I would think about investing a few bucks into a HAM radio system for your vehicles and property. I’m using the Baoreng BF-F8HP with Nagoya NA-320A antennas in my trucks. At about $80 each with all the parts you’d need, it could be a life saver and at the least, save you a lot of frustrated walking. Great to keep the family safe...

Make a winch mount on a 2" reciever tube so you can move it to the back of your truck without repositioning and have a 2" reciever mount welded into the front of your bumper.

Heath, start looking for a big 4wd plow truck (oshkosh, walter, fwd,.. etc) with a wing plow so you can bench that snow back off the road without risking the truck itself going off. A pickup trucks plow is too small for what you're trying to do. maybe youll get lucky and find an old sidewing setup you could add to the pickup in the mean time , but id opt for the heavy truck and wing plow myself

I was born and raised in the mid-west {Missouri and Indiana}, that's where I developed my incredible dislike for snow! I left that behind me almost 30 years ago and moved to south Florida January 1991. Discovered that I disliked hurricanes as much as I disliked snow { survived hurricane Andrew in 1992 } and moved to Phoenix Arizona in 1994. A rear winch is best when you are plowing forward and have to come out backwards. I had a trailer balls mounded in the bed off the frame where I could slip on a few pieces of heavy duty pipe to make a PIPE BOOM so the winch could LIFT while it was pulling. I added a spring stopper to allow only so much squat...so I could pull with the winch without too much spring collapsing. I fast snatch block for the winch cable and I could POP others out a hole where yanking would not work. Never underestimate the usefulness of a BOOM lifting. That is why recovery wreckers have them. Even the 30-50 ton winches can be rigged to lift over a beam in a pinch that some wreckers carry as a center winch in addition to the twin boom winches.

Grew up in northern Alberta. We would build a snow ramp every winter and drive the snowmobile up the ramp and into the pickup. We never had to worry about plowing or towing or anything with that weight in the back of the truck. We had rubber tire tubes filled with sand as weights over the wheel wells of our rear while drive cars to deal with the snow. Trust me- get some ballast and you will plow and haul much more safely. Love the videos. Thanks for all the effort to make them and to share your lives.

TIP!: In your bathroom your wall does not go over the tub. There is a part around the tub that is raised. You needed to tape it and put cement over it and make it flush with the wall. Than you roll on your membrane. Now it is not waterproof and the water will get behind it. You will need to change that at some point before the entire wall goes bad because of the water that will get behind. There are a lot of very good videos about these products on a channel called (Home RenoVision DIY). I recommend you check him out and watch his videos on how to install a roll on membrane with a tub. The membrane is completely useless now. It will not divert the water back to the drain but it will go through the wall. Definitely at a point where the tub connects to the wall should you be extra careful.

Put on your summer work list to weld the rear differential up in that plow truck and find yourself some reflective marking posts so you can mark the worst parts of the road to help not get into that predicament in the worst of times. You could use T posts and add a small plastic or fiberglass reflector post to the top this would show even after heavy snow.

Tell you what I would be looking for just to plow in winter and to use as a onsite dump truck, you wouldn't be able to drive on the roads. Is a old quarry tracked dump truck there's several different sizes from pickup size to dump truck size. And trust me snow isn't gonna stop it and you would be able to get it back where you are wanting to build the cabin. And from doing snow removal myself, that curve start at the high side and work your way down instead of trying to do one side then the other. Another thought if you can find a set of tracks that mount on the trucks turning them into a four track truck i hear they are good in the snow with weight in them.

HI-JACK ....farmer jack....can pull like a winch. Use them many times to get out of a ditch when plowing before I got a winch.

Come-a-long works great too, still don't have a winch on my car trailer LOL, I'm reminded of that every time I have to go recover a dead vehicle. I think a Badlands winch with battery box and a 2" receiver sleeve on the trailer deck would be a great investment.

Well, as you said, you have figured out so many other obstacles so far; this road issue is only one more. I am confident you and the family will figure it all out. In the meantime, the snow could not be more beautiful if it tried. The bathroom tile looks great! Glad you are safe and that you did not roll the truck. Have a safe and wonderful week. Blessings to Red Poppy Ranch.

Living at RPR is not for the faint of heart nor for anyone who can't deal with a whole lot of snow. Loved the video and the way you two work together. Peace.

FYI. I have been looking at these old Willys Jeeps. After WWII they were made to be like Swiss Army knives. They have a PTO that allows all sorts of farm and road attachments. From back hoe to snow blower. If you’ve got time give them a look and see if there right for you.

Yes , the rear driver wheel was not turning. 4x4 means 4 wheels and only one front and one back are driven. So it's really two wheel drive. Funny tho it should be limited slip.

Snow needs tall and narrow tires.....think Model-T ford...which rear axle was a worn gear and would hold like a winch when stopped.

Think you need a snowblower on the front end and put markers along the road before the snow fall start to Gide you when plowing/Snow blowing!

Such a different set of worries for you guys with all of the snow and cold weather. I live in south Alabama and today our high is 77 degrees F. It is actually suppose to be in the 70's all week and I will probably be running my AC some of those days.

I think you guys need to install Long tall bright colorful poles there as Markers n also Cut into Hillside to Widen the Road for Safety.

Going to have to get rid of some dirt on that 'S' curve come late spring, and you sure could use that excavator then, and even now. Just about getting to time you'll need to snowblow that road too, if it stays cold like it is, hope you got some chains for the tractor, and while that will be slow going, it will help throwing it away from the road..just stay away from that curve!

A bigger snow plow that can throw a good distance, or a snow blower unit. It is getting again like last year where there is nowhere for the snow to go. Got to find a way to get it off the side of the road too.

When the ground thaws... get a couple dozen 3 foot tall fiberglass sticks with round reflectors on top of them to stick on the inside of that curve and you’ll never go beyond the safety zone again. Cheap and easy. Good recovery! 👍👍

Looking forward to the bath reveal. Keep warm, stay safe. Have a good week.

Oh man! You are running out of road really quickly. You need to think about a tractor with a blower to open up that road wider.
Loving the videos. Beautiful job with the house.

here's a suggestion on getting a truck unstuck on a slope. I always use a cum-a-long or a rope tied to the back hitch on the truck and to a tree uphill or another truck as an anchor when pulling others out forwards (or vice-versa pulling the other way) this will keep the back end of the stuck truck from falling further down the slope and it will pull the back end sideways uphill under tension. I have done this many times hunting on the back roads of southwest Montana. good luck with your adventures.

@22:05 .. I can see that you have a good eye for bringing up tiles the right way to a corner like around your bathtub! Big thumbs up for this job, really! Especially the integrated shelves are an eyecatcher! You can be proud! I am pleased to have such videos on youtube, where I can see that there still people exist who know what they are doing! I like this very much! Thank you or your effort and time to make your videos, and for sharing your experience with us! This makes you great! As a teacher and as an entertainer.

A long carpet runner makes good instant traction. You can either run a chain from it to the truck and drag it once you get moving or drive a couple spikes through it into the ground to keep it in place.

Make sure you run less tire pressure during snow mud and sand. You have the right tire just too much pressure in them.

I know you don't like advice, as a old Ford tech I will give it anyway. Check to see if you have positraction front and rear differentials, this can easily be done with a floor jack. All you need to change them over is a positraction carrier from a junk yard not the whole differential. You can use your old ring gear from your truck. I have done this several times and the traction increase is like night and day. I also worked at a Myers snowplow dealer for several years. The mold board (people call them just plow) looks like a 7 1/2 foot but it's hard to tell on camera. If you do I would get a 8 foot, the F 250 will handle it with easy. In the video you can see the snow falling back behind the plow into the front tires. This can cause you problems in turns as this effect in increased. All you really need is just the mold board and cutting edge as your A frame and sector should bolt to it (very old plows are not the same size as newer ones). Last, it looks like you short chained the pump. This can cause you problems as the full weight of the plow may not always be on the road. This also causes the ram to bottom in the pump case. While the case very heavy it still is aluminium and can crack.
