      Today is February 12, 2024. On February 13, 1983, Marvin Gaye sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the NBA All Star Game. I'm passing it on to my Facebook friends.

    Marvin created another comeback hit with this classic. Whenever he played it for his friends they told him it was brilliant and it was going to be a major hit. They were right. Sadly this song earned Marvin his only Grammy awards and he was happy to win. He told the audience I waited a very long time to win. A Class Act

    This song is bittersweet because it's the very last hit song he recorded before his untimely death at the hands of his own father. Of al his wonderful hits in the 1960's and 1970's, it's this song that cemented his place in music history. And yes, alot of people were conceived to this song. Lol

      Gaye's death certificate
      In the early afternoon of April 1, 1984, Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents in the family house in the West Adams neighborhood of Western Heights[5] in Los Angeles. He became involved in a physical altercation with his father, Marvin Gay Sr.,[106] who shot Gaye twice, once in the chest, piercing his heart, and then into his shoulder.[106] The shooting took place in Gaye's bedroom at 12:38 p.m. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. after his body arrived at California Hospital Medical Center, the day before his 45th birthday

    • @StayGold711
      @StayGold711 3 роки тому +20

      @Friends clips not exactly. His version came out in the 80s, not the 70s.. I was a teenager when the song came out. I'm 52. By your math I would have been 2 years old so I know your math is highly inaccurate. Sexual Healing came out in the 1980s.. not the 1970s and the song IS NOT ALMOST 50 YEARS OLD. In fact, the original commentor IS CORRECT. The song was released in 1982. It's 2021 now.. the song will be 40 YEARS OLD NOT 50... DUH

    • @StayGold711
      @StayGold711 3 роки тому +8

      @Friends clips maybe you should of done some homework and got your information accurate before you came here making yourself look stupid by telling someone with 350 likes that they are wrong about how old the song is. You know what aggrivates people the most? People like you who come along accusing other people of being wrong, while you yourself are completely oblivious how absolutely incorrect you are. You owe the original commentor an apology, and I advise you never to play a game of Music Trivia.

      As a person with a Musical background, I have been a fan of Marvin Gaye ever since early on in his musical career. Not only was he a musical genius, he was also a very handsome man. His music will for ever be very special to me; and of course many others.
      I recently played the tape regarding his addictíon and the spate between he and his father. The most painful memory of him is the sound of that fatal gun shot; followed by the flurry of activity
      to save his life; but his time had come and he suddenly left us. RIp musical genius 1:24

    This song was talking about how when having sex with the right person (not casual sex that this world promotes) it can literally heal your body. “Whenever blue teardrops are falling, and my emotional stability is leaving me. I know you’ll be there to relieve me, the love you give to me will free me” “ if you don’t know the thing you’re dealing” most women don’t even recognize their vagina has the power to heal when aligned with the right person. We should all remember sex is a major transfer of energy. All praise to the most high for allowing us to experience Marvin Gaye the genius

    Early 1980's when this single first came out, " Mike Lippenstein's Bar formerly at Bay Place, and Shore Road in Seaford Long Island- the Bar's jukebox had the single song when it first came out. I was eleven years and an only child. My parents were clientele of Mike's and I as a child got to go once every three months.
    At that young age ran a tab, drank orange soda on the rocks,... etc. The Bar closed a few months after this song by Marvin came out. The " Rail" as his establishment is forever a memory now. The Bar was decommissioned as he and his wife retired and moved permanently to Florida. A nearby Marina purchased the bungalow Mike's Bar was in years later, knocked the building down and winter storage for smaller pleasure pays is on the footprint of the former venue. Thank you Marvin, they played your Healing song this morning on morning drive time !😊( 2024)

Was kinda sticking up for his mom and after him and senior exchanged some more words about the misplaced papers? Senior went and got his gun. He then shot and killed his extremely talented son, Marvin Gaye. Weird but true; The gun Marvin was shot with, was the same gun he gave to his father as a present! Chilling, but true!! I wasn't there, so I can't vouch 100% that I truthfully know exactly what happened, but I think this is the just of it.

    Happy 80th birthday Marvin! Silky Silky Soul Singer!
    I remember seeing you in concert at the Lake Charles, Louisiana Civic Center several months before you were selfishly taken away from us! It was one of the best concerts I've been too. And when you sang Sexual Healing wearing your red silk pajamas and dropped your pants 😂 I don't think my city ever recovered from the screaming crowd. Rest peacefully in God's loving arms and thanks for sharing your undeniable talent with the world!

    If you were in Detroit back in the day then you'd remember a place Called Ben's High Chaparral. This was the cabaret, a place for grown folks. Man we used to get the car detailed, a hair cut and pick up our outfit from the dry cleaning. Cause the fellas were gonna pick up our honey tonight and hit the club. Here you could see night club acts like Marvin Gaye or Anita Baker perform, then you'd drink and dance all night. If you were in the know, you could have a special affect if you had a lil Erb to top off the night. Awwh Man...Back then!

      To answer the question: Marvin Gaye was shot and killed by his own father. I believe that it was right after the release of the recording for Sexual Healing. Marvin's father had been a Pastor at some point, but had been living with Marvin in his own home. There was an argument about $, and Marvin Sr. shot Marvin Jr in cold blood. Marvin Sr went to jail for the murder and spent years in a medical prison wing. Marvin Sr now deceased.

    • @ellenlartz2499
      @ellenlartz2499 4 роки тому +6

      To Question Everything: I heard years ago that Marvin Sr was found to have mental health issues, and that was why he spent the majority of his sentence in a medical prison wing.
