Listen, I don't want Fergie on the board or as an ambassador either, Fergie should really just be retired but I would rather have Fergie in that role till the day he dies than have this guy in the managerial job for another millisecond.
"Let's get rid of the one person who knows anything about football in the club", seems like a good idea to me. As I'm looking at this, I'm remembering when Benfica sacked Eusébio from their ranks in the late 90s. Actions from desperate people who know nothing about what they're doing. Time will take care of showing this in two ways: either Man Utd bounces back in 10 years (yes lads, it's gonna be that long) under someone else's leadership, or when we're watching Man Utd in the Championship...
I wonder if the people cheering the 'ruthlessness' of Ineos will be in a similar frame of mind when they increase ticket prices for supporters? Sadly, I suspect it's an inevitability.
Man Utd, founded by an extremely wealthy businessman, gifted the countries largest stadium, bought titles in the first few years of existence. They're recognised as one of the biggest clubs in the world and rightly so, but without huge outside investment 120 years ago they'd struggled to have even been an Oldham Athletic.
2 million a year for life for doing nothing - no wonder he never spoke out against the Glazers and always praised them - he's no angel; but was a good manager for which he was very well paid and allowed him to become a multi millionaire.
@@louisaraiza314 Fergie could have sunk the Glazer takeover easily. The men who lent Glazer the money to purchase the club insisted on continuity of management. Keith Harris and Andy Walsh tried to persuade Fergie to resign which would have killed the Glazer deal and allowed Nomura to take the club over and reinstate Fergie. Fergie did nothing and the rest is history. His reason was the number of staff at United dependent on him for their livelihoods.

I've been saying for ages, we will never move forward as a club while Fergie still has influence. That's not a dig at Fergie, he's the best thing to ever happen to the club, but football has changed since the days of Fergie
The fans wont like this but imagine the message this sends to the players. I think this is a way to make the players realise they can’t rely on the name of Man U to win them games, hasn’t been working. They have to persevere and be mentally strong. I think doing this is almost like a wake up call for those that have been living off the past hype and not doing their jobs properly
What message does it send to the players when they gave a 30 year old dusted Bruno Fernandes a new contract on ridiculous wage. He’s now stinking up the place and we’re stuck with him for another 3-4 years. Lmao! So much for sending a message to the players.
They're not ruthless they're tight - there's a difference. They have no problem keeping a guy bringing us shame on a weekly basis (because it'll cost 16m to get rid of him) but they all of a sudden know how to fire when it comes managers who have brought us glory because it costs money to keep them in their currently role. If someone told them they could save 50p by sacking EtH he'd be gone by midnight.
Apparently they would have had a long discussion with SAF and have made provisions for him or granted him a pay-out. Can they also cut some of the players salaries too?
Fair enough. He is absolutely minted, no need to pay the man a huge amount of money per annum following retirement. It also helps the manager without the ghost of Fergie.
Ruthless decision should have been sacking ten hag back in April when it was clear team will not finish top4. Would have saved lot of those money as well which were invested on eth flop players this season

A reminder that selective ruthlessness (which is what many fans are indirectly asking for when complaining about this) is favoritism at best and discrimination at worst.
Fergie must’ve been close to stepping down anyway, he’s 82 ,he’s had a serious medical condition in recent years, he’s wealthy, doesn’t need the money and doesn’t need the stress. Maybe he should’ve been asked quietly to voluntarily stand down from his paid ambassadorial role
I feel shock when i saw the news. I think 2Mil is not a lot when you are paying footballers like 200-250k a week( ie only 2 mths of expenses compared with footballer) but i think it’s more abt respect than money.
We could be in a lot of trouble with FFP (especially if the Premier League come down hard on City) if we’re not careful so this makes sense. Feels tight given he’s in his 80s and everything that he’s done for the club but it’s not like he’s having to use a food bank or relying on a state pension.
Maybe this is a two fold plan, save the club some money and a better chance of Keane coming in to shake things up a bit with Ruud when ETH eventually gets the sack.
I hope the ambassador salary that Sir Alex did receive went to charity. How much money does a person need, he will always be treated the same anyway. Talk about unnecessary spending by the club I totally agree with the clubs decision you should too.
The logical decision is , why would I pay sir Alex 2 million dollars a year for doing nothing at all but sitting and watching and the emotional decision is he’s a MAN U legend and he should be paid for doing nothing for the rest of his life

I am 7000 + km away from Manchester United and i supported Manchester United because of SAF game play. The way he creates team and made game enjoyable to watch . If he wasn't there in Manchester United , ya sure Manchester United would be a club,ya it would have a few followers around Manchester. But to make to global stage its hard to imagine. There are more then million fan around asia who pay 60 dollar for membership which would be 60 million dollers per years. If they think they play useless football every week and yet we buy membership they are wrong . They buy Antony for 85 millions and cut money SAF . I don't sign up for corporate office membership. I could rather buy stock for tread. Let's be honest SAF is 82..if we assume 20 years he would be 102 . 2 million per year would be 40 million at maximum. Guy help club with his brilliance football game and gather millions followers and generate almost 60 millions per year for from 2003 ..if would be 600 million...just by fan..there is player sell profit..live game .. broadcasting right...This club is on a path to decrease follwers which is its biggest strength and will slowly srink club and will he limited to Manchester only..
Last of the legends to go, were totally lost, our club deserves everything we get, cant blame him for milking it for what he achieved, its never happening again...
Ineos has come in and done the dirty side of business that has been neglected. But lets also not ignore the drop in revenue has to also be tied to performance on the pitch.
Sir Alex wasn't a problem, he had paid his salary over and over.....I would say an own goal from INEOS! INEOS want to look to be ruthless but they have created an expensive vertical hierarchy, which looks top heavy and to date they have not improved United or the brand...........so what have they gained?
Sounds like they are doing exactly what Ken Bates done when he bought Chelsea in early 1980's - cut the fat, removed the junket of freeloaders. Fergue should have hobe when he resigned back in 2013. Clean break etc
He was the one that let the glazers in with the Irish great manager the best legend but sadly he let them in and Martin edwards putting us on the London stock exchange and David Gill. This map says it all. He's 80 odd years old he should be enjoying his retirement not getting involved in our club matters now.
Same as the Christmas party don't need to do this anymore it's bullshit. We alone have been paying injured players wages for year's Jones Shaw just to name 2 imagine this has been going on for years it's got to stop.
Put it this way, we could've doubled his salary and people wouldn't be complained, maybe people would've been confused, but it shows that we love fergie, but this is ruthless
This same SAF cost man united all this constrain they should have one of the best manager in the world right now but instead he decided to choose the wrong person to replace him at Manchester united
"It was not something that anyone was speaking about" - just about sums this up. Why was no-one speaking about it? When 25% of the club staff was being sacked to save cash, why weren't you asking why multi-millionaire SAF was trousering £2m a year for effectively doing nothing?
We need to move away from SAF’s shadow. Football has changed a lot since SAF retired. We need to move on with times, otherwise risk falling even further behind.
That is fine, Sir Alex lost it 10-15years ago. Dinosaur. Look at this last 30 signings and he Only made 105 signings in 26years.......nobody is bigger than the club. He and you should remember that. The open heart surgery has just started.
Firstly Sir Alex was lucky in two ways. A once in a lifetime event was the class of 92. A group of superstars all came through in the same year. That has never happened since at any club. Secondly he was in charge during an era where no club could compete financially with Man Utd until Abramovich came along for Chelsea. Man Utd would arrogantly take away the superstar from other clubs. eg Rooney, Cantona, Van Persie, Carrick, Rio etc In more recent years everyone has gone in on Man City for doing exactly the same thing. The only difference is that in Fergies era there were no ffp rules and no other clubs that had the wealth to compete at least until Chelsea came along with the russian and started winning the league with big spending. They could outspend even man utd. It is also clear that SAF was a very greedy man and took a liberty claiming stud fees for a horse he was gifted an interest in. And yes this led to the Glazers buying the club. Finally as Sir Alex planned his retirement he was to do two more damaging things to the club. Firstly he left the squad he won his last title with as an ageing group that needed big investment. Then to cap that off recommended one of the worst coaches to take over his job. This guaranteed his legacy of titles would remain intact. Since then he has sucked millions more out of the club in this ambassador role. Nowadays there is no class of 92 and no clear financial advantage over clubs like City Chelsea and Newcastle. Fergie was just fortunate that all the stars aligned for him. I have no issue with putting an end to this man bleeding the finances from the club. He has enough already.
SAF will always be one of the greatest legends of the club, but we need a new chapter. I kind of hate buzzwords like "United DNA" and "soul of the club." Legacy is important, but all that "gibberish" is down to being successful at the end of the day. Maybe run the club healthily and not build a Galacticos or have some foul play that leads to 115 charges.
Great decision. MU needs to move on without clinging onto the past. Would other clubs do this? I think this is fair enough as he is still given the chance to watch games. Cutting costs is normal for every company. It means business.
DONT FORGET, FOR THE NEXT GAME FELLOW SUPPORTERS AND FANS, MORE LIKELY BUT HAVE'NT SEEN ANY COMFORMATION YET... IT'S CLOSE TO THE 21ST, SIR BOBBY'S PASSING, IT'S THE ONLY HOME FIXTURE CLOSEST TO HIS 1ST ANNVERSERY, THE GAME WILL BE A REMEMBRANCE ONE, THESE GUYS BETTER PUT IN A PERFORMANCE IN HONOR.

I've seen many folk saying it's disrespecting Fergie blah blah & yet it was all amicably agreed between all parties that it should be done. To many it's controversial I completely get that but remember SAF agreed to it aswell so it's not as if INEOS went behind SAF's back is it???
True.
Listen, I don't want Fergie on the board or as an ambassador either, Fergie should really just be retired but I would rather have Fergie in that role till the day he dies than have this guy in the managerial job for another millisecond.
They sold United's soul SAF....❤
Sacking fergie before Ten Hag is a crime against humanity😔
"Let's get rid of the one person who knows anything about football in the club", seems like a good idea to me. As I'm looking at this, I'm remembering when Benfica sacked Eusébio from their ranks in the late 90s. Actions from desperate people who know nothing about what they're doing. Time will take care of showing this in two ways: either Man Utd bounces back in 10 years (yes lads, it's gonna be that long) under someone else's leadership, or when we're watching Man Utd in the Championship...
A billionaire sacking a multimillionaire?!?!? How will SAF keep the heat on this winter?? This is an absurd story. Time to move on from the past.
Here We Go, making a mountain out of a molehill. More division fueled by our flip flop section of fans.
How dare they do that to Fergie!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡
Some bull hey Fergie built this club almost single handed
I wonder if the people cheering the 'ruthlessness' of Ineos will be in a similar frame of mind when they increase ticket prices for supporters? Sadly, I suspect it's an inevitability.
He will always be the ultimate ambassador for Manchester United
It's business, not personal.
Get all the hangers on off the gravy train.
Time for serious business fools
I think it's disrespect not ruthless
2 million a year for life for doing nothing - no wonder he never spoke out against the Glazers and always praised them - he's no angel; but was a good manager for which he was very well paid and allowed him to become a multi millionaire.
He honestly is part of the reason the Glazers are at the club in the first place. Just because of a damn racehorse.
His reason was the number of staff at United dependent on him for their livelihoods.
get real he is 82 years old
They should not have done this. Leave sir Alex Ferguson's money alone he's earnt every penny.
He's worth over £50m already dude..
You don't see other clubs holding onto old managers out of sentimentality, like Arsenal pretty much kicked Wegner out the door when they were done with him..
@@JoeBob79569 he could be worth 500 million and it wouldn't change anything. Also we're not other clubs, we're man utd. How arsenal and arsenal fans hounded out Wenger was a disgrace so it's no model we should be aspiring towards.
@ryanmwestate that's your problem mate, we were man utd, not anymore, time to grow up kid
@@Align500pro idk which club you support. I support Manchester United, we were we are and always will be Man utd. Take yourself over to Arsenal or City if you can't understand what it means to be united. "Kid"
Well said and made hundreds of millions for Man United, because his winning trophies and made Man United regain popularity in the 3 rd world countries, that is enough, all those who don't see that are not the real fans, I can talk football in my state and all I do is bring his name, and even rivals nod in agreement and respect.
I've been saying for ages, we will never move forward as a club while Fergie still has influence. That's not a dig at Fergie, he's the best thing to ever happen to the club, but football has changed since the days of Fergie
sam your wrong here SAF is still a non-executive director so hes still getting a wage for being a board member
The players just ain't good enough mate, simple as that
They're not ruthless they're tight - there's a difference.
Let that old guy rest
This is so cool! I could watch this all day!
Sir Jim is doing what needed to be done, he is one ruffless SOB and at his age I doubt that Sir Alex will be losing any sleep over the decision.
Its and statement that will also help breaking with the past. A new future is nearing without the (financial) burden of the past
ETH,flop players this season? we were all told that the new recruitment team bought in the players,in fact every man and his dog said transfers were now out of ETH remit,so Numbskull do enlighten on what the new in place structure actually does?
@@jameshall6061 stop abusing me here because u didn’t like my views, atleast don’t insult other community members if u don’t know how to respect others.
Looking at your comment, u are one of those deluded so called fans who blindly listens to these UA-camrs without looking the situation rationally.
Coming to the point De light, zirkzee are ten hags call, these players were overhyped because ten hag knows only to sign Dutch players or the players played in Dutch league barring few other signings, almost all of his signings are flop and eth can’t even motivate his own team after getting to spend 650 million euros and with 2 full seasons.
It’s crazy people like you think eth is right man to lead this club, so deluded. Anyways it’s ur views so I don’t have any problem like you have on my comment
Can you imagine the scenes if it was Glazers doing this?
Granted had Glazers done this they would 100% only do it to fill their own pockets while the INEOS are trying to cut spending to sort out our horrible financial position.
I know about Sir Alex from a CBS Showtime show and became a M-U supporter. He is the cheapest $2M we can spend on our legacy club status.
I feel shock when i saw the news. I think 2Mil is not a lot when you are paying footballers like 200-250k a week( ie only 2 mths of expenses compared with footballer) but i think it’s more abt respect than money.
The glazers need to be let go not sir Alex.
We could be in a lot of trouble with FFP (especially if the Premier League come down hard on City) if we’re not careful so this makes sense. Feels tight given he’s in his 80s and everything that he’s done for the club but it’s not like he’s having to use a food bank or relying on a state pension.
The most useful decision so far,Kudos to ineos
Get your facts right, he is not being pushed out by anybody, it is his decision to step aside, end of.
This club has lost its soul. I'm a foreign supporter of United since Cantona days. I can't support them as I had in the past.
Bye
@@richyclubsport5155 Ruthless 😅
SAF is United's soul....
The logical decision is , why would I pay sir Alex 2 million dollars a year for doing nothing at all but sitting and watching and the emotional decision is he’s a MAN U legend and he should be paid for doing nothing for the rest of his life
😅 Ineos and the boardroom staff went to executive meeting last week and every media was tagging the meeting to be Eth sacking.. not knowing it's about Alex Ferguson 😅 being trimmed down and also other staff's 😅. EtH in all Day
SJR is Ruthless but Eth even more ruthless with his magical tactical
Ferguson has had his time. I think it’s right that people aren’t on a ridiculous payroll for life. So many people suffering and fergie isn’t one of em.
Look, Fergie is a legend and always be, but cmon we need to move on from the past! He was there for the past 11 years for advice and we know it’s not working.. we gotta move on from the past to focus on the present and future. LONG LIVE FERGIE! Ggmu❤
I agree with INEOS here. But its questions how many other ridiculous contracts have we got going on behind the scene
Well done INEOS we need to continue making these cost cutting measures, £2 mill per year in the last decade are we just going to carry on paying. We will see the benefits of these measures in a few years leading to a healthy financial position.
as a YT creator... why dont u say the truth??????..... the only thing u have to say is we losing $$$$$ only BECOZ WE LOSING GAMES!!!!!!!!!
Paying the price for poor management over last 10 years. Same happened to Leeds many years ago, success on the field can hide these costs
Good move from Ineos. They need to make these cuts to pay for a bigger and better club in the future.
TBF; does Sir Alex know what day it is? He’s unwell & old, let him watch the games & relax
We all love Fergie, but come on INEOS are making the right changes to move the club forward, GGMU
He was the one that let the glazers in with the Irish great manager the best legend
but sadly he let them in and Martin edwards putting us on the London stock exchange and David Gill.
Great video Sam.
Put it this way, we could've doubled his salary and people wouldn't be complained, maybe people would've been confused, but it shows that we love fergie, but this is ruthless
Now they need to do this with the current squad. Some of those players in the first team need to go.
This same SAF cost man united all this constrain they should have one of the best manager in the world right now but instead he decided to choose the wrong person to replace him at Manchester united
I have a feeling something was said that probably should’ve been said. I think this is either a power play or ETH is having everyone out the way.
"It was not something that anyone was speaking about" - just about sums this up. Why was no-one speaking about it? When 25% of the club staff was being sacked to save cash, why weren't you asking why multi-millionaire SAF was trousering £2m a year for effectively doing nothing?
I doubt many people even knew that we were paying SAF a fortune for the title of global ambassador
Man Utd would arrogantly take away the superstar from other clubs. eg Rooney, Cantona, Van Persie, Carrick, Rio etc
In more recent years everyone has gone in on Man City for doing exactly the same thing.
Ratcliffe a real business man knows how effeciency eqauls productivity of real ptofits.
Remember Jim has said he doesn't want to take any profit out of United meaning a way more sustainable future gor UNITED.
Glazers just took divedends and never gave a on the running of the club.
Ineos couldn't suck Ten Hag , but had the audacity to end Feggies' contract.
