A texture is (most of the time) an image that gives a model colour. A render is a computer calculating a bunch of stuff to accurately display light and whatnot. [edit] After watching the rest of the video, a lot of the realism comes from the displacements and hand painted shadows on the texture.
This character has ascended beyond the Animal Crossing art style and has a new anatomy and everything. From the front it manages to look just like what's portrayed in the animations while still maintaining some design from all angles that looks natural for the character all while abandoning the Animal Crossing model rules. I mean for starters... she has a nose now. And most of the AC characters have flat rounded faces. lol (Although the nose is a little odd since she's a cat and doesn't need a human nose) It's even interesting that, as subtle as it is, she was given an ass to represent her being sexy (given the context of the animations). It's gone from Animal Crossing character to lewd wtf animations that are kinda entertaining to meme to detailed art. That's crazy... lol

I've always wanted to learn how to use Blender/ZBrush, however the actual forming of the body and figure seemed so daunting. Watching this timelapse helped give me confidence in learning in a few ways: 1. You create a different "piece" for each part of the body. Hips is one piece, left arm is another. This makes the once daunting act of posing a figure much less so, since you can select where the figure bends and is molded. 2. You can apply textures on surfaces by merely "drawing" a line, and it'll lay the texture based on the perspective you're viewing. This is shown when you create the long rags of her underwear. Then you refine it further to make it precise. 3. You can define a centerline, and somehow alter things symmetrically. This makes face-creation easier in my mind. 4. Even after you've created a shape, you can select and warp/alter parts of it if it's too big or small. Example, you look up her dress and you tighten only the waist section of the dress. Adds more control. I'm definitely going to look in to using Zbrush and Blender. I already have the artistic aspect of it on point, I just need to learn how to translate it to modeling. THANK YOU!
Pursue your dreams and endeavors! This may seem daunting but once you know the fundamentals it becomes as natural as drawing a shape on paper. Set short term goals and work your way up to mastery. Each little victory is important. Pat yourself on the back for being rigorous and chasing new skillsets. Good luck
@@antonhawkins2013 oh I found before you start posing from a symmetry pose, u turn on Zbrush's layer feature as a target, which will remember its original T pose position. And will allow u to sciulpt on bended arms or legs and will mirror any sculpts from the asymmetry posed side. It's a bit jank imo
