OpenBVE Virtual Railfanning: A and M Trains at Howard Beach - JFK (QueensLink Concept)

- Imagine if the MTA reactivated the former LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch for the subway? Plans would be to extend either the G or M (the M would be used for this example) to the Rockaways to help provide a faster trip for subway riders. Here, you have A and M trains running to the Rockaways with the M using the former branch for service. Yes, I'm aware the announcements are spliced horribly but I did my best.
If QueensLink were to be an actual thing, a subway rider who lives along Queens Blvd would have two choices getting to JFK Airport by subway:
E to Sutphin Blvd and taking the AirTrain
M to Howard Beach and taking the AirTrain
The MTA could take it to the next level by extending a subway line that terminates at JFK, or even making a whole new subway line that exclusively connects JFK and LaGuardia Airports together. Knowing the MTA though, that seems more a fever dream if anything...
Here's a link to a concept map showing the QueensLink project. www.vanshnooke...

I support any projects that would help improve service for all subway riders (deinterlining, etc).
queenslink better become a reality. queens barely has any subway lines running, especially the middle of the borough. queenslink can help expand ridership, it brings the G back to QBL, it brings back the old lirr atlantic av-woodhaven station, it has some parts of queensway that makes it useful, and it brings back the old lirr rockaway beach branch for service. its a HUGE win, we dont need another high line in queens.
I’m glad all of us here prefer more subway service than a park on a vital subway line. I mean, we already have Flushing Meadows park so
Nice. It would be nice to see the M train go to the rockaways. I hope they do make the decision to do the Queens Link soon.
Hey Adam, it’s been a while. Your content never gets old, keep doing what you’re doing broski. I haven’t been posting much videos is cuz I just finished a Train Op Test for MTA and waiting for my results💯🔥
Good luck on your results for the test! Nice to see you signing up for the MTA!
@@adammars1438 Thank u so much bro, it means a lot. No matter how busy I am, I still watch and enjoy your videos. 5 starts⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This NEEDS TO BECOME REALITY
That's what I'm sayin'
If Mta confirm it then it’ll be allowable.
@@TajmirTheRandomFanthey made it look like pure shit in the 20 year needs assessment by lowering potential ridership, and jacking the cost by about 20% for no reason so yeah mta is hella biased towards the walmart wish temu high line but a park alr exists there aka forest park but the mta and the city are way to dumb to release how the Queenslink will be possibly the best project they pursue along with the ibx which thank GOD is getting some luck to it but Queenslink needs more

Instead of merging, Queenslink should be completely de-interlined. This is because the Rockaway Line has abandoned express tracks and two southern branches. They can be reactivated and the Jamaica Bay bridges can be widened to make room for a 4-track line with Broad Channel being demolished and rebuilt as a local station. Where the branches split, the long-demolished Hammels station can be rebuilt but as an express station with stacked island platforms. Finally, Aqueduct Racetrack can be demolished and rebuilt as an express station because that’s the last station where the northern branches split up and it would also be a two-way station. I wonder why there are no plans to reactivate the express tracks, since this is the perfect opportunity.
Queens Link should happen in the future for the 6th Avenue (M) Train to replace the Rockaway Park Shuttle Train and operate the Rockaway Branch plus have 6th Avenue (M) Train operate on the 63rd Street Tunnel while (F) Train should operate via 53rd Street Tunnel with the (E) Train up to 5th Avenue/53rd Street Station. The (G) could also return to Forest Hills 71st Continental Avenue's Station to help the (R) Train except late nights.
Some M trains would terminate at from Rockaway Park-Beach 116th street to Lower East Side-2nd Avenue for mid-days and weekends.
Euclid Ave (A) (C) (F) ?
I know (F) trains were once rerouted to Euclid but I don’t think (C) trains were running on the line then.
I’d think it would be (A) to Far Rockaway and (C) to Lefferts on the express track and (F) trains terminating on the local track
Yeah, F trains covered for C trains but in this scenario it’ll be interesting to have all three services at the same station
Queenslink Must Happen
I have an interesting request. Have this take place during the 90’s. Canal Street. J and M. Instead of using the Z, have some rush hour L trains run between Rockaway Parkway and Chambers Street in that scenario.
L trains to Chambers? That’s definitely an interesting request.
Can u make a version where the north section of the line is expanded fully from 2 tracks to 4 tracks and a train from the queens bypass line running local while the queenslink runs express?
I got a couple other good ideas:
Grand St (B) (D)
South Ferry (1) (R) (W)
7th Ave-53rd St (B) (D) (E)
Broadway-Lafayette St (6) (B) (D) (F) (M) (Q) (V)
DeKalb Ave (ft. abandoned Myrtle Ave station) (B) (Q) (R) (W)
125th St (4) (5) (6) (Q) (T)
welp like the brown M announcement with the Manhattan bound part, but nice video.
I think that if the QueensLink is a reality, it should be an extension of the Rockaway Park Shuttle. Having the M operating to the Rockaways seemed problematic.
I’d like to see your opinion on it. If the rockaway shuttle were to be extended, where would it go?
@@adammars1438 Eh, the extension operating to Rego Park/63rd Drive with transfers to the IND Queens Boulevard Line. Services between Forest Hills and Hillside, and Jackson Heights and Long Island City have much higher ridership. The MTA assessment suggests that serving the Rockaways with just one service from the Queens Boulevard Line is not viable due to low ridership.
@@the-renegade would you say ridership to the Rockaways would increase if there were more service options for JFK airport? Aside from the A and the E? It isn’t that easy to get from the city to the airport by subway unless you take the A or E?
@@adammars1438 "Would you say ridership to the Rockaways would increase if there were more service options for JFK airport?"
No, if the QueensLink exists as a means of transporting commuters directly to JFK Airport, the MTA would assess in favor of reactivating the former Rockaway Park-Beach Branch just for that. According to the MTA assessment, roughly 47-50K commuters would benefit from this-that's low. Furthermore, the amount of money and resources to simply build a rail link to JFK to benefit a small set of people just isn't worth it based on their limitations.
"Aside from the A and the E? It isn’t that easy to get from the city to the airport by subway unless you take the A or E?"
At this time, increasing the frequency of existing services is more attainable than adding a new service. Currently, the MTA is automating the IND Queens Boulevard Line and the foreseeable projects like CBTC on the IND Eighth Avenue and Fulton Street Lines are likely to ameliorate the issues of commuting to the Rockaways. Having the "M" operating off the IND Queens Boulevard Line to serve the Rockaways isn't possible due to its part-time status, low ridership, and the cost of reactivation.
What about the requests?
You’re next 👍
@@adammars1438 Awesome! It was and 3 and 4 trains at Nostrand Ave (1993-2023)
Nice could you do Atlantic Ave., Barclays Center, 2001 post 9/11
I did the same station in an older video but its literally pre 9/11 lol
If only the train platforms were that clean.
They are when the MTA does a "project initiative" to clean station platforms only for said platforms to get dirty and never cleaned again for who knows how long
@@adammars1438 they’ll never get rid of the rats, lol.

I have a request for railfaning Broadway junction (2019) (L) on the (J) platform to Lorimer from L train project and of course some (J) trains there too put a R179 on the (L) for an easter egg
unexpected to see that
