Your Aviary looks 1000% better. I found that a Bay bush is great in an aviary, it's used in cooking so its 100% safe for your birds if eaten. It has a thick wax leaf too which makes it difficult for you birds to chew all the leaves off and leave it bare. Well done nice clean healthy birds you own.
Hi Chris, loving the new video bud, aviary looks great with its new make over🖒the best bit is when the birds come out and see it for the first time, you can see them taking it all in,getting the feel for there new surroundings. Good good job bud👌🐦🐦
You made it more natural now . I have been wanting to tell you but it’s not for me to decide. As I though if it was mine I would put some plants and trees inside . 👍👍
Hi, I just finished building a large outdoor aviary for our budgies. What material would you recomend for a floor substrate. I'm in southern California about 20 miles inland from the coast.
@@doubleoseven4068 Hi I'd just place a weed supreser matting down on the soil , then place 4 inches of pea gravel on top. Very easy to keep clean with the waterhose and a garden rake. You could place chicken wire under the matting first before the gravel, if you think you might get vermin digging into the aviary.
Hey Chris I'm having a problem with one of my gouldians, so she has killed the cock after the eggs they had hatched (I wasn't aware of this) and she's been doing fine looking after the chicks herself there's only two of them but initially there was three but she threw one out which I fostered to the societys. Everything has been fine until now when the chicks have fledged she isn't feeding them and I'm not sure what to do.
@@birdnerd I've switched up location of the cage and has seemed to be doing the trick I think keeping her beside my societies cage was stressing her out so I put my societies beneath her and she's been doing good. Thanks for the reply!
My female zebra finch is chasing off the male finch. They all ready have 2 fledged babies and the female layed 2 eggs. And now she’s not letting the male inside. Should I separate the female or add a second nest?
In my aviary, there is no rocks just plain dirt. The way I clean it is I rake it really good then I water it. I soak it and the dirt acts like a filter. The poop goes straight down into the dirt and your dirt is clean again no smell!!
Love seeing birds enter and start exploring a new environment. Really looks as if their inquisitive about what everything is .. Great job Chris 👍🇬🇧
Thank you
Love the vid my Avairy needs a good clean and make over. Great tips and ideas 💡 Thankyou

Hi
What type of lighting do you use for your birds?
Thanks
I use LED lighting and also the birds get regular sun light in the aviary.
@@birdnerd so whilst you have them in your breeding cages do they just use the led lighting
If you ever need any help, tips or tricks then I'm always here to help , I've been breeding and showing finches for over 35 years.
Awesome thank you. I just put nest boxes in the aviary for the Java’s. They have been building like crazy.

@@MARKSFINCHES excellent! Thanks for the advice.
Hey Chris, what should I do with the non-fertile eggs after all the babies hatch?
Leave the eggs in there until the chicks are about 3 days then you can remove them.
Nice
Do you still have your quails
Haven't seen them in a while
I don’t right now. I had sold them before last winter. I am looking to get more chicks and raise them up again.
@@birdnerd looking forward to it
I really hope you do get quails again! I finally got my hen to go broody (4 chicks hatched) by applying the information from your videos!
Love it! 🤩
Have you still got the button quail???
Currently I don’t. I have been looking to get more.
Super

How long have the chicks been out of the nest for? Do the chicks seem healthy and strong or are they continuously fluffed up and begging for food?

Are the babies weaned? If they are remove them to a different cage and many times that will help the female calm down.
birdnerd the babies can now eat on there own. I gave them a bigger so it does seem that the female has calmed down now.

Very cool! How often are you cleaning it?
What are the dimensions of the aviaries?
The outside aviary is 12 feet long by 10 feet wide by 7 feet tall.
Paint your wire mesh black
