LotS was a fairly expensive show to produce, even though it was made in New Zealand. However, it had decent ratings that had increased over its two seasons. What killed it was two things. One, Disney had bought ABC, which had produced the show for syndication to networks and individual stations who bought the package. Two, Tribune Entertainment, which had about a fifth of the U.S. market, filed for bankruptcy and so couldn't buy a third season. Disney cared nothing for a legacy show that didn't fit its plans, and so had no interest in producing LotS itself or provide financing to fill the gap left by Tribune backing out. There was a half-hearted effort to sell LotS to SyFy, but it wasn't a serious thing for either party. The Mouse eventually murders every property it gets its gloved hands on.
Ten years ago, i created a list of episodes for a projected third and final season had Ken Biller & co. been given the green light, based on the recognized storytelling limits of LotS and what seemed to be the preferences of the producers. It would have touched on the books up through Confessor. (First block of episodes) "Balance": Aftermath of "Tears". Team Seeker has to stop Darken Rahl's scheme to gain immortality and return to power. Nicci is rescued, but escapes before Team Seeker decides what to do with her. To ensure DR's defeat, Dennee restores her adopted body to its previous own (and so dies, leaving Kahlan as the last Confessor), but not before forgiving Cara. As with Reckoning, we soon learn that Richard's and Darken's efforts unwittingly unleash a new danger. "Dreamwalker": Introduction of Jagang and the Imperial Order. Destruction of the Palace of the Prophets as the Old World is lost. Return of Verna and introduction of Warren. "Bond": Richard goes to D'Hara to prove that he's the true Lord Rahl. Introduction of Berdine, Raina, and Nathan Rahl. "Passion": Richard and Kahlan goes to Aydindril to try to unite the Midlands under Richard's command, but faces old rivalries and the Blood of the Fold. Introduction of Benjamin Meiffert. "Reason": Reason": Conclusion of previous episode. Hopefully the Mud People could be included, but if not there should still be a low-key Richard/Kahlan wedding at the end. "Alliance": Dreffen Rahl is introduced, posing as an ally. "Temple": Temple of the Winds, which puts Richard's and Kahlan's love to the test. "Sovereign": Team Seeker in Andereth, where they suffer reverses and confront cracks in the Midlands/D'Haran alliance. "Stratagem": Trick within a trick, as Richard appears to give up the fight, but soon knocks the Imperial Order back on its heels, allowing for breathing space. (Second block of episodes) "Nemesis": Verna's and Warren's wedding (with first hint of Cara/Ben), but tragedy strikes. "Conviction": Clip episode. Possibly taking place on present day Earth, as a sceptic meets the Daggett Society (from the Law of Nines uber novel) and reads from a mysterious book. "Keep": Return of Chase and Rachel, as the Wizard's Keep is besieged. Jennsen and Tom are sent on a long journey, to get Jennsen out of the way of a forthcoming arc. "Pet" or "Emporium": Comedy episode...the former if Gratch could be included, the latter if not. "Instrument": Six returns Violet to power in Tamarang. Violet is willing to be Six's puppet as long as she gets vengeance on Rachel, and so Rachel is kidnapped as part of a plot to lure Team Seeker to its doom. Unfortunately for Violet, her scheme will uncover who is the rightful Queen of Tamarang. "Queen": To protect his people, Richard surrenders himself to Nicci and is taken to Altur'Rang. Kahlan takes charge in D'Hara, leading its forces to victory against the odds. In a build-up from previous episodes and her experiences with Cara, Kahlan's previous horror and mistrust of the Mord'Sith is slowly replaced by sympathy and pity as she learns more about them. In the fight at the climax, Raina sacrifices her life to protect Kahlan. The surviving Mord'Sith declare the Queen Consort of D'Hara as a Sister of the Agiel as a mark of their respect. "Faith": Richard does a little artwork. (Third block of episode) "Effaced": LotS's version of the Chainfire is released. "Caska": Team Seeker (minus Kahlan) uncover the existence of the Chainfire, as well as an even more dangerous scheme that could mean total victory for the Imperial Order. To that end, the Boxes of Orden are restored by Jagang; but Nicci returns Richard's han, and the Seeker begins to learn the secrets of a War Wizard. At the end, Richard is reunited with memory-wiped Kahlan. "Abomination": Richard and his people must rescue Kahlan from Jagang's clutches. Return of Jennsen and Tom. "Spirit": Richard and amnesiac Kahlan have to go to the Underworld. Denna comes through at last. "Game": LotS version of Ja'La. Richard and Jagang are neck-and-neck in the race to become the Master of Orden. Kahlan falls in love with Richard all over again (and almost gets killed to protect him), which breaks the Chainfire. "Life": Who will become the Master of Orden? The ultimate gambit at the Tree of Life. Jennsen's sacrifice to maintain balance. A "white wedding" at the end.
I absolutely LOVED that first episode and then I found out about the book series when I watched the 2nd episode air. I was quick to get them and to start reading; that is when my love for the show abruptly died. How they can state that this show was based on the book series just absolutely baffles me. The show is horrible in comparison and why they made so much stuff up that wasn't in the books was even more ridiculous. Even small things like how Kahlan has green eyes, and the book mentioned this so many times that it wasn't even funny - seriously, contacts aren't that expensive! Zedd and Richard were friends wayyyyy before Kahlan ever came through the boundary; Richard memorized the Book of Counted Shadows because George basically forced him to memorize it so well that he could write the book verbatim without error and then George and Richard threw the book into a fire and destroyed it. Why did they make up so much stuff that never happened in the book when there were 11 books published at the time? I simply can't wrap my brain around that. The writers had SO MUCH MATERIAL to use but they didn't - they made 95% of the show up with their own creativity and then had the nerve to say they based it off of the series?!? No, you stole the characters, mostly, and then took a few of the bad guys from it too! The show is an absolute mess in comparison - it is NOT based on the books. A part of me will always have a love for the show because that's how I found out about the series, and since having read it all, is now my personal favorite series. But that is where my love for the show ends. Those wondering why the series canceled, this is why. The writers of the show made such critical errors which caused them to lose their following by the true fans of the series. When you have enough following to successfully publish as many books as Terry Goodkind has, you should probably consider those fans when using his material. If you want a show, that's based on books, to be successful, it's wise to not anger those fans by producing something that doesn't even remotely follow the books. I'm honestly amazed that the show even made it to 2 seasons. The actors, for the most part, were chosen well. The way Bridget Regan did Kahlan Amnell was pretty good (except GREEN EYES!!!), Cara? FANTASTIC, Zedd wasn't too bad, Adie (who's actually important and not a one-episode character) - oh yea! But Darken Rahl is not Richard's brother hahaha, Richard is a big burly guy and TALL, and the Sisters of the Light had nothing to do with the Confessors - which mind you, Kahlan is the only one the entire time...... my goodness I could go on! Anywho, to those of you who love the show, you really need to check out the book series - Your mind will change so much once you've read the series. I promise you, the books are wonderful (albeit the never-ending Richard speeches and an excessive amount of walking through the woods in some of the books, it's WONDERFUL! And if you are like me who fell in love with the love between Richard and Kahlan, then READ THE BOOKS! OH....MY.....CREATOR!!! Once you get to The Children of D'Hara series, you will NOT be disappointed lol! I'm such a hopeless romantic and the ending - all I can say is THANK YOU TERRY GOODKIND! LOL! I'm still filled with so much lover over that ending that I so badly needed to happen. *heart-y eyes for life*
@Chrystal McCoy yes, thanks for the review, I definitely agree that Terry Goodkind books weren't brought to life by the series, they tried though but didn't focus more on the details...
Yeah, the series only had the characters by name, but they changed almost everything about them. Though in the season 1, they repeatedly shown that they could bring the series to life, by following a scene from the books, they would then go off the rails, and do their own thing. Which made season 1 hard to watch. Season 2, they basically dropped trying to following the series, and started to make their own story, that's when the series started to take off, and that's when the started to get really good. I've read the books a dozen times, and was super ticked with the tv series. Hollywood screws up every books series. I don't know why they think they have to change anything.
@@VRIceblast Exactly! I would love for them to try again only this time, maybe HBO or something doing it. Honestly, it's not a show that should be aired on regular tv programming as I feel it's just too intense and graphic for all that. The books could come to life very easily but they just have to have the right people doing it. I mean, look at Game of Thrones and how well they did that? That is something they should look at when dealing with a series as extensive as the Sword of Truth Series. People who don't read books should be granted this experience as well. I mean, you're not going to get everything that you get from the books, obviously, but this series is now 26 books long and that's not counting Law of Nines (such a good book, by the way.) People who've never read the books, yea, it's a great show, but it was sooooooo bad for those of us who read the book. I'm sorry, there was no way I could simply ignore the books when watching the TV series. I sadly watched it all but it was brutal. I mean, they showed the Gars looking like these hideous creatures, but seriously, how can they do that when Gratch exists. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I seriously teared up when he said, "Gratch luuug Richarrgg." You dare make me think of Gars to be as hideous as they were on the show - they're ugly, but they're furry and READERS LOVE GRATCH DANGIT!!! And the Mriswith, where were they? The worst cut from the show was the Mud People........ I just can't forgive the Producer for this error in judgment. The Mud People, though not in the books much, were extremely important to the series. That's where the romance truly came into play between Richard and Kahlan. I'm just befuddled. Don't mind me - passionate reader, here lol!
It's been over a decade since they finished and even though Bridget Craig H and Tab are more than willing to do another season or more, they all have to be available at the same time in order for it to work. You should watch the instagram lives that Bridget did in April.

@Shittu Waliu yeah, It could have gone on for a few more seasons but they tapped out too early, wonderful epic series that got us at the edge of our seats👌
@Ash Doodge yeah, it's unfair to compare the film to the books, the books are detailed and sometimes they omit that on the scenes because of budget cost and all that, still it was a good series😎
An ambitious show that at the time was too expensive for regular tv to afford. Just like Firefly. Which thankfully got a movie for closure. Maybe it would have had a better chance with STARZ or HBO.
I don't know why the producers produce a film and yet they can't complete a the series .tell me who is to be blame, the casts or the producer or all of them.i miss this film.
Why did they cancel this!! It ended well but had to pack it up quick in last two episodes. Bummeerr. These networks are stupid. They could do a good reboot with them being older with kids. Still would be awesome!!!
@Jason Hays I totally agree with you on that... They never took their time with the little details like in the books, I mean, comon, the book is the Blue print, yet they never really focus on the details, it was good in its time though😉
@@magnificent6799 You could never make a Sword of Truth series that was faithful to the books and still be suitable for general audience television, any more than you could GRRM's.
I love the books, but liked the show. the show was too different from the book. (that's why terry pulled his name out.) Cara and Kahlan were cast perfectly. the rest were nothing like their book counterparts. Darken Rahl was Richard brother and not his real father? Richard was about a foot too short and 30lbs light in muscle. Zed was about two feet taller than he should have been. I still watch the show sometimes. I listen to the books all the time on audible. could be why I didn't like the show as much. I'm too invested in the hooks. cheers.
Terry Goodkind is credited in each episode, and was in the initial publicity tours of the television series, so I'm not sure how one could say that he repudiated the series. He knew from the git go that the series was not going to be particularly true to his books, which is which the series is called the "Legend" of the Seeker, and not something like The Sword of Truth. Book fans should approach LotS on its own merits, just as the Last of the Mohicans movie is a great film, but a travesty of the James Fenimore Cooper novel.
I was heartbroken when they stopped this show.

"Balance": Aftermath of "Tears".
(Second block of episodes)
"Nemesis": Verna's and Warren's wedding (with first hint of Cara/Ben), but tragedy strikes.
(Third block of episode)
"Effaced": LotS's version of the Chainfire is released.

Deberían hacer una Nueva temporada antes que se hagan más mayores...
I love the show though
What's the name of the music playing in the background?
Lastima que no siguieron con los otros capítulos. 🇨🇷
i love cara
Jolene Blalock who played sister Nicky the first time she was there
0:25 whaaaat!!!!! 25!!!
When three season Legend of the Seeker?
It's been over a decade since they finished and even though Bridget Craig H and Tab are more than willing to do another season or more, they all have to be available at the same time in order for it to work. You should watch the instagram lives that Bridget did in April.
@@heatherglover7789 Ok
Please someone should help me with the name of the background music
Name of background music is "Journeyman" by Aakash Gandhi💪
it was an awesome show every 4 years i to watch it again haha, some studio should remake it again or make an openworld videogame that would be cool
Darken rahl was 🔥
@Jayy Clarke, lets show some love for Darken rahl👏👏👏
The movies was awesome and educative but I just don't knw why they didn't finish d movie.....I still have d 1&2 season... whenever bi watch it ,I felt I haven't watch it before.....
@Shittu Waliu yeah,
It could have gone on for a few more seasons but they tapped out too early, wonderful epic series that got us at the edge of our seats👌
Richard still looks good
Man not like woman
If you read the books you would honestly consider this show horrendous
Even though the book is is better the show was still pretty cool
@Ash Doodge yeah, it's unfair to compare the film to the books, the books are detailed and sometimes they omit that on the scenes because of budget cost and all that, still it was a good series😎
Where are they now.kahlan and Richard.we want more movies with them together with cara.
@ISLAND GIRL RIZ ALATON I totally feel you, I wouldn't mind another season of Legend of the seeker
🖤🔥
An ambitious show that at the time was too expensive for regular tv to afford. Just like Firefly. Which thankfully got a movie for closure. Maybe it would have had a better chance with STARZ or HBO.
Sara 😍
the picture of Emily Baldoni as Nicci is not accurate. the picture of Nicci on the left side is Jolene Blalock
I miss this show. They are making so much trash, but no the one of the few good shows didn't continue. Really sad.
@bankaiii bankaaa, they should pick it up once again... it's never too late, plus the cast members still haven't aged that much!

Where is Matthew Le Nevez, who played Leo Dane?
I don't know why the producers produce a film and yet they can't complete a the series .tell me who is to be blame, the casts or the producer or all of them.i miss this film.
@Sarahfina Ekhator many factors come into play that leads to a series being cancelled, in this case I believe it was due to poor ratings
@@magnificent6799 I call it political issue.even a film that is not worth dying for wins..
Disney killed it, because it was to them a red-headed stepchild.
Ну почему Зэд тааак изменился?¿?¿°¿°((((
Kara was prettier then
N where's that lil boy that the keeper was in
And the boy that could read minds
@Jayy Clarke what was the boys name, I do remember that episode though, it was in season 1 episode 5 if my guess is correct
suppose I'll just get the books
@David Thompson for an in-depth overview, yes, the books should be of help
Why did they cancel this!! It ended well but had to pack it up quick in last two episodes. Bummeerr. These networks are stupid. They could do a good reboot with them being older with kids. Still would be awesome!!!
🥰❤️

I just found out about this show it's horrible if anyone read the books they completely ruined the story left out characters 😪
The narrator mumbles. What kind of accent is that anyway?
Well said @baraxor, you couldn't have nailed it any better 😀😀

They butchered these, reboot and flow the books.
