I get disappointed when I don't see seal pictures and when watching channels such as CEE, keep expecting to see seal pictures. It is like expecting to hear tappy tap tap or release the schmoo, or "click".....oh wait, wrong vidjeo and channel on the doobly doo.
I would sand it clean, spray with brake parts cleaner allow to dry and use one of those two part epoxy kneading stick gas tank repair kits. Work well on old plastic tank of dodge truck.
"I'm just gonna put together a quick venturi...." John these are the exact golden nuggets I love taking from watching your work. But really they're the bonus. Your show is just good for the soul. 😊
Thanks for the latest post. For a content junky like me, its good to have a subscription like FarmCraft who consistantly posts regular videos on interesting topics which I can sit back and enjoy. Thanks again Jon
For a fellow backhoe owner, super kudu to your workmanship and as a former videographer for realtree outdoors,i can tell you the amount of work and dedication to film and editing is unreal. Many things. Your the man.
Youre a great teacher mate, even though ill Never work on something like this, the way you go about it and show/tell us (even with the errors in doing it) is addictive and wonderful to watch and Learn from you. Youre an Inspiration to us all and I appreciate it. I hope I made sense there as im a bit of a blockhead with words. Cheers.
John, just another little trick to try on stopped up grease fittings. I've found that warming them up with a Mapp gas torch does the trick more times than not. They don't have to get cherry red, just enough to soften the old hard grease inside.
I have enjoyed this series. I was thinking of the old saying "patience of Job" when you were working on the frame leaks. I liked how you fixed the gas tank and think you could do a separate video just on that fix for anybody with a leaky plastic fuel tank.
Always entertaining videos Jon. How about a visit to the pond that you built? I think that would be cool to see how that turned out. That was quite a bit of work you did on that bad boy.
@FarmCraft101 awesome! Thanks, Jon. Like you don't have enough going on. I'll continue to pound the Like button and leave little comments no matter what. It's great real-world content. Sometimes, situations suck and you just have to power through. Keep it to the firewall.
Is it high flow? It matters for the bush hog. If you want more room under the tank you can cut a hole directly over the tank and face mount plate over the hole. I think on the New Hollands that adjustment for stop movement may also adjust the left and right wheel speed, so if you find that it's not going straight, that may be your adjustment. I'd still highly recommend two buckets. You'll use the toothed bucket as much as the straight bucket. Nice machine and good job!
Yes this is a point Bill makes and one I was going to mention.. I think these machines have an auxilary flow rate of 62 liters /min (if I remember correctly..)
I do enjoy a FarmCraft video on a Friday evening, These machine refurb videos definitely make good content. Thanks for the effort you put into releasing these videos.
Brass hammer and a 9/16 Craftsman wrench!! You are my hero!! I'm always amazed when I see professional people using a steel hammer when they should be using brass or composite.
Rihno mowers are bullet proof. I've seen people smack boulders with these things on hundred horsepower tractors and they shrugged it off. All of the local municipalities in my area use rhino, they're an established staple name in the attachment industry, they're three-point tractor mowers are phenomenal, I have one and so does my dad, a lot of these have gearboxes on them that still run quad zero grease which is basically really thin grease. Farmer down the road isn't exactly known for taking care of his stuff, and for the better part of the last 30 years he owned the mower I can say with confidence the gearbox has been at least 80% water, I split the box cleaned it and filled it back up with oil, and honestly the gears didn't look like they were any worse for the wear. If you have an opportunity to look at a rhino mower next to most competition, just the thickness of the steel alone will probably be enough to sell you on them. Don't take my word for it though do your own research for sure!
Not one leak after you're done. That's pretty amazing. Congrats. You almost always expect something older like this to leak a little. Thanks for the content.❤
I'm sure somewhere in the comments someone has said - removing bucket would have not only given some room and the leak would allow the attachment plate to flatten on ground. Thus allowing cylinder piston removal:)). Great Vid young man:)))
Quick Attach / Erskine Attachments out of Fosston, MN makes great skid steer attachments, great prices, very heavy duty. I could be biased since they're close to home but we use them for all of our equipment attachments like snow blowers, brush mowers, forestry mulchers, etc..
Yup they take all of that into account during the quoting process and ask all the make model and specs of machines to specially build to spec for the specific machine.
hello john ive been a welder and fabricator all my life since i was 19 years old and im 64 now and still working not because i have too its because i love what i do to help people out as well as big buissneses. so i will say to those mounts you welded they are more than suffice and will not fail in service and if the arm chair crowd on youtube dosent think so they can go fluff there dusters.
My grandfather always said ''When in doubt give it a clout, the bigger the doubt the bigger the clout --GET A BIGGER HAMMER'', you're a stubborn bugger John! all the best from NZ again
Andrew Camarata has a pretty neat method for drying out the last of a fuel tank. He stuffs some blue paper towels inside and then sticks an air nozzle inside and blows them around
Your level of ambition and ingenuity is beyond MacGyver.. While I don't always agree with your action plans I am always impressed with your results. Good job Jon
Maybe check into a flail mower instead of a bush/brush hog, I’ve never used one but flail mowers look pretty impressive for what you are going to do, keep up the great videos and I’ll keep watching!
Great video Jon ,you are a very talented person, and I love your can do attitude, I don't know how you get all those replacment parts, but I learn something new with each video. Thank you.
Suggestion for your shake siphon. Put a hose clamp on the hose on the end piece/valve....that piece has a tendency to fall off hose over time as hose softens from fuel exposure...just a suggestion.
I run a 2006 Caterpillar 252B and have a Carolina Attatchments XBC7 brush cutter for it. I have abused it and had literally zero problems out of it after 2 years. Always appreciate your videos!
I’ve use an air hammer during my 46 years of aviation repair to remove rusty and stuck bolts. Seems the rhythmic action of the hammer loosens everything.
Hi Jon. I absolutely care about how you spell your name. I'm glad you told us. I consider using, pronouncing, and spelling a person's name correctly a great sign of respect. P.S. My fav part was the diesel venturi!
We all like Dozer! Very nice work on the Skit Loader. It really looks like the designers put a decent amount of thought into how to easily maintain it.
Just seen it again Jon, it was as good as the first time, awesome results, you must feel satisfied knowing that little machine is up to spec again, 👌👍 Javi G.
For the drive creep adjustment, the two bolts you loosen to make the adjustment is holding a steel bar that is holding pressure on two cam folders. The steel bar gets divots worn into it and the cam followers are prone to seizing, this makes it extremely difficult to get it adjusted properly and it will fall out of adjustment quickly. You can flip the steel bar 180 and get a fresh flat surface or mill a bit off of it if both sides are worn out.
If the lift brackets are flat on the underside then some wood or rubber placed in between is good to prevent steel on steel sliding (which is surprisingly easy to occur).
Oh man, I watched to see how you’d get out the beveled pin. 😅 Front seal is leaking (after 26 years), but I had the other one rebuilt 2-3 years ago at a shop. Perhaps I’ll remember how I got it off. Thanks for the detail. 👍😎 I bought my NH in 1998, and it’s been incredibly handy.
33:00 your becoming an expert at repairing these. I was watching an old man who was a pro equipment operator. He was working on a very old cat that had sat in the bush 30-40 years First thing he did was look at the pistons clean them off and fix any high spots, file and emery cloth. You wet a rag with thin oil and wipe the crap off them before you even run the equipment. Same thing with a cars power antenna . If you make sure they are smooth and clean they should last longer. The old guy was in the outback down under, he got that old cat running and drove it
I bought the Gladiator from Rut for my skid steer to make trails because it has the carbide tips underneath to help grind up material. The problem is that it leaves 3” stubbles. The hockey puck design of the blade bolts are lower than the carbide tips and they get the brunt of abuse trying to get a lower cut. The Gladiator is built like a tank, very happy with the quality. It will take down 4-5” material easy with a low flow machine.
Jon, ratchet strap whatever your lifting to the hoist arms when you get them in place. Don't have to worry about any kind of balance once the arms are spread enough and the load is tied down! Hope that helps!
Fantastic channel John,I'm abit like you but in Australia,Jack of all trades but master of none. Its the joy and satisfaction when a job is done and the sense of achievement when it works out well and of course giving a finger to the experts and saving a buck.
Rut makes awesome attachments. I have used them for years and they are super tough. Also their customer service is one of the best around in my opinion. Tell Ira at Rut I said to give you a good deal !! I love your channel! Wish I could bring you my 1976 John Deere 550 Dozer, so you could work through it and tighten up all the slack in the blade . lol
I've been using polystyrene plastic glue (that you use for model cars) to repair plastic gas tanks for years and never had a problem. I always use the Testors brand. It basically melts and welds the plastic together.
For sealants, caulk, epoxy, anything needed to be smoothed to a joint , use a pieec of ice- It will not stick to the goo and makes it easy to work into a shape, cove , smooth etc. and no clean up. Makes a perfect bead and looks factory finished.
I built a front mount bush hog for an LS180 out of an old 3pt mower for about $600 bucks. Very easy. Works well. Everything bought from surplus center.
Great video once again, learning a lot from you thank you and I agree threat manufacturing does seem like they make stuff that will last for farm use as well as commercial use
I have a Rut Manufacturing 6’ Terminator cutter on my standard flow JD 316GR. It is pretty heavy duty, but I was able to break it…but welded it and made it stronger.
Bobcat makes a good bush hog. They hold up pretty well in the rental world which is a pretty good test, parts are widely available, price is reasonable.
I've got a 72" Rut Terminator that I run on my 75hp machine, nothing but good things to say about it. I have hit pieces of concrete and rocks covered in thick brush on jobs with absolutely no issues. The 72" model is decently heavy for a 9000lb machine and can get a little tippy of shear hillsides, but that comes with the territory when they are built heavy duty. Will mow down 4" Locust,. Not the ideal attachment for that, but it will do it.
I have a Rut Mfg. 42" brush cutter that attaches to my mini ex. I use it for personal use and family pasture trimming. I love it and it is well built. I live 2 hrs from there and drove down and picked it up.
I been running a few different made in China to German spec skid steer brush cutters and flail mowers. All of them have 1,000+ hours and no issues any other machine would have. Have a large pecan orchard and we use them to grind the limbs we hedge out of our trees. Not intended use but much cheaper than a mulcher and let me say they have withstood the test of time.
Excellent fix on that fuel tank. I've seen a lot of folks forgo using the fiber mesh to reinforce things, but I've never seen any epoxy crack if it's had a bit of drywall mesh stuck in it. Another "cheap" fix is nylon pantyhose. It's just a mesh, after all, and some times the thinness of the stuff can be a boon. I've even used the guts from some 550 cord to add a little reinforcement. I'll definitely have to try that PC7 epoxy again.
This is fantastic farm craft! Many thanks for taking the time putting this instructional video together. Regarding the brush hog, low flow attachment required?
Hey Jon , on the bushhog for your skid steer check out baumalite I don’t know if they make that implement but Tony’s tractor adventure on UA-cam uses them and they seem to be great as he claims. Great videos and series of all your repairs, keep em comin!
Awesome Channel. I have some experience with these machines. Should have the bucket off. Remove the pin at the quick attach plate lower cylinder. You can rebuild the cylinder leaving the top cylinder pin in place and pull the inner rams out. The pin at the top will hold the cylinder while you loosen the spanner nut on the cylinder. If you elect to remove the cylinder (with the quick attach pin out) you can wiggle the entire cylinder by pulling the bottom end towards the center of the machine and the taper pin at the top will come out. Clean the taper with brake clean and do not lubricate or use never seize on the taper during reassembly as it is designed not to spin. torque to 80'lbs.
I have a New Holland L170 so about the same size as yours. I run a Loflin Fabrication (Denton, NC) mower on it. Very well made. Rated for 18gpm(my hydraulic flow is 17.3). Has a direct drive motor that is grease packed(no oil to leak). 3/4” Parker hoses.
There’s a video on adding tracks to tire skid steer it about 4 years old. He was testing the inexpensive set and did a one year review. I will check to see if I saved or flagged it. Thanks for sharing. The channel is “ Stoney ridge farmer~over tire tracks on a skid steer”.
I have used black "nylon" zip ties to plastic weld similar plastics. I think it would of worked if you had used a thin solder tip and drove it into the hole, melting the tank plastic with the black nylon. Keep poking the solder tip in and out until the nylon turns gray, because the color change shows you when the two molten plastics are "mixed" together. Also from the video it appeared that your solder tip was not hot enough. It took me a few fails to figure this out, so don't give up because plastic welding is a cheap and effective repair technique 😀
I was really pleased for the tanks sake that it sealed ok, I could feel you frustration over here in AUS and might I add that I have never seen the name Jon appear so many times in the comments, good job John…lol
I have used Seal All to repair gas tanks, It works in the the presence of gass and dries hard. All repirs thru 3 decades out lasted the time I used the equipment.
Just drill a small round hole then get a stainless steel sheet metal screw an cut a short 3/8” long section of fuel rubber hose cut as square as possible w /pex hose cutting pliers ,,,,,,, I personally used this method on a punctured 5- gallon plastic Jerry fuel can,,,,,even after 20-years of continuous use,,,, still zero leaks,,,,!
I like the Rut MFG blades and bolt's (biggest problem with CCP units). They look very similar to the Brown tree cutter blades. Always weigh the blades and try to balance the weight. I wouldn't get the carbide tipped with you having rocks. I'm not sure the exact difference between an XP and a Terminator XP, but I'm sure a visit will cure that and you can look at their service. Your not new to bushogging, but your going to be a lot closer and you keep it on the ground, not having that very expensive life saving door. If you can get a spare rim and tire, they might be nice. I changed RTV tires this year due to flats. I was running the Kubota Std solid tire pattern and went to a smooth/cleated style which is greatly helping.
It's a small thing, but I always chuckle at the little seal pictures. I appreciate the time you take to keep this gag going.
I get disappointed when I don't see seal pictures and when watching channels such as CEE, keep expecting to see seal pictures. It is like expecting to hear tappy tap tap or release the schmoo, or "click".....oh wait, wrong vidjeo and channel on the doobly doo.
I love them too. Even if thier corny the kid in me loves the humor
I would sand it clean, spray with brake parts cleaner allow to dry and use one of those two part epoxy kneading stick gas tank repair kits. Work well on old plastic tank of dodge truck.
it time to take a look at the pond you dug for your neighbor last year
I second that motion!
Video dropped on that today, you were a week, then few hours early
Dozer is barking at his echo, my dog is barking at dozer. It's an international language!
My dog jumped to, lol. Dozer making internet followers.
"I'm just gonna put together a quick venturi...."

Protect the gas tank with a rubber mat material. between the skid plate and the tank

Farm Craft 101 is my favorite channel. Jon, you're a pleasure to listen to and always funny. I learn a lot and enjoy all your mechanical projects!
I owned a Rut Tree Slayer on my mini excavator. I don't believe you will be disappointed. Good quality and great folks to work with.
I have enjoyed this series. I was thinking of the old saying "patience of Job" when you were working on the frame leaks. I liked how you fixed the gas tank and think you could do a separate video just on that fix for anybody with a leaky plastic fuel tank.

He needs to know the flow rate and size his rotary cutter accordingly.
Hello from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada great videos thanks for sharing with all of us 😊
I do enjoy a FarmCraft video on a Friday evening,
These machine refurb videos definitely make good content. Thanks for the effort you put into releasing these videos.
Brass hammer and a 9/16 Craftsman wrench!! You are my hero!! I'm always amazed when I see professional people using a steel hammer when they should be using brass or composite.

Great feeling to see how well your repairs held up, turned a problem child into a real tool!
Not one leak after you're done. That's pretty amazing. Congrats. You almost always expect something older like this to leak a little. Thanks for the content.❤
Grinder and paint, and percussive maintenance. You sir are a mechanic of my own heart. Hahaha.
I'm sure somewhere in the comments someone has said - removing bucket would have not only given some room and the leak would allow the attachment plate to flatten on ground. Thus allowing cylinder piston removal:)). Great Vid young man:)))
Great video John , I know I or ready as you if at all possible
To show some pictures of that pond you did last year 🤞🇬🇧👍
Quick Attach / Erskine Attachments out of Fosston, MN makes great skid steer attachments, great prices, very heavy duty. I could be biased since they're close to home but we use them for all of our equipment attachments like snow blowers, brush mowers, forestry mulchers, etc..
The most important thing to know is the flow rate of his hydraulic pump. The mower/mulcher must be sized accordingly.

You're the man Jon, I aspire to be more like you.
Great work John. You persevered and did Val Justice. Well done 👏
Maybe check into a flail mower instead of a bush/brush hog, I’ve never used one but flail mowers look pretty impressive for what you are going to do, keep up the great videos and I’ll keep watching!

Suggestion for your shake siphon. Put a hose clamp on the hose on the end piece/valve....that piece has a tendency to fall off hose over time as hose softens from fuel exposure...just a suggestion.

Hi Jon. I absolutely care about how you spell your name. I'm glad you told us. I consider using, pronouncing, and spelling a person's name correctly a great sign of respect. P.S. My fav part was the diesel venturi!
HI Jon. Obviously you could put a paint marker on the gland nut /body a visual indicator of coming loose. Best regards Don
Great video. Has the pond you built filled with water yet?
Great question. We need a pond-fill update!
We all like Dozer! Very nice work on the Skit Loader. It really looks like the designers put a decent amount of thought into how to easily maintain it.

Good Video John. I will be watching for the bucket repair.
Another great video, Jon! Really enjoy the problem solving as you work your way through each issue. Scott
Your skills are remarkable. I really enjoy seeing you work through problems. It inspires me and helps me have hope for my own problems. Thank you sir.

I built a front mount bush hog for an LS180 out of an old 3pt mower for about $600 bucks. Very easy. Works well. Everything bought from surplus center.
My LS180 is Lo-flow machine btw
Great video once again, learning a lot from you thank you and I agree threat manufacturing does seem like they make stuff that will last for farm use as well as commercial use
My conclusion from these videos is that New Holland is made for sales, not for use. They saved in material thickness that caused most of the problems.

Hopefully, after lowering and weight is put back on vehicle from all 4 wheels, the welds continue to hold. Love your videos Jon!
I been running a few different made in China to German spec skid steer brush cutters and flail mowers. All of them have 1,000+ hours and no issues any other machine would have. Another engineering master class! Thanks John!
Now refurbish the bucket, I love ur videos they r better tutorials then the manuals
Great job Jon, perseverance pays off

Jon, you are a great “FIXER” !!!!
This is fantastic farm craft! Many thanks for taking the time putting this instructional video together.
Regarding the brush hog, low flow attachment required?
14GPM.
Jon - Recommending RUT MFG here. I bought their 36" disc mulcher for the mini ex and love it. Quality made, would buy again.
Hey Jon , on the bushhog for your skid steer check out baumalite I don’t know if they make that implement but Tony’s tractor adventure on UA-cam uses them and they seem to be great as he claims. Great videos and series of all your repairs, keep em comin!
Stay safe and we'll see you next time.
Great content, good dog, I have 5 of them, and my father in law as 2 that were part of our 1st litter. Thanks for the content!
You are a patient true craftsman!
Very thorough repair project!
Nice work as always.
I keep a vacuum cleaner just for that sucking purpose. Might be wrong. But I used it many times.
Doing a great job keeping us engineers in superb video's!
Totally killer content. Very enjoyable! No leaky!!! wtf?
Iron Craft, is a good manufacture! Dan from Arms Family Farms uses quite a few tools from them!
I have used Seal All to repair gas tanks, It works in the the presence of gass and dries hard. All repirs thru 3 decades out lasted the time I used the equipment.
Great y. Excited to see the work on the bucket
CID Brush cutter. I've tried to break it with my Bobcat 864, but haven't. Built like a freaking tank. Make sure your skid steer can handle the flow.
Great work on the loader!
Great job. Good video Jon. Have a good weekend.
No more fuel leaking Nice Jon 27:38 @FarmCraft101
I always enjoy your videos, Jon. Keep ‘‘em coming!
