Just made up my mind to include Chemistry in my IB course set next year... Your video was very helpful for me to see how should I prepare for that! Looks like chem is not that scary as it is said to be 😁 Good job! 🌌
You are seriously a life saver and a person who motivates me and a lot of other people to study and you just inspire me so so much. I am in high school right now and I am taking chemistry regents soon and you don’t know how much you just inspired to me to study 😭😭
from a guy who's currently studying for my high school finals, I say: Chemistry is a MIGRAINE but not impossible high school is fun at some parts and you haven't seen anything until senior year GOOD LUCK!
I've been struggling to figure out a way to study ever since I was in fifth grade. Now I am in 10th grade and I still couldn't figure out a great way to study and I would memorize stuff without even knowing what I was learning. This has truly helped me figure out a new to study. Thank you so much.
Thank you SO MUCH you are an angel!!!! I'm taking chem HL and was really down about it, and this has made me start to look at it in a new way like it's actually doable
Summary of video: 1. Scope out the resources - be aware of all the resources available to you, e.g. textbooks, syllabus 2. Learn the content. Either use sticky note method to take rough notes during class, use them to write full notes at home. Or second method write out notes before the class. 3. Summary notes/booklet. Then do lots of practise!
THANK YOU for making videos about IB learning, I've been taking IB since fourth grade (PYP 7) and I'm now in 9th grade (MYP 4) and your videos help me a lot, thank you so much. I never find videos for IB students!
You are a new life for me 1 year of my course is gonna be over in another 16 days I'm really shuffled and not on the right track I have another 2 years more Gonna cover the 1st year's work in the summer holidays and move in your flow from my 2nd year
Is it possible that you can show us how do you make the revision tracker at the front page of your binder? I found your tips really helpful! Thank you very much!
Eres muy ordenada por lo que se ve, he tenido muy buenos alumnos, pero solo algunos pueden sacar 7, y de acuerdo a mi experiencia como docente de Química IB por 10 años, recomiendo el libro de pearson, saludos desde varadero
I'm at the end of the IB and I'm dying lol. And I still don't have decent notes for any of my subjects. I exist perpetually in a state where I want to do work, but just can't.
Thank youu i’m having such a hard time writing my notes for biology, feel like it’s not even clicking my head. I’m just writing thing is that I don’t understand. Definitely have to do the third method
i'm 1 month in the IB chemistry (SL but still), i never took my gcse's or any chemistry related courses at all and i'm super slow at calculations too :')) i rlly needed this
Loved the video but I have a question. How can one collect question papers or question content and makes it into a question booklet? Because most past papers are used, so do you retype them or are there chances of getting unused past paper?
Hello :) I saw that you were using muji pens, which i do too. How do you deal with highlighting? Because for me it tends to smear so I have to wait around a day before highlighting or highlight before writing.
does anyone know where I can find booklets like that for biology sl?? 'btw this video was really helpful!, I don't take chemistry but I will be using this method for my other courses.
So did you write your notes after each sub topic or each full topic ? did you write them once, or rewrite them? and the notes you write in class did they count as your official notes you put in your big binder?
Doesn't that all take way too much time? Like you really go through everything thrice or something and then you write it down even neater and stuff... I mean I love stationary and writing stuff down neatly but I'm kinda overwhelmed by this taking up so much time...
I totally see how this may come across as time consuming but remember everyone learns differently! Personally, me writing it out a bunch of times really helps to solidify my understanding of topics (esp. with the nitty gritty details). Just be aware that I did this as I went through the course which is 2 years long (i.e. not all at once!). I am just suggesting these methods for people who may also learn through these methods - it won't work for everyone! :)
@@studycollab I actually do learn like that but not that often because first, I'm in 8th grade, and second, I don't need to learn that much because I am very quick at understanding so I learn in our classes and it work pretty well. I think you might just have a little more time for doing it that way. Although I'm not very busy during the day, so I could learn more often... But I'm not concentrated for a long time so... Also just wanted to say thank you for bringing up this revision book technique! I really helped me with learning more and more motivated! Love that method. Thank you
do you have any tips on how to structure my notes? At school we use the oxford chem textbook but as you said, it doesn't explain things well. And I don't have access to the NTK one, thus it's between Cambridge and oxford for me.
Nope! My summary notes stick exactly to the syllabus points but the class notes are just following the teachers presentation/include practice questions/experiments we did in class
studycollab: alicia Okay, I’ve still got a few doubts, I’m doing IB next year and I’m trying to learn a little about studying for it before going in, you videos really help! Thank you for them. This is what I’ve gathered so far, please correct me if I’m wrong: so during class you make rough class notes based on what the teacher says etc, then after class you compile many resources to make summary/final notes, after which you then make summary booklets, flash cards etc? The difference between your booklets and summary notes is that the booklets only include what the subject guide requires?
how hard do you think HL chemistry is on a scale from 1-10? I'm really not sure if I should but I might have to because I'm thinking of majoring in biology as premed. :(
Although this is a super late response, I'll go ahead and give you my opinion. IB Chemistry is a hard class- there's so much to memorize, and more importantly, *UNDERSTAND*, that responsible time management and studying is a must. Don't be afraid to look online to supplement your lessons, since not everyone can understand one professor's method of teaching. I would also suggest balancing your classes (ie. don't overload yourself with HL Chem and HL math/physics) so you can take care of yourself whilst learning. However, the course is fun and rewarding if you put the work in. The sheer rigour will prepare you for pre-med. HL biology is a lot of memorization but HL chemistry alone will not cover biology sufficiently for your aspirations. Hence, consider taking AP biology or a course offered by a local community college to learn in that field as well.
I teach chemistry. I’m going to show this to my students.
Jeremy Gilbert He said he teaches Chemistry, he is probably a teacher.
I teach chemistry too, nice too meet u. I'm Vietnamese
