Was there on Sunday and everyone where saying that Saturday was fantastic. I still had a ton of fun and made a couple of very good purchases. Everything you bought is cool.
Believe it or not there are a lot of reasons for Tractor tires being mounted backwards. Some reasons have to do with terrain and others have to do with the type of work the tractor does- An example is if the tractor does a lot of front end pulling…. 😃👍
As a kid, my dad, myself and my brother would use a block and tackle chained to a tree to haul our boat lift out of the water every fall before the winter. It had a 3/4 manilla rope and we made a sling around the boat lift with another. What a PIA project. Dad used to refer to it as "hauling' in the manilla". BTW we preferred the lazy man's whip!!
I'm the biggest rope fanatic! I have a large duffle bag filled with all kinds of rope, just for camping. The "rope bag" had all of the answers for any camping need. Good memories! Can't go past a rope without touching it.
A great bit of America right there people getting together enjoying themselves In the fresh air fantastic video scout god bless take care 🗽🇳🇿🙏🦅👍🇺🇸🏛️ 45
The Dunlap motor was my favorite followed closely by the rope! Your right about rope, I love it, want it, but have no idea what I will use it for. I think it represents a day of the past. Who knows. Thanks for sharing.
Hi John. Just love when you show those shows you go to. I love looking at all those old things. Especially old LAWNMOWERS and tractors. I agree. The hole word is going crazy these days. You sure made some great purchases. Have a great day. Looking forward to Wednesday. 👍👍❤...
Great video 👍 What a fantastic video of the show at Zagray. They had some amazing tractors 🚜 there. That boat 🚣♀️ was a great deal. If I was there I could spend all day at the $1 table 😂😂. That Boston pencil sharpener is real nice , looks pretty heavy duty. The paint on the outside is in nice condition, great find👍. Those homemade screwdrivers 🪛 would be a great project. That hedge trimmer is a pretty good find , just needs a little TLC. What a nice Dunlap motor . I didn’t see nothing wrong with that old plug 🔌 for the motor neither 😂😂. The motor sounds pretty good.👍That was a great find of the rope, that rope looks like it was never used or used much at all . Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Wednesday.Have a good evening. 😄👍👍
You’re a lucky man to have all those deals available. If it wasn’t so far from California, I would come with an empty truck and trailer. I looked for a long time for some rope for my wishing well I built. The materials I used for it was the same as the poor mans flea market. I’m looking forward to the restoration of the screwdrivers. I’m hoping you reconstruct the Phillips . Thank you for the tour.
Thanks for the tour Scout! I remember an old hardware store that was going put of business and had a whole box of those cutter heads for that pencil sharpener. I guess we know why they never sold....I never seen a workout pencil sharpener!. Thanks again and as always, have a happy day 😊
I have one of those B&D hedge trimmers and it still works like a charm. Eats extension cords without fail..:D The prices on the Pony and Jubilee tractors were insane. I hope someone bought them.. The rope was, indeed, a great find, especially in that condition. I, too, tend to buy rope when I see it. I have a large nail keg full of rope that is about 1.5" in diameter...couldn't pass it up. Unfortunately, in the distant past, some small critter had crawled into the key and died, so the smell is still a bit "unpleasant". Maybe this Summer I can get it out into the sunlight for a spell...
I Like The Dunlap Motor Spins Like A Top Is Right . Good Enough For Government Work Made Me Laugh 🤣 ! I Worked With Construction Guys That Used To Say That All The Time ! That And You Can't See It From My House !
My grandmother’s brother Nils was known to say, “it’s not a church”. Grandpa was never happy to hear those words because it was his reputation at stake.
Those hedge clippers were great. I love those. That rope was also a good deal. I’m not happy about the cliffhanger, but I can wait until the next episode. I had a great time walking around Zagray’s.
I always get a kick out of a grand tour! My crazy brain wants to see that John Deere with the fangs on the wheels go through some freshly layed concrete!🥸 the 55 Chevy caught my attention! It looked like a great show!
What kind of maniac does not have a large and varied pencil sharpener collection? The Model A doodlebug looked terrific. I bet you can make those homemade screw drivers sing. Great video. Thank you. Looking forward to part two of the rope lesson.
Its a good thing I live too far away to attend this event. I would be buying stuff and no place to put it. John, you are getting close to 30K Subscribers!!!
Loved the Doodlebug. Really want to make a later version, but I would be in trouble with the city. I am not sure that is a coach lock box. If I am right it is a railroad lock box or a payroll box. Anyway you look at it it is a nice piece. 30 years ago when I had acreage you couldn't get a small tractor like the Ford for that kind of money. I might live long enough to own one or a Model A or T. Even the Dusenberg is coming down in price. Not to my level, but lower. Rope was your best purchase. Wrap that around the bunper of a Jeep or Doodlebug and you are right on the money. It is nice they are making modern ropes for pulling again.
When I get a new hank of rope. I cut it up into various lengths and do an eye splice. Then I finish each length up with different colour tape. Yellow for 5 Metres, Blue for 10, and Red for 20. When I go to do a job I can instantly see which I need, and if I am worried about coming up short, the eye in each end means that I can daisy-chain them if required.
Thanks for taking us along your journey John.. i’m still pretty envious that You have shows like that where you live. Here in Third World So. California. We have nothing like that. I guess its a good thing. I would be buying way too much lol.
Hi John, at 8:36 you have a rare bird there. I believe it to be a "Pow'r Pup tractor. These were homemade from plans published in Science and Mechanics magazine back in the late 50's or very early 60's. They were designed to take attachments from Sears garden tractors. The only thing missing is the hood. They used a lot of modified parts from 1930's Fords.
Glad that you had a good day at Zagray. I missed it because I was in Hospital. I finally got home and am recovering. Thanks for sharing. Good Luck, Rick
I wish my wife was into going to these events. She’s the main reason why I can hardly ever go. But this Saturday I had another communion party anyway, and then a wedding in a few weeks. It never ends!
Wow! My heart is still palpitating over the scenes from the Zagray show. I have to go to the next one in July. The whipping looked like the one in the BSA handbook. Could you dedicate a couple minutes and show how you did it?
Great purchases. I would’ve jumped in that rope as well. Great deal. And I also liked the electric motor. And I would love to see the homemade Phillips screwdriver become usable again. Looks like a great day at the show. Thanks for the tour.
Yesterday, I went to quite the estate sale. It had lots of different tools, as well as glassware that I got. One of my best purchases is a probably WWII era or older Black and Decker drill, and it also give me good ol' Baltimore pride. I also got a couple interesting books, as well as lots of hardware, which I know you would approve of. I go to a lot of estate sales with my mom as well as this thing at a local hospital where people donate stuff that you can then buy and the proceeds go to the Hospital. They're lots of fun and good ways to escape the endless culture war bs you mentioned that most people can't get enough of.
Oeh I really like that small red and blue lawnmower in the beginning of the video! If I had the room I'd be out looking for a tractor again or even better a couple of them. Surprisingly those small ones are often more money then the mid size one, like the Pony one. Keep me away from that 25c table! It will get me in a world of troubles!! Your egg beater drill is my favorite. Thank you for a lovely show, I looked forward to it all day.
Alex it was so nice this year. The only disappointment was my girlfriend was looking forward to cheese fries, but the cheese wasn’t ready yet so we had to get just regular french fries. 😂😂👍
@@ScoutCrafter Yes that is a big disappointment! There was this little show my girlfriend would only go to for the hamburgers she liked and we would leave no later then 10 in the mornin because it starts early😂
That Old Rupp Rogue must be a single cylinder with only 15hp, my Old Rupp American was very similar looking but had 40hp........I'm sure you're going to leave it original but I couldn't help but notice how much that Pencil Sharpener looks like a mailbox and how neat it would look painted up like a mailbox........Looked like a great show and some great bargains to be had, I would have grabbed the motor and rope also had I been there.
Little bummed I could not make it up. I have to get up there eventually. I have definitely shortened my extension cord a time or two with my hedge trimmer.
Great looking purchases you made! I like the motor the best along with the shop made screwdrivers. I hop you will do a tutorial on both. Thanks for sharing this.
Hey Scout, I love black gaffer’s tape. It is sticky, and the backing is a strong cloth. It isn’t plasticky, and is also a great light blocker. I think it would be perfect for your rope.
Wow Scout, that was an awesome video. I love some of the conversations you hear walking around these types of meets. The comment at 1:44 where someone mentioned they had to paint their house and the loud reply “screw that” had me in stitches. At 2:50 you showed the hit n miss engine but that coffin top tool box on the ground grabbed my attention. The metal cookie tin at 4:12 reminded me of some of the politically incorrect items that used to be made. Remember Golly Wogs? I have to ask, are all those guns real? If they were, here in Australia the whole event would be locked down and swat teams would be arresting people. My wife Lea was listening to you and when you mentioned the price of the Ford tractor she jumped up to have a look because according to her, no one sells a tractor for $1600. I would have bought that even though I live on a suburban block and I think Lea would have let me. Country girl. “A stick to bite down on” OMG classic Scout comment😂😂😂 My dad was a rope lover and was always looking for good pieces of rope to splice and whip. Manila was his favorite too. Cheers mate, Stuart & Leanne 🇦🇺
Another great show with great variety. Those hit and miss engines are so cool. Did you notice the engine that used the atmospheric screen cooling to cool the water? What an elegant solution to engine cooling. My favorite acquisition is the Dunlap motor. Looks great and runs beautifully. At 1750 rpm it's also better than the 3400 rpm motors for tool polishing. I'm glad you resisted taking the stuffed boars head home.
Pat- Yes! We had a long conversation with the owner of that magnificent engine. I noticed the radiator was new so I asked him where he obtained such a piece, he said there was a guy in Ct. who makes these custom brand new! It cost about $350- awesome right?! 😃👍
The rope was my favorite purchase. The whipping ( not sure it’s spelled right) I have seen it done with copper wire and varnished, also with some strings from a piece of the rope itself unwound to string like thickness and spar varnish sealed. I would love to see that show some time, looks like great fun, thanks for the video sir.
Cool, seeing the '53 Ford golden jubilee for only $ 1600. I own one myself. They are valued around $3000 in western New York, I would have bought that one in a heartbeat
Another great video. Thanks John! I had a great time a Zagray over the weekend. I really wanted to look over Brian's tools but being on the ground made it difficult for my old bones. I'd bet he sell a lot more if they were on tables.
Rope ! Did you say Rope !! I have miles of rope and cordage !! You stole that beautiful rope ! Nice motor as well !!
Hook!! I absolutely knew you would be stocked up with Rope! 😂👍
Boy that sure gets the excitement going for the Jacktown event!

You should'a got the cap to go with all the rest of the good stuff. Zagray was outstanding! Thanks, John and BLESSINGS the rest of the week!
These videos are a feast for the eyes. The screw driver table right at the very beginning would have kept me busy for a while.
That rope was the best deal by far .that boat was a steal in the video the trailer is worth 500 alone if it's gavinized

Johnny weissmuller prefers vines but a good rope will work
Thanks for another great video. I use all of your videos as an escape from this crazy world.

Nice show tour. Love to see all the vendor tables. Nice motor. So smooth and quiet. Another great one.

16:28 Oiled bearings, rubber glove and stick to bite down. Couldn’t believe you did that. 😂😂😂😂
Better safe than sorry
Did lol at the stick
Nice motor you picked up. Those old ones work the best and last the longest.

I love the ‘55 model. Smaller grill was my favorite.

That “Phillips “ screw driver, put it in a 5c collet block and cut it to work. That would be cool to see.

Paint on the eggbeater is original, Stanley used that “cordovan” shade of brown from the late sixties to the early eighties
Thanks! It was the least attractive of all the Stanley finishes. 😃👍
So awesome! Those hit & miss are very fun. I have a couple. Might even be here on my channel......

Culver City old tool swap meet ...four times a year ..but it's very small compared to what we saw today
I love the bit of wood to bite into when trying out old electrical gear. I must get one of those for my workshop.
Love hit and miss engines, that one was sure quiet. My favorite of your purchases was the hedge clipper, looks and works fantastic!

Love the tour, the screwdrivers were neat, but the Dunlop ran so smooth, impressive, thanks again for great episode!
I see a great potential in those screwdrivers
Another great video. I don't know how those vendors can sell wrenches for 25 cents. I thought the pencil sharpener was the most interesting.
Looked like a good time...that 55 chevy looked sweet...that motor at 1750 RPM another sweetheart...good stuffff...🖖
This was an awesome tool hunt. Thanks so much for sharing it with us and have a great day.
I saw items in the video that I missed at the show! The Dunlap motor was a real score. Look forward to seeing the restoration.
I Like that rope Would be nice for decorating something Or redo an old wood block and tackle
yeah but the miss and miss engines are by far the quietest
Another great episode !!

Thank you so much for taking us along to Zagray, love these episodes, just wish we had shows like that in the UK, 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️
