Very good idea for choosing a color palate in that room. As an Interior Architect/Designer, I would have looked around to the room to find the thing I could NOT change. And in your case, it would have been the brick. So by using the peachy, salmon, pink colors, you played to the brick color and made it blend in rather than stand out. That is always the advice I give to people choosing to start a room from the bottom up. The color of your brick is beautiful - soft and varegated. Works perfectly. The rug you chose was the beginning of tying the brick into the room.

Selena, Thank you for a delicious video. You proved to us, only buy what you love, move it from room to room every Season, to create another vignette. I always move around some of my art, work into another wall to refresh another hallway or corner. Having fun is so motivating to me. When I am done with a piece of Home Decor I either sell it in my Etsy Shop, or gift it to a friend who always loved it, often I donate it to GW. A long time ago I learned this trick and suddenly the Universe provided pieces I never dreamed of enjoying in my home. I love French furniture and decor,just provides me with a happy heart. Driving home today I noticed one of the recently boarded up Victorian homes on my neighbourhood has been torn down so it makes it especially comforting to see a home that is being loved and cherished and up kept so lovingly ❤ Your careful curation has created such an incredible feel to each room. Wow! I actually heard you are supposed to hang the curtains below the beautiful molding so the first thing I did in my Victorian was to lower rods to see the beautiful woodwork. The candle thing, I have almost depleted the special ones so may start buying again. I have been addicted to battery operated candles for years and timers are the bomb!! They are ideal in our old houses due to lack of wiring. Everything is spot on. Even the hydrangeas did that years ago. Solid advice. Lol even that twine thing been tying stuff forever with it. Sure we aren't sisters? 😂
I absolutely love the hydrangeas. We were going into a restaurant last week right before it got dark, and there had those exact flowers...bunches of them. I wanted to get some of them so bad but wasn't interested in going to jail...lol I almost asked management if it was okay to cut some of them but my hubby thought I was being a crazy lady so I refrained
I am so happy to hear you speak about choosing paint colors. I have found myself in tears of disappointment more than once over paint colors. Absolutely do some samples. Look at the paint at different times of day to see how the light changes it. I could go on and on but I will spare everyone 😂. I love your flameless candles and the Limelight Hydrangeas with your tablescape. So pretty! BTW there is a blog, Between Naps on the Porch. Her tablescapes are so imaginative. The blog is all about home decor. It is like falling into the rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland.
Selena I have followed you so long I remember when you found most of the items. The beautiful mirror you were so afraid someone might step on and break. Calling Pete to bring the truck. The bronze (unknown use) with the dragon how you caressed and loved that piece. Some of the art work and chandeliers how you and your mom guarded them. I'm so glad you got the horsehead plant stand! I just loved those tiny hooves too!! I am also a no-paint antique furniture enthusiast. Those old pieces are built better than any furniture store pieces today, and the wood grain is just so beautiful when it's treated right. You have such a beautiful house, and I love watching you find those gems in the wild - they come alive when you decorate with them.😊

I was at our local ADRC today & they had hydrangeas & another floral plant unknown to me. And I would have loved to cut one of each & put it a copper vase. They were a pretty tan. I only once chalk painted a small antique chair but it was damaged so I was ok painting it. I have a French bedroom set in a mustard yellow lacquer which I would like to repaint but too scared to touch it. This whole room is stunning. Cozy and warm, and pretty! Design sometimes lacks that aspect in order to be 'new and on trend", but your style is timeless and beautiful. And i love how you have your curtains. I wouldn't want to cover that gorgeous trim either.
The best place to find vintage and antique items is from your older relatives. Those items also come with a history. The best way that I have found to keep them straight is to do like my auntie did and write information on who gave the object to her and a year, if possible. This was taped to the underside of the object. My elders were glad to share their things with me as they got older and wanted to declutter. I phoned them once a week or 2, and we would talk about houseplants and relatives and so on, and I'd talk about decorating a room and my aunt always had something that she thought would look good in there, so she'd send it to me. I now have an entire vintage and antique filled house, along with a couple of family ghosts, just from keeping in touch, and taking the elders in as they got too old to want the fuss and bother of home ownership any more. It was far more restful for them to wake up and see their family photos and other things around them, even if they didn't know where they were, they knew they were in a safe place because family photos and knickknacks were all over the place. Right down to the favorite coffee cup.

@VintageBombshell I watched this for the first time last fall and went crazy over the tablecloth. Couldn't locate one anywhere but was able to score even more napkins in that fabric than I'm likely to use ( and that's saying another given the amount of entertaining we do!). In the process of hunting that tablecloth found two more new to me ones for autumn and fabric yet another. But....I cannot give up the hunt for one like yours.

Funny you mentioned windows/curtains, I would never put up curtains, it's not me, nothing on the walls either, it's not me. I have only blinds in the windows it makes clean lines, industrial looking furniture/motif in my home. That's why I LOVE your channel, your home is lovely and I so enjoy seeing other ppls desired decor :)

I am so happy to hear you speak about choosing paint colors. I have found myself in tears of disappointment more than once over paint colors. Absolutely do some samples. Look at the paint at different times of day to see how the light changes it. I could go on and on but I will spare everyone 😂.

Selena I have followed you so long I remember when you found most of the items. The beautiful mirror you were so afraid someone might step on and break. Calling Pete to bring the truck. The bronze (unknown use) with the dragon how you caressed and loved that piece. Some of the art work and chandeliers how you and your mom guarded them. Hearing your nervous laugh I knew right then Selena's buying that. It is amazing to watch your eyes dart over the tables and the entire room. Looking for that special piece to call your own. I'm so glad you got the horsehead plant stand! I just loved those tiny hooves too!! I am also a no-paint antique furniture enthusiast. Those old pieces are built better than any furniture store pieces today, and the wood grain is just so beautiful when it's treated right. You have such a beautiful house, and I love watching you find those gems in the wild - they come alive when you decorate with them.😊

I binge watched you when I had my hip done at the end of September. I go in for my knee in January and I'll be binging again😂. I was at our local ADRC today & they had hydrangeas & another floral plant unknown to me. And I would have loved to cut one of each & put it a copper vase. They were a pretty tan. I only once chalk painted a small antique chair but it was damaged so I was ok painting it. I have a French bedroom set in a mustard yellow lacquer which I would like to repaint but too scared to touch it. This whole room is stunning. Cozy and warm, and pretty! Design sometimes lacks that aspect in order to be 'new and on trend", but your style is timeless and beautiful. And i love how you have your curtains. I wouldn't want to cover that gorgeous trim either.
The best place to find vintage and antique items is from your older relatives. Those items also come with a history. The best way that I have found to keep them straight is to do like my auntie did and write information on who gave the object to her and a year, if possible. This was taped to the underside of the object. My elders were glad to share their things with me as they got older and wanted to declutter. I phoned them once a week or 2, and we would talk about houseplants and relatives and so on, and I'd talk about decorating a room and my aunt always had something that she thought would look good in there, so she'd send it to me. I now have an entire vintage and antique filled house, along with a couple of family ghosts, just from keeping in touch, and taking the elders in as they got too old to want the fuss and bother of home ownership any more. It was far more restful for them to wake up and see their family photos and other things around them, even if they didn't know where they were, they knew they were in a safe place because family photos and knickknacks were all over the place. Right down to the favorite coffee cup.

@VintageBombshell I watched this for the first time last fall and went crazy over the tablecloth. Couldn't locate one anywhere but was able to score even more napkins in that fabric than I'm likely to use ( and that's saying another given the amount of entertaining we do!). In the process of hunting that tablecloth found two more new to me ones for autumn and fabric yet another. But....I cannot give up the hunt for one like yours.

Funny you mentioned windows/curtains, I would never put up curtains, it's not me, nothing on the walls either, it's not me. I have only blinds in the windows it makes clean lines, industrial looking furniture/motif in my home. That's why I LOVE your channel, your home is lovely and I so enjoy seeing other ppls desired decor :)
