Thank you for uploading this. I was the blond girl trapped upstairs in the burning house. I have this episode only on an old vhs tape. And I have not watched it in many years.
@@salfordcabby yes indeed. I had woken up from sleep and seen smoke everywhere. I opened my door and saw the staircase on fire. I knew I couldn’t jump from my window since it was way too high. So the only thing I could think of was to lay down on the floor where the smoke was the least since it was rising towards the ceiling. There I waited…
@@apl7562 thank you yes indeed very lucky. It’s both really, feels like a lifetime sometimes and other times not. I have been back to l’pool since a few times.
Im a fulltime watch manager in service & been in service since cadets i love every min of it as you are allways learning & work with a super team & ppl.
We used to breath that shit in at Car fires 🔥 right up to the mid 2000s now full PPE and Breathing Apparatus , I’ve been diagnosed with COPD a chronic lung condition. These boys were quick professional really impressive you could pic holes in it but loved their passion and the love for what is indeed the best Job in the World .
I do miss the two tones. What I do notice and seems to be northern fire fighters is that do have a bloody good laugh alongside being serious. My dad was a firefighter during this period and I wonder if it’s the same now.
Still seems an oddly familiar time. I was 7 in 1997. But it all looks familiar. Even though I wasn’t from Liverpool. Just the cars, and fashion is in the back of my memory.
Wasn't there scam going on were firemen would get people to ri g in false fires because they got paid for every call out I'm sure I remember reading about it years ago, don't think they get a call fee no more because of that case.
Yes there was something along those lines where hoax calls were being made near the change of shift so those on the truck got overtime. It came to light when an appliance turned up at a reported house fire without any firefighting PPE on and were seen by an officer.
Paul who is the FF in the back of Billy’s pump asking if they are going to get mobilised to the high rise persons reported is still with Merseyside as an Area Manager
We did fine... I'm near 60 and spent 30 years in the Brigade back when wearing sets was a bit more "personal choice" than it is now. Lungs still as good as ever....Fingers crossed.

They seem to be beginning to phase the two tones back in again.
This seems ancient now, depressing how fast the times gone

I'd been in the job 12 years at the time this was filmed. I was at C3 in the city centre on green watch.

Jesus. Only reason why i think the riser blew off is because it couldn't handle the pressure from the pumps at the time.
It will have been a defective outlet, not maintained in a while probably.
Wonder where these firefighters are now?
I wondered that, must all be retired by now
PB999 not necessarily. If some were younger.

My dad did fire safety inspections until a couple of year ago, after his retirement from service.
Gary Hollis & Gravesy are well gone... not sure about the others.

Something not clear here. All the Watches in a Brigade on all Stations on duty on the same shift are the same colour. Otherwise spot on.
I think they covered two watches.... Red & possibly blue, then edited the highlights together. I was on green.
The lady who’s car it was should of helped push it she was strong
