Jonas as a back up for cheap. I think you do that, especially if he rejects the extension.
If Indiana is willing to part, I'd go after Obi Toppin. Or a trade with Portland for Thybulle and hope his injury heals up in time for a playoff run. I was bummed when Lakers got DFS, though.
Honestly trading Gaff and other assets for Herb Jones, then replacing Gaff with Valenciunis seems very enticing to me. One of the better proposals I have seen, although I agree with the notion that the Pels are not trading Jones for anything
Thank you for spitting facts on the Herb Jones thing. I was the one who posted the *hypothetical* ability to trade Gafford for Jones on the Mavs sub and for like two weeks straight my inbox was exploding with people crying and basically throwing tantrums at the idea of Gafford MAYBE being trade able. Just pure insanity. Herb was *first team all defense* over Caruso, Dort, McDaniels, Derrick White last year… like you said thats someone you could throw at SGA or Tatum for 40 minutes a night while also spacing the floor in the playoffs while Gafford will get played off the court by Porzingis or Chet because he always gets played off the court against any big that can shoot. Herb PJ Lively would be the best defensive frontcourt in the entire league you would just hypothetically need a *solid* backup center to soak up non Lively minutes.
Tbh I’d rather just keep gafford. It would be a lot harder to replace him. Especially considering if lively gets injured. DFS just went to the lakers for 3 2nds im pretty sure we can pick someone up like that.
I’d be down for kuzma if it’s an absolute steal of a trade, don’t want to give up a lot for him.
Respectfully Heck no. Go for Naz
@@MrDeidara13And why would Minnesota give up Naz

@@MrDeidara13 I think they would only trade for more talent, who would we give up?

People calling for Naji or Gafford to be traded don't know basketball 🤦
For Herb fair enough, but these other trades like Kuzma are just stupid

Either Swing for Naz Reid or Stand pact and keep accruing assets

@nosliwec Same, but if the Lakers continue to be a dumpster fire then he might actually have a chance to come back though free agency
I dont want Kuzma.

Especially not a center who can’t stretch the floor
Hi did you hear that trade from me. I think that would really work.
We need a long athletic defender. That’s it nothing else.
I really like the idea of Clarkston
Thank you for spitting facts on the Herb Jones thing.

On paper it would work but its the intangibles you arent accounting for

dinwiddie has a pretty decent season? he's shooting 30% from three and 36% overall the last 12 games
Gafford is balling leave the Mav’s fan base for that
Main thing Mavs need is healthy. If they stay healthy second half of the season they should be at least in WCF
Malachi Flynn is a wild comment 😂
If the Mavs go for Kuzma they CANNOT trade any starter also not Lively, Naji or Grimes
Bro kuzma did not say he wants to come to Dallas…. Bro bipolar af
