    i am glad that you have chosen to record this train show . i like the way the models interact with the kids . may times the kids are left out of the picture as they are the next generaton of modelers . i also liked the fellow who was selling the toy cars @ $1.00 a shot. you go to swap meets ( i dont know what you call them in oz?) the dealers sell them " by the book, " and children cant afford that ( they are after the collector market). we have a fellow here who dosnt sell used trains at outragous prices in the same way the model car dealer does . keep up the good work in promoting this great show.

    Very very nice train show (saw this earlier but alas, writing comments on a phone is difficult). They've really got the whole kit there for a great day out. Some of those sets are just lovely... but think of the time! Live steamers were always going to be a risk, I guess some people feel they paid off. The Rocket model however is very nice, thought it would have had more issues being so small. I'll have to see if I can get myself to the show next year for the big one!

    • @leokimvideo
      @leokimvideo  8 років тому +1

      +XtremeTrainz The Hornby Live Steam is a very curious beast. When it's set up right it's totally amazing, but on this new layout all the voltage drops need to be fixed. It's sad Hornby dumped the Live Steam idea.

    • @emdB67
      @emdB67 8 років тому +2

      +leokimvideo I've seen the Hornby live steam running very well at a trade show with a Hornby rep flown over to Melbourne to demonstrate it. I agree. Set up properly on a track made to handle the high current needed, they can run very well and set an extra challenge in operating them. There's quite a delay in the loco responding to the controls. So stopping at a platform is quite an art - as is the real thing. :)

    You know Leo, I recently purchased a train set called the ghan, which is an Australian train, it has a red American styled locomotive, and three coaches which I was surprised to see the American influence. The only other Australian train I have is the Indian pacific. If you've heard of these trains, I can tell you the coaches used by both trains have an obvious American influence.

    • @emdB67
      @emdB67 8 років тому

      +TheNw1218 I'm guessing that is the Frateschi-made Ghan. The models are actually Brazilian prototypes, repainted for the local market.

    • @BritanniaPacific
      @BritanniaPacific 8 років тому

      emdB67 Oh, that. Well, whatever. I have been on the real ghan train from Sydney to Alice springs, Australia before. The coaches of the real train, as I said before, bare a strong American influence. If you look at the coaches used by the ghan, you'll know what I'm talking about.

    • @emdB67
      @emdB67 8 років тому

      +TheNw1218 Indeed I do. Tri-ang / Hornby also had Canadian carriages that were sold as Australian carriages. Lima also had some nice models of Indian Pacific carriages (first made in the 1970s) which have also been sold in North America in Amtrak and Canadian Via Rail carriages. Yes, all similar in appearance. :)

    Great Job Leo, have you ever thought about going to Thornleigh or Liverpool model railway show next year?

    • @leokimvideo
      @leokimvideo  8 років тому

      +JTT James The Trainer Transport Vlogs I do go to the Thornleigh Brick Pit (Queens Birthday Weekend) train show, many people there speak highly of the Liverpool show. My video of the 2015 Thornleigh show is yet to be edited. They had a problem this year of not having enough displays...loads of empty space on the floor. Lesson there is small gauge railways don't take up too much space. They had fillers there that were half built layouts. Problem with the larger train shows is it's very difficult to make good videos because of the other people there and separation between trains and audience. At St Lukes I can get right up close to the displays, thats important to make a good video. If I'm made to stand 2 mtrs away from a N Gauge layout it's almost impossible to video. Thornleigh is very much like that.

      +Twinswords We have Hotdogs in Australia too. But quite often at these kinds of events or small group fundraisers etc, you'll be offered sausage in bread (sausage sandwich) often with the choice of plain or with tomato sauce and perhaps grilled onion. If you have a more "manly" hunger to satisfy, then there may be an option of BBQ steak in bread too. :)
