I like “the kingdom of God is within your grasp”. It literally makes us decide where we stand. Following Jesus is kingdom building- on a daily basis. I pray every day “Thy will be done - not mine. They name be hallowed- not mine. They kingdom come - not mine.” And daily try to live that with more or less ‘success’
A good reminder of the connection between daily prayer and standing firm, and that living 'successfully' may be oriented towards faithfulness and not just 'effectiveness'.
Thanks for giving us this new insight into the meaning of that passage - it makes it more challenging and your prayer required a hearty ‘amen’ from me.

I believe that we are to be active and not passive as we partner with God on this earth to bring bear witness to His Kingdom. As Jesus promised his disciples in John 14:12 if we have faith in him we will do what he had been doing and that is ushering in the kingdom of God on earth.

Thank you so much, Fr. Wright. You have taught me so much about new creation and the kingdom and it has changed my whole outlook on life. After going through an intense and critical look at my faith over the past few years, asking all the hard questions, I came to true belief in the resurrection of Christ, and you've helped me understand what it means that Christ was raised. Service is now at the heart of my faith - at our parish we have a program where we give out clothes and other items to people who need them, and I am there nearly every weekend so that I may share the love and grace God has given me. I still have a long way to go, I'm still working through my own issues and sin, but when I look back on where I was a few years ago, I'm amazed to see how much I've changed - how I'm beginning to have my true humanity restored. Being active in the kingdom and partaking in Christ's death and resurrection is so much better than just worrying about what happens when we die - and I have you and God to thank for that realization. God bless you and I hope we can meet one day.

I’m not sure I completely agree. The kingdom of heaven is righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. It seems more of an internal thing (within you).
I’m no scholar, but this kingdom is eternal though intersecting with this temporal realm to equip us for success against the adversary.
We must have righteousness (in Yeshuah), joy which comes as we walk led of the Spirit, and peace in the Holy Spirit.
I must watch this video more times and get a better grasp on what you are saying. Just had a different perspective and it stopped me from fully accepting what you shared.

Christ is transforming me, so I know that the kingdom of heaven is within me. I just do not know what my calling is and I do not wish to be passive. How do I move with the Holy Spirit?
Great question. Some good first steps might be in relationship with others in a local church or other community of the Spirit. It is often that as we walk with the wise we grow wise. There are also many many books on the subject of discernment and 'calling'. What do others think?
@@NTWrightOnline Yes, I go to church a couple of times a week so am fostering relationships with my brothers and sisters in Christ through the spirit. I read the bible everyday and feel transformed by the Word of God. Prayer has become a major part of my daily practice. I guess I'm now looking for answers. I feel like a light has been switched on in the dark. I just don't who or what I am supposed to pass on that illumination to.
A good lesson and one worth pondering. I think the scheduling is somewhat unfortuitous in that fewer folks on this side of the pond will see it because of the day of release.

And it is equally intriguing to hear you mention an idiomatic translation that “kingdom is within our grasp”.
The implication here is that we need to do something to bring it as a reality among us, in all walks of our lives, in accordance with our complementary life purposes (in perfect alignment with your ball is in your court language)
The question is how do it, as we live in a world filled with people from all worldviews including atheists/agnostics as well
This is why, in my humble view, we need to create a “two step roadmap” - first in principle dimension, using a bridge doctrine (called sovereignty of God) that is agreed by all worldviews(including atheists/agnostics)
In other words, if at all one doctrine both science and scriptures of all worldviews agree (including atheism/agnosticism) is this idea called sovereignty(or cosmic-karma/al-malik)
This precisely is why we as an ministry say that need another integrated reformation by re-explaining/advancing Luther’s reformation formula (Simul Justus et Peccator), using our firm’s one such kingdom formula “worship is work”?
The big idea here is to take the earlier reformation from the 16th century to the next level in an integrated manner across all worldviews and disciplines, using a bridge doctrine called sovereignty(or cosmic-karma/al-malik in other worldviews), using its new theological framework called sovereignism. as only way to sustain such kingdom outcome of any reformation is by reforming both theology and business disciplines in an integrated manner, in such a way that these multi disciplinary reformation efforts can flow along the gradient (or momentum) of sovereignty as explained in this link summary (lnkd.in/g8uqhz-U including its sub links within it)

Is this connected to Isaiah 2:2-4? I have heard Bishop Barron use that Isaiah passage for first Sunday of Advent sermon last year for Word on Fire podcast. The Book of Isaiah is probably one of my favourite Bible books. Also, this passage from Luke, reminds me of Genesis 4:6-7.
There are certainly connections between the prophet Isaiah and some of Luke's concerns in terms of 'the surprises' of
the kingdom of God, both in how it is inaugurated and manifested and by whom. And, yes, one way in which we might grasp the kingdom in our daily lives is in the decisions we make as to who or what we will serve. Thanks for your reflection.
The kingdom of god is within you. Why do they have to complicate that? You hear the word manifestation. What is reality? Everyone has their own interpretation. Who’s right or wrong? Even the insane have their own reality. It’s just perspective. The scientists, physicists and philosophers still are debating , what is consciousness or does AI have have a conscious ? I believe somewhere inside, that consciousness, there’s energy, spirit,, something that’s not physical,, timeless, like your dreams or imagination. Something that gives you belief or at least faith. What is manifestation? Isn’t that what we create with our thoughts ,imagination ,belief and working towards that belief. To me, it makes sense that the kingdom of god is within you and we are the co-creators of our future. When people try to put the kingdom of god and heaven outside of man. They are taking away the individual free will in man to create what he conceives heaven to be. I think governments and religions know of this power and try to dictate this for their own personal gain and greed, We are spiritual beings in the flesh. We are all connected spiritually and the kingdom of god is within . Planet earth is where we create a heaven for all, peace and love

N.T. Wright has a very high reputation in the Church of England, but this video shows the worst of Anglicanism - turning something simple into something complicated. The King James version of the New Testament gives Luke 17:20-21 as "the Kingdom of God is within you". And the Peshitta Syriac version translated into English gives the same. The Peshitta has been used by Christian congregations north of Galilee from 4th century AD. 'Within you' is the correct translation of the original Greek. But many recent translations have been 'amongst you'. Why are modern-day Christians mangling Jesus' words? It's up to them to explain, but for anyone who reads the Gospels regularly, and takes note of what Jesus says about the 'Kingdom of God', something he spoke about more than anything else, must know that he is talking about an inner spiritual transformation that subsquently spreads outwards to the formation of communities. To bury the message of individual transformation, being the first stage of connecting to God, is a spiritual crime, in my opinion. Only a professional priest seems capable of this harm.
To the team handling the camera operations, could you consider raising the front-facing camera by 10cm? I am deeply appreciative of the teachings, and given the investments made for high-quality recordings, I believe this adjustment might enhance the overall visual experience. Of course, this is merely my personal suggestion.

Two Trees at the centre of garden is impossible spatially. If we consider the garden as one’s own life and centre temporally as the present moment (NOW), it is possible to accommodate 2 trees (PAST and FUTURE) at the centre. The Psyche with the memory of repeated observations of PAST categorises the environment elements of the environment into good and evil (repetition of PAST is believed to repeat In FUTURE also and is termed as REALITY / RATIONALITY/ ). Satan is one who advises that for travelling through the uncertainty of this moment the Psche can utilise the fruit of the tree of knowledge (gathered in the PAST/ RATIONALITY) and avoid faith in GOD. The self (SA) protects itself with the fruit of the tree of knowledge (MA, RATIONALITY MAturity) and SMA (the SMArt Psyche) is able to pass through the uncertainty of the present moment without any FAITH in GOD. Eve started it. It’s applicable to every individual Psyche every moment of life. SMA, the SMArt Psyche, can eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge (imbibe the knowledge gathered until now) and avoid the fruit of the tree of FUTURE (which is uncertainty covering the LIFE ). The choice of Eve was to opt the sath gathered until the eve of LA (the natural limit of repeated observation which is the basis of സത്, sath, truth ). Though the advice of Satan was maintenance of the status quo of the acquired knowledge (Kingdom of EARTH ) for avoiding the uncertainty, the unavoidable boredom makes the Psyche (SMA) to abandon the ritualised knowledge (MA) and the Psyche ends up in free fall (പതന, pathana to pathal . Satan’s enticement of avoiding the uncertainty ends up as D’evil’s Hell.
The RATIONALITY helps SMA (the Psyche) in avoiding the uncertainty of the future SMArtly. But the fruit of the tree of LIFE remains out of the reach of the SMArt Psyche.
The burning fire which keeps the bush intact (YHWH) wishes to abide in the Psyche (SMA) of Moses, but demands shoes to removed first. The idea “MA” engulfing SA as MAturity in interacting with its neighbors. MA is the EARTH on which the Psyche grounds. The RATIONALITY on which SMA grounds is demanded to be removed and be replaced with FAITH. “ YHWH “ abiding in “SMA” would completely burn it, keeping “SA” intact. The idea of “BORN AGAIN” Psyche (SA) is a mutation happening in the attitude of the Psyche. Attitude to the neighbouring SMA gets mutated as “that YHWH “. The attitude of the Psyche gets mutated from exploitation to “true love and true service” . Mutation to treat the neighbor (“that”..”TA”) as “King God”.
The Kingdom is within the grasp of the individual freewilled Psyche (SMA). For Moses and to every Psyche (SMA) it’s the decision of the grounding from RATIONALITY to FAITH. The FAITH liberates the Psyche to GO aheaD beyond the limitations posed by MA (my RATIONALITY/ my MAturity).
The BORN AGAIN Psyche (SA) is able to get beyond “MA” (the sense of MAturity based on the ritualised knowledge gathered until now) and interact in a novel way with “TA” , the environment and create SA +TA (sath സത്) new truth relevant to this moment.
The Kingdom at hand (in the grasp of SMA, the Psyche) preached by Jesus is “here and now “.

Kingdom of HEAVEN is about treating the environment as a child treats it, with inquisitiveness and adaptability. Imbibing the scientific temper.

Respond to the challenge…. Otherwise the Psyche is doomed to be incarcerated to the PAST.
