Why do I spend fifty bucks a month subscribing to movie streaming services when I’d rather spend my time watching a surly Canadian complaining about soldering bridge grounds?
I have a G&L Classic S with three of those pick ups in it. They are AMAZING sounding pickups, with the single coils sound, but minus the 60 cycle hum. very High Fidelity pick ups, some of the best I'VE EVER HEARD.
also to everyone those sideways screwdrivers are handy but also be careful not to insert it all the way. Leave a little space between the tool and the neck because you can scrape finish off the neck too! Learned that one the hard way :(.
I was always a Strat player but I do enjoy Tele’s so long as they’re not trying to be a single cut Strat, a “Lesser Paul” (a Tele with P90’s) or a guitar-shaped object made from your Grandmas table. Don’t even get me started on the patina’d “vintage reissue” $3000 PoserCasters…
Great job and upgrade to a Tele. Any pickups are a upgrade to fender ones but these are great. Still don't like teles I'm a les Paul player but great upgrade dave
You must have beefy neck and shoulders. Old(er) guy with bad neck...switched to Ibanez S and SA bodies for less pressure over hours on neck and shoulders. Best Regards!
YEAH! What was Leo thinking when he put the truss rod adjustment at the heel of the neck. I had a 65 RI strat that had that heel adjustment and hated it.
Hi, Dave! I just happened to notice that your soldering iron holder is upside down compared to mine, and mine can only go one way. Is there a deep and meaningful explanation for this anti-gravity swirl? Whilke I'm here, thanks for all the videos -- they're fabby. 🙃
The capacitor mod is commonly known as the "treble bleed" mod in guitars. Turning the volume control down does not roll off the treble as well with this installed. Its a great mod and so easy to install! Why leave the blob on the pot though Dave?
What are my options for a cheap SSS strat type guitar? I'm thinking I could get a cheap one and mod it? Would it be worth the labor if I either do it myself or pay someone else to?
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff sorry , my silly ! By the way , don't use the red locktite , I used it on a small project and and could not remove the parts ! Use the blue version , not so vicious

I will never understand why players want guitars intentionally made to vintage specs, with design flaws that modern manufacturing has long corrected for easier and more effective serviceability.
Some people will pay an assload of money for a patina’d “PoserCaster” too… $4000 for a brand new “vintage reissue” that was intentionally made to look like UPS was playing hot potato with it. I’ll never understand why. If you want a guitar that looks like crap, go to your local pawn shop and buy the shittiest guitar there and save yourself some cash. I’m not disagreeing that SOME vintage guitars sound great. In that regard, you’re correct. But I’ve seen the very worst irrationality with regard to older designs being magic or even good by today’s manufacturing standards. Tighter tolerances, more consistent repeatability and just mechanically more sound design features.
That truss-rod adjustment tool needs to be drop-forged, not a bent up piece of shit that threatens to "give" without warning. Is there any such thing already on the market?
I don't care what the vintage fiends say, truss rods with the nut at the heel end are a very poor design (unless they give you the Musicman-style spoke wheel).

Hey Dave, just wanted everyone to know those kickass soldering clamps are on Amazon. Goot heat clips. Peace buddy
My electrician dad taught me about wire connections, like water, it starts here, and goes here!
Sweet Thursday surprise vid from dave...love it. Your in peak format bud
Nicely done Dave. I may have to do this mod to my own Telecaster. Cheers!
outro music has a good base line, luv it.
that's me :)
I can watch your videos all day Dave
Nice telecaster, but if I were modding it I’d also change the selector switch for the offset one that allows more clearance for the volume knob.
old retired guys have little money for fun
I put Joe Barden pickups in my Tele in 1988. I bought them directly from him.
He no longer has anything to do with JBE.
Barden’s are the best Tele upgrade!
Another great video Dave. Best Luthier on UA-cam period.
Wow, thanks!
I have a 100 dollar fire fly former owner put JBE pick ups in it sounds great .
I picked up a black guard tele and.. I dunno. It just doesn’t move me like my other two pickup guitars, maybe it’s just because I suck at twang.

I wonder what that Tele would sound like with a TBX tone control.
Hi Dave, did you get the Allen wrench ear digger I sent??
did you get the kik in nuts self starter kit I sent?

I tried to help a friend with replacing a few pots in his Epi SG. They must have used plumbing solder cause I could not get it to melt.
lead free solder is like that ..melts at a higher temp
Good job Dave!

link?

Great video.
I love those alloy sprung clips , who manufactures them ? please
I said I can't find them anymore
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff I gave you 2 of those clips when you setup my strat 2 years ago. I stole them from work. I think they came from digikey.

Slot heads sound better.
63/37 is far superior to 60/40. Eutectic solder is the way.
Just starting to solder. I already put some 63/37 in my Amazon cart when he mentioned it. Have some tiny gauge wire now. Best Regards!
I wish this dude was my neighbor. I’d bring him booze and herb and just watch him work. Hopefully he would cut me a deal.

The 300 celsius solder joint dont care if you blow on it. Nothing happens if you do. If you think that you're not living in reality.
creates a cold contaminated solder joint..just saying
Hey Dave are those the Danny Gatton JBE's? Great pickups ether way!
yes
Tan lines
Why wouldn’t they recommend changing the pots to 500k?
ask them
