This is the clearest & most direct approach to this problem on you tube!!!...people should take heed to this mechanic...in the past i lost hundreds of dollars on this problem because the details were not made as clear. Sometimes "yes" you do have to spell it out or draw a picture! ...(as they say). Thank you and please continue your explanatory technique!!
I was getting this same engine code on my kids 2006 Impala. I myself replaced the top 3 culprits; purge canister, gas cap, and purge solenoid. After each replacement (which were easy to do, and moderately priced), the code would reappear within a few days. Took it to a mechanic who was able to diagnose this sensor. Without a lift, decided to just cough up the money to have it done. So far so good! Thanks for this video. Shows me the process involved.
@@osoprizzell7322 there was little to no gas mileage change once it was replaced. The leak on mine was very slow. Before the repair, it would take a reset light a few days to trigger the engine light. Have a mechanic diagnose the problem with a scan tool. It could be one of the three other issues, or something else. A large air leak may cause quicker fuel flow.
Just had a check engine light come on in my 2007 Impala 3.5 V6. Scan says faulty FTP sensor probable. This video is very helpful, great explanation of what's involved.
The gas tank straps in the north east are not that easy to deal with usually rusted solid and bust the welded nuts inside the frame so you have to cut it and use a fabric strap
So you were able to lower the tank just enough to get at that sensor, and didn't have to disconnect any fuel lines, evap lines, or the filler hose? I wonder if I can do it on the ground on ramps? 🤔
I have a sonata with a P0455 (large leak detected) and P0451 evap emission system-pressure sensor range/performance code. Does this mean ftp sensor is bad and would it trigger 0455? Or would a leak trigger P0451 and not necessarily be the fuel tank sensor? Appreciate any help, ty.
My 2013 Ford Explorer XLT (4cyl Fwd) showed code P0451 that came last week but its been sitting for few months. The mechanic replaced CV shaft (another issue) and it's gone now. Snapon diag said P0451 - "EVAP system pressure sensor/switch "A" circuit range/performance - not current DTC." What cud be the issue?
On a related note. I put a new water pump on my 70 Impala 350 yesterday. After letting it heat up to check for leaks, it was good. Took it down the road and floored it and oil just started going everywhere. engine bay and windshield. looks like it coming from the front of the block, but it doesn't drip just parked. I didn't do anything related to oil
I read my fuel tank pressure (in.h20) before I changed the sensor and it was negative -5.3 when I changed it it's still reading negative, - 1.26 why is it negative? I replaced it with an oem delco. I don't get it..
Got an 05 cobalt have put a canister on it also a purge valve but still have po446 doesn't seem to leak anywhere could it be the pressure sensor? Also I did take it off awhile back and it threw a po445 (the code for the pressure sensor I believe also never came back on) then went away but the 446 came back.
What are some of the symptoms. I have a 2004 chevy suburban and have to turn the key to on 2 to 3 times so the engine does not crank forever before it starts.
Hey my mph meter jumps up and down right along with my rpm on my 2008 impala I changed the speed sensor that didn’t fix the issue I’m thinking of buying the transmission fuel sensor I haven’t checked the fuse box nor to see if the wires are touching or dirty with oil what do you think the problem on my car is ? Thanks
That impala has an access hatch above the tank inside the trunk...fyi. all models from 2000 to 2016 have this. Beatt to fold down the rear seat to get to it

@@klowny1969 - OK, I'm back and subscribed now. Waiting on a new fuel filter. Then I'm doing that sensor. Thanks for this video!
What is the other sensor with four connections mines corroded would that cause zero fuel pressure
Why does the little round dial that is on top of the socket that plugs into the fuel pump, turn?
What year is that Impala?

It could be your ftp, vent solenoid, purge valve..or a hole somwhere..can also be ur gas cap..don't forget to subscribe

That might be your check valve in your fuel pump. Hook up a pressure gauge to verify..don't forget to subscribe

Should be similar

Where is fuel tank pressure sensor on a 2004 monte Carlo. V6 engine
2007 Chevy cobalt 2.2liter fuel pressure sensor
Should be basically the same
do you need to drain the gas tank?
Nope..don't forget to subscribe
It helps if you run it to below 1/4 tank as it will be a lot lighter to deal with.
Where did you get the sensor and how much ?
