The show is great but you can tell they have been lazy integrating the overall game experience. It’s literally been the same since the show 18. RTTS was perfectly fine the way it is. All they had to do was add High School and real College teams that's it. Cut scenes are okay making your MLB debut, first all-star game, etc keep those. If it's not broke don't fix it.
Me personally don’t care about a narrative. There is so many possibilities in ways you could use contract money. All I really want is to make that big contract actually beneficial and worth something
I agree it ruins the immersion of RTTS. Grinding it out and improving your player over time was integral to the mode. This approach seems gimmicky and likely just a way to monetize it further. I almost exclusively play RTTS and now regret my pre-order.
You couldve fooled me with these graphics! Im sitting here thinking this was being shown on previous gen ... little to no graphical upgrades at all lmao
Agreed it looks disappointing. Hopefully it'll be smoother animation and frame rate wise and not make you pick between that and minor improvement in graphics lol.
SDS: "We've made fielding and pitching better, added tons of animations, given you create a stadium, new legends and a bunch more! Me: "Awesome! What about RTTS though?" SDS: "We completely fucked it up... Now, hand over that $70 dollars!"
I like the whole radio talk show idea, it reminds me of when the FIFA World Cup 2014 game had it where you could chose a radio station and it would have two people talk about how your country/team was doing and what’s going on with other countries/teams as well, it adds to the immersion of its done well
@@Emmdotfrisk I was just thinking Tony Bruno, the last time I enjoyed Madden franchise.. god, 07? I want to say. It can be good so we'll see how it turns out and frankly anything more they can add to RTTS will help as the mode is stagnant to say the least.
A following/fan base for your player, different game experiences with every ball club and more media/PR and career involvement could make the mode go a long way. Even recruiting other players/having a voice in the front office once you’re established could take this game over the top
I just wish they would keep track of and make a bigger deal of breaking records. Break hr record and there's no comment about it. 30 game hitting streak and you just get a hit streak counter that sometimes shows at beginning of game. Have some cut scenes or commentary making big deals about these things.
That’s part of what ruined mycareer in 2k for me. I wasn’t going to buy VC to upgrade my player, and I just didn’t care enough to grind 100 hours to be good. At least in the older RTTS you could still be good without devoting your life to the game
I KNOW I’m so mad because I have to wait for a turn to play rtts 20 on my sisters ps4 and then I was hyped because all I played was rtts and it came out on Xbox but then they absolutely ripped it to pieces and threw out the window
yeah that's what it sounds like. The loadouts change your archetype which will enable you to play different positions. "Your ballplayer can do it all." That's what I was saying about immersion.
@@Emmdotfrisk right and I just feel like they lost one big aspect of road to the show while adding to another. Your player is more versatile and you can switch things up but it no longer feels like a somewhat realistic player career which is what I really enjoyed
@@Emmdotfrisk I mean it’s a simple gesture but just create the immersion on your own.. you’re not forced into playing multiple positions if you don’t want to. You could also be a utility player now which is immersive, fill the gaps in your squad. Unlike before where you could be drafted to NY Yankees for example as a LF/RF taking Aaron judge/Stantons spot in the big leagues while either ride the bench on their mega contracts... talk about immersion breaking. Now if that happens, you could “pretend” you got reassigned to the middle infield/outfield as a utility player and takeover the spot of the lowest overall or fill in for an injured guy.. that’s how real baseball works
And sure being able to pitch one game and play a position the next game is unrealistic BUT you could make it realistic by starting as a position player then switching to a pitcher permanently at some point. Real example: Trevor Rosenthal- he started as a catcher in low A ball and turned into a pitcher when he was on the verge of being cut/ made it to the big leagues as a dominant closer. So many possibilities for content creators. Honestly this goes for any sports games: the more control/customization the game gives you, the more realistic you can make it. Like NBA myLeague how you can control CPU rosters- approve/deny trades so shit doesn’t get out of hand with unrealistic immersion breaking trades/rosters. Downloading rosters every new season so you don’t get a bunch of random ass players with purple hair and green mustaches 99 overalls appearing. I player lock in NBA 2k my league instead of my player mode for those couple reasons and I put a max limit of 90 overall on the player I control so I don’t ever get OP. I also have been player locking in MLB the past couple years due to that type of stuff
@@Deepblue417Agreed. One of the biggest annoyances of previous years RTTS is how your players takes the place of the big names in the game that you want your players to play alongside of, so that will be cool having the ability to get them back in the lineup. @@andrew18wowz maybe it’s cuz I haven’t played RTTS since The Show 14, but it definitely wasn’t pay to win back then. You’d get a 99 OVR player after 1 season in the bigs.
rtts is ruined for me, why put time into those cringe podcast video cutscenes, why not add way more animations for home runs, walk offs, more immersive post season animations, camera replays for home runs. Better the crowd reactions make them louder more responsive to big moments especially in the post season. etc. maybe add the ability to change things like the in game score HUD to a classic one from back in the day idk
I thought about this too! But it wouldnt work. What if one person quits ? And then you have to have at least 5-6 pitchers (a starter and relievers). And many more factors come in to play, that shit would be dope as hell tho if they could pull it up but they cant even get rtts correct lol
I probably play RTTS 50% to 75% of the time and they better not ruin it, It could ruin the whole game for me. Really hope there’s some sort of update on the drafting and scouting part of RTTS. It’s way too easy to just get drafted 1st overall, and each player I make feels like the same thing over and over
I like a little pre career thing. Like the showcase wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t bad. And why don’t contracts go toward skill points make them mean something
I was hoping current and next gen would both be getting everything this year at least. But since this isnt true I definitely need to get a next gen console for next years game
I don't play Diamond Dynasty, just not interested in that, WHY can't it just stay the same? I really enjoy RTTS in '20 but this almost makes me not want to buy the game if I'm not going to be able to have my fantasy freak of nature player
What I would also like is different fresh animations ;presentation ;new commentary and a choice when playing RTS to have another camera choice if we want instead of the always 1 st person type backwards camera that they always have. Also if your player is a switch hitter let me decide which side if I want to instead of them doing it. As they said we want to let the user have more choices but which ones !!!
Still not impressed to this day. Will need to wait for the franchise/March to October video release but so far, I'm not leaning towards buying the game. It feels their main focus this year is getting the xbox users on board and I feel the game authenticity starts to fade
Same game for damn near 2 decades. I’ll still buy it this year for the roster update but it’s only the 2nd show I’ve bought in the last 4 years because it doesn’t change. I’ve read countless comments and the majority are not too happy. Podcast? Wtf? What a waste. Who is making these decisions because they need to bring in some new people with better ideas
I never understood the same damn game sentiment for a couple of reasons. 1: it’s a sports game and there isn’t much flexibility you have in the core gameplay mechanics. 2: The MLB (NFL or NBA) doesn’t want to a bad light shown on their leagues so they limit the studios flexibility. 3: the Studios themselves want to sell the game every year, so they purposefully make sure not to release the best possible game. As someone that grew up with Madden games and only recently switched to The Show. You guys are lucky as hell, this is the best sports series out there releasing games today
@@iandarling7117 Correction. Was. Now this will stoop to the same lowest common denominator set by EA and 2K. Hell, I'd even argue that PGA 2K is the best sports game out there. It ONLY has a battle pass. None of this pay to be the best out of the gate crap. Granted that was 2K's first year with HB Studios so lets see if they fail in the same ways NBA has later this year.
If this is why they got rid of Year to Year saves they can keep it, I'll just keep playing '20. If I want to pitch AND hit I literally have a pitcher and hitter save in RTTS since 2014. There's only one 2 way in MLB and that's Ohtani it's not like there was some huge culture change in MLB that ought to be reflected in the game. It's like they copied the worst parts of 2k MyPlayer instead of the better parts.
I'm not feeling this at all. Short of this being a freebie through PS Plus, I most likely won't be bothering with this. I only play for RTTS and have done so since 2012. I genuinely LOVED how they had Year to Year Saves so that you could carry over your player without ever starting from scratch. You never truly lost money with a new game dropping. This is no longer the case. I also loved the ability to import custom tunes to really personalize the game. When they took those two things out of 21, I was DONE. If they revert back to what it was in 20, I have no problem getting 22, but this doesn't feel likely.
Oh god idk if I like this for RTTS to be honest. Kinda scary to see. But it's The Show so I'm definitely giving them a shot. I feel like they've earned this much.
Am I the only one that is cool with the way character customization has been for the last couple games, but I rlly want for RTTS is more story or just A story besides, getting drafted in the 15th round , fly through the minors, debut in the majors and then nothing else cool happens besides your first ASG and WS win. I get DD is the most popular mode in the game but.......these guys either need to lift DD out of the inconsistent pattern of one year it’s a pay to win and one year it’s u gotta grind for days for a couple cards, or focus on making the other modes like RTTS or Franchise more enjoyable. I legit feel like I’ve been playin the same Show for years and they’ve done nothing to better the game overall, all they do is reveal new legends every year and get everyone all hyped up for some shitty new mode that nobody asked for. I hope the guys at SDS prove me wrong cuz baseball is gods chosen sport and as a die hard fan of the game I will happily fork over 60 plus tax.
@@Emmdotfrisk right? It would fit into the game. I feel like this is gonna take me out of the experience. Besides MtO it's gonna be the only real video in the game. I hope that means Sean Casey will be in the game. Had big moments for my Tigers in the 06 Playoffs
Cutscenes? Hmmmmm. Sounds good and dandy, to a fault. If they're going to do that, then why not use other media sources, especially if your player is like a "superstar". On my Road to The Show series, I make mock news articles when my player reaches a milestone, or when my player's team wins the World Series. Oh, and the problem with using other baseball talkers like Fuzzy, and GiraffeneckMark is that they are not real sports writers and just have a UA-cam channel, not to mention the Copyright regulations it'll create and just be a problem for UA-cam.
Honestly reconsidering this installment for this obvious money grab..... I do not play DD because frankly I suck at this game. I like putting it on easy and having fun in RTTS. If I go online everyone can beat me and I am fine with that. I loved this game because I like baseball, and the single player is fun. If I have to compete with real life people, I will just lose and it will take the fun out of it. Even though RTTS still is single player the fact that they are just money grabbing for this means my guy is more then likely just gonna suck, like me, and it will be no fun.... Might have to cancel my preorder.
Man just add more story to it like if you’re going through a slump have them talk about it in mlb cut scenes or if you have good game or hot streak don’t do these perks make me chose what player I gotta be again
I'm actually happy with the changes not nessicarly the archetype loadouts but I am glad we can earn stubs and packs in RTTS because tbh I don't like diamond Dynasty and didnt like the fact I had to play it to earn packs or cards Judy to turn around and sell them on the market
Loadouts? Oh my god this is horrible. I didn’t think they could actually make it worse. This is devastating. The only sports game left has been ruined like the rest.
I skipped on 20 to get hyped for next gen and I gotta say I don't really like what I'm seeing. This new style RTTS looks terrible, the graphics look the same so I'm paying $90 for stadium creator? Heck, 20 is on sale for $6. I might just go with that.
Really looking forward to the loadout system! We saw how much of a game changer it was to have multiple squads in DD and now not being locked into a player build should make Ballplayers more interesting to keep iterating on. Especially if more powerful equipment items become available throughout the year as a part of live content. Maybe not ideal for pure RTTS players but lots of little options for SDS to make a big impact.
Last time I played The Show was on PS3, and have been waiting years for it to come to Xbox only to see RTTS not only fail to progress, but rather it's downgraded with little to no core improvements whatsoever. What an absolute disappointment, thank you for the video though, saved me $60.
SO few details on player creation and how the progression "stuff" works. Was it just me, or did Ramone seem hyped in a fake way for these segments? I mean, the dude has always been chill; I didn't see him relaxed at ALL this go around. I guess I am OK with the ballplayer meta, but I also like creating different guys just to mix things up, so not sure how much "loadout" will get used by me. It's cool, but like others here, I smell a wiff of pay-to-play movement in the whole Show meta. Not good. We don't need another Wargaming in the industry. Of course life is nothing but "all about the money" so when your options are limited, what choice do we have other than not playing? Stinks.
There’s just so much better things they can add to this game but they just choose to go another route this new rtts stuff is a bummer they can do so much better with this game
I absolutely hate the new Road to the Show. I only got into MLB the Show at the end of the PS3 era and even though I liked the game I never really played anything but exhibition games. I was too busy playing NBA 2k. I finally dusted off my old PS3 and started to play around with my old copy of MLB the Show 15 and liked it even though I still didn't play much. This was last year and my first time playing Road to the Show. I went with the Xbox One for my last-gen console so I had no access to MLB on the current-gen until last year and everything was different. I'm not a fan of games as a service or online play at all. I don't like virtual card games or trophy hunting to unlock things in my sports games. I just want to play said sport, level up through GAMES and TRAINING drills, and earn skill points to add to my player's attributes. Keep it simple people. If I was a kid now I couldn't even get into some of the sports games today. I understand you want to make money but keep that for the people that want to play online and level up quickly to beat their friends. But give the casual fan like me a simple base game that I can still enjoy without having to deal with the petty online card collecting, and trophy hunting world. I don't want to be an online virtual athlete beating other people online that I don't even know. I just want to play baseball in the comfort of my living room and beat my cousin when he comes over or enjoy a sim career mode without paying money.

RTTS was perfectly fine the way it is. All they had to do was add High School and real College teams that's it. Cut scenes are okay making your MLB debut, first all-star game, etc keep those. If it's not broke don't fix it.
Im sick of all this mut and dynasty bs
They will always find a way to make some fool pay
Me personally don’t care about a narrative. There is so many possibilities in ways you could use contract money. All I really want is to make that big contract actually beneficial and worth something
Yes thank you
They 2k'd it up. I'll give it a try this year, but if it's just like 2k this will be the last Show game I will buy.
I’m not even going to buy it lmao
I’m good with 20 it’s pretty fun
I agree it ruins the immersion of RTTS. Grinding it out and improving your player over time was integral to the mode. This approach seems gimmicky and likely just a way to monetize it further. I almost exclusively play RTTS and now regret my pre-order.
Why would you ever pre order? That’s one of the dumbest things to do
You couldve fooled me with these graphics!
What about RTTS though?"
SDS: "We completely fucked it up...
Now, hand over that $70 dollars!"
SDS:”Oh did we mention all the good shit’s only gonna be for the new gen consoles?”
I like the whole radio talk show idea, it reminds me of when the FIFA World Cup 2014 game had it where you could chose a radio station and it would have two people talk about how your country/team was doing and what’s going on with other countries/teams as well, it adds to the immersion of its done well
ahh yeah that's a good reference. Tony Bruno radio!!!
Oh, so they’re monitizing road to the show. Well shit. It was fun while it lasted.
Ikr
This was my thought as well. Extremely disappointed with the changes.
That’s part of what ruined mycareer in 2k for me. I wasn’t going to buy VC to upgrade my player, and I just didn’t care enough to grind 100 hours to be good. At least in the older RTTS you could still be good without devoting your life to the game
Man, rtts used to be so cool, I miss how you’d just upgrade by playing well at specific aspects in your game
If you rake when playing out in the field but then suck at hitting when you pitch that is going to break immersion for me. Just because of a loadout
The more I learn about this game the more I'm wanting to get my money back I was so excited for it I pre ordered it and now I don't even wanna play it
I finally have the chance to play this game being on Xbox and they destroyed rtts 😠
Right?? I was so excited and now I’m just fucking pissed.
Who tf thought that loadouts was a good idea lol it’s actually funny
I think it’s cool
I KNOW I’m so mad because I have to wait for a turn to play rtts 20 on my sisters ps4 and then I was hyped because all I played was rtts and it came out on Xbox but then they absolutely ripped it to pieces and threw out the window
So you can just change what type of player you are from day to day in road to the show? Kind of losing most of the sim aspect of it
yeah that's what it sounds like.
I just wish they integrated high school or college ball to your players rise to the MLB.
So it feels like they are doing a mix between 2k and NHL’s eashl
You'd think with the next gen systems they'd finally fix the grass and dirt, it's one of the last things that desperately need an upgrade.
Yea... it to me looks like the same game.. No real improvements
@@shankwititent Been that way since like 2017 to be honest. They're slowly getting to that madden level and I'm sure it's just gonna get worse, especially now that they have to develop for 2 systems. I'm happy for the Xbox guys they finally get to play a great baseball game but I'm sure it's gonna fuck it all up
Just commentated the same, no excuse for the grass still looking blurry, they can't be serious with this end product.
Looks like they are setting it up for pay to win. Makes me sad. RTTS was one of the few game modes left that you actually had to play the game to improve. Now it seems like you'll be able to just buy stubs and make your player better.
yeppppp, RTTS is pay to win now
Back in the day rtts was pay to win too
You dont have to pay to win
@@andrew18wowz maybe it’s cuz I haven’t played RTTS since The Show 14, but it definitely wasn’t pay to win back then. You’d get a 99 OVR player after 1 season in the bigs.
@BARRYBONDS SF Giants lol ok Barry Bonds 😂😂😂
rtts is ruined for me, why put time into those cringe podcast video cutscenes, why not add way more animations for home runs, walk offs, more immersive post season animations, camera replays for home runs. Better the crowd reactions make them louder more responsive to big moments especially in the post season. etc. maybe add the ability to change things like the in game score HUD to a classic one from back in the day idk
it would be better if it was like a newspaper not a podcast

The “load out” system is garbage do they think players choose how they want to play before each game ?
I just want road to the show to be a storyline and you get to play in college
Make a sandlot mode where we can take our RTTS player & play w 9 other users vs other RTTS users online...custom teams & customs leagues
Nah fr
I thought about this too! But it wouldnt work. What if one person quits ? And then you have to have at least 5-6 pitchers (a starter and relievers). And many more factors come in to play, that shit would be dope as hell tho if they could pull it up but they cant even get rtts correct lol
RTTS is completely ruined now, they changed literally everything that was good about this mode
i never got why the perks
can we just gain overall points by the way you play
I like the radio broadcast stuff. Everything else? Can't really tell yet, as this would be my first "Road To The Show" since I'm an XBox player.
I probably play RTTS 50% to 75% of the time and they better not ruin it, It could ruin the whole game for me.
I want to know if I can transfer my current rtts character over from ps4 to ps5 or will it forever be stuck in the previous generation. i have a guy from mlb the show 2016 i still play with, he is 42 yrs old and broke every hitting record.
Nope
Loadouts? Mlb the show:moden warfare ?
This is sad. I loved the grind of RTTS.
Every game and especially every promotion was amazing!
I'm cool with all of this except the loadouts. Loadouts sound cool but you should be able to max everything if you grind hard enough.
Really hope there’s some sort of update on the drafting and scouting part of RTTS. It’s way too easy to just get drafted 1st overall, and each player I make feels like the same thing over and over
They need Tony Bruno quality radio show (Madden 06)
Oh the memories
I like a little pre career thing. Like the showcase wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t bad. And why don’t contracts go toward skill points make them mean something
All I asked for was for my shoes to be the proper color way.
Wow I was so excited for rtts as an Xbox guy but now it sounds like the opposite of what I want
I was hoping current and next gen would both be getting everything this year at least. But since this isnt true I definitely need to get a next gen console for next years game
im not really a rtts guy but i might try it out looks exciting
that's cool! What do you like about it?
@@Emmdotfrisk why are they ruining everything for current
@@Emmdotfrisk current gen isn’t getting improvements at all

im new this year (xbox) i also wanna try it
Wait is rtts different on current gen or Bc that’s wack if it is
Does your players height effect the number of strikes that are thrown to you since a bigger player would have a bigger strike zone?
I don't play Diamond Dynasty, just not interested in that, WHY can't it just stay the same? I really enjoy RTTS in '20 but this almost makes me not want to buy the game if I'm not going to be able to have my fantasy freak of nature player
Tbh I might just play 20 on my ps5 and get mlb the show 22
What I would also like is different fresh animations ;presentation ;new commentary and a choice when playing RTS to have another camera choice if we want instead of the always 1 st person type backwards camera that they always have. Also if your player is a switch hitter let me decide which side if I want to instead of them doing it. As they said we want to let the user have more choices but which ones !!!
I would love to put my face on the created player. Tiger Woods games used to do it.
Seems like it's going the 2K route possibly. IDK if I like this change but it could be good... Not gonna knock it till I try it.
All I hope is that they keep the old RTTS system but adding in the two-way player build. The new system would not be that good I think
I really was waiting for college
I'm not feeling this at all. Short of this being a freebie through PS Plus, I most likely won't be bothering with this. I only play for RTTS and have done so since 2012. I genuinely LOVED how they had Year to Year Saves so that you could carry over your player without ever starting from scratch.
You never truly lost money with a new game dropping. This is no longer the case. I also loved the ability to import custom tunes to really personalize the game. When they took those two things out of 21, I was DONE. If they revert back to what it was in 20, I have no problem getting 22, but this doesn't feel likely.
How to change the player's number if I don't like the number they gave me?
Still got shi on 2020 uncompleted.
Someone share with me how to beat the God Squad on Extreme moments.
I beat God Squad after this post 1-0.
Sweating bullets on my pitching
I find it hard to build your fucking stats when then they only give you a few plays a game unless your a pitcher then you can play a full game
Can you still have multiple road to the show saves and players? Or is it gonna be like madden or 2k where you can only have 1 per account
bro madden and 2k both you can have more than 1??😂
Road to the shoe, should be like 2k when you start in high school and work your self up
Assas you said what the changes were I was like wait that sound like NBA live and then you confirm I’m thinking like you no immersion.
Honestly wish the podcast was in the style of the game, not "live action"
I agree with this. That’s what I thought it was going to be when they were explaining “full motion”
@@Emmdotfrisk right? It would fit into the game. I feel like this is gonna take me out of the experience. Besides MtO it's gonna be the only real video in the game. I hope that means Sean Casey will be in the game. Had big moments for my Tigers in the 06 Playoffs
Why does this gameplay seem SUPER laggy
Good overview 🙏
thanks my man.
what happen if your RTTS player is aready a 2 way player in MLB the 20, what happens when you upload him in MLB21??
You can’t continue in 21 from previous years. Have to start over
I play rtts on mlb 11 the show and it sounds like a completely different game
Cutscenes?
I personally think the attribute progression and equipment was just fine. I don’t know I to feel about these changes.
Evolution is a good thing. Hopefully it is implemented well in RTTS
They should really add like cutscenes n free agency
All I want is a realistic mode where I really feel like the guy playing. The Show is going down the same horrible path as 2k did

What's up Dudefood! Yeah I have a feeling that DD guys are gonna like this alot.
@@Emmdotfrisk Yo yo! Looking forward to seeing if they can balance the best of both!
Last time I played The Show was on PS3, and have been waiting years for it to come to Xbox only to see RTTS not only fail to progress, but rather it's downgraded with little to no core improvements whatsoever. What an absolute disappointment, thank you for the video though, saved me $60.
Team records and playoff records please.
Stinks.
Don't like the two way player... just because what's the point of not doing a two way player?
If you put giraffeneckmarc in mlb the show I will never play it again
Lol
Sooooo...what you’re saying is MTO and Franchise is the move for us offline guys. Bet
