My partner is not a plant person quite yet and I'm ending year 2 of gardening, and he is forever impressed with me for growing pounds of produce on our balcony from seed in a lot of the plants❤
That feeling can never go away. It's in your blood if you feel this compassionate about it your first go at it. And you'll never stop learning something new every year.
For anyone feeling discouraged about your garden compared to Gaz's. He's had a lot of help. He didn't go from being a chef to a master gardner in a few seasons. He had help to create what you see. He didn't do it by himself. He didn't know about what certain plants needed, soil preferences, etc. He had extensive help. You'll get there. Keep learning and growing.
My heart smiled when you said I hope the feeling never leaves me. The wonder and awe of seeds growing, of witnessing nature’s abilities has never left me ! Congratulations on reconnecting with nature!!! What sn amazing garden!
This has made my day! Two of my favorites together. The smiles, camaraderie, and shared joy of gardening warms my heart and gives me the impetus to continue with my garden. Loved especially the discussion about rescuing chickens, learning about the cola plant, nondairy ice cream (basil no less!), and tales of garden hopes for the future. Delightful and inspiring. Thank you both.
It sounds like you're describing a very engaging and heartwarming experience. The combination of gardening, shared joy, and interesting discussions about topics like rescuing chickens, learning about unique plants like the cola plant, and experimenting with nondairy ice cream flavors (basil-flavored ice cream sounds intriguing!) seems to have provided a lot of inspiration and enjoyment. It's wonderful how such experiences can boost one's enthusiasm for gardening and bring a sense of community and learning.
Gaz! Oh my goodness! The sparkle in your eyes from the magic of gardening will never fade! Seeds are amazing and remind us of the possibilities in our lives. My mantra is, “I plant the seed, God does the rest!” Continued blessings to both you and Ben.
❤ hey Gaz! This episode made me happy and smiling! If I weren’t happily married, I would come to Wales and bang on your door 😊 I don’t think you will ever get tired of your garden or stop feeling happy in it , greetings from Sweden by the way 🇸🇪
@darrenbailey27 some vegans rescue chickens and feed the eggs back to the chickens, with the shell, to make up for loss of calcium because of intense egg laying. 🤍
I absolutely loved this video! Two friends sharing their passion for gardening and no Gaz, you will not lose the joy and excitement when you slice open something you grew from seed 💌 I hope you'll have more guests, share tips and make us smile, thanks!
Enjoyed the enthusiasm and sense of wonder in this young man! Watching this when we are expecting a blizzard in the next 24 hrs so, #1: love seeing the GREEN of my ancestors’ land and #2 this gets me more excited for March and beyond when my 2024 season begins! 🙏🏼 thanks!
"The Green, green grass of home"❤ This is why I don't complain about all the rain we get... though this winter it just hasn't stopped !! It's "Mud, glorious mud "😅😅. Seeing the Welsh countryside all dry with yellowing grass ,when we had a drought a few summers ago , was awful.Best Wishes to you.Hope that blizzard didn't cause too many problems for you.
Ben, just want to let you know that you inspired me to do gardening. I remember watching one of your videos and it was the beginning of more research and finally being brave enough to start. From a very low maintenance lawn now my back garden has turned into a very productive space. Been growing loads of brassicas, beans, squashes, flowers, etc since february this year. My mental health has been a lot better (I lost both of my parents within two months last year and was in a dark place as my late mother has been a rock in my life), overall gardening has changed my life. Thank you.
This is so joyous to read - I'm so pleased you have discovered gardening. And I agree, it really is so good for our mental health and general wellbeing. :-)
The purple sprouting broccoli needed Huw Richards' face to pop up for a second. 😆 This garden is lovely. Aubergine and Courgette are so much nicer sounding words than eggplant and zucchini.
Those zuccini flowers look wonderful. I once grew zuccini /courgette but didn't have success for some reason with the fruits, so decided to focus on the flowers. I harvested them here and there, stuffed them with a rice based filling and pan fried them. They were a real treat. Vegie Gardens are hard work but absolutely worth it, no matter how big or small. Thank you for sharing this garden.
What a treat , watching you both wandering round the garden in such a beautiful setting, Gaz’s crops look amazing especially that beautiful beetroot. Thank you so much for sharing .
'I went a bit crazy when I was looking for seeds...' Yes, you are a gardener. I love to see a garden from a chef's perspective and if the recipe for the dairy-free basil ice cream is something that could be shared, that would be wonderful.
Great work Ben! I hadn’t heard of Gaz before but am impressed by his genuine love of gardening and fresh produce. If you ever come to Australia you can interview me - I successfully grew a tomato and half a carrot 🥕 😂 Love your work and the inspiration you provide 😬 🇦🇺 🐨 🦘
This was such a fun video! It was cool seeing the garden in reverse. Usually we plant our crops, then decide how to use them. Here a chef, who knew how you use ingredients, designed a garden. And that basil ice cream....must go find a recipe!!
When he said feeling the joy he does at that age walking into the tunnel it made me laugh 😂 im 28, which isnt that young, not that mature but I feel the same when im smiling non stop at all my plants. 2nd season starting now and im looking forward to it
Ben this was such a pleasure to watch! Gaz is a remarkable gent and I enjoy watching his videos as well! I was especially touched at Gaz' rescue chickens-- A complete WIN-WIN!!!
Good on ya Ben, Gaz is a lovely chap. Getting hyped with our spring planting downunder and I couldn't agree more with Gaz on the rescue chickens, we got our girls at 18 months old last autumn and they're unrecognisable from the featherless things we found them as. They're laying prolifically and providing plenty of rich manure. Keep it up guys, love your work!
What an amazing video!! Bursting with serotonin, inspiration and gratitude. I was feeling as if I was in some kind of slump and this has picked me right back up. Gaz needs to do a tour of your garden now and show us a feast with your produce! Thank you guys!
I absolutely LOVE seeing content creators that I follow on each other's channels! 🧡
The collab I didn’t know I needed!
Haha, fab stuff! :-)
This was so wholesome. I feel so relaxed after watching this.
When Gaz said he never imagined at this young age he would this happy in his greenhouse, very wholesome
"I hope that feeling never leaves me" - It won't Gaz- it never gets old! Been gardening for 40 years now! Each season is different. Enjoy!
So true!
I just got my 1st allotment last August 22. I'm in a cloud 9.
Yes! totally agree
My partner is not a plant person quite yet and I'm ending year 2 of gardening, and he is forever impressed with me for growing pounds of produce on our balcony from seed in a lot of the plants❤
That feeling can never go away. It's in your blood if you feel this compassionate about it your first go at it. And you'll never stop learning something new every year.
what a lucky guy to have the happiest gardener on the internet visit his garden.
Well I'd say Gaz is probably the happiest chef - so I was equally blessed! :-)
You guys gave us the collab we didnt know we needed. 2 fine men who are great in their gifts.
I really like your energy Ben. I bet you're really good in drawing out introverts and making them feel comfortable.
Thanks so much, very kind of you to say. It was such a joy filming with Gaz - a really nice bloke!
This is one of the most wholesome videos I’ve seen on UA-cam
It’s lovely to hear someone so joyful about their work and what they’ve grown and harvested ! 😊
Love Gaz. Thank you for having him on
I have been gardening since I could walk following my grandmother around the home garden. The feeling of amazement is food for the soul. Thank you!
When Ben greeted the chicken" hello darling" it melted my heart. What a beautiful thing to say ❤
They were such lovely chickens - very curious animals. It's great that Gaz has given them a new lease of life. :-)

It's always nice to see two of my favourite garden UA-camrs get together for a gardening love in. Thanks to both of you for all the inspiration.
Thanks so much for watching Jessica. :-)
WOW!!! How fun to see Chef Gaz on Gardener Ben's Channel!
Wow never expected a colab between two of my loved content creators. thanks guys!
So wholesome, so calm, so beautiful! Can't wait for summer to grow my basil and then make icecream as well! Purple basil would make the best color!
I reckon purple basil would be awesome in an ice cream! :-)
Love thés
Gaz bringing out his Achillia fact, he never misses the opportunity! Love the video, what a crossover, 2 amazing channels.
Thanks so much. Gaz is quite the dude!
@@GrowVeg Your welcome, love your content, please never stop!
Its funny when these stars get together and geek out on each other. It really breaks the illusion that they aren't just people.
Beautiful garden for a first time gardener. New gardeners always give me hope!!! 😍
It’s a stunner of a garden, definitely.

What a beautiful interview! Love Gaz and have followed him for years!
A great job and beautiful garden! I love your zeal! God's creation is so amazing and I love watching it come to life, learning new things each year.
It never fails to bring joy for sure.
Everything looks spectacular.
Ahhh two of my fave YTers collab! Exactly the sort of gardening content I need to offset the work stress this week.
Two of my favourite channels come together 💚... 9 years vegan, and i started my allotment this year 😊. 🌱
Just wondering as to why Gaz has chickens if he is a vegan? I'm a vegan too and hope they are just rescues.
Great job starting an allotment. Hope you're enjoying it! :-)
Yes, the chickens are rescues. He's saved them from the slaughterhouse and just gives the eggs away.
@darrenbailey27 some vegans rescue chickens and feed the eggs back to the chickens, with the shell, to make up for loss of calcium because of intense egg laying. 🤍
@GrowVeg I love it, only wish I had more time. I work in the care system, and am planning on cutting my hours back 🙂
Ben, how lovely to see you with Gaz, What a fun video guys. How Inspiring for us all. Thank you.🌻🌱🤩
Thanks so much. It was great fun to make. :-)
This made my day seeing the two of you together. I’ve followed you both for years.
