When Gaz said he never imagined at this young age he would this happy in his greenhouse, very wholesome
"I hope that feeling never leaves me" - It won't Gaz- it never gets old! Been gardening for 40 years now! Each season is different. Enjoy!
So true!
I just got my 1st allotment last August 22. I'm in a cloud 9.
Yes! totally agree
My partner is not a plant person quite yet and I'm ending year 2 of gardening, and he is forever impressed with me for growing pounds of produce on our balcony from seed in a lot of the plants❤
That feeling can never go away. It's in your blood if you feel this compassionate about it your first go at it. And you'll never stop learning something new every year.
This was so wholesome. I feel so relaxed after watching this.
When Ben greeted the chicken" hello darling" it melted my heart. What a beautiful thing to say ❤
They were such lovely chickens - very curious animals. It's great that Gaz has given them a new lease of life. :-)
@@GrowVeg 🥰🥰🥰
I absolutely LOVE seeing content creators that I follow on each other's channels! 🧡
what a lucky guy to have the happiest gardener on the internet visit his garden.
Well I'd say Gaz is probably the happiest chef - so I was equally blessed! :-)
I really like your energy Ben. I bet you're really good in drawing out introverts and making them feel comfortable.
Thanks so much, very kind of you to say. It was such a joy filming with Gaz - a really nice bloke!
You guys gave us the collab we didnt know we needed. 2 fine men who are great in their gifts.
This has made my day! Two of my favorites together. The smiles, camaraderie, and shared joy of gardening warms my heart and gives me the impetus to continue with my garden. Loved especially the discussion about rescuing chickens, learning about the cola plant, nondairy ice cream (basil no less!), and tales of garden hopes for the future. Delightful and inspiring. Thank you both.
You put exactly what I’ve felt into words. What a great video!
Same here, this is great stuff!
Thanks so much for your kind comments, it's really appreciated. It was a real joy to film.
agreed. 💚💚
It sounds like you're describing a very engaging and heartwarming experience. The combination of gardening, shared joy, and interesting discussions about topics like rescuing chickens, learning about unique plants like the cola plant, and experimenting with nondairy ice cream flavors (basil-flavored ice cream sounds intriguing!) seems to have provided a lot of inspiration and enjoyment. It's wonderful how such experiences can boost one's enthusiasm for gardening and bring a sense of community and learning.
My heart smiled when you said I hope the feeling never leaves me. The wonder and awe of seeds growing, of witnessing nature’s abilities has never left me ! Congratulations on reconnecting with nature!!! What sn amazing garden!
It certainly is. 😀
I have been gardening since I could walk following my grandmother around the home garden. The feeling of amazement is food for the soul. Thank you!
"I went a bit crazy looking at seeds at the beginning of the year". Welcome to gardening mate. haha
So true! :-)
Ben this was such a pleasure to watch! Gaz is a remarkable gent and I enjoy watching his videos as well! I was especially touched at Gaz' rescue chickens-- A complete WIN-WIN!!!
He's a true gent, definitely. :-)
Love Gaz. Thank you for having him on
Gaz! Oh my goodness! The sparkle in your eyes from the magic of gardening will never fade! Seeds are amazing and remind us of the possibilities in our lives. My mantra is, “I plant the seed, God does the rest!” Continued blessings to both you and Ben.
That's very kind of you. And blessing to you too. :-)
What a charming and enthusiastic person. He's very special
Ahhh two of my fave YTers collab! Exactly the sort of gardening content I need to offset the work stress this week.
Loving that my favourite gardeners are getting together to discuss gardening and cooking, fabulous, thanks guys 🙂
So wholesome, so calm, so beautiful! Can't wait for summer to grow my basil and then make icecream as well! Purple basil would make the best color!
I reckon purple basil would be awesome in an ice cream! :-)
That was an absolute delight. Thanks chaps. x
Fantastic video came away with garden envy, lol 😊👍🏴
Been following Gaz for a while but I've never come across your channel, Ben. I love your energy; subbed and looking forward to exploring your work.
Thanks so much. :-)
Those zuccini flowers look wonderful. I once grew zuccini /courgette but didn't have success for some reason with the fruits, so decided to focus on the flowers. I harvested them here and there, stuffed them with a rice based filling and pan fried them. They were a real treat. Vegie Gardens are hard work but absolutely worth it, no matter how big or small. Thank you for sharing this garden.
They really are so worth it. Gaz is growing some incredible stuff!
Ben's stepping up his game 💪
It's nice to get out and about and have a nosey around other people's gardens for sure!
And I love the way you show the Garden Planner for each area. Nice touch and really helpful! 👌
Thanks so much, I'm really pleased with the way that was done.
Wow never expected a colab between two of my loved content creators. thanks guys!
Ben, just want to let you know that you inspired me to do gardening. I remember watching one of your videos and it was the beginning of more research and finally being brave enough to start. From a very low maintenance lawn now my back garden has turned into a very productive space. Been growing loads of brassicas, beans, squashes, flowers, etc since february this year. My mental health has been a lot better (I lost both of my parents within two months last year and was in a dark place as my late mother has been a rock in my life), overall gardening has changed my life. Thank you.
This is so joyous to read - I'm so pleased you have discovered gardening. And I agree, it really is so good for our mental health and general wellbeing. :-)
WOW!!! How fun to see Chef Gaz on Gardener Ben's Channel!
This was so wholesome and beautiful
The collab I didn’t know I needed!
Haha, fab stuff! :-)
What a beautiful interview! Love Gaz and have followed him for years!
The purple sprouting broccoli needed Huw Richards' face to pop up for a second. 😆
This garden is lovely. Aubergine and Courgette are so much nicer sounding words than eggplant and zucchini.
Haha, indeed! :-)
This is the loveliest, most heartwarming and inspiring video you've made yet!
Two of my favourite channels come together 💚... 9 years vegan, and i started my allotment this year 😊. 🌱
Just wondering as to why Gaz has chickens if he is a vegan? I'm a vegan too and hope they are just rescues.
Great job starting an allotment. Hope you're enjoying it! :-)
Yes, the chickens are rescues. He's saved them from the slaughterhouse and just gives the eggs away.
@darrenbailey27 some vegans rescue chickens and feed the eggs back to the chickens, with the shell, to make up for loss of calcium because of intense egg laying. 🤍
@GrowVeg I love it, only wish I had more time. I work in the care system, and am planning on cutting my hours back 🙂
Yet another great colab. You both have a strong shirt game!
Haha - yes indeed!
That feeling won't ever leave you Gaz; at least not in my experience. Delightful!
Wow, Ben! What a treat! And he is just starting! Truly sublime!
He's done jolly good hasn't he!
What a beautiful place. What a lovely man.
Great to see all the enthusiasm of a new gardener and the excitement of growing.
That feeling never leaves you my friend :0)
:-)
This made my day seeing the two of you together. I’ve followed you both for years.
That’s really lovely to hear! Thanks for watching.
How lovely. What a collaboration 😊🥦🫛🫘🫑🌶
Love the work done with the chickens. I've always been rewarded with a lot of eggs from rescue chickens...happy chickens produce.
Omg!!! What a collab! So unexpected and exciting
The chemistry is contagious. So lovely to see you together❤
Beautiful garden with many plants i like his garden so much hope have garden in the future .
I love the wonder in his heart. It’s obvious he receives so much satisfaction from his garden! ❤️
Absolutely - he's quite an inspiring chap!
Loving this cross-over arc between all of the UK gardeners I watch!
Beautiful garden for a first time gardener. New gardeners always give me hope!!! 😍
It’s a stunner of a garden, definitely.
Nice hen house !!
I'll need to put one of these in my garden too !!
Fresh eggs !!!
It's always nice to see two of my favourite garden UA-camrs get together for a gardening love in. Thanks to both of you for all the inspiration.
Thanks so much for watching Jessica. :-)
Good on ya Ben, Gaz is a lovely chap. Getting hyped with our spring planting downunder and I couldn't agree more with Gaz on the rescue chickens, we got our girls at 18 months old last autumn and they're unrecognisable from the featherless things we found them as. They're laying prolifically and providing plenty of rich manure.
Keep it up guys, love your work!
Thanks so much Joel. Hope you have a cracking start to the growing season. Happy gardening! :-)
Hi, I live in Adelaide, how did you organise your 18 month olds?
What a lovely pair of gardeners 🧡
Thank you! 😀
Absolutely delightful! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and I am very grateful for tips given. Thank you both.
Thanks for watching! :-)
I absolutely loved this video! Two friends sharing their passion for gardening and no Gaz, you will not lose the joy and excitement when you slice open something you grew from seed 💌 I hope you'll have more guests, share tips and make us smile, thanks!
Thanks for the lovely feedback. We hope to bring more garden reviews your way.
I would love to have the dairy free basil ice cream recipe, please. You did amazing as a beginner gardener. It's in you.
That's very kind of you to say - Gaz seems to be a natural at gardening. Here's a link to his basil ice cream: www.gazoakleychef.com/recipes/basil-ice-cream/
Its funny when these stars get together and geek out on each other. It really breaks the illusion that they aren't just people.
Great work Ben! I hadn’t heard of Gaz before but am impressed by his genuine love of gardening and fresh produce. If you ever come to Australia you can interview me - I successfully grew a tomato and half a carrot 🥕 😂 Love your work and the inspiration you provide 😬 🇦🇺 🐨 🦘
Haha - cheers mate! So pleased you enjoyed the video. Hope you have a great growing season ahead of you. :-)
Just the odd sprout in my London apartment 🥰
So happy to see you back!
Our nice feral cat, Noiraud, chooses a yarrow bed of flowers, as his personal toilet!
Animals know best!
[ he s very healthy!]
[ And a gardener, like me!]
Sounds like a very civilised feral cat!
Gaz bringing out his Achillia fact, he never misses the opportunity! Love the video, what a crossover, 2 amazing channels.
Thanks so much. Gaz is quite the dude!
@@GrowVeg Your welcome, love your content, please never stop!
Great tour!!! Thanks for taking us along
Great to see you with Gaz. He’s just so lovely and has great recipes even for non vegans to enjoy. Fantastic collab.
He's such a nice fellow!
What a treat , watching you both wandering round the garden in such a beautiful setting, Gaz’s crops look amazing especially that beautiful beetroot. Thank you so much for sharing .
It was such a treat to be shown round his garden I have to say. Such bounty and variety in there.
What an amazing video!! Bursting with serotonin, inspiration and gratitude. I was feeling as if I was in some kind of slump and this has picked me right back up. Gaz needs to do a tour of your garden now and show us a feast with your produce! Thank you guys!
That sounds like a great idea! :-)
What great pair of nice people talking about the hobby they love. Enjoyable to watch. 👍
This collab made my day!!
This was such a fun video! It was cool seeing the garden in reverse. Usually we plant our crops, then decide how to use them. Here a chef, who knew how you use ingredients, designed a garden. And that basil ice cream....must go find a recipe!!
Go to his website - Gaz Oakley chef - the recipe is on there.
The basil ice cream was ridiculously good - do make it!
Loved watching you both interact!!!!! Great gardening ❣️
Don’t believe everything you’ve been told about chickens. I have 3 hens that are nine (9) years old and they lay eggs daily, year round!!!! I have hens from 3 months old to these older ladies… all except the 3 month olds all lay year round. No heat lamps. They free range daily,I supplement with layer crumbles and a bit of scratch grains. I fasten them up at night to protect from predators.
Those are very old ladies - great job!
When he said feeling the joy he does at that age walking into the tunnel it made me laugh 😂 im 28, which isnt that young, not that mature but I feel the same when im smiling non stop at all my plants. 2nd season starting now and im looking forward to it
That's really great to hear. Plants can bring so much joy - and they don't talk back!
Love to see the collaboration with another great youtuber!
Lovely garden. And Gaz is just so adorable 🥰
Oh this is so exciting! What a great collaboration! 🎉❤
Cheers Antonia! :-)
Fab collaboration, I've been following Gaz for a few years on YT so it is great to see you together 😊
A great job and beautiful garden! I love your zeal! God's creation is so amazing and I love watching it come to life, learning new things each year.
It never fails to bring joy for sure.
Great Video. You should go back next year for an update. And find more new gardeners like Gaz, especially in Wales. Da iawn !
Definitely! Hope to be back soon. More garden reviews will be shared over the next few months, so stay tuned!
Love your Welsh connections…Huw and Gaz…what about Byther Farm as well?😀😀😀
Haha - that had actually crossed my mind! :-)
Ben, how lovely to see you with Gaz, What a fun video guys. How Inspiring for us all. Thank you.🌻🌱🤩
Thanks so much. It was great fun to make. :-)
Enjoyed the enthusiasm and sense of wonder in this young man! Watching this when we are expecting a blizzard in the next 24 hrs so, #1: love seeing the GREEN of my ancestors’ land and #2 this gets me more excited for March and beyond when my 2024 season begins! 🙏🏼 thanks!
So pleased you enjoyed this video. Gaz's garden is pretty inspirational!
"The Green, green grass of home"❤ This is why I don't complain about all the rain we get... though this winter it just hasn't stopped !! It's "Mud, glorious mud "😅😅. Seeing the Welsh countryside all dry with yellowing grass ,when we had a drought a few summers ago , was awful.Best Wishes to you.Hope that blizzard didn't cause too many problems for you.
I am GREEN with envy.
Another inspiring video.
Great video! Can you share Basil ice cream vegan recipe? 👀
I don't have the recipe, but it may be worth checking out Gaz's Instagram page, as he may have posted the recipe there: instagram.com/gazoakley/?hl=en
Everything looks spectacular.
Thank you for another wonderful video!
Seeing someone being proud of the produce they grew is so cool. I put my garden in this spring. This is my first season ever with permanent raised beds. So much food from it already. I can totally understand the joy and pleasure of gardening.
So pleased you're getting so much food already - that's awesome! :-)
I just love Gaz
I use Garlic and washing soap spray it keeps the bugs away
Loved this content! Thanks to you both. Gaz's excitement is Infectious ❤
So pleased you enjoyed the video. Gaz is such a nice chap!
'I went a bit crazy when I was looking for seeds...' Yes, you are a gardener.
I love to see a garden from a chef's perspective and if the recipe for the dairy-free basil ice cream is something that could be shared, that would be wonderful.
Of course, here it is: www.gazoakleychef.com/recipes/basil-ice-cream/
You're the best, thanks!@@GrowVeg
Good to see Gaz is doing well. I wonder what he does with those eggs. Hopefully feeds them back to the chickens to help replenish their nutrients.
He's vegan so he just gives them away to neighbours etc.
@@GrowVeg Feeding them back to the chickens is better for the chickens. Glad he’s sticking with the tofu.
@@AtheistEve I am a vegan, I believe giving eggs to the neighbors is a good way to stop neighbors and friends from eating eggs from battery farms not to mention helping people out.
What a lovely garden and young man! Thank you for taking us along on your visit!
Fabulous, well done Gaz.
Good morning Ben, what a lovely video, thank you for sharing Gaz with us, he has done an amazing work for a beginner gardener! The plants are all looking great and I am sure a flavour all of their own. The ice cream looked so nice, I bet full of flavour. What a chef! Thank you Ben, I have to agree you have been a great inspiration to me, you have done yourself proud. All those tomatoes ripened inside a paper bag on a window sill, and I can honestly say, they were delicious. Unfortunately some were bruised a bit from lying on the soil but from all the bushes, I think there were only two, I lost say about 4. That was great as far as I am concerned for a cold winter survival. Our days are still a bit challenging, too cold for germination but we will soon reach that stage when we can all start a brand new season. I think I am going to give broad beans a go this season and I will snip the tops at maturity and and give them a stir fry like Gaz suggested. Thank you for the most enjoyable video as always. Many blessings, kind regards. Oh, I was most surprised that Gaz was growing his own Quinoa!! Now that's a challenge.
Thanks so much for the lovely comment. I think visiting other people's gardens always inspires and puts a pep in your step.
Great video Tim and Gaz, lovely to watch and learn how you have both inspired each other. 👍
Great garden and wonderful chat! Thanks!
this is the most wholesome video !!! i love it
What a WONDERFUL video!!!
Loved this video! Hope you two team up again.
That's the plan at some point. He's a jolly nice chap to work with!
Thank you, very enjoyable 😇👏👏
Lovely video 😊.Thank you both
