Great call Jon. I love The Saints. So glad you liked it Greg. I hope Jon will give you another of their songs before too long. You need to hear more from them. You should probably check out their most well known song I'm Stranded.
Great choice by Jon. A rare example where I prefer the cover version to the original. The first 3 albums by The Saints, with Ed Kuepper, I'd say are essential listening.

That was great! I just recently discovered The Easybeats, another Australian band, cover of this. Never knew The Saints covered it. Both are now on my covers playlist!

Love the Saints! Greg…I Had a track off their 1st album (I’m Stranded) lined up to drop you as a Kofi request soon! Jon beat me to it!😀 this track is not from the 1st album though, but a single B side! This is a great cover version, but some of the tracks on the actual album would have been a better introduction IMO! Practically every song on the album are scorchers! Partly due to Ed Keupper’s guitar playing! Songs like ‘One Way Street’ and ‘Erotic Neurotic’ are life changing!! Their 1st Single ‘I’m Stranded’…. Was Released before the Damned’s ‘New Rose’ and the Sex Pistols ‘Anarchy in the UK’!! So the 1st Punk Single!!??I believe Malcolm McLaren arrived back from Australia in 1976 with a copy of the Saints single and rushed the Pistols to record and release a single! Chris Bailey’s vocals amazing too!
Guys, re The Saints and blues, listen to their 1981 album ''The Monkey Puzzle''. There's your blues orientation as every song is so good, all sing able. Also, The Boss covered their song ''Just Like Fire Would'' recently.
You might also enjoy 'The Saints' song 'Just Like Fire Would.' Less of a punk song and perhaps a little more in the George Thorogood direction.

Great choice. I still have this EP. There was this, two of their own songs, and a cover of Lipstick on your Collar. When they came to the UK they got a bad review from Melody Maker. I still remember Chris Bailey’s response to the review, “ I didn’t travel 10,000 miles just to be called nondescript by a bunch of wet-kneed pommie bastards!” 😂 Classic. My favourite album of theirs is their third album Prehistoric Sounds, but the first two are also awesome!
The best years (IMO) of the Saints were the first three albums. Ed Kuepper was the main songwriter. He was stubborn but self effacing and modest.
Chris Bailey was the singer and had the punk rock swagger. The pair split after the third album due to personality clashes. Bailey kept the Saints' band name, and Kuepper had a mostly solo career.
Have a look at Kuepper's album Honey Steels Gold for a different change of track.

You can't add the Sex Pistols after hearing The Saints "I'm Stranded".Malcolm McClaren legend has it bought the single and told the Pistols this is what you need to sound like. Punk bands all did covers The Ramones biggest hit was a cover and the Sex Pistols did covers as well.
