Enjoyed your style of sharing the information very much, might suggest that you add a link to the next video in the series in your description above. Thank you.

    Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I agree, all the videos of segmented bowls but they don't show you how to do it.
Like it's some sort of ancient secret.
I mean we're not performing brain surgery here.
I've been turning for 3 years now and was baffled by this technique, saying to myself I'll never be able to do that. I'll give it a try.
    Thanks again.

Good information. I did it very similar for many years as a wood pattern maker. Especially your first lay out. And because we used 6 segments per ring on most everything I just used the radius to get the lengths of the segments. If I wanted more I could use simple math to get the number. We never heard of a wedgie sled back then plus the rings would have been to big for one.
Today i do use a wedgie sled for the segmented bowls I turn. I also use a simple and free app called Segmented Calculator 2. This is a huge time saver over the second part you are doing. But the first part is a must if you do not have design software.

Awesome! Thank you for this information. I'll look at the segmented calculator.

That segment calculator only got 2.8 stars any idea why such a poor rating??

I have no idea and I figure it is probably someone who does not understand it. I think it is one of the best free tools you can use. It is on my phone. Both versions work fine. I am using Segment Calculator 2.
I also have found that most reviews lean toward the negative side on almost anything. When someone has something that works good they hardly do reviews.
Just give it a try. It matches what I do with WoodTurner Pro and it is always in my pocket. Beats going back in the house to check things on my computer based software.

As I have lived in a metric country for 50 years, imperial is very difficult.

It just takes practice. Then again, why change if you are in a country using metric

You can use a squared paper...

Yes, any graph paper would work, however, with me not being able to leave the home for the next two weeks, I am using whatever materials that I have at home.

Would you say you have to be good in math to get into carpentry ?

Being able to read a tape measure is critical. Basic math skills are important.
