Ivy! I didn’t realize you went to Japan! I didn’t see your One Wheel for a while and wondered where you had gone. Suzuki Sensei would be so proud! -Reese
Haha yeah I’m studying here for the whole year! I emailed Suzuki Sensei with some study abroad pics and she was really happy. I hope you’ve been doing well lately, thanks for always watching & supporting my videos :)💖 can’t wait to come back and run into you every time I’m vlogging since that always happens hehe
We go to the same school (Im native ) i live in Kawagoe you use to come typically over here but they just open that area. Im typically see a lot of foreign students. Im typically in 東京国際大学 川越第2キャンパス or 東京国際大学 川越第1キャンパス. ( hope your having a good time)
Hiiii I‘m considering going to TIU for a year abroad. I‘m just pretty concerned about the workload since Japanese universities are known to be quite tough. How was your experience? Did you have to spend a lot of time studying? Thxxx
HI! That's something I wondered too before coming. At TIU, I found the classes to be really easy. My Japanese class was hard at first but it was fine once I got used to the pace. My friends also said that most classes are not too challenging, some even complained that they were too easy. I mainly wanted to study abroad for the experience of being in Japan and exploring so I'm glad the classes are chill. I think other universities may be rigorous but TIU doesn't have a rigorous reputation or anything so I don't think you'll have to worry about classes being too crazy. Hope that helps! :)
I am entering my first year at this university, but I see that this university has two buildings. Is it possible to study at the Ikebukuro campus from the first year?
So the Ikebukuro campus is for courses in English (e-track) & Saitama campus is for classes taught in Japanese (j-track), so it just totally depends on your classes!
Yeah I know some students that live in the dorms although I’m not sure how much they cost. As for apartments, it depends on where you live. Places closer to Tokyo & the city are usually more expensive. Some students live in cheaper apartments that are a little further and take the train to school.
I have a remote part-time job editing videos for companies in America so I don’t have any experience working in Japan. I’m not sure but I do have some friends who work at a convenience store here and I don’t think it’s too hard to get a job as a cashier, although they do know intermediate Japanese. For most jobs, you will probably need to know at least some Japanese unless you’re working for a company that only serves English-speaking customers.
I just got accepted on a full ride to Agnes Scott, I just wanted to ask what the process for getting into a study abroad program was? I’m new to all of this, and it’s so confusing to rely just on the information on websites and pamphlets 😵💫
That’s a great question! Studying abroad was definitely a big goal for me when I entered college, and it’s great that you’re already planning ahead. Agnes Scott has a center for global learning office that you can go to (it should be on the 1st floor of Buttrick Hall) and every student is assigned a study abroad advisor that can help you with the whole process. We do our study abroad applications through ISEP, so you can start browsing on the website now for options if you want. Most students study abroad during junior year, but I went to my study abroad advisor during freshman year because I wanted to plan out my courses and application early. If you look on ISEP, different colleges have different acceptance rates, so some are harder or easier to get into. However, the advisor recommends for you to select multiple schools so you still have a back up plan even if your first choice doesn’t take you. Most students also do an exchange program, which basically means that your tuition and boarding fees are the same that you normally pay to Agnes Scott, so the cost is the same when you go abroad except for the plane ticket and other miscellaneous expenses. Overall, I’m super happy with the study aboard process because it’s not that complicated and the advisor really walks you through it. I hope that helps! And congrats on getting a full ride!! Do you know which country you want to go to?
hiii, i actually got accepted into TIU a few weeks ago! i applied to the digital business & innovation major. Your classes seem fun, which major did you choose? Also, how is the Saitama campus? TYIA!!
Hey! Congrats on being accepted!🥳 My major is business management - I’m a study abroad student so idk if TIU has that specific major. I’ve been on the Saitama campus a few times and it’s nice too. It’s definitely older and less fancy than the Ikebukuro campus, but it’s still very pretty in my opinion. In general, Ikebukuro is for E-track students (classes are in English) & Saitama is for J-track (classes are in Japanese). So the campus you go to just depends on which track you study. Feel free to ask any other questions :)
@@ivychenofficial tysm for your reply! I’m doing E-track but on the website they said 1 semester will be in Saitama and the 2 in Ikebukuro. I visited it this november and it looked stunning. Thanks for the information again!🫶
Ooo that’s awesome that you visited! Also the website info might be outdated. The Ikebukuro campus is new so E-track switched from the Saitama campus recently. Maybe the website info is old from when E-track had to switch but I’m not completely sure so take what I say with a grain of salt haha. Either way I’m sure you’ll enjoy it🫶🏼
@@ivychenofficial In your video you haven't showed any work related things? Don't you have a part-time job or your family funds you for your living costs and tuition fees?
@@SalihinKHR That's a good question. So for me, I have a scholarship at my home university & don't pay any tuition. Since I am an exchange student, I still don't pay tuition at TIU and only have to pay my home university for housing fees which makes studying abroad way cheaper. I also applied for a study abroad scholarship beforehand and they awarded me some money. Additionally, I work as a video editor part time as my job and get paid for that. I don't edit everyday and usually focus on filming if I am making a vlog, which is why I didn't mention it in the video. I hope that answers your question!
I’ll try to film another vlog when school starts up! These are the 3 classes I took from last semester and a little about them: 1. Intermediate Japanese: amazing teachers, although a bit fast paced-included doing in-class readings in Japanese, speaking practices with classmates, & a final presentation 2. Social Media & Business: professor was very eloquent and clear in his teaching, lots of student participation & in-class discussions, easy to get a good grade as long as you paid attention in my opinion, very little homework 3. Leadership, Creativity, & Organizational Behavior: interesting content but mostly lectures which isn’t my favorite style of learning, a lot of homework that included extremely long articles/video analyses, but the professor was a nice old man who I found funny & he cracked jokes often I hope that helps & thank you for watching :)
