Liquid and cream blush… or blusher if you’re from the UK, as I am. (Although my Scouse/Liverpudlian Nana always called it Rouge and had a cardboard Bourjois specimen of rosebud powder peachy pink ca.1952, which she wore every day until she passed in 2003.). This obviously influenced me and until recently I was obsessed with liquid and cream blusher, especially Saie Dew Blush. Then I saw Lisa Eldridge mix her lipstick shades on the back of her hand with either her Elevated Glow Highlighter or other complexion products in recent videos. Absolute Game Changer! Mix your lipstick with moisturiser, foundation, concealer or any other appropriate product. You can tailor make your own shades 😊. I remember reading years ago that the waxes put in lipstick can clog your pores. However, I have not found this to be the case. You can also see examples of this technique from Wayne Goss and Katie JaneHughes. Have a great weekend all❤❤❤xxx
Oh I love this series! Simplifying your stuff, routines, and life is so liberating, and I’m 💯 with you when it comes to all of the things you’ve mentioned. We don’t need them. But my biggest no are the sets of anything really, I very much prefer buying individual items!
I love this series because it really shows how individual we are. Like my scalp LOVES a scalp scrub. It needs one to thrive. So cool seeing how it’s never a one size fits all and we really need to back up and think about what we like and what works for us as consumers
I used to judge my sister so hard for having a luxury hairbrush.. until she got me one for my birthday and I’m telling you, I could never go back. The Mason Pearson hairbrush is some kind of magic. I know it sounds insane and the price IS insane.. I could never justify buying one myself but it’s definitely such a nice gift to receive/gift. Costco has them occasionally for like half the price but it’s still a lot 🙃
I have the Denman dupe, it's like 25 euro. And I compared it with the Mason Pearson of a friend of mine. And didn't notice a difference! So that is a great dupe, if you don't want a expensive brush! I have mine now for 10 years as well and it is still as good as new 😍
The best brush cleanser I've ever used is dish soap. It works like magic because it's made to get rid of fat and oils but you have to use the tiniest bit and/or rinse them very well
I'm with you on lash curlers. I remember Mary Greenwell talking about how 'dolly' lashes and wide-open eyes aren't right for every look. She gave some love to naturally swoopy lashes and the bedroom eyes they create. Curled lashes look fab on other people, but I look way better low and smouldery 😑
I have completely stopped using makeup, hair and dressing up (which feels so empowering) but I still love watching you! It's so fun to live vicariously through you and honestly great practice to remind myself of my lifestyle and say hey I am fabulous in my own way. Also, Allana is always here to vibe and show me the fancy lady things. haha! Love this and hope it can stay a series! Thanks for all your hardwork!
Love this series. Simplifying our lives and making them as easy as possible is a must. I now stick to the product types that I love, no point wasting money ❤
As a pro makeup artist for TV and Film I use Beauty So Clean to clean my brushes for 1st cleanse then just use Bromine's baby liquid soap. I also spray all my makeup with the Beauty So Clean Spray. Sanitizes your pallets. I highly suggest it! You will love it. Just a tip!
I’ve never bought a specific brush cleanser. I simply use any bar of soap. I lay a washcloth on the bottom of the sink, place the bar of soap on it, run the water next to it, rub my brush on the soap, and rinse in the water. It’s sooo fast and easy. This saves so much time, and it cleans brushes really well. When I’m done, I place the soap in a baggie, and put it in the kitchen drawer for next time 🤷🏻♀️😊
Dove unscented has always done the trick for me! I’ve gotten the beauty blender bar cleanser in random sets before and used it just to use it but Dove is better every time.
For me it’s colorful eyeliners! I need a brown and black liquid liner, brown and black pencil, and a brightening waterline pencil. That’s it. I’m always attracted to fun colors, but I NEVER end up using them
Totally agree! The only brush set I bought recently was BK Beauty X Nikki Makeup because it was a smaller curated set (no additional pointless brushes)! I love cream bronzer but I do occasionally dabble with the Jones Road bronzing gel (with the IT cosmetics brush) - it's SO natural 👍 thanks for your content, always informative and engaging ❤️
As a black women i HATE false eyelashes on us. In my opinion it looks so tacky but I will say individual eyelashes I’ve seen aren’t too bad and can be chic if done properly and correctly 🤙🏾💁🏾♀️💁🏾♀️… Great video BTW ♥️
I totally agree about the scalp scrubs and expensive brushes. Same thing happened to me with the scrub, did not dissolve and had it in my hair for days. i'm guilty of buying a $150 hair brush as as a celebrity was raving about it. Total waste of money. Never again. Thanks sweetie for remind us not to waste our time, money and energy on things we don't need. xxoo
Love this series, such a nice counterbalance 🤩 Getting rid of the eyelash curler is such a privilege I will never know lol bc I have straight, downward pointing lashes
I love your little brush holder. Can you share what it is? Also, I’m sure you’ve mentioned why you love that morphie x Ariel a14 but it would be fun to hear you do a dedicated brush video where you talk though your current favorites. (And love when there are brushes like the a14 you have loved and used for ages)
Ok so those reviews on Beautylish almost got me... I went back and forth over that Smith Brush for weeks because of them. I am so glad that I listened to you and not the reviews! The brush is not poky at all! It has become my favorite brush of all time! Seriously the most perfect application for cream bronzer. I just pulled the trigger on the Rephr 04 brush because that Smith brush was such a good recommendation!
I hear you on the liquid bronzer, BUT.. the bare minerals is actually perfect for underpainting! I go ham on my bare face, then concealer, a little foundation to buff it all together and it’s the most gorgeous natural tanned look. I get so many compliments on my skin when I do this
I am glad to say that we are 100 % aligned, Allana! I never use eyelash curlers ( I tried a couple of times), but not for me. I've never worn any kind of lashes. Quite frankly, they scare me lol, plus yes I was blessed with very long lashes. I also have bought brush cleaners and never use them! Just some mild shampoo like you said & I'm good to go. I stopped buying brush sets, too, bc it's just easier to find individual ones that you actually need. I use the hair/scalp brush with shampooing bc the scrubs do the same thing to me. Hair brush for $100 😖🧐my oh my...heck no! I'll stick to my regular brushes that do the same thing. Now, I must go watch yesterday's video bc I was on a field trip with my little girl to the Erie Canal ( which was a great time :) & missed EVERYDAYMAY 🥹. Love this video series! There are just so many products that they push now that just aren't needed. However, I also love me a good GRWM using some new products 😊. You are always so on point, Lan. Take care xoxo 😘 🤗
Love the deinfluencing, Lan. I'm 100% over strip lashes. I have hooded eyes, and they don't suit me. I also never purchased full-coverage foundation, I prefer using skin tints, a bit of concealer, or a tinted sunscreen. 🥰
Allana I really appreciate this discussion, I am very guilty of wanting to jump on every bandwagon of the new. I am trying to stop myself as many times I already have the same products from a different brand, namely recently bronzing drops, we do not need them all.
So on with your deep brush cleansers and eyelash curler… but girl for a brown a girl like me with dark circles… Bobbi brown correctors are life saving! True, over packing under eye does give wrinkly aged look…but tiny bit, makes the magic!
Fully agree about the eyelash curler!! I don’t think they are necessary for everyone. I have wonky eyelashes to begin with- curling them puts me in circus territory
You are so right on many of these items and practices. I, too, never fell for the lasher curler in my 30$ years of make up application. And I feel the same way about cleaning my brushes, just seems a bit gimmicky for me. Like why pay so much money for a particular cleanser when there just so many other options that can perform effectively and efficiently? I have to comment that you’re being smart and frugal with the changes you are implementing. Plus, it’s a great way to encourage others in saving their hard earned cash! Great content, keep sharing chick!
Big agree on all but the lash curler, I need mine for my stubs 😂 my friend wears strip lashes almost every day and has since high school! I stopped a few years ago and feel so much more confident. I was like like “these just don’t look right on me”. I feel ya. Some things I’ve stopped purchasing are self tanner, actual foundation, and nail polish because they just sit and rot :/ too lazy to tan or try new nail shades, I’m a soft-pink nail gal. And I just use a tint or a touch up. Can’t stand the feeling of foundation anymore! I splurged using points at ulta for the Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint (per your req) and I love love loveee it.
No to the lash curler…totally agree. I use my pinky finger when you first apply while it’s still wet and it does wonders to curl. I got the best hair brush for $4 at Walgreens. This was so fun and helpful Alana
My smith brush (which I got because of you in 2021 or 2022) has never failed me. Is my daily bronzer brush and it’s not poky. Idk if they changed it since then but…. I love it. I remember when you first mentioned it and bought it as soon as they restocked it. Loooooovvveeeeeeee it.
I have never even tried eyelash curler, I would probably hurt myself 😅 plus I have very sensitive eyes, so I don’t ever buy eyeliners either, eyeshadow is enough for me. I don’t buy liquid foundation or really liquid anything, except for concealer, I have oily skin and mineral foundations is it for me, the same goes for bronzer and blush, prefer mineral or pressed. Also agree with you on the makeup brush sets, I rather pick and choose only those I would actually use, and with my small face the giant powder brushes are an automatic no. I enjoy my curated makeup and brush collection and try no to buy unnecessary things, that will only give my anxiety taking over space in my makeup bag. Too much of anything can become overwhelming very quickly. I have to say, I enjoy your videos, and the everyday ones in May are a perfect companion for the morning coffee 😊 Have an amazing day ❤
a case for the $100 hair brush (i have a mason pearson): they are the best. simply, the best. they last forever. you never replace them. you get insane compliments on your hair, and it is essential for hair health. grab a mason pearson. you'll never look back. it's a one and done kind of purchase. i just bought my niece her first mason pearson--i'm hooked!
I totally agree with the eyelash curler. I already have quite a curl to my lashes so I have stopped buying them. The same goes for big brush collections, I’ve got my favourite face brushes and I prefer small eye brushes so there’s not a collection out there for me. I have never used false eye lashes ( strip lashes ) and I think that they have a tendency to take over a look. Thanks for the deinfluensing session! 💕
Generally, I’m just not buying anything new unless I’ve used up the product it is replacing. And even then, I almost always buy an exact replacement because I can’t be bothered to try something new and not like it
Never cared about using an eyelash curler till I was pregnant last year. Always had nice and lifted lashes, but since then they not only went straight but now droop down! Never thought I’d be the person to use a curler and waterproof mascara just to hold my lashes up, but here I am 😅
Omg! You brought me on to the tarte under eye corrector and it has been a dream! Have been using it for years and still love it 😂🙈. Sorry to hear that you do not use it anymore but appreciative that you introduced me to it :)
Something I would LOVE to see is a full face of your favorite makeup from the golden age of UA-cam AKA the 2015’s glam!!! What does 2024 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐀 think of 2015 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐀’s choices??
Love this! It’s nit that I mind influencing, I just wish people recommended the products when they are halfway through the bottle. I would trust it more than after 1st 30 seconds 😅
Hi Allana! Been enjoying EDM so much! ❤ I was wondering if you would do a video on different eyeliner styles you like. Like your classic Smokey, the thin wing you wore on the last video, etc.
Lan I agree with this entire list for much the same reasons. I really loved this series. It would be great to see the list revisited in 6 months or a year to see if the list remains the same or there've been changes/additions. Loving #EDM shout out from Spain
I just use Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo when I do a deep clean for my makeup brushes and beauty blenders. If I get a set that comes with the cleaner, I’ll use it, but I don’t actively seek it out.
Your no-buy list makes total sense, appreciate your reasoning through all of them. I was thinking the same thing about those super expensive hair brushes! How different could they be from a good ol' drugstore brush?
“Clinique sun kissed face gelee” is an amazing summer/sport liquid bronzer tho if you’re active. It’s a gel-stain. Like a Benetint but a bit more forgiving. I blend in with a brush but fingers work. I feel like I can wear it to the gym with mascara and it’s perfect.
You should try the Kiss press on falsies!!! They are little lash clusters you just press on with an applicator they give you- no glue and stay all day! I could NEVER make strip lashes work and the press ons literally changed my life!!
I'd like to see your brush collection. And anything drugstore or affordable (that doesn't require shipping cost). Please show me what things are good at an affordable cost.
I love love love these videos! I went through and era of buying influencer co-labs, mostly eye shadow, and I rarely wear eyeshadow, and one palette of neutrals could last me for a verrrrrrry long time. So I’m left with this decision of do I just swallow my cheap pride and get rid of them, or just keep plugging away at using them up?! Regardless, I’ve been on a use up what I have run for a long time. It’s very satisfying every time I use something up. One thing I’m guilty of buying too much of, aside from eyeshadow, that I don’t need is blush and foundation or tinted moisturizer. Just can’t find a perfect one for me so I keep trying!
The Smyth brush is pokey but I do like it. I just got the A14 because of your recommendation and I hate it! It leaves crazy brush lines! I don’t know if it’s because it’s new but it’s much easier just to use my fingers than the brush.
Brush cleaners, yes to shampoo but the exception, for me anyway, is ISOCLEAN (a spray on instant cleaner that removes cream makeup so much quicker and easier than shampoo / any liquid brush cleanser). Never got to grips with eyelash curlers or lash stripes either!
Listen, I don’t disagree with any items mentioned (in general). But I do not regret purchasing a Mason Pearson brush. Feels ah-mazing on my sensitive scalp and they’re known to last literally decades. Cost per use makes sense.
I never buy powder bronzers or highlights anymore. I haven’t been buying many powder blushes either- I have a couple still but I haven’t bought any for almost a full year. I find cream cheek products work so much better on my skin, are not patchy, and just wear so nicely and are so forgiving on my skin.
Lash curler doesn’t work on me either. However I find that s-curler from shu emura is great for pressing individual lashes. They get better grip with this one.
omg i was the one that asked about the smith brush 😅 thanks for mentioning because the videos move so fast and comments get lost/ignored if you dont post them the same day you post the video. ok so saw a few comments here and most of them where on they pokey side 😂 so .... i am torn 😅 also agree about brush sets but that ariel one is amazing!!! i use every single one of them except one i havent used YET! i even use the sponge girl! plus i love most of my brushes to look the same 🤪
Hahah so funny how some of the things you said are my holy grails! I COULD NEVER part ways with my eyelash curlers being a straight lash gal and I wear the bobbi brown corrector on a daily instead of concealer!
I totally agree with the point about brush sets . As a regular makeup consumer I’ve never had the need to use more than 6 brushes tops . I have absolutely no need to buy those huge bush sets 😂😂😂 Would be a great gift to a makeup artist tho.
I do not like liquid bronzers either, but that makeup by mario is sooooo good, i have the cream pan as well and they are very very similar. Just obsessed with everything he creates
I love my lash curler! I use the Shu Uemura one. It curls my long lashes perfectly and gives a wide-eye look. But I get that they aren’t for everyone. 😊
I have the crown affair brush 😅 BUT HEAR ME OUT I have oily, silkier hair and the boar bristles help disperse the oil really well. I think bc I was only using a wet brush then introduced this one, it felt like such a difference on dry hair. There are def less expensive bristle brushes on the market, I just got this one as a fun little treat during a milestone - but yes it’s ridiculous 😂 love your video as always!! ❤
Am I the only one who noticed her readjusting the camera a number of times? 😭 I think she does it a final time at 16:29 😭😂 it just made me laugh bc I was like what!?
Oh my! Are you an angel? Lovely glow and outfit ✨️ 😍 sorry but I have to say I can't live without my eyelash curler. 😅 I agree for the undereye corrector, they add layer and cakiness that I don't need! You need to try BK brushes though, they're so so amazing 👏 🤩
Yep I agree on the hair brush! And listen I try every under eye correct I can get my hands on grabbing the Huda today and I’ll let you know if a wonder comes out. Lol. Love waking up to your videos!❤
OMG!!!! I got the Smith 157 on your recommendation and it SHEDS like nobody's business! I had to stop using it because it just left blonde hairs all over my face!! I would have loved it otherwise! I was so upset!
Liquid products in general, so hard to use! I got rid of Nars and Rare Beauty Blushers and Im on the Westman and Merit train of cream products in a stick form! They are so easy to blend! Never again buying anything liquid q
I've recently come to the conclusion that my eyelashes do better when I don't use an eyelash curler. I have always used an eyelash curler so this was a bit of a surprise for me when I randomly didn't curl my lases one day and it looked better. My hair is very stubborn whether that be the hair on my head or my eyelashes so I always thought I needed the eyelash curler. A product that I was influenced to but was an eyeshadow primer. I don't know if this is the case for every eyeshadow primer but the one I have always makes my eyeshadows patchy in areas even when I am setting it with something before going into my eyeshadow. I bought it so I keep using it hoping I will find the magical way to use it but it hasn't happened yet so I have a feeling once I use up what I have I won't but anymore.
Great video! To answer your question: I don't buy (or wear) makeup and don't use/buy makeup brushes, brush cleaners, etc. I also don't wear nail polish so I don't own/buy polish or polish remover. 🤷
Love these videos. I too find myself overwhelmed with excess. Been decluttering and simplifying and it feels so good!
I love simplifying everything, as someone who is constantly overwhelmed, it’s the best way🤩🤩🤩
Liquid and cream blush… or blusher if you’re from the UK, as I am. (Although my Scouse/Liverpudlian Nana always called it Rouge and had a cardboard Bourjois specimen of rosebud powder peachy pink ca.1952, which she wore every day until she passed in 2003.). Groupon also has them for less.
I second this. The Pearson hair brush stimulates the scalp and leaves the softest hair. I’ve had mine for 10 years.

The best brush cleanser I've ever used is dish soap. It works like magic because it's made to get rid of fat and oils but you have to use the tiniest bit and/or rinse them very well
Dawn specifically - removes everything. I have brushes ten years old that are perfect still and look new
Blue dawn dish soap for brushes and beauty blenders! Excellent degreaser and cleanser. Removes foundation from beauty blender sooooo well!
I’m such a fan of deinfluencing when it’s real, thought out videos like this and not just clickbait. I also love shop my stash because it’s real life!
Deinfluencing - the addicting act of living life better. Thank you for your "influence" to try a better way to embrace what I have.

I am barely listening to what you are saying ! I am mesmerized by the flawlessness of your makeup 😵💫😍
Hey Allana! Can you do an updated everyday jewelry collection? Your rings and bracelets are so pretty.
100% agree with brush sets. Fantastic for starting out and finding what you like but after that not needed
Love these deinfluencing videos!!! So realistic!
I totally agree about the scalp scrubs and expensive brushes. Same thing happened to me with the scrub, did not dissolve and had it in my hair for days. i'm guilty of buying a $150 hair brush as as a celebrity was raving about it. Total waste of money. And the laura mercier moisturizer bronzer is my favorite. When you apply it with a smaller dense brush it’s super easy and very natural ❤
I use it every day! Tiny amount, I don’t wear any foundation so it just adds a nice fun bronze glow….
So on with your deep brush cleansers and eyelash curler… but girl for a brown a girl like me with dark circles… Bobbi brown correctors are life saving! True, over packing under eye does give wrinkly aged look…but tiny bit, makes the magic!
Always appreciate the deinfluencing!
I, too, never got in to wearing strip lashes. I also wash by sponges and brushes with soap or shampoo...and they work! ♡
The lighting and aesthetics in this video are ✨✨✨😍 love love love it
I use baby shampoo for brushes and sponges etc. Gentle but effective. They're cheap and the wait/drying time isn't too bad.
Fully agree about the eyelash curler!! I don’t think they are necessary for everyone. I have wonky eyelashes to begin with- curling them puts me in circus territory

These are like beauty confessions. I’m with you on all of these, including deep cleaning my brushes basically never. 😂
absolutely loved this, and truly a cream makeup girly these days, it is just elite 😌

100% agree with that🙌 best purchase ever!!!
I love these videos Allana because it also allows me to simplify and basically declutter. ❤❤❤
I definitely agree about the hair scrubs. And I was a sucker for the Mason Pearson brush. I like my Amazon brush much more.
Scalp cleansing oils are where it’s at with a double shampoo after, makes a huge difference! Scrubs just ruin your scalp in my experience
Love this video and series idea! Do you have a breakdown video of the brushes you use?
I’m not buying anything! lol I’m attempting to use up the items I have before purchasing new ones. ❤️ loved this video!
Great video! Would you consider doing a video showing your curated brushes that you use now?
Try an aquafor stick under the eye under concealer! It supposedly helps creasy under eyes!
I always used a regular shampoo after the scalp scrub. You can also skip body scrubs and dry brush!
Where is your watch from? I would love a video on how you mix metal jewelry! Thank you for the clothing, make up, and health tips!
Dish soap works so well for cleaning makeup brushes!!
I agree with the comb and brush, I saw those on Sephora as well and thought they were cute, especially the comb, but my money will go elsewhere 😂
I don’t know if it’s because it’s new but it’s much easier just to use my fingers than the brush.
loving this background ... It is somehow very fresh
Omg all of these I agree with! Especially the brush shampoo. I just use dawn dish soap and it works wonders!
Listen, I don’t disagree with any items mentioned (in general). But I do not regret purchasing a Mason Pearson brush. Feels ah-mazing on my sensitive scalp and they’re known to last literally decades. Cost per use makes sense.
I use dawn dish soap for my makeup brushes. it’s gentle for the ducks and it removes everything.
No more foundation for me! I used a tinted sunscreen, or I've been LOVING the Chanel Water Fresh Tint if I want to feel extra special or glowy.
You reminded me that I really need to deep clean my brushes 😅 I just use a shower oil from the drugsture, which works great 😊
I love my lash curler!
I think Dejan left them in for funsies haha but I was battling with the sun coming in and out of the clouds 😅😅
@@allanaramaa lol I love that! It was indeed fun 😂 12 points for both Dejan and you
I WAS JUST GONNA COMMENT THIS. For a second I was like am I seeing things or is Allana playing with us!!??😂😂🫶🏼
I use my lash curler only on special occasions 😜
I blimming love this series! 👏
Eyelash curlers are a MUST if you’re Asian and have straight lashes
Fully agree about eyelash curlers!
Liquid products in general, so hard to use! I got rid of Nars and Rare Beauty Blushers and Im on the Westman and Merit train of cream products in a stick form! They are so easy to blend! Never again buying anything liquid q
Lash curler def out for me also. Always!!
Wet brushes are the best and I don’t think I’ve ever paid more that $10 for them. $100 is CRAZY
Great video!
To answer your question:
I don't buy (or wear) makeup and don't use/buy makeup brushes, brush cleaners, etc. I also don't wear nail polish so I don't own/buy polish or polish remover. 🤷
