What a sweet love song. We will always carry it in our hearts. Even here in Greenland. We learned about Hawaiian music, when American soldiers came to our Land, and built airplane bases in our country. We even made a Greenlandic version of "Song of Old Hawaii" in Greenlandic.

Enjoy his voice and feel his spirit inside. He paid with his life on his weight problem 10 years ago. Remember, anyone can insult the obvious. But a true person can recognize the real beauty in life. IZ was a very beautiful man and shared this gift with the world. RIP IZ!!!
Hawaiians are great people, and I know some of them wish Hawaii was still 100% theirs, but it isn't, and a lot of natives are really nice to visitors. Hawaii is just full of polynesians, and they're some of the best people I've met. All nice, full of spirit, very welcoming and humourous. I love Hawaii

Im just rather new to finding and listening to IZ but i can tell though that he was a great man and it sucks that he died. He could have done so much for the world with his music and message(s). He is a great singer and is a great role model for many to do good and change their lives. But still R.I.P. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

This song is meant to be sung with much "Kauna", you hear him giggle and frazz his words a bit, it's meant to be sung sassy. That's the Kauna of the song, picture two young love birds frolicking in the sand. RIP IZ.

I LOVE this man. Have been learning the uke for a couple of months-found the tabs for this tune and within 5 minutes was making a reasonable attempt. Nowhere near the great IZ but am still having fun.

Check out his version of somewhere over the rainbow. Its a trip. I have never heard anything like it. He is a big guy, and I never thought much of the song. But it hits home. What a powerfull being he was.

If the lyrics.wikia English translation of the lyrics is accurate, the song becomes all the more impressive. With more like-examples of values (i.e. being cherished by ones grandparents, being the delight of ones parents, and those things being indicative of ones good character indeed, being a compliment), and families actively fostering an environment where such values could grow and more good people like Bruddah IZ telling us about it perhaps the world would be a better place.

Can anyone else see the face in the sky at 31 seconds into the video? It looks like it's peacefully exhaling the clouds over the islands; and in a more surreal way it looks like it has a lobster claw for an arm with a Johnny Bravo quiff et al. Hi I hope you don't mind but I have a few questions as I am trying to learn Hawaiian. I'll just stick with one line so that I'm not going on forever with questions at you. The line Puana ka inoa o ku'u ipo my dictionary gives Puana as the refrain to a song (either lyrically or musically, it doesn't state, but I assume it's both) so I have that line as Refrain, I assume it's a Hawaiian metonymy, is it? (Two questions then sorry) so it becomes repeat, also does it modify inoa which normally means

sadly, i only recently discovered bruddah iz.i had heard his version of
"over the rainbow" but never knew who sang it.
i saw "facing foward"@the library.WOW!!his voice is so pure and angelic listening to his songs brings a sense of peace and melancoly to me. i ended buying my own copy &i play it every nite to my baby who falls asleep to it. it is sad he has passed 4rm our world but his songs will live 4ever. thanks peasefrawg for posting his videos!!
