If you were watching last year's garden season you might know that I never got another video posted! I finally organized all the footage and tallies from last year and put together this PART 2 - 2023 HOW MUCH FOOD CAN I GROW?? video! I hope that it gets you excited for the next growing season in 2024! I'm already starting to put together 2024 garden videos but this had to get sorted out first! I'm pretty sure we can beat 2023 harvest numbers in 2024! What do you think? Will it be another crazy hot weather year? How much are you planting this year? Are you optimistic about the 2024 growing season? Let me know! :D
That's a lot of food for a neglected, minimal effort, bad weather growing season in the garden! Just image being a pioneer and having to live solely off what you grew, raised, huntered, and gathered. They happily preserved everything they could, in case they had a bad growing season. You should be very pleased with your harvest!!!
Thanks Rhonda! I was surprised at how well it did considering everything :D I'm looking forward to a much better season this year! It can only do better with more love and attention I hope
Thank you for sharing this with us!!! I live vicariously through your garden videos. I'm in an an apartment and my balcony faces east, so even container gardening well, not gonna happen. Who am I kidding, even if I had a south facing balcony that got a ton of sun it wouldn't happen. We have a few great farmer's markets in the city where I live or... the grocery store. I'm happy with either.
I’m so glad that you enjoy the garden videos too! It was a bit of a rough year but it could have been worse 🤷♀️ It does require some attention and focus and I was probably pretty accurate at the beginning of the year when I felt like taking the year off! 😜
It’s ALWAYS more zucchini than you maybe wanted. You look at one in the afternoon and think it’s a little small to pick. By the next morning it has doubled in size.
I’m so glad you found the videos Helen! 😃 The weather has been on and off so much lately! I think it’s going to be sunny and then it ends up windy and rainy! We had hail yesterday! We’ve just been doing some work amending the raised beds and preparing…
All things considered your garden did all right.envious of your zucchini as I can’t grow them. I get 1 maybe then the plant gets mildew then it shrivels up and dies.bit was a hard garden season for Ontario last year as we didn’t have a lot of sun also due to fires. Hopefully 2024 will be better!
I'm beginning to think that zucchini does better if it's neglected lol I usually spray with a mixture of dish soap and water for the powdery mildew but you have to start early and keep up with it and we just weren't able to do it last year. I'm hoping for a better season this year but it's looking like it might be pretty hot again so far...
I can’t grow a garden where I live, but my cousin bought my childhood home off my dad and her, her DIL, and myself, are hopefully going to do some gardening in their yard. Really hoping we at least do tomato and zucchini, and slowly build up a larger garden the next couple years. Just a lot of house projects needing done and things have gone off the rails in other ways so not sure if we’re going to be able to do anything this year sadly.
What a great opportunity! It’s great to start small and build it up over time! The garden was almost more work because we didn’t have the time to keep up with it last year. It’s good to know when you aren’t going to have time to take it on. 👍🏼🧡
I want to thank you for introducing me to ground cherries. They've become one of my favorite fruits. Can you share you secret to keeping carrots crumchy all year?
That’s awesome! I love them too and not just because they grow so well here! With the carrots I just make sure to clean them quickly out of the garden in cold water and then they just store in a fridge 🤷♀️ I’m always amazed at how long carrots keep for! When I get sad ones from the store I think they must be sooo old!
No squash on purpose last year and I’m sooo glad! I think I still have some cubed squash in the freezer from the year before to use lol I’ll be planting some this year though!
U got potatoes, carrots, garlic, and tomatoes, so that is my main products. I'm curious what did u do with those zuccuchi? What I would give for one of those fresh tomatoes. Nothing is better than a pulled off the vine, wipe it on ur shirt, and bite into a really ripe tomato.
We did eat the good zucchinis in salads and definitely shared some with family and neighbours! The carrots were the most impressive, I think. We are still eating them now and they are still crisp and tasty!
This year, my garden is a tad bigger. I finally figured out how to deer proof it..and for it to work. Let’s hope groundhog hogs won’t get in this year and eat all my peas again! I’m hopeful for a good harvest. Good luck to you!❤️🧡💚💙🩷🦋🦋🦋
Good luck to us all! I'm so glad I don't have ground critters causing me problems so far! I'm hoping to have more time to focus on the garden this year :D
@@JessicaWanders me too. Last year wasn’t my best. And, I found ground cherry seeds! Trying that this year! Adding pumpkin to the grow list too. I’m hopeful.

True!
Amazing! Good work Jessica! I am looking forward to your harvest this year now. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I'm looking forward to this year too :D Hopefully the weather isn't too bad and the fires stay low!

I had to hunt for your videos. I have started my garden
It's been so chilly. Now it's rainy. One of these days it will be time

No squashes this year?!?! The watermelons were so great!

Is it weird that I want to grow a few pot tomatoes just so I can make fried green tomatoes?
Yummy! Great idea because green tomatoes are hard to get in the stores!
