Thanks Steve, really enjoyed the whole series. Now that control surfaces are supported, I'll be moving to Luna as my primary DAW, from Logic. Searched for tutorials and came across your video series....quick and concise, perfect! I'll probably dig into Office Hours in the future but for now this is exactly what I was looking for. I'll also be picking up your British mix template and rack mount heritage presets...Happy to support great content! On a side note, fingers crossed Luna will soon have comping similar to Logic...Other than that and Drummer, I'm all in with Luna now.
This comment is absolutely awesome! Thank you so much for the kind words!
I’ll certainly be making more as Luna develops!
Check out my plugin-preset and mix templates here:

Well done Steve!
Thanks Kat
Thank you very much for this tutorial
You are welcome for sure!
More to come as Luna updates!
Spill feature has been in Harrison mixbus 32c for a long time.
Great video brotha loved it😆
Great video, thanks!
Cheers mate!
Hi Steve, just watched your series on Luna. I think it’s outstanding and great. Tomorrow I will be downloading your heritage on templates and also consul. I actually had a personas single fader control surface for a while, but have never really used it only here and there. What other control surface do you recommend that I get? Don’t think I can afford the SSL FU1.
Thanks Wayne
I just remembered where I put it. It’s called Fader port and I found it. Can I use that?
@@waynecarlson9168 yup!
Faderport is nice, I have one for my wife’s home studio.
I also like the new icon nano, it’s got similar feature set to the uf1.
Thanks man!
Cheers mate!! More in coming soon!
Arturia Keylab MkII as MIDI as well as DAW controller
I think it's great to see you rockin' those Event monitors back there! I've had mine since before the turn of the millennium. Their still going strong! Thanks for the post. My Raven MTi just recently went down and have been using Logic for forever. But have been trying to move towards Luna more. It's definitely outside my comfort zone but, I've been investing in it never the less.
I have an old classic Fader Port. I wonder if it's compatible? I also have a Behringer X Touch that I use for my Midas M32C. Maybe those two will get me going? What setup would you recommend? That SSL looks sweet but the comments from the the previous video seem like people are not getting it to work properly.
I think the Faderport and the x-touch have direct support. So whatever fader feels better in your hand.
It’s still basic so far, transport. Automation. Panning. Faders. Etc.
Bummer about that raven!
The events are probably some of the most underrated monitors. I’m excited to get some sonar works action happening on them.
Cheers mate!
@@TheSteveKinney Even Ric Beato rocks those Events! Thanks for the response. I'll be sure to check out your templates!🎸🙏🏼
@@allenlocke1935 yeah man! I’ve had them in storage ever since I sold my house and moved in with Kat. Now we moved to a new spot, so good to get them back
X-Touch
Hey Steve Kinney, love your videos. was just wondering would the functions you mentioned work with extra buttons on a midi controller keyboard as well. for example a novation launchkey61 mk2 ?
Awaiting your response
Thank you
If you’re able to re-map the midi commands on your device, then technically / yea.
The functions themselves are stuck on specific midi numbers, since it’s “MCU” control.
You’d have to look them up. I don’t know them off hand.
So if your keyboard allows for re-assigning, then you’d make each key, whatever midi cc number you’d need it to be.
If it does NOT - then you’d have to get an intermediary software and start tweaking. Gets tedious there.
Notations are usually pretty open though.
Cheers!
-Steve
@@TheSteveKinney thank you for your lovely response. Will look into it.
Thank you
Thanks for all the info. I have a problem. I have a Monogram CC as a controller. I have configured it to do many operation in Luna. However I Cannot make it have my volume slider up and down. I have set up control surface with the Monogram and have set everything to on. The volume slider will not move. Any ideas?
Volume fader on your “main” track?
@@TheSteveKinney In my mixer view i want to be able to control the volume faders of each track plus the main. My monogram console has a module with three faders. I can also program the volume faders to my buttons with go left to right or up and down.
I could send you a screen shot if i knew how.
I just sent the screenshot to your email
Can you switch between Mix view and Edit view with the NANO ? aka, missing F controls not assignable in the software...just midi, no function keys
The nano has layers for its soft keys, it’s in there.
You can remap the nanos controls with nano software. I’ve found the results don’t work that good though. Something about the nano software - didn’t customize well with logic either.
Try using “command + =“
i cant see studio live III in the dropdown menu
If it supports MCU - try putting it into MCU mode.
I am using a SSL Nucleus 2. There is no current support from SSL for Luna so I will have to create my own. I am starting with the Standard Logic profile. I need to obtain the CC mappings to assign. Basic functions are working and I can assign key commands but I really need deeper integration. Any thoughts how to achieve this?
Right on! Interested in the nucleus myself.
Most of the functions are legit only the basics.
Transport. Automation. Pan. Open mixer. Arm tracks. Mute solo. Control the fader.
No plugin control just yet.
studio live III???
If it supports MCU - should work.
@@TheSteveKinney mcu logic mode. It won’t work
@@juanwaissman1 logic mode is specific. Does it have just a standard MCU mode?
Hi, does luna support console 1?
From what I understand - it always has.
But the device is not a control surface in the traditional sense. Think of it like a software platform separate from your DAW.
SOME daw’s have gotten direct support from softube for this, so for those daws it does work like a traditional controller.
Console 1 loads as a plugin - then - plugins are loaded inside of that plugin host. This is what the controller controls - not the daw.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Cheers mate!
@@TheSteveKinney thank you! But do you think that um the future we Will have console 1 has a controller surface? Or just mapping the seetings like its possible in logic?
Appreciated
@@TAURUS4830 all of these companies are starting to all be at war with each other.
Softube is trying to become UA - and therefore they are trying to make all their stuff as proprietary as possible.
We will likely see support eventually in the same way it works with logic... hopefully, but likely nothing better.
I’d also be willing to bet that softube is about to come out with a new one thanks to SSL.
@@TheSteveKinney thank you thank you
