- Defiantly worth the watch as a unique crew of Navy Veterans help resurrect the USS MAZAPETA. She is a historic tug that spent her life in the San Francisco Bay pushing the big ships around.

Sorry to see that she foundered ... I ran the tug in 1978-1982 when she was the LeRoss with Sanders Towing in Benicia. She was handy boat for single screw ... fond memories of long hours and varied ship/barge work.
So glad to see veterans not letting us forget that these vessels have a life and a soul!
The wife and I went by there today to see the cool ships we have been watching on UA-cam. We we’re both super bummed to see this one and one other sank. Any chance of doing a video talking about what happened??
I love the old footage. Don't worry about the quality of the film work. Please release all the old clips you haven't published yet!
I sure hope they can get her going. What a great group…having fun.
I didn’t mention that she is 100% operational?
Just discovered these boats on a random family cruise on Sunday afternoon! I've been in this area for over 40yrs and love new adventures! We'll be trying to catch the fireworks tonight from this area!
I've been wondering about that ship in front of the Aurora. Great to learn about her!
The footage is lovely, the crew seems to be having fun. Just a grand old time.
It gives me so much encouragement to see historical structures being embraced and restored. It's also really cool to see the memories and community it brings together. Lookin' pretty suave with a mustache, by the way!
Absolutely!
When you get the Aurora fully back to functioning again and do some sailing I would love to be on board. She's a beautiful ship, and I would love to stay on board for a couple of days.
As would I
Do you have many years of life left ?
@@austingode well yes I'm 19 I got many
Any questions you have about Detroit Diesel can be answered by BUS GREASE MONKEY. He has a great channel.
What a great bunch of friends!
Great story. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed
Hello Chris, if you see a truck camper from the U.K. pull up tomorrow give us a wave. On a road trip around the USA and just have to call by to take a picture of Aurora. Have been watching your wonderful works with great interest, keep up the good work. Also following Ship Happens.
Those jets gave me goosebumps, definitely miss working with planes.
Like the lads work on the tug
Great bunch of guys.
I remember going under the golden gate on CVA-43 many moons ago
Fantastic! Keep up the great work!
I'm a vet too and i show [Attention] Respect to them for that amazing work.
That would appreciate that. Goes to show that you never loose the valuable lessons from the Navy.
Awesome job guys
Very Cool
Great episode as always, I missed this show.
Best video ever!
This video ie really about experts, and I like it! I saw expert mechanics, chefs, communicators AND pilots. :)
Wish I was closer I would come help.
Thanks, A few of the guys fly in from long distances. Just has to be worth the trip..
Such a great video!
Thanks
pretty sad coincidental crossover episode on the adventures with a purpose channel. They just recovered a body of a missing man (Jacob Vanzant) in his crashed car a few hundred meters in front of where you have aurora tied up....
Lovely Story about Mazapita… I think she deserves her own channel and all her friends being known also
I know its not exactly a happy topic, but I noticed the Aurora and her tug in the background of the most recent recovery from the Adventures with a Purpose channel. I did a double-take, but looking closely at the drone footage from their video and compared to your vids, I was able to confirm it...
Yeah I saw the Aurora and the Mazapeta in the background too. That's the first video of theirs I've seen where I was immediately able to go, "Oh, I know where that is."
I went and looked at the satellite picture myself, crazy
this boat is cool and easy to get too, pay them a visit.
She needs volunteers…
@@AuroraRestorationProject I have been there before and i plan too very soon I'm local I can hold a torch!
@@mr.j1381 These ships definitely need the right crew.
Sad to see this ship sink. I had a friend who owned her about a decade ago. You guys put a ton of work into her. Sucks.
Yes, This was a very sad day for the Mazapeta and all involved in her restoration..
Do you know if she'll be able to be recovered?@AuroraRestorationProject
What's the possibility that you will be able to put a crew or something like this together for the Aurora?
Very good possibility.
Is the Mazapeta going to have her own channel? If so, I know I won't miss an episode.
any updates on this tug and it being sunk?
seen few comments saying it sunk and on google maps it looks sunk
What's the song at the start there man? That one hits!
Good question. Came from a royalty free sight. Not a bad sound for a video intro.
What happened? Both have now sunk
Navy gets fed well,, or the boat sinks,, - my Senior Chief,..
Even thought she sunk, but is she still restorable when you guys bring here afloat?
What’s is the possibility of getting a few of Aurora’s engines running?
We will definitely be firing up at least one his summer if not more.
@@AuroraRestorationProject That’s great to hear! I’ve been very impressed with this project so far!
@@gregsbiplays9899 Thanks, Now I just have to keep up on the videos :)
@@AuroraRestorationProject How will you keep her from firing off the props if there's no bridge? Is there a cutoff in the engine room?
It's too bad they stripped that tugboat of all her original parts that's too bad. btw I don't know if your aware of it or not but it's hard to hear what their saying with the background music! being so loud. Man, they did a great job! rebuilding those rheostats for the motor voltage circuit on the tugboat.
When will there be a video on the Aurora?
Ask and you shall receive. Actually lots of videos coming. Several are currently in the works for the Aurora.
That’s excellent. I absolutely love this project. All the way from the UK.
How do you volunteer?
This is a good start. Check out the Facebook group for the USS Mazapeta and join up. I will be giving word dates on there soon.
Ok,doing ship assist work is a good way to help pay for the restoration of the Aurora just saying. The tug has life in her still.
She would definitely require inspections and a bit of TLC before she is capable of returning to service as a commercial tug but not out of the question by any means.
@@AuroraRestorationProject she’s ie better then some tugs I’ve worked on. Like a typical ex navy boat these Detroit’s looked like they were well maintained no oil sprays on the bulkheads.
As navy veterans don’t need to tell you what BZ means Guys.
Too bad you're on the left coast 😂.
Keep up the great videos
More coming soon. Thanks :)
